The Rocky Mountain Baseball podcast is back to talk about what moves the Colorado Rockies have made this offseason (happy trails to Chad Bettis, Tyler Anderson, and others) plus more potential moves to come as we approach MLB's reserves deadline, which is when teams need to have their 40-man rosters set in advance of the Rule 5 Draft.Jeff Bridich and company could use that draft, and many others, to rebuild a roster and system that became severely depleted in 2019 as a result of, well, I'm still not sure what. We'll get into that last part in futurer episodes, but for now, we'll get you up to speed on prospects the Rockies might keep around and ones they could wind up parting with as the aforementioned deadline approaches.Plus, musings on Nolan Arenado, Jon Gray, and more on another edition of Your Favorite Rockies Podcast! We know the Rockies were bad in 2019 and we're not far from putting that to bed, but first we have to get the perspective of one of the finest baseball analysts out there. On this special Hit and Run edition of the Rocky Mountain Baseball Podcast, ESPN and Fangraphs' Dan Szymborski explains what happened to our beloved purple-clad strongboys this past season and why, unfortunately, we might see more of the same in 2020. Dan chimes in on what little did go right for Colorado in 2019 and also breaks down the Dodgers' hilarious collapse at the hands of the Nationals in the NLDS.Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review the podcast on Apple and anywhere else you listen. The Rockies have to lay it all on the line in 2020 ... or else

Colorado Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich is learning from the cardinal sins he committed in 2016, when the club decided to give playing time to pointless veterans instead of seeing what they had in the likes of Tom Murphy, Raimel Tapia, etc. That atonement came in the form of the Rockies finally cutting bait with unproductive-as-hell Chris Iannetta, who--despite sucking the life out of all of us for the better part of two seasons--has a strong case for the title of best catcher in club history. It appears they'll give some playing time to Dom Nuñez, whose major league debut was a memorable one. Does he have what it takes to get it done at the highest level? We break that down a little bit.Plus, we may finally know what has been wrong with Kyle Freeland, but the Rockies are going to have to get on fixing that before 2020, which promises to be one of the most pivotal season in club history. We explain why.Prospect of the Week is back as well, and--as you've become accustomed to--we answer some of your questions to close out the episode.Visit us on Patreon and consider showing your support in the form of dollar bills, y'all. Hit and Run: Jake Shapiro talks the Rockies' bullpen, roster construction, and more

Jake Shapiro of the Denver Post, Rox Pile, and the Boulder Collegians baseball club joins the Big Guy to discuss the Colorado Rockies bullpen's fall from grace--someting he's seen coming for a while--as well as the team's general roster construction issues and how they relate to their position of, well, extremely behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West pecking order. The episode was recorded before last night's game, so of course Pat Valaika--the subject of some major handwringing by Bryan--got off the schneid with a big home run that got the Rockies back into the game and sparked an eight-run inning. The Rockies broke their 12-game losing streak against the Dodgers, but big issues still remain. We get into those in a short-but-informative edition of the RMBP Hit and Run.Full episodes will resume soon; Bryan is trying to lock down a new co-host, so things are on a bit of a hiatus with Rocky Mountain Baseball. However, we're not going to let this minor snag bring us to our knees. We'll be back with more written and audio content very soon.
