It's that time of the year when the boys get all spiffed up for the 2026 Tony Awards! No, not those Tony Awards. The ones where we hand out golden pentagrams to bands that wear their denim and leather proudly! This year we have special guest presenters from around the podcasting world. All bands and winners are selected for the coveted Tony Award by the man himself: our esteemed Chairman, Mr. Tony Griggs! What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the SHOULD BEs. Taking their cues from the music, fashion, and the attitude from 40+ years ago, these younger bands unashamedly bask in a new underground movement of hard rock and metal poised to make the kids rock and the old timers smile! Songs this week include: Stereo Nasty – “Summoning” from Summoning (2026) The Night Eternal – “Where The World Ends” from Cold Velvet (2026) Savetta – “Heat Of The Night” from Heat Of The Night (2026) Spell – “Lilac” from Wretched Heart (2026) MEGA COLOSSUS – “The Halls Of Mystikos” from Watch Out! (2026) Stainless – “Rough Justice” from Lady Of Lust & Steel (2026) Chariots Overdrive – “Taikonautic Alchemist” from The End Of Antiquity (2026) White Wizzard – “Pay The Fiddler” from Pay The Fiddler (2025) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts! Maybe you are thinking about bringing your child home because school is not working. Or maybe you are already homeschooling, but the curriculum, methods, or supports you chose are not helping the way you hoped. When your child has dyslexia, ADHD, autism, disability, behavior struggles, or several different needs at once, the next decision can feel terrifying. You may be afraid you will choose the wrong thing, make the gaps worse, or miss something important. You may be thinking, “I love my child, but I do not know enough to do this well.” In this episode, I'm sharing a personal story from a season when I walked into a professional evaluation expecting to be told that I had failed my child. That is not what happened. The appointment did not give us a complete educational plan, but it did help me see something I had almost missed. It also helped me understand that I did not have to solve my child's entire education all at once before taking the next step. We'll talk about the fear of getting it wrong, the value and limits of professional evaluations, and how to keep paying attention to the child in front of you when the path ahead is not clear. And I want to be clear: this episode is not about rejecting professional help, and it is not about treating every professional opinion as the final word. It is about receiving useful information, protecting what is already helping, and continuing to look for support that sees both your child's struggles and your child's possibilities. If you are afraid you will mess this up, this episode will help you breathe, think more clearly about the next step, and remember that needing help does not mean you are failing. Super Tuesdays - Why The 2026 Fundamentals Spell Disaster For Trump's GOP

The Chuck ToddCast: Meet the Press

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 21, 2026 65:49 Transcription Available

With just 105 days until the 2026 midterms, Chuck Todd and Chris Cillizza use their last Super Tuesday before the sub-100-day mark to take stock of what they think they know. The headline: with Trump's approval stuck below 40, gas back over $4, an Iran conflict reigniting, and an ICE controversy dominating the news, nearly every fundamental points toward Republicans losing both chambers — and the guys argue the only thing standing between Democrats and a monster year is the Democrats themselves. They dig deep into the polling weeds, unpacking why the generic ballot has quietly become more of a party-ID number, why you can't compare it across cycles anymore, why independents are breaking hard left, and what to make of the model giving Democrats a 62% shot at the House while Republicans hold a 59% edge in the Senate. From there it's onto the races reshaping the map: South Carolina, where Trump ally Russell Frye jumps into the special and Lindsey Graham's appointed sister surprises everyone by running for a full term — a rare bit of GOP pragmatism that hands John Thune a much-needed win — and Maine, where Troy Jackson is set to be coronated at the Democratic convention and the ICE story has erased Susan Collins's post-Platner breathing room. Chuck and Chris also weigh the stalled Todd Blanche confirmation, the $400 million Qatari plane suddenly deemed too unsafe to fly, and why character and temperament remain the whole ballgame. Then they close on LeBron's looming decision — Heat, Cavs, or Sixers — and Chuck plugs the summer slate across the "Chuck Todd expanded universe." My guest on this episode is Ben Francis, author of the very compelling book titled Careful the Spell You Cast — How Stephen Sondheim Extended the Range of the American Musical. Sondheim is without a doubt one of the most studied, examined, and analyzed Broadway creators of all time. In fact, we have done quite a bit of that right here on Broadway Nation. However, as you will hear, Ben Francis contends that in spite of all of that investigation, Sondheim continues to be very misunderstood. He is often labeled as being cynical and pessimistic, but Francis instead argues that Sondheim firmly belongs to the “Broadway aspirational tradition” — a tradition that celebrates dreams of a better life — and he suggests that Sondheim's shows are to a great extent are a continuation of the work of his mentor Oscar Hammerstein II. Ben Francis' other works include contributions to the Oxford Handbook Of Sondheim Studies, the Oxford Handbook of British Musicals, and the Oxford Handbook of Shakespeare and Music, as well as Christopher Hampton: Dramatic Ironist Become A PATRON of Broadway Nation!
