Breaking Bots

On this episode of the pod, we talk to Ravi Baboolal and Earl Pancoast III about their team up to bring the all new Red Devil to Battlebots Season 5! We talk to the guys about building robots that get ripped in half, how to prevent that from happening, and why on Earth did Ravi and company skip the KFC buffet when they made the trek to Motorama! A bonus episode months in the making! Our producer finally got around to putting this panel in an episode! The veteran's panel from the Orlando Maker Faire back in November was hosted by the folks from both the Breaking Bots and Behind the Bots podcasts to bring you the likes of Jack Barker, Charles Guan, Brian Nave and more! Find out what they think of hot dogs and building robots!

This time on the ol' pod, we start out by discussing why we have a renewed respect for anyone that judges robot fights and what a great time we had at Robot Ruckus where we met Jack Barker from End Game! We get to talk to him about his bot Cheeseburger (and Krusty Grab!) that he brought to Robot Ruckus and the kind of disappointing season he had with End Game this year and what improvements we can expect for next season! This week on the pod we have two guests from one of Cam's favorite teams, Jeff and Debbie Vasquez from Whiplash! We discuss the family dynamic of their team, the important distinction between Whiplash's weapons and the reason why Jeff isn't in the driver's box anymore!

We have Sam McAmis and Jason Ryan from Team Gruff to discuss the controversial descision with Tombstone and what improvements we may see to Gruff next year. Then we have David, Karl, and Tim from Team Ribbot (@42:30) on to talk about what goes into making a frog themed robot and how to play mind games in the pits with their modular setup! As always we finish up with the Studs and Duds of the week!

This week Jen Herchenroeder returns to the podcast once more to join the threepeat club! We talk about Battle Royale w/ Cheese and the problems that continued to plague them last season, the success of the Little Pink Camaro in the PPPRS, and of course her new team and getting off to such a hot start!

With Cam being under the weather and Brian buried in work to make up from his vacation, there couldn't be a better time to import this great interview with Hal Rucker from Team Black and Blue! This interview was right after the epic rumble in which many fans thought Duck! got robbed! We discuss just went down, what got said afterwards and some ideas of what could be done to make sure it doesn't happen again!

It's just us two dudes today as we had to record early due to summer vacation! We discuss the matches of this week's Battlebots and how we've personally interviewed alot of these teams! Which bots pulled on our heart strings? Which ones walked the walk? Which ones flat out just laid an egg? And also who we were most and least impressed with, find out now!

Battlebots Season 4 is officially here and what better way to start off the new season then with Leanne Cushing from Questionable Designs, or better known as the team behind Valkyrie on Battlebots. We talk about all things from weapon design, what it takes to bring a start up to fruition, and ragging on a man that cries on TV. Then the guys get into what they liked most about the new season so far and which new bot might make a big splash in this seasons tournament!
