Today, I'm excited to share a conversation with my very special guest Christine Gutierrez. Way back in the day, Christine interned with me as part of her psychotherapy training. Now I am proud to say she has her own expansive career as a licensed psychotherapist, self-worth expert, and spiritual thought leader. In our chat, she guides me through the themes of her book, I Am Worthy: We talk about overcoming self-doubt, cultivating self-love, and finding inner peace. It was wonderful to chat with Christine again, and I hope this episode can bring you the same joy it brings me to have her in my life! Read the show notes for today's episode at terricole.com/754

The above video was created from a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation created with the help of Microsoft Copilot. It essentially expanded on the presentation I created in the last video (based on an article by Jamie K. Wilson, The Death of Enchantment).I was actually, for the most part, disappointed with this creation—too abstract, almost devoid of life. But I thought you should be able to compare my original video at https://bookmarketing.substack.com/p/what-hollywood-sadly-has-forgotten with the above video created by PowerPoint and Copilot but vocalized by me.I suspect I won't be using Copilot anymore to create videos. Now they're a dynamic duo pursuing ultras to score Western States lottery tickets.Their most recent challenge? The Burning River 100, where relentless rain destroyed their feet with blisters, yet the pair persevered through an unforgettable run. Some people spend their whole lives affirming the fact that they shouldn't get any more than what they have. They are told to be quiet and be grateful that they have more than their parents, and to forget their own aspirations. They believe what is essentially a lie, a spell to keep you complacent. But it doesn't have to be this way! You can break the spell and get everything you've ever wanted. And to do that, I've invited an author who has broken the spell of unworthiness so many times and given herself the life she's always dreamed of.    Christine Gutierrez, MA, LMHC, is a Latina licensed psychotherapist, self-worth expert, and thought leader. Gutierrez is also the author of the book I Am Diosa: A Journey to Healing Deep, Loving Yourself, and Coming Back Home to Soul and the affirmation deck Wisdom Del Alma. Christine has a Bachelor's degree from Fordham University in human behavior and development and a Master's degree from City College of New York in mental health counseling with a focus on prevention and community. Through her work, Christine offers group coaching, corporate wellness, transformational retreats such as her annual Diosa Retreat in Puerto Rico, and soul-based business mentorship in her annual Madre Diosa Legacy Council. In addition, Christine is the founder of the forthcoming app DIOSA, a global community where like-hearted women gather to meet soul sisters, gather in circle, and rise together.  She has been featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Latina Magazine, Yahoo Health, Ebony, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, Oprah Magazine, Entertainment Online, Telemundo, and others. For more information, head to www.christineg.tv and follow her on Instagram, where she is most active: www.instagram.com/cosmicchristine    In this week's episode, we are breaking the spell of unworthiness that has been holding you back. With help from her brand new book, I Am Worthy, Christine Gutierrez talks about why unworthiness is a lie that you can stop believing in. So many of us have been walking around believing lies that were created to keep us quiet and small, when in reality, we have always had big dreams. Listen to Christine's episode to learn how to break the unworthiness spell, reject the lie, and start embracing the spell of worthiness. You can have everything you've ever wanted, as long as you believe you are worthy of it. And the most amazing thing is - you already are.    Follow Christine on: IG: @cosmicchristine Website: www.christineg.tv   Purchase I Am Worthy: Break the Spell of Unworthiness, Reclaim Your Divinity, and Unearth Your True Power by Christine Gutierrez here!   Resources Mentioned: EP. 185: The BFF Method: Manifest Anything by Rewiring Your Mind Follow Erika on: Instagram @‌theerikacruzTikTok @‌theerikacruzLinkedIn Website: http://www.theerikacruz.com How to work with Erika: Sign up for the free webinar “The Magnetic CEO Method” here! Elaine Weiss, acclaimed author of The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, follows that magisterial work with a work of equal scholarly significance and narrative excellence, Spell Freedom: The Underground Schools That Built the Civil Rights Movement (Simon and Schuster, 2025), "the story of four activists whose audacious plan to restore voting rights to Black Americans laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement.""In the summer of 1954, educator Septima Clark and small businessman Esau Jenkins travelled to rural Tennessee's Highlander Folk School, an interracial training center for social change founded by Myles Horton, a white southerner with roots in the labor movement. There, the trio united behind a shared mission: preparing Black southerners to pass the daunting Jim Crow era voter registration literacy tests that were designed to disenfranchise them.Together with beautician-turned-teacher Bernice Robinson, they launched the underground Citizenship Schools project, which began with a single makeshift classroom hidden in the back of a rural grocery store. By the time the Voting Rights Act was signed into law in 1965, the secretive undertaking had established more than nine hundred citizenship schools across the South, preparing tens of thousands of Black citizens to read and write, demand their rights—and vote. Simultaneously, it nurtured a generation of activists—many of them women—trained in community organizing, political citizenship, and tactics of resistance and struggle who became the grassroots foundation of the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. King called Septima Clark, “Mother of the Movement.” Elaine Weiss is an award-winning journalist, author, and public speaker. Episode 188: Depeche Mode – Speak & Spell (1981) Part 5 (Featuring Will Crewdson) With this fifth installment, Brian and Sarah wrap up their discussion of Depeche Mode's debut album.  Our hosts have been covering the US version of Speak & Spell, so there's only one more song on that release to be discussed. Fortunately, they always do an Extra Credit section at the end of an album, so the song that's missing from the US version will get some attention then. The last track on Depeche Mode's 1981 release is a little ditty called “Just Can't Get Enough.” The US album features the extended, “Schizo Mix,” which our hosts do talk about in some detail, but there's more focus put on the single version.  Our hosts take a deep dive into “Just Can't Get Enough,” talking about the usual things like chart positions, reviews, the record sleeves, and the recording of the song. And, for the first time on this album, there's even a video to discuss, much to the delight of Brian and Sarah.  “Just Can't Get Enough” was a pretty important song for Depeche Mode when it was released, and its importance in the world of synthpop and 80s music in general has only increased with time. Our hosts explore the legacy of the song and its place in pop culture over the past four decades. There are dozens of cover versions of “Just Can't Get Enough,” and as Brian and Sarah start talking about them, they decide to take a chance and call up someone they know who has done a cover version of this song, to see if he's available to chat.  After they finish talking about “Just Can't Get Enough,” Brian and Sarah move on to the “Extra Credit” portion of the episode, which in this case ends up being two parts. The first part is about the song missing from the US version of Speak & Spell, “I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead.” The second part is about Vince Clarke's departure from Depeche Mode. Additionally, our hosts have the pleasure of sharing some Speak & Spell memories recorded by listeners.  It's then time, at long last, for the final evaluations and record-adapter ratings. Sarah goes first, and as usual, Brian is concerned about what kind of rating she'll give, as she's a harsher critic. Brian, on the other hand, is a self-professed Vince Clarke fanatic, so it's less of a concern that he'll give a low rating. But how high does he go? Listen to find out!
