Being The Light is a podcast for people seeking spiritual guidance and a sense of connection during these unprecedented times. Your hosts Tim and Jes talk about current realities, and share our personal experiences and stories to provide perspective - we are truly all in this together and we are all working to create a new earth. The current pandemic is a stressful time, but it is creating an awakening and a shift in consciousness that will be unlike anything we’ve experienced in our lifetime. While it may seem like we are living in the darkness, we are each carrying our own unique light that illuminates the path for others and shows the way.
In this episode Tim and Jes talk about being intentional in our actions, words, and thoughts. As the world continues to evolve and change in the current pandemic and political climate, we must be intentional to break out of old habits and create change.During this time we are guided to create daily intentions - sticky notes, lists, positive affirmations, etc. - and take what we say, create intentionally, and not fall back into habit. Be intentional with yourself, intentional towards others, and intentional in all areas of your life. When you’re frustrated, angry, or upset stop and ask what your intention is in that moment and try to turn it around. We must emanate what we want to attract, otherwise we can repel positivity with our negativity. You will receive confirmation of your beliefs, intentions, and focus. It is a necessity to be mindful of our perspectives and perception. Mindfulness practices that help to ground us in your physical body and create presence help us be present and intentional in our actions. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Spirit Cats oracle cards by Nicole Piar (http://www.nicolepiar.com/spiritcats). The cards guide us to let go of what no longer serves us, to connect with our deeper selves in nature, and to meditate even if that means simply closing our eyes and take deep breaths to recenter. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about the role of lightworkers in the current socioeconomic and social justice movement. They discuss how to balance the light with the darkness, how to shine the light on the truth, and the need to rest and recharge so we can bring our full light to support others during this time. “I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in the darkness, The astonishing light of your own being.” ~ Hafiz We have been in darkness for so long but the light is ascending. As the light begins to lead and demand change, dark forces push against this light. The light is hope. We must acknowledge the reality of the darkness but hold the light and shine the way. Lightworkers are also asked to be Truthworkers during this time. We must confront harsh realities and lean into the shadow to help humanity heal as we create A New Earth. We must step up and speak our truth with love, Integrity, justice, and honesty. During this time the dark energies create duality - us vs. them, making people feel separate, creating narratives around “the other”. The dark seeks to divide us so they can overpower us. As lightworkers, we must face the darkness and engage it directly. We are to shine our light on the lies, fears, and pain and confront the dark. We must be cautious not to hate. We can hate ideas, systems, and beliefs, but hating another human being is dangerous. We’re all under stress and we are seeing how people react under pressure, but we must hold hope that people can grow and change. We must allow grace for ourselves and for others. It is up to all of us to spread love and kindness. It is a time to break down hierarchies, and build community and collaboration. It is a time to lead with light and love and connect with who we really are. “When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” - Audra Lorde To keep the balance and rest and recharge it is necessary to deepen our spiritual practices - connect to our physical body, connect deeply to the wisdom of the heart, write in a journal, meditate, do yoga, say affirmations, breathe, eat a good breakfast, spend time in nature, pray, and get good sleep. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Keeper of the Light oracle cards by Kyle Gray (https://www.kylegray.co.uk/store/keepers-of-the-light). The cards guide us to cut the cords to the past to move beyond limitations, to take time to recharge and to heal so we can use our light to support others, and to see the truth for what it really is and follow our intuition. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about what actions we can take to create A New Earth for the collective. In the midst of the current socioeconomic and political climate we are all called forth to speak up, take action, breakdown and rebuild systems, find our voice and our role, and create systemic change. We are currently in the breakdown, but on the other side is the breakthrough. The New Earth we are creating is built on foundations of equality, justice and human rights for all. As we go through the breakdown and crumbling of the broken systems that perpetuate inequality we feel the discomfort, conflict, and fear that are central to change and transformation. But to get to the other side we must push through the fear and take action. We must believe that change is possible and lean into our fears and find our voice and take action where we are called. Everyone has a role to play. And the roles look different for everyone. In all of our actions and words we are called to be honest, authentic, and heartfelt. Pain, struggle, and heartbreak must happen before the changes for A New Earth begin. Love and kindness is the language of the New Earth and we must work diligently together to make it a reality. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Work Your Light Oracle deck by Rebecca Campbell (https://rebeccacampbell.me/oracledeck/). The cards guide us to take a break to recharge, to ascend to a higher version of ourselves and accept our mission to uplift humanity, and to awaken to a new way of being. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about cleansing and clearing including practices like smudging, salt baths, use of crystals, mediation, and prayer that help to balance internal energy and clear external energies. They chat about letting go of old stories, releasing fears and self-limiting thinking, and setting boundaries with others. Cleansing and clearing is necessary to balance our internal and external energies. Internally, we must ask what negative thoughts, fears, and ways of being are no longer serving us? Externally, we must be mindful of what content we consume and ensure negative energies are not corded to us. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Energy Oracle Deck by Sandra Anne Taylor (https://www.starbringerassociates.com/product/energy-oracle-cards-a-53-card-deck-and-guidebook/). The cards guide us to let go of our old lives and our perceptions of those who we think have it better, to open the door to spirt and walk down the new path where we are being led, and to love ourselves and allow ourselves to receive love from others. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about passion and purpose - your calling, what lights you up, what you were born to do, what brings you joy, and how you are asked to serve others. Living your purpose requires being your authentic and best self. They chat about identifying your childhood joys, taking small daily actions to do what you love, and overcoming fears to allow change. Marianne Williamson said, “You can lose your job but you can’t lose your calling.” A job is “work” and passion/purpose are what you do no matter what because you love it. Your calling is not energetically draining. You can work hard but are still filled-up and happy in the exhaustion at the end of the day. How can you serve the world by being you? There is not a one time answer to finding your purpose, it is a thousand little steps in the right direction. If you wait for the path/ultimate destination to be clear before you take action, then you will never act. Begin by asking yourself, What did you love as a child? What made you different? Do you have something within you that calling to be shared? What small action can you take today towards your passion & purpose? For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Work Your Light Oracle Deck by Rebecca Campbell and Danielle Noel (https://rebeccacampbell.me/oracledeck/). The cards guide us to let go of the old stories, fears, and ways of thinking, to say YES to new possibilities, and to bring our own beauty to the world through our gifts and small daily acts. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about awakening - finding the inner peace in the storm being at peace, becoming aware of the unconscious, seeing through the illusion, and understanding the truth. They chat about the practice of acknowledging and redirecting distorted thinking, seeing through to the truth of disparities being brought to the surface in this pandemic, and getting out of your comfort zone to allow for the magic created by the current changes. “When you possess light within, you see it externally.” Awakening your own light allows you to show up and bring your light to the world in a new way. For lightworkers, this is a time to own being a leader. As your naturally radiate, others look to you for guidance and advice as you possess an innate inner wisdom. Leading doesn’t only mean taking action, but also means holding light for others and influencing situations by maintaining inner peace. During this time we are awakening to the knowledge that we have the power to create change in big and small ways. As Arundhati Roy recently wrote in the piece, The Pandemic is a Portal, for the Finantial Times, "Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next.” We are being asked to step out of our comfort zone and to create a new world, and to hope and dream for new ways of being that we may not have seen before. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the The Healing Mantra Deck by Matt Kahn (https://mattkahn.org/healing-mantra-cards/). The cards guide us to heal heartbreak and let go of all we have lost, accept that we have the right to feel happy and excited despite the heaviness around us, and to release expectations. In this episode Tim and Jes talk about being mindful of your mindset and bringing happiness and joy to your life with the small things. They chat about the tools they use to keep the balance and connect during the pandemic - guilty pleasure television shows, time in the garden, healing salt baths, and video calls with friends and family. And DONUTS, always donuts. Surrendering to joy is an active choice and it requires intention and presence. During this time some of the hustle of life falls away and we can let go of the unnecessary “shoulds” that do not serve a deeper purpose. Beyond the basics for you and your loved ones, you can create time to get still and be mindful to bring yourself back to happiness. We are learning to appreciate the little things as we adapt to the new normal that is creating change in our world. While we are asked to get quiet an pay attention to what energy we emit, we must also learn how to establish clear boundaries so we do not absorb negative energy from the news, social media, and negative people. Focus on the people who bring you joy, light, and laughter. As e.e. cummings wrote, “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Everyday Witch Oracle by Deborah Blake and Elisabeth Alba (https://www.llewellyn.com/product.php?ean=9780738760322). The cards guide us to move toward positive change and let go of our old ways of being, to meditate and find inner stillness to get clear on where we’re headed and what we want now, and to get up and get moving! In this intro episode Tim and Jes talk about the current pandemic and what is means to live in faith and let go of fear. They chat about the tools (and treats!) they use to keep the balance and connect - donuts, fried chicken, aromatherapy, salt baths, extra sleep, and video calls with friends and family. Current events are beginning to shine a light on disparities in society. In all of the uncertainty there is an underlying hope that there will be a permanent cultural and societal shift that brings equity and balance. There are even government officials speaking about how love wins and that love is strength. Tremendous changes are coming and will continue, but in certain ways the change will be better than we can imagine. For the guidance this week we pulled cards from the Starseed Oracle from Rebecca Campbell and Danielle Noel (https://rebeccacampbell.me/products/the-starseed-oracle/). The cards guide us to relinquish control and go with the flow, trust our intuition and connect with a higher power, and jump into the new normal and allow change.
