Distractions abound in our culture! So often, we are tempted to focus on our comfort and what's easy, instead of what's important and what's best. Misplaced priorities will eventually catch up with us, and even displace the rulership of God in our lives. So, what should our priorities be, and how do we displace our misplaced priorities?
How does it feel when your enemy gets blessed, but you believe they don't deserve it? What if that vile, evil, wicked person perpetuated horrible acts against your family? What happens in our lives when self-centeredness takes over, when we can't forgive someone who wounded us, and when we feel our life is spinning out of control? Well, we must slay self-centeredness!
There is no God-forsaken place nor God-forsaken person. What if your entire city repented and turned to God. Can you imagine what that would look like? What if, even the mayor and the president issued a call to fast and repent of sin? What would it take for such a miracle of revival to occur? What would it take for lost people in your life to become born again? Who does God want to transform through you?
Main point: God is free to lavish his mercy on anyone, even nations like Nineveh. 1. An angry heart remains merciless (v. 1-3) 2. A loving God remains merciful (v. 4-11) 3. What about your heart? (v. 11)
Main point: God rescues the wrong kind of people. 1. Imminent Destruction (v. 1-4) 2. Immediate Remorse (v. 5-9) 3. Insane Mercy (v. 10)
