Sermon Summary: Isaiah 6 – The Throne of God 1. God Is Still on the Throne The sermon opens with the foundational truth that God reigns from His throne, regardless of what is happening on earth. Political change, cultural instability, and personal loss do not remove God's authority. When Isaiah saw the Lord “high and lifted up,” it was a reminder that while earthly thrones may be empty or shaken, God's throne is eternal and unmovable. 2. The Throne Represents Authority, Power, and Judgment God's throne symbolizes His absolute dominion, holiness, and right to rule. Scripture repeatedly points to the throne as the center of heaven, where authority flows and judgment is rendered. God is not passive or distant—He governs all things and holds ultimate authority over creation. 3. God Is Holy and Must Be Reverenced Around the throne, the seraphim continually cry, “Holy, holy, holy.” The sermon stresses that God's holiness is not symbolic—it is real and overwhelming. True worship begins with reverence. When believers lose sight of God's holiness, they lose awe, conviction, and spiritual sensitivity. 4. Praise Brings God's Manifested Presence While God is omnipresent, the sermon teaches that praise invites His manifested presence. Scripture reveals that God is enthroned in the praises of His people. Praise is not about emotion—it is about acknowledging who God is, which invites His rule and power into personal situations. 5. Encountering God Produces Conviction and Cleansing When Isaiah encountered God's throne, he became immediately aware of his own sinfulness. True encounters with God lead to conviction, not condemnation. God cleansed Isaiah with the coal from the altar, demonstrating that God does not expose sin to shame us, but to purify and restore us. 6. God Cleanses Before He Commissions Before Isaiah was sent, God purified him. The sermon emphasizes that God always prepares before He sends. Cleansing, surrender, and humility are prerequisites for effective service. God is not looking for perfection, but for yielded hearts. 7. Availability Matters More Than Ability After being cleansed, Isaiah responded to God's call with, “Here am I. Send me.” The message highlights that God is not searching for the most talented, but for the most available. Willingness opens the door for divine assignment. 8. God Invites Us Into His Work God does not force obedience. He invites participation. The throne scene reveals a God who desires relationship and partnership with His people. When believers spend time in His presence, His desires become their desires. 9. The Throne Brings Perspective and Peace Isaiah entered the temple troubled by earthly leadership changes, but left with peace and purpose after seeing God on the throne. The sermon reminds believers that peace comes from perspective—fixing our eyes on God rather than circumstances. 10. Final Call The message concludes with a call to: Reverence God's holiness Enter His presence through praise Allow conviction and cleansing Yield fully to His authority Respond with availability The central truth of the sermon is clear: When we see God on His throne, everything else falls into proper place.

John 2 tells us about Jesus cleansing the Temple, taking place at the beginning of his public ministry.  Jesus is acknowledging what many others wouldn't - that there was an open wound causing harm to people and in need of cleansing and healing.  Likewise, we have many open wounds that need to be acknowledged and dealt with, rather than turning and looking away.  The sermon is based on John 2:13-25.

The temple in Jerusalem was where the Israelites would go to meet with God. Only the High Priest could go into God's presence. But that temple was destroyed in AD 70 and now, if you are in Christ, God's temple is your body, but the temple should be clean, holy and righteous. Today we talk about cleansing the temple.

The Lord is the light. Notice what God's Word says in 1 John 1:3-7. We read in verse five, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." Because God is light, He provides the light we need for our daily walk. The Christian life is a journey through earth to glory. It is the light of the Lord that enables us to make the journey victoriously. The key work in this epistle is "fellowship."

It's Gods word, focus on that and not on what is not being said…and that's where we are going today!    Matthew 14:22 Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. 23 After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. 24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. 25 About three o'clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It's a ghost!” 27 But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don't be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” 28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” 32 When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.   PETER DID NOT SAY “LORD LET ME WALK ON WATER” HE SAID COMMAND ME TO WALK ON WATER…. Touch the heavens, speak from the throne of God and make it happen by your words and your words alone.      Peter doesn't know much… but at this point he does know one thing: If Jesus commands it- it will happen. Shifting the focus of AIDS history away from the coasts to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, this impressive book uncovers how homonormative political strategies weaponized the AIDS crisis to fuel gentrification. During the height of the epidemic, white gay activists and politicians pursued social acceptance by assimilating to Midwestern cultural values. This approach, Dr. René Esparza argues in From Vice to Nice: Midwestern Politics and the Gentrification of AIDS (UNC Press, 2025), diluted radical facets of LGBTQ activism, rejected a politics of sexual dissidence, severed ties with communities of color, and ushered in the destruction of vibrant queer spaces.Drawing from archival research, oral histories, and urban studies from the 1970s through the 1990s, Dr. Esparza illustrates how the onset of the AIDS epidemic provided a pretext for further criminalization of perceived sexual deviance, targeting sex workers, “promiscuous” gay men, and transgender women. More than the criminalization of people and behaviors, this time period also saw increased targeting of urban venues such as bathhouses, adult bookstores, and public parks where casual, anonymous encounters occurred. Cleansing the city of land uses that undermined gentrification became a protective measure against AIDS, and the most marginalized bore the brunt of the ensuing surveillance and displacement. From Vice to Nice illuminates how, despite purporting seemingly progressive values, LGBTQ Midwestern politics of conformity leveraged the AIDS crisis to further instigate racial and sexual exclusion and fundamentally alter the urban landscape. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Holy Indignation, Hanukkah, and Cleansing the Temple of Your Heart | KIB 509 Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Description In this episode of the Kingdom Intelligence Briefing, Dr. Michael and Mary Lou Lake share a timely word about holy indignation, the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah), and the urgent need to cleanse the temple of our hearts in these perilous last days.
