It was an entertaining series in Seattle. But it was not a good few days for the Padres. After a pair of losses and a Dodgers sweep, San Diego is now looking up at Los Angeles again. The guys assess their division hopes and the Wild Card outlook. It was not a good few days for Padres starters. Michael King should be back soon. Fernando Tatis Jr. finally homered again. Who would you rather face in the playoffs: the Dodgers or the Mets?
The baseball podcast is back with David Brown and we take a look around the league to see what races have been run and there's really anything left to decide. Are the Dodgers more or less vulnerable the longer they go through the playoffs? Why are the Brewers not a real rival, and will they ever be one? Can anybody in the American League realistically win the World Series. Would radical realignment make things better, or would we all just get even more tired of Cubs-White Sox matchups? All that, and more.

Just when they had us down, they sweep us back into their arms. Well, maybe not quite yet, but the Giants have quietly put together a 4 game winning streak and are 3 games under .500. Their offense is finally clicking, and they've even homered in 10 straight games. Devers went off tonight in game 2 of their series against the Cubs, going 4-4 with 2 bombs, a double, and 5 RBI....right after I put in the notes about his poor splits in SF vs BOS. Eric and Chad chat about the good week in Giants baseball, and look towards a favorable September schedule, where the Giants will play 6 games against the Dodgers, the only winning team in their last 29 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Reds with a 5-1 win on Wednesday, pulling two games ahead in the National League West race and moving into possession of the second-best record in the NL. Shohei Ohtani had his best game on the mound and earned his first win, Edgardo Henriquez showed his stuff out of the bullpen, and Kiké Hernandez and Dalton Rushing both had huge hits for the offense. All in all, it was a good win for an LA team that might be getting hot at the right time. Tube in all season long! Leave a voicemail or text the Friend of the Show hotline!

Longtime Seattle Mariners fan and entertainment writer Mario Lanza returns to the Jack Vita Show to talk baseball and Survivor. The Mariners were active at the trade deadline, acquiring corner infielders Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The club reaped the benefits immediately, winning 10 of its next 11 games, before hitting a snag. The M's proceeded to lose seven of their ensuing eight games. It's been a summer of high highs and low lows for the Mariners, but with just over a month remaining in the regular season, Seattle finds itself just 1.5 games back of the Houston Astros for first place in the American League West. Mario and Jack put the Mariners' season under the microscope, and attempt to predict how they see the club finishing the year. Hear why Jack believes the M's have the highest ceiling of any team in the American League. Later, they debate the merits of Cal Raleigh's season and his AL MVP candidacy. Mario's thoughts on the topic may surprise you! Along the way, they also touch on an extremely close NL West race between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, as well as various news from around Major League Baseball. Later, Mario and Jack chat about Survivor 50, the final season of Mario's Survivor Historians Podcast, The Funny 115, Saturday Night Live, and plenty more! It's an episode you will NOT want to miss!

It's another week of Asians in Baseball, and is it just us, or is it bright in here with all these STARS?!First, Team Taiwan and Lin Chin-Tse win the Little League World Series! Saweetie, V, and Sonny throw out the first pitch (in separate games, but wouldn't that be sick if it was the same one!) And a very special listener recap from Brian Nguyen on his time at Ichiro's number retirement. Then, in position players: Anthony Volpe is still trying to get out of his slump, we've got hit streaks on hit streaks, Jahmai Jones emerges as a candidate for Team Korea, Mookie is impressed by the Grandson of the Wind, and Steven Kwan is the first player featured in MLB's new Youtube series No Easy Outs.In pitching, Mets #4 prospect Jonah Tong is called up to The Show, Shinnosuke Ogasawara gets the "diminutive Asian" treatment (he's 5' 11" and 205 lbs btw), Naomi argues a strong case for Bryan Woo winning the Cy Young, Yu Darvish holds a masterclass on the Art of Pitching, and Riley O'Brien is soaring. Finally, Ohtani continues to prove his status as the GOAT: going on an offensive tear vs. the Angels when the rest of the Dodgers can't buy a hit, taking a liner off the thigh and staying in the game, and making friends with a Padres heckler who can't help but love the guy. On today's episode of The Sporting Tribune Today, host Grant Mona recaps a busy night for Los Angeles. He'll break down the Dodgers' 6-3 victory over the Reds, a game where Clayton Kershaw pitched five solid innings, and Will Smith and Miguel Rojas hit key doubles to secure the win. Then, Grant will dive into the Rams' recent roster decisions as they cut their roster down to the final 53, highlighting some of the more surprising moves and what they mean for the team going into the season. Produced by: Grant Mona
Clayton Kershaw must have heard us talking about him not getting enough strikeouts, because he threw five one-run innings with six strikeouts to beat the Reds tonight. The Los Angeles Dodgers offense showed up, putting up another big sixth inning to pull away. Will Smith homered, Miguel Rojas had a two-run double, and the offense scored at least six runs for the third straight game. The only negatives were the pregame news that Alex Vesia is on the injured list with what he describes as a mild oblique strain, Alex Call leaving the game with lower back soreness, and Andy Pages continuing to be bad at running the bases. But a win is a win! Tube in all season long! Leave a voicemail or text the Friend of the Show hotline!
Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner break down MLB Tuesday betting. The latest MLB Tuesday betting preview from RJ Bell's Dream Preview podcast, hosted by Munaf Manji with Griffin Warner, sets the stage for a critical slate of late-August matchups as teams position themselves for the postseason. The episode dives deep into 14 games on the betting board, breaking down pitching matchups, recent team form, and value spots for bettors. Manji and Warner are riding an 83% hot streak on best bets, going 10–2 in their last 12, and their confidence and banter drive an engaging analysis that blends sharp betting insight with humor and strong statistical breakdowns. The show begins with Red Sox vs Orioles, where Lucas Giolito's improved form and Kyle Braddish's return from Tommy John make Boston and the over intriguing plays. The Braves vs Marlins matchup highlights Sandy Alcantara's struggles, with Warner leaning to the home underdog Marlins and the over on 7.5 runs. In Rays vs Guardians, Shane Baz's road splits and Cleveland's sputtering offense create strong value on Tampa Bay plus money. The Yankees vs Nationals discussion centers on Luis Gil's control issues and the Yankees' defensive problems, leading both analysts toward overs rather than trusting either side. Toronto vs Minnesota showcases Chris Bassett's dominant home record against Bailey Ober's brutal losing streak, making the Blue Jays run line their clear best bet of the day. The Mets remain a “fade” team, with Sean Manaea's poor record and Jesus Luzardo's strong history against New York cementing Philadelphia as the sharper side. Brewers vs Diamondbacks is pegged as a potential shootout, with Jacob Misiorowski's walk issues and Arizona's power threats pointing to an over. Royals vs White Sox highlights Chicago's lack of offense despite Martin Pérez's decent outings, pushing Kansas City as the stronger side. Other key breakdowns include Pirates vs Cardinals (leaning over), Angels vs Rangers (under 8.5 tabbed as Warner's best bet despite Corbin's volatility), and Astros vs Rockies (only playable through alternate run lines given Houston's -315 price). Padres vs Mariners positions Dylan Cease as a value underdog against a hittable Luis Castillo, while Cubs vs Giants trends under behind Matthew Boyd's road splits and Justin Verlander's home tendencies. The card wraps with Reds vs Dodgers, where Nick Martinez's inconsistency and Clayton Kershaw's diminished form suggest the over nine runs is the sharper angle. Beyond game analysis, the hosts highlight Pregame.com promotions, including a Beat Greg Shaker college football contest with $1,000 in prizes and a 20% sitewide discount using the promo code SLUGGER20. This synergy between MLB betting insights, college football contests, and broader handicapping content reinforces Pregame's role as a hub for sharp sports betting information. From an editorial perspective, the podcast succeeds by pairing statistical depth with practical wagering advice, appealing both to seasoned bettors and newer fans seeking guidance. The mix of trends, fantasy baseball angles, and promotional tie-ins keeps the content dynamic. My commentary is that the show's value lies not just in picks, but in its process: highlighting faulty lines, identifying exploitable splits, and stressing the importance of context when interpreting numbers.
