Episode 77 of The Mental Game brings on one of the most mentally locked-in coaches in college basketball: Allison Guth of Loyola Chicago.Guth has been a coach in college hoops since 2004, when she left a corporate job at Coca-Cola to dive into a coaching career that has taken her to Missouri, DePaul, Yale, Northwestern and now Loyola Chicago.Guth values the mental game as much as any coach in the country, imploring her team to be vulnerable, to seek out help when they need it, and to remain connected. After broadcasting her team's games this season on ESPN+ and interviewing Guth routinely about her team's ups and downs, I felt she'd be the ideal Mental Game Guest — and I was spot on. On The Mental Game, Guth…Explains why she starts practice with a “Positive Circle.”Delves into the value of vulnerability on her teams.Explores the tricky mental health implications of college sports' massive changes. And much, much more…The Mental Game podcast is produced by Sam Brief and music is courtesy of David Brief and Channel J. The Van Halen...Van Hagar Years, for many years were shelved after "The Breakup Number Two" between Sammy Hagar and the Van Halen Brothers. However, in 2023 The Van Hagar Albums finally...FINALLY received the re-master treatment in "The Collection II". The result is a mostly satisfying box set, especially for the album "5150". While Sammy and Eddie reconciled a bit before Eddie Van Halen's passing in 2020, you get the feeling this re-release could've been better if they had collaborated on this release together...at the very least they would've stopped some...well...dumb creative decisions that came with the release. Overall, still a great re-release...IT'S 5150 TIME!!! #ddclassicrock #podcast #vanhalen #vanhagar #redrocker #eddievanhalen #thecollectionII #redrocker - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1YgtUHBiRYuoeqfdfxwcVz?si=50bqMfCCT06LeKwXna-58Q
Fifteen years ago, actor Thomas Jane and David James Kelly co-wrote the script for “The Lycan.” Different attempts to bring it to life fell by the wayside, but the time has come and the first issue is now available through Comixology. Here's a look at the story: The story takes place in 1777. After a successful expedition in Africa, a hardened band of international big game hunters set out to return home with their bounty when their voyage takes a turn and the men are shipwrecked off a small British island. Under the tutelage of Absalom Coffin, the men make a deal with Lord Ludgate, ruler of the island. In exchange for fresh supplies and the repair of their good ship The Calydonian, the men are assigned a task they are particularly well suited for: find the Berserking Beasts that have been eating his subjects, including a group of young Benedictine Nuns, and destroy them. But the men encounter more sinister and dangerous beasts than anyone expected. In this interview, Thomas gives us the history behind “The Lycan” and how we've come to issue #1. He talks about working with write Mike Carey and artist Diego Yapur and the amazing talent they brought to the project. He gives a glimpse of what's to come over this six-issue series. We take a look at some of the characters, including Absalom and Sister Trent and what inspired them. Thomas also gives his take on the look of the comic and how he got into comics in his youth.

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike thinks the longer this goes with Aaron Rodgers, means the more Rodgers is waiting for things to go south with JJ McCarthy in Minnesota. Mike questioned why the Steelers are bending at the knee for a Jets reject. Mike said the throwing session with DK Metcalf was encouraging, but he doesn't think that means everything is set in stone. Mike clarified a few things that people think could be holding up the process here, but none apply to the situation. Is the Minnesota thing still out there? Mike thinks Rodgers really wants to go to Minnesota instead of Pittsburgh and he's waiting this out as long as he can. The guys asked Mike about a few rule changes made that will be set for the '25 season.

NASA did something absolutely mind-blowing—they sent a spacecraft straight into the Sun's atmosphere, and it actually survived! The Parker Solar Probe became the first human-made object to touch the Sun, diving through its scorching outer layer, the corona. Scientists designed it with an ultra-powerful heat shield to withstand temperatures over 2,500°F (1,377°C). As it swooped through, it collected data on solar winds and charged particles, helping us understand how the Sun affects space weather. This could one day help protect satellites, astronauts, and even power grids on Earth from dangerous solar storms. The fact that a tiny spacecraft made it through the Sun's fury and kept sending back data is just crazy—and it's only getting closer!

In this episode - John runs down the fecal effect of Trump. Everything he touches turns to crap. The stock market is tanking due to his tariff reversals, airplanes are crashing due to him firing air traffic controllers, and important allies are turning against us due to his alliance with Vladmir Putin. Then, he welcomes back comedians Leighann Lord to talk about her new book "Fast Famous Women" and Carole Montgomery to chat about the rerelease of her Showtime specials "Funny Women of a Certain Age". Then winding it up, John jokes with comedian Rhonda Hansome and they take calls from listeners on current news and pop culture.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
