I've been told that if I were in a horror movie, I would die first. But can I help it if I'm curious, chaotic, and solitary? Anyway, here's a look at some solo paranormal investigations I did around Halloween 2021 in two North Carolina state parks: Eno River State Park in Durham and William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh. Highlights include: - phantom footsteps - a breath on my neck while I was alone - an abandoned house in the woods - a solo Estes session in an environment where I was being told fairly clearly that I wasn't wanted Sign up for my newsletter!
We received a wonderful letter from one of the children of the Dr. Walton, someone James Johnson spoke of. Mary provides us another slice of the history into what is now William B. Umstead State Park.
James Johnson grew up in William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh North Carolina during Jim Crow laws and Segregation. At that there were two separate parks; Crabtree Creek State Park, and Reedy Creek State Park. His father, James Johnson, was one of three African American Superintendents for the three segregated NC State Parks. This is a fascinating conversation on many levels. James Johnson is a great historian and story teller of North Carolina Raleigh/Cary history.
We have a special live segment “Ask A Ranger” where we talk with Jess Phillips, a park ranger at William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, and Steve McMurray, a park ranger at Lake Johnson Park. We discussed what it’s like to be a ranger, how to get started in the field and the weirdest things they’ve ever seen as rangers.
