Episode 15 - Too Wise For Our Own Good

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 18, 2019 16:01

Jesus was crucified on a cross because it seemed foolish that a carpenter from Nazareth could be the son of God and savior of the world. Religious leaders of the time created their own ideas of what the coming messiah would look like. Jesus did not fit the bill. God provided hundreds of very specific prophecies as to who and how the messiah would come into the world and though Jesus would fulfill every single one, he was put to death by the "wise" and "intelligent" leaders. So, how does your "wisdom" blind your view of God? Does salvation need to look a certain way in order for you to buy in? This episode explores the link between those who crucified Christ and our own need for God to do things our way.

As a Christian you are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus here on Earth. For the majority of us that is lived out by doing various acts of service for others such as feeding the hungry and giving to the poor. However, there is another side of serving others that isn't as obvious as giving money to the man on the median. What if serving others is much more subtle? This episode examines another facet of what it means to be His hands and feet and how Jesus moves through His people, people like you, to do His amazing works.    This is meant to be a conversation, a journey for all who listen. Grace...what is grace? What does that word mean to you? Is it comforting? Is it foreign? Grace is a hard concept to understand simply because it is unlike anything we are taught in this world. In fact I would go so far as to say it is the opposite of what we are taught in this world. In this episode we look to a powerful and insightful verse in the book of Romans to help us figure out to what grace is, who it is for and at what price it comes.  This is meant to be a conversation, a journey for all who listen. Episode 8 - God's Love or Coincidence?

When was the last time you felt the overwhelming love of God? What about the last time you saw a crazy coincidence? Most of us have been blind to see the loving hand of God the Father working in our lives because we have been made to believe these miracles we witness are just a coincidence. The enemy has been hard at work to disguise God's loving works for us as seemingly insignificant everyday moments. It's time to wake up and be vigilant to God's unconditional love that surrounds us. Through discipline and intentional effort we can attune our eyes, ears and hearts to see the amazing gifts of love that our Heavenly father pours out on us daily.   Romans 8:37-39  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.   This is meant to be a conversation, a journey for all who listen. Have you ever stopped to examine what your prayers might sound like to God? Are they heartfelt? Are they full of fluff and church-y words? In the verse just before the Lord's Prayer, Jesus warned us against reciting vain words when talking to the Father but I fear for most of us that is exactly what the Lord's Prayer has become, vain thinkless recitation. In this episode you will hear what God has revealed to me about how He wants us to chat with Him in prayer and it might not be what you expect to hear.   "Restraining prayer, we cease to fight, Prayer makes the Christian's armour bright; And satan trembles when he sees The weakest saint upon his knees.”      William Cowper        "Unanswered yet? Nay, do not say, ungranted, Perhaps your part is not yet fully done. The work began when first your prayer was offered, And God will finish what He has begun. If you will keep the incense burning there, You shall have your desire- Sometime, somewhere!”           Ophelia R. Browning

The choice is eternal and the choice is yours alone. To believe in God's existence and goodness or to deny it. In today's world we are accustomed to having a wealth of information about virtually any topic at the drop of a dime. However, when it comes to the questions of God we find ourselves doubting Him due to lack of proof, information and reasoning. This episode will explore the link between Original Sin and our own prideful and doubting ways. Full knowledge of God is incomprehensible to the human mind but through Jesus Christ we have been given a way to know the creator of the universe, the creator of you.
