A Qmen Perspective with Kevin and Johnny Boy The God Thing, the Blue Angel, and the Battle to Remember Who Humanity Really Is Banjo Bread, Solar Storms, and a Grand Rising Start In this episode of A Qmen Perspective, hosts Kevin and Johnny Boy open with gratitude to BBS Radio TV and a warm “Grand Rising” greeting for Asha and Q Day. They promote several related BBS Radio TV shows, including All Learning Reimagined, Whiplash Talk, Project Review with Q&A, and A St. Thomas Show. The hosts then ease into personal conversation, with Johnny Boy talking about making organic bread and Kevin sharing concerns about aches, fatigue, joint pain, and possible ascension symptoms connected to solar activity and incoming energy. When the Sun Feels Different and the Body Starts Talking Kevin and Johnny Boy discuss the possibility that people are feeling physical symptoms from solar energy, photon streams, coronal mass ejections, and ascension-related recalibration. Kevin references astrophysicist Stefan Burns as someone he follows for information about solar activity, earthquakes, volcanoes, and space weather. Johnny Boy agrees that many people seem to be experiencing similar symptoms and suggests that the sun itself feels different in color, heat, and energetic impact. They invite listeners to call in if they are experiencing similar symptoms or energetic changes. Opening the ForThePeople.Space Files The main discussion centers on articles from ForThePeople.Space, which Kevin and Johnny Boy say they have been covering regularly because they believe the site provides important information connected to Q, Asha, awakening, and disclosure. They explain that many listeners may not have time to read the articles themselves, so the hosts offer a “CliffsNotes” style discussion. The first and primary article they examine is titled “The God Thing,” categorized under aliens and the Great Awakening, and tied to a movie script by Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek. Star Trek as a Hidden Memory Trigger Kevin and Johnny Boy discuss the article's claim that Star Trek was not merely entertainment, but a kind of documentary or encoded reminder meant to awaken humanity to a future without war, poverty, or disease. They describe how Gene Roddenberry's hopeful vision of humanity touched viewers because it stirred hidden truths buried deep within them. The hosts frame Star Trek as part of a larger awakening narrative, where fictional stories may carry spiritual or historical clues that help people remember who they really are. Gene Roddenberry's Shelved Script and the False God Ship The hosts summarize Roddenberry's rejected feature-film script “The God Thing.” In the script, Spock senses danger, the Enterprise is refitted above Earth, and crowds on Earth begin receiving impressions that the second coming of God is near. A massive alien ship approaches, destroys another Starfleet vessel, and sends a holographic probe aboard the Enterprise. The hologram appears as Jesus, leading Kirk to identify it as God, but the crew eventually discovers that the being is not divine. Instead, the article describes it as an alien computer-ship entity pretending to be God. Project Blue Beam Echoes and a Holographic Second Coming Kevin and Johnny Boy connect Roddenberry's script to Project Blue Beam and the idea of a staged alien invasion or false second coming. They note that the script was completed in 1975, around the same general era in which Werner von Braun is said to have warned about a fake alien threat. The hosts suggest that Roddenberry may have been foreshadowing or exposing a false religious event involving holographic deception. They emphasize that in the script, the supposed God figure is eventually revealed as Lucifer, a deceiver tied to religious manipulation across planets. Pleasure, Pain, and the Old Empire Trap The discussion turns to a graphic scene from the script involving Kirk being tested through sexual temptation and physical discomfort. Kevin and Johnny Boy interpret this as symbolic of what the article calls the Old Empire's capture systems, which lure spirits through euphoric pleasure mixed with pain. They connect this to Q-related teachings about death, the tunnel of light, memory erasure, and reincarnation traps. Kevin says this reminds him of warnings not to automatically “go into the light,” while Johnny Boy adds that such systems are presented as a way spirits are allegedly captured, erased, and recycled. The Roswell Thread and the Memory of the Spirit The hosts then move into Roswell-related material from the article, referencing the alien pilot Airl and the 1947 Roswell interview narrative. The article describes Airl as speaking about the Domain Expeditionary Force and its efforts to counter Old Empire religious systems. Kevin and Johnny Boy discuss claims that powerful beings from the “creation light ship” incarnated on Earth as teachers to help humanity regain memory and spiritual power. They mention Buddha, Lao Tzu, Jesus, and other figures as examples of beings whose teachings were allegedly distorted by Old Empire operatives. Jesus, Forgotten Power, and the Original Sin of Amnesia Kevin and Johnny Boy emphasize the article's interpretation that Jesus taught humans they could do the works he did and even greater things, suggesting equality of spiritual potential rather than permanent inferiority. They connect humanity's loss of memory and spiritual power to electrocution, DNA manipulation, and Old Empire control systems. Johnny Boy suggests that this manipulation may be the real “original sin,” while Kevin imagines a future in which medical and energetic technologies remove fear of death, restore bodies, extend life, and allow people to retain memory and identity without repeating cycles of amnesia. A Warning About Old Empire Scripts and Religious Defense The hosts discuss the article's claim that Old Empire operatives promoted the idea that Lucifer would come speaking against all religions, thereby conditioning people to defend old doctrines rather than listen to their own spirit. Kevin and Johnny Boy interpret this as a clever control mechanism meant to keep people locked into religious programming. They also discuss the idea that Project Blue Beam has already been stopped by White Hats, President Trump, and military operations that allegedly destroyed the relevant technology, preventing a false alien invasion or fake religious spectacle from being used against humanity. The Blue Angel, Moses, and a Radical Reinterpretation After a music break, the hosts return with the article's section on the Blue Angel, a Byzantine mosaic figure described in the article as the fallen angel Lucifer. They examine claims about the Church of Saint Apollonaris in Ravenna, Italy, and its mosaic of the sheep and goats, with red, purple, and blue symbolism. The article associates blue with coldness, cruelty, underworld energy, and death, while red represents warmth, light, life, and love. Kevin and Johnny Boy also discuss the article's controversial claim that Moses was connected to Lucifer or the fallen angel, citing Michelangelo's horned sculpture of Moses as part of that interpretation. Disclosure Day, Spielberg, and the Claimed Collapse of Blue Beam The hosts then cover material involving Serge Monast, Project Blue Beam, Jeff Bezos, DARPA, Epstein, Mossad, the CIA, Jesuits, Chinese Communist Party operations, Canadian bases, and alleged military actions shutting down Blue Beam infrastructure. They also discuss the article's claims about Steven Spielberg's film Disclosure Day, which the article says was originally intended to help launch Project Blue Beam but was altered after White Hat operations dismantled key parts of the plan. Kevin and Johnny Boy present the material as part of a larger disclosure narrative in which fear-based alien manipulation is being replaced by truth. Mark Twain, Being Fooled, and the Challenge of Disclosure The hosts briefly move to a second, shorter article about Mark Twain, centered on the quote, “It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they've been fooled.” Kevin and Johnny Boy connect that idea to future disclosure, the expected EBS, and the challenge of helping “normies” accept information they may have rejected when hearing it from friends or family. They suggest that when official disclosure arrives, many people may remember that they had previously been told similar things and begin to understand that they were fooled by old systems. Old Monkeys, Bad Jokes, and a Lighthearted Landing Near the end, Kevin and Johnny Boy shift into humor, trading jokes about aging, aches, natural resources, attention deficit, hearing problems, marriage, and dating. This lighthearted ending balances the heavier discussion of spiritual deception, false gods, and disclosure. They thank listeners for spending time with “a couple of old monkeys on the bar,” and remind everyone to go within the heart, stay in loving frequencies, stay calm, flow like water, remain grounded, reduce phone and computer use, and spend time in nature and the sun. Closing the Perspective With Heart and Grounding The episode closes with Kevin and Johnny Boy saying they enjoyed the discussion, even though it mostly focused on one major ForThePeople.Space article. They emphasize that the material was important and worth exploring carefully. The hosts tell listeners they will return the following Saturday, June 20, for another live show on BBS Radio TV, continuing their discussions of ForThePeople.Space articles on A Qmen Perspective. Their final message is rooted in love, grounding, inner awareness, and preparing for future disclosure.

Send us Fan MailKen Corkins and pastor Rocky Ellison continue “Pondering the Bible” (Season 18, Episode 16) by finishing Romans 7:7–25 from the Revised Standard Version. They discuss Paul's teaching that the law is holy and reveals sin—especially the internal sin of coveting—while sin exploits commandments as a “base of operations,” making forbidden things more tempting. Using Prohibition and a basketball-rules illustration, they explain that God's rules are meant to prevent self-inflicted harm, not punish, and that ignorance doesn't remove consequences. Paul's anguish highlights the ongoing war between a believer's mind that delights in God's law and a flesh still captive to sin; sanctification is the lifelong process of aligning mind and behavior. They close with Paul's cry for deliverance from the “body of death,” gratitude for Jesus, and anticipation of Romans 8's “no condemnation.” 00:00 Welcome Back and Setup 01:09 Reading Romans Seven 04:03 Law Reveals Sin 08:22 Rules and Consequences 14:15 Carnal Nature and Original Sin 16:39 The Inner War Explained 22:25 Anguish and Two Laws 25:31 Body of Death and No Condemnation 30:30 Takeaways and Next EpisodeNEW!: Rate us at Podchaser Find us at www.pondergmc.org. Why do so many churches feel spiritually thin, aesthetically bland, and disconnected from the deep longings of modern people? In this lecture, the Rev'd Dr Jamie Franklin argues that the crisis of the modern West is not merely theological or moral but rather aesthetic in nature. Drawing on Alexander Schmemann, David Bentley Hart, Iain McGilchrist, St Anselm, and the Christian tradition, he explores a striking idea: that Original Sin was, at its heart, a refusal to receive creation as a gift and offer it back to God in thanksgiving. This talk traces how Christianity once understood the world as sacramentally charged with divine meaning and how that vision was gradually eclipsed by modern secular assumptions.Topics include:• Original Sin as a failure of “original blessing”• The sacramental vision of creation• The Reformation, iconoclasm, and the loss of symbolic thinking• Beauty, liturgy, and the recovery of the sacred• Why the Eucharist stands at the centre of a truly Christian vision of the world• What parish churches can teach a disenchanted cultureIf you've ever wondered why beauty matters, why ancient liturgy continues to attract people in a secular age, or how Christianity can recover a sense of the sacred, then this conversation is for you.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JOIN US FOR IRREVEREND LIVE! - Holy Trinity Church Winchester, Tuesday 23rd June, 7pm: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/irreverend-live-with-tom-daniel-and-jamie-tickets-1990101934458?aff=oddtdtcreatorEmail the Show with comments and questions! irreverendpod@gmail.com You make this podcast possible. Acts 6In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.SummaryIn this episode of "Right Side Up," Danielle Strickland and James Sholl explore themes of inclusion, power dynamics, and community within the early church, as depicted in Acts 6. They discuss how the early church addressed issues of neglect and racism by empowering marginalized groups, specifically the Hellenists, to lead and distribute resources. This approach is highlighted as a model for modern communities to correct systemic imbalances and foster inclusivity. The conversation emphasizes the importance of listening to underrepresented voices and sharing power to reflect the spirit of the gospel. This series was originally preached at James' church Wellspring Worship Centre - a diverse and Jesus loving community found in Toronto. Read Online“When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” John 16:21–22When we live fully united to Christ, we can endure anguish with confidence and determination. Without Christ, even small, temporary trials become so burdensome that we tend to avoid them. Though trials are not desirable in themselves, God permits them to strengthen us in virtue and prepare us for eternity. The anguish that accompanies them is temporary, but the victory over them is eternal. If we refuse to endure the temporary, we risk losing the eternal. Our Gospel illustrates this point well. The purpose of pregnancy is to cooperate with God's creative power and to bring forth into the world a precious new soul who will exist for all eternity. What a joy it is for parents to learn of their pregnancy, endure the nine months and the labor, hold their newborn child, and accompany that child throughout life and into Heaven. In order to give birth to that child, the woman must endure labor pains. These pains are not desirable or sought for their own sake, but a woman willingly endures them as a necessary condition for the great joy of new life. Afterward, a loving mother does not regret having a baby because the labor was painful. The joy of holding her newborn is so rewarding that it puts the pain in perspective.Just as a woman willingly endures labor pains for the joy of new life, we too must embrace temporary trials to receive eternal blessings. Trials are a consequence of Original Sin. In the beginning, God did not will that trials would be part of our lives. After the Fall, many forms of trials entered human existence. To enable us to overcome these trials, the Son of God took on flesh and overcame everything we endure. Therefore, when we face trials, God looks at us and invites us to follow His example: to carry our crosses with His strength, to do what He already did. When Jesus told His Apostles, “So you also are now in anguish,” He was speaking not only to them but also to us. Jesus was fully aware of the anguish the Apostles would endure through His coming Passion, and He is fully aware of every anguish we will endure. His awareness is active, offering hope: “I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” This is His promise to each of us as we confidently endure the trials of life. Our endurance will lead to eternal joy, for we will share in the victory of Christ's Resurrection. Reflect today on whether you are willing to endure the anguish of temporary trials so as to share in the eternal blessing that will come after. Are you living for what is temporary or eternal? Do you avoid trials out of fear, or do you embrace them with trust in Christ's promise? Reflect on how you might unite your daily struggles with His Passion and seek His grace to persevere. Turn to Jesus, Who has already endured every trial and triumphed, and imitate Him so that you share in His victory and rejoice with Him for all eternity. My determined Lord, You fully aligned Your will with the Father's by embracing the great anguish caused by Your Passion and exhorted Your disciples to imitate You. You call me to do the same. Please give me the grace and wisdom I need to keep my eyes on the eternal and glorious end to which I am called, so that I can endure every temporary anguish with joy and hope. Mark England is a TEDx speaker, cofounder and head coach of Enlifted, and has spent 19 years researching and coaching on the transformative power of words and stories. In this episode, Mark breaks down why the language you use (both out loud and inside your own head) is either expanding or constricting your life, how the victim mentality is harder to spot than you think, and why learning to play with your words might be the simplest and most powerful thing you can do to change your health, your relationships, and the story you've been telling yourself for years. 00:00 Confluence Festival 00:05 What "Abracadabra" Actually Means 02:59 Why Spelling is Literally Casting Spells 05:21 The Words That Trap You 08:29 How to Break Your Scariest Stories 10:16 Clean Up the House, Then Throw the Party 12:43 The Original Sin of Coaching 15:01 What a 6th Grader Taught This Coach 17:40 The Kid Who Wanted to Be Sad First 23:29 What Regenerative Coaching Actually Is 30:11 Two Words That Changed a Dying Man's Life 33:22 How to Play With Your Words 38:15 The Real Pre-Workout Fueling Your Workouts 41:42 The Definition of Victim Mentality 45:51 The Simplest Definition of Mindset Ever 54:08 Why Every Question Is a Quest
Send us Fan MailIn Esther 3, we are introduced to one of the most prideful, vile characters in all of Scripture: Haman the Agagite. Haman is a character that has one sole aim in mind: the elevation of Haman. In this chapter, Haman is concerned with the annihilation of a people group he believes should no longer exist: the Jews. He is able to persuade the king to write an order to destroy the Jewish race entirely throughout Persia. This is further complicated by Haman's specific hatred toward Mordecai (Esther's guardian before becoming Queen). This episode looks at the fact that evil exists in this world and that furthermore, Christians will experience persecution in some fashion. Finally, despite the confusion we see around us, we don't have to fear. God still has a plan and we can trust Him.

Read Online“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink.” John 6:53–55Human reason and free will are the most precious natural gifts God gave us. They are what separate us from every other animal. Human reason enables us to think critically, understand concepts, and arrive at conclusions. Central to our human reason is our free will, which enables us to act upon the conclusions we reach or to reject them, choosing instead to follow our disordered appetites and misguided desires. Though human reason was wounded by Original Sin, it was not completely destroyed. We must diligently strive to act rationally and in accord with our common sense, adhering to the natural law that God has written on our souls. However, even though a rational approach to natural law will bring us a long way toward right living, it is not sufficient to lead us into the deeper truths of eternal salvation, promised to us in Jesus' discourse on the Bread of Life, on which we have been reflecting.By natural reason alone, the Eucharist makes no sense. How could that which appears to be a piece of bread be the “Flesh of the Son of Man” and a cup that appears to be wine be His Blood? Yet when we incorporate divine revelation into our reasoning, the Eucharist as the Flesh and Blood of Jesus, the Son of God, makes perfect sense: “...my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink.” The Eucharist makes sense, but only when we listen with faith to the revelation Jesus gave to us. Today's Gospel provides the clearest teaching we have ever received on this Precious Gift.Today's Gospel begins by relating that “The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?'” (John 6:52). They were quarreling because they were not opening their human reason to the light of Jesus' revealed truth. In this exchange, the Eternal and Incarnate Son of God was speaking a divine truth to them. Jesus spoke clearly and plainly, but their minds remained closed. They heard His words, but they closed themselves off to the Father's Voice, which testified on Jesus' behalf that all He said was true. It seems that some who listened began to understand and believe, prompting the quarrel among them. When you read our Lord's words, what do you hear? Do you hear the Father's Voice in the depths of your conscience, confirming the truthfulness of what you read? Do you hear the Living Word of God echoing within your mind and soul? Do you allow that Word to inform your human reason so that you can conclude that the Eucharist is real, that it is the Flesh and Blood of the Son of God, offered to you so that you can share in eternal life? No amount of human study or intelligence alone will ever convince us of divine truths. God alone can convince us, but only if we listen to His Voice.Truths of faith, such as our belief in the Eucharist, must be more certain than any other natural truth we believe. No rational person would deny the reality of the physical world we see with our eyes or touch with our hands. The noises we hear, the food we taste, and the aroma we smell are all judged as real because we believe what our five senses perceive. When our consciences perceive divine truths, those truths are more certain than all sensory knowledge. Why? Because God is the one directly communicating to us. Reflect today on Jesus' crystal-clear teaching on the Eucharist. We must hear and understand what He said. Our faith in the Eucharist must become certain. Allow the Father's Voice to resonate within your mind so that you are more certain that the Eucharist is the Flesh and Blood of the Son of God than anything else you believe. Strengthen your faith, knowing that His Flesh and Blood bring you to eternal life. My Eucharistic Lord, I believe that You gave Your life for the salvation of all and that the gift of eternal salvation is given to us through the Sacraments. I believe that the Eucharist is Your Flesh and Blood, Your Divine Essence. Please strengthen my faith so that I am more open to the abundant grace You wish to bestow through this Precious Gift. In 1950, the City College of New York pulled off one of the greatest Cinderella stories in sports history, winning both the NIT and NCAA tournaments in the same season. The team, made up largely of Black and Jewish players, became a symbol of possibility. Within months, a point shaving scandal shattered that legacy. There's this old adage of "Opinions are like aholes. Everyone has one and they all stink". So in that spirit, we thought we'd share some of ours this week. As teens, the British tome, Metal Forces, was a fave. Every year the magazine presented their "Reader's Poll" results. And we recently stumbled on the results from '83 in Issue 3. So we figured we'd give them the once over and cast our own ballots. Forty three years late. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we pay tribute to Ross The Boss. Musically, we crank some Henry Rollins, Trauma, Fulci, Witchslayer, Original Sin, Stormkeep and introduce Austria's Rambow in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up!
The Thing in prison!!!?? What dastardly devilry is this? Why would this happen? What is going to become of our ever-loving blue-eyed thing? Will he have to wear black and white stripes? is he going to shank someone? What will happen? Ok, we are not getting to the deep in prison stuff yet...but that is what is on the cover. I guess we do not need to wade into this yet. See what I did there...with the picture of Reed and his short pants. Well, it amuses me. It may not amuse you. In fact, it may anger you. I may make you so angry that you want to punch my head off. See, I did it again. I just cannot help making a dad joke now and then. Sometimes they come so naturally. Sometimes they do not. And sometimes they walk over and arrest me with a big, giant gun because the joke was so bad. Just like that. But I am not a big rock monster. I am not even a rock man. I am a rock dude. OK, I am not a rock dude. I am just a man, not a monster, so do not put me in the monster jail. See, I am a funny, funny man. Hey, what are you doing? Why are you coming over here? Don't push me to the ground! Don't take away my right to be not funny! Man, this is not funny. This is just like getting gassed by my own gas producing arrow. Why would you do that to me? Now I am going to cry. Sometimes I am just out of ideas, and you get these weird ramblings. We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. Psychologist, behavioral geneticist and writer Kathryn Paige Harden joins co-hosts Jennifer Maritza McCauley and Whitney Terrell to discuss her new book, Original Sin: On the Genetics of Vice, the Problem of Blame, and the Future of Forgiveness. Harden talks about the chemistry of human behavior, how society has shaped its views of different communities, the relationship between hereditability and perceived responsibility, and how those opinions shift as science unlocks more mysteries of the human genome. She also reflects on how her Christian upbringing has influenced her thinking and considers what influence new genetic information might have on our legal system. Angry friends make broken hearts. And broken hearts usually result in death. Nobody is going to die...yet...but I think the poetry of the moment may move us as we travel through these broken dreams and broken promises. So, let's break this open, shall we? Broken bones, or bone fractures, are a very common injury and can affect anyone at any age. Anyone can break a bone. But only Reed can stretch a broken bone. That is a horrible mental image, but that is what I am here for. To bring you horrible mental images to keep you up all night. A broken heart is a metaphor. It represents the feeling one has when great loss or deep longing creates intense emotional stress or pain. In brief, it sucks. All in all, I would not choose this service. But it happens. And how we deal with a broken heart says a lot about a person. I punch things. Don't judge. I love using broken rock in my landscaping projects. I just like the look aesthetic of pebbles, gravel, and stone around the yard. There is a satisfying feeling when you step on the rocky path and feel the crunch. It is clean, and pretty. And the more rock you lay down, the less mowing you need to do. A broken, or perforated eardrum, is a hole or tear in the thin tissue between the ear canal and the middle ear. This is caused by children yelling loudly in your ear. There is no other way that this happens. That is it. It must stop. "Broken Ground" is the name of a 2018 crime thriller written by Val McDermid. Apparently, it is the fifth in her Karen Pirie series. I know nothing about any of that. But I am sure that it does not feature a scene with Fantastic Four or the Avengers. But I could be wrong. I looked up what a broken MacGuffin was and tripped over a dismantled MacGuffin. That is where you break up the thing that runs the plot and make it a fetch quest. Interesting, but not relevant. But that is par for the course. Broken skin, including cuts, scratches, or chronic fissures, occurs when the epidermis is damaged, leaving it vulnerable to infection and moisture loss. Or it is when you get an ouchie. Sometimes a band aid works. Other times you need to cauterize the wound. Either way, you are probably gonna be crying. Suck it up!!! And there we go. I hope that this did not break you too much with our wacky random thoughts and off topic musings. If we did, let us know. Or don't. You just have to be you buddy. Question: Wherein consists the sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell? Answer: The sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell, consists in the guilt of Adam's first sin, the want of original righteousness, and the corruption of his whole nature, which is commonly called Original Sin; together with all actual transgressions which proceed from it. The Catechism introduces us to Mary's Immaculate Conception and explains why God preserved her “immune from all stain of original sin.” Fr. Mike answers a common question asked in response to this revelation: “Why didn't God just preserve us all from original sin?” His answer might surprise you. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 490-494. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. In this episode of the Art of Catholic Podcast, Matthew Leonard sits down with Catholic Scripture scholar Curtis Mitch to unpack the doctrine of original sin and what actually happened in the Garden of Eden. They explore the biblical account of Adam and Eve, what the Church really teaches about the Fall, and how original sin affects every human person today.
We have arrived at the “nugget day” or the In Brief for the sections on The Father and Original Sin. Fr. Mike reiterates the important idea that every human person is good, but every human person is also broken. This brokenness and inclination towards sin is called concupiscence. However, as St. Paul reminds us “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Romans 5:20). Fr. Mike concludes with the sentiment of hope that we believe that the world has been established and set free by God's love. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 413-421. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Fr. Mike explores the hard battle which each and every one of us must face, the battle with sin. Together, we examine the mystery of us being both free and under the power of the Devil. Fr. Mike emphasizes that if we are unaware of our wounded nature, it can lead to grave errors in our own lives. If we have an attitude that, “since I'm made good, then everything I'm drawn to must be good,” we can fall into temptation and evil. We conclude on a hopeful note; however, that even after we sinned, God did not abandon us to the “domain of death,” and with God's grace, evil will never have the last word. Today's readings are Catechism Paragraphs 407-412. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Fr. Mike examines the consequences of the sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve. He discusses that even though they committed a personal sin, it affected all of human nature. As Fr. Mike states, “Original sin broke the world.” Additionally, we explore the idea that although we are good, we are still broken. Fr. Mike also discusses how each and every one of us has an inclination towards evil and sin known as concupiscence. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 402-406. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Together, with Fr. Mike, we explore the nature of man's first sin or our “freedom put to the test.” Fr. Mike unpacks the importance of us understanding that freedom is not the power to “do what we want,” but rather, the power to “do what I ought.” Though the story of the first sin is that of our first parents, Fr. Mike emphasizes that we still repeat the grave error of the first sin in our own lives by preferring our own perceived “goods” over the “goods” of our Creator and Father in heaven. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 396-401. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
The Catechism introduces us to the Fall, beginning with the reality of sin and the mystery of evil. Fr. Mike highlights the fact that sin is not “a developmental flaw, a psychological weakness, a mistake, or the necessary consequence of an inadequate social structure,” but it is man saying, “not your will, but mine be done” to God. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 385-390.
In the beginning, humans were in friendship with God and in harmony with creation. The Catechism unfolds this harmony and introduces us to the “original justice” that our first parents lost in sin.
