Send us a textIn the final episode of 2024, we reflect on the year that's passed and look forward with intention to the year ahead. As physicians, the end of the year often brings heightened perfectionist tendencies, alongside a desire to make sweeping changes. Instead of falling into the trap of magical thinking, we walk through a healthier, more intentional process to close out the year and start fresh without unrealistic expectations.Together, we explore how to celebrate our wins, honor our challenges, and set meaningful intentions for the new year—without guilt, self-judgment, or the weight of “should.”What We Cover in This Episode:Celebrating Successes:Why acknowledging our wins is critical for rewiring our brains to notice the good.Practical strategies like keeping a “wins” notebook to track and reflect on daily accomplishments.Reflecting on Challenges:Identifying areas where we fell short without resorting to harsh self-criticism.Letting go of guilt, judgment, and the heaviness of unmet expectations.Setting Intentions for the New Year:Moving beyond magical thinking to create actionable, realistic goals.Prioritizing intentionality and carving out time for what truly matters.Recognizing the importance of boundaries and asking for support to make space for your goals.Key Takeaways:Wins Deserve Celebration: Physicians are conditioned to focus on what's wrong. Taking time to celebrate even small wins is essential for balance and growth.Kindness Over Judgment: Reflect on challenges with compassion to gain clarity and take constructive steps forward.Intentionality Drives Change: Goals require planning and action—small, consistent steps make progress attainable and sustainable.A Simple Framework for Closing Out the Year:Celebrate: What went well in 2024? What are you proud of?Acknowledge Challenges: What obstacles did you face, and what lessons can you take forward?Set Intentions: What do you want for yourself in 2025, and how can you start creating space for it?Practical Tips:Start a notebook or journal to track wins daily or weekly.Reflect on where your time goes—look for areas to reclaim time for meaningful pursuits.Break down goals into small, achievable steps to avoid overwhelm and perfectionism.Create boundaries to protect time for rest, relationships, and personal growth.Final Thoughts:As we step into 2025, let's carry forward the lessons of this year with compassion and clarity. Whether this year was filled with wins, challenges, or both, reflection can help us grow and set intentions for a brighter future.Thank you for being part of this journey in 2024. Episode Description: In this explosive episode of "Death of Fun," Matt and the crew dive deep into a satirical and darkly humorous discussion on geopolitics, spycraft, and the absurdities of modern warfare. Brace yourself for a mix of insightful takes, conspiracy theories, and inappropriate jokes that only this crew can deliver. We're continuing our three-part mini-series on Lost You Forever by diving right into a truck load of spoilers! In honor of the reverse harem-ness at all, we organized our discussion around leading lady, Xiaoyao, and her four suitors. This episode, we start with Xiaoyao herself–and her many abandonment issues. Then, we get into our complicated feelings about her charming, ambitious cousin, Cang Xuan and his dangerous pursuit of the throne. As a treat (for Corinne), we also talk about Xiaoyao's bratty half-sister, A'nian, because she's the worst (and the best). Don't worry Fangfeng Bei and Tushan Jing fans, stay tuned for part three of our discussion for our hot takes on the rest of the harem. When it comes to music, why does it seem like so many younger artists are playing catch up instead of staying ahead of the curve?Could be luck, could be skill, or could it be not having the right mindset or having your priorities straight.Thankfully, we have Jeremy from the band Earth Groans on the podcast to dive deep into all of this. In this podcast, you will easily discover:How Jeremy realized that art is 80% business and 20% creative, and why that mindset has allowed the band to always stay ahead of the curve. How the music industry, as well as the world, is constantly evolving, forcing artists to either adapt or become irrelevant in an industry where relevance is everything. How literally being tongue tied at birth inspired the band's new EP, and how it all relates to being a part of the rock & metal community. Also, BREADSTICKS IN THE PIT!Want to stay connected with so much great new music? Today's episode is part two of a two-part conversation with Ayanna who is a friend of my family and the daughter of the late Mr Dick Gregory, a great African-American freedom fighter and civil rights leader. Ayanna is also a civil rights activist, songwriter, singer, performer, educator, and motivational speaker. We talked about a variety of topics in this section of our conversation, including how the pandemic has affected her visits to the island, some of her struggles and her future plans, as well as her mother's experience visiting Jamaica during the pandemic and being in Negril for the first time in 50 years. We concluded our conversation with a special message from Ayanna to you. Please enjoy the show. In this episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kory South, a good friend who is like family to me. He runs Sunset Resort, my home away from home in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. We talked about his transition from the United States to Jamaica, raising children in Jamaica, running a hotel during the pandemic, developing and maintaining hobbies, and the improvements in and around Treasure Beach. This podcast was recorded on the deck of Sunset Resort, which overlooks the pool. So, if you hear the sea breeze, water splashing, or people talking, it's because we were in an active environment. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy my conversation with Kory. Welcome back to another episode of Puzzling Company! In this episode, Jared, Hunter, and Matthew talk about Escape the Room: Murder in the Mafia. The next game to come from ThinkFun and Blue Matter Games, this third installment to the Escape the Room series is charming, vibrant, and full of drama and intrigue. Once unfolded, the detective's office came to life, though unfortunately, we couldn't say the same for the Chicago mob enforcer Mickey, who we found dead in our office with our own gun beside him. Somebody framed us, and they did a darn good job. Listen to our thoughts as we take a shot at getting the mob--and hopefully the law--off our backs! Look for this game on the shelves at your local game store, as well as on the ThinkFun and Blue Matter Games websites at the end of February. Listening a little later? In today's episode, we are starting our breakdown of the newly released series The Last of Us based on the game of the same name! For those who want to remain entirely spoiler-free, this is not for you, but given the game has been out for some time, we assume most casual audiences will be curious enough to learn more about the source material. In this episode, we cover the major story beats, what we enjoyed and what we hope is to come in the story. Finally, we try to dive a little bit deeper into the show. As fans of the game, seeing an adaption done well is refreshing for us. Please enjoy this breakdown in episode one of The Last of Us! Let us know what you think! Summary of episode one: In 2003, a mass fungal infection sparked a global pandemic. Joel flees with his daughter, Sarah, and brother, Tommy; a soldier kills Sarah. Twenty years later, Joel lives in the Boston quarantine zone managed by the Federal Disaster Response Agency (FEDRA), working as a smuggler with his partner, Tess. When Tommy fails to contact them from Wyoming, they buy a car battery from a local dealer, Robert, but are double-crossed when he sells it to the Fireflies, a rebel group in open opposition against FEDRA. Attempting to retrieve it, Joel and Tess discover Marlene, the Fireflies' leader, who begs them to take Ellie to the Massachusetts State House in exchange for a working truck. While sneaking out, the three are caught by a soldier who tests them for the infection, revealing Ellie to be positive. Joel kills the soldier while Ellie claims to be immune. This episode was directed by Craig Mazin and co-written by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. I share what brought me to move to Florida from California! I am finally authentically sharing my story of my move with you :) I break this episode up into a few chapters so that I can really give the story to true attention it deserves... Chapter 1: The Back Story… Leading Up to the Move Chapter 2: Preparing for My YES Chapter 3: Closing Out of California Chapter 4: Arriving to Florida Remember... Things don't make sense looking ahead. It isn't until we've taken our path and then glance back and smile because it all makes sense. God is a God of details and He knew His plans for you and for me. And when the time is right, we get to connect those dots and gush over the beauty of it all. Leading up to my move, I was sowing the entire time without even realizing it. NOW, I am in my harvest season. 2020 was the start of my new goals and I am living out those manifestations in the year of 2022 and beyond. What I Did to Help Prepare For My Move: Active prayer life (ask + discern what it is that He wants you to do + where) Pre-praise (give Him praise + thanks before your answered prayer! Act as if it's already been fulfilled— because it has been!) Detailed affirmations (get specific on what you want + declare it) Write down your vision + make it plain (Habakkuk 2:2-3) My hope is to inspire you to live out your vision. Trust God with your story

Closing Out the Draft Hype, Steve makes his official prediction on what the Sens will do a #3 and #5. Sens Make a Trade with Florida for Josh Brown, another right shot defenceman. Will there be other Sens deals in the next few days? Now that the Sens have bought out Bobby Ryan, how in the world will they get to the salary cap floor? Perhaps a well paid veteran goalie on a short term UFA deal might provide the answer. There are many UFA goalies out there this off-season who might not have many decent options. Steve has seen the Sens New Black Uniforms and provides a full description.
