Welcome to September 18th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate legends in the sky and paradise found. When Chuck Yeager enlisted into the United States Army he knew nothing about airplanes. He learned that the Army Air Forces were looking for pilots and the position paid far better than his own at the time. Yeager went on to become a highly decorated fighter pilot, earning the rank of Brigadier General. Most famously, he was the first person to break the speed of sound, an event he almost missed. Two days before the test flight, he broke his ribs, but rather than notifying his superiors, he taped his chest and rigged a device to help him close the plane's hatch. The rest is legend. As we celebrate the Air Force Birthday, may we honor the men and women who follow the path carved by this flying ace, who had all the “right stuff.” When songwriter Jimmy Buffet found himself on a sailing trip gone wrong he was forced to eat only canned foods and peanut butter to survive. This state of mind caused him to daydream about soul satisfying food, the kind that can only be found in “carnivorous ways.” Apparently drinking carrot juice and soaking up rays only added to his fever and when he finally docked in Road Town on the Caribbean island of Tortolla, he ordered a cheeseburger! And thus the song Cheeseburger in Paradise was born. Lucky for us land lovers, a good burger joint is never too far away. On National Cheeseburger Day, enjoy your own corner of paradise, which is Heaven on Earth with an onion slice. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. This very special extra episode is a compilation of interviews we have conducted over the years with our dear friend and passionate animal advocate Sherry Colb, who, as you may know, died last month. And Other Questions… The post A tribute to the life and genius of Sherry Colb appeared first on Our Hen House.
Noah Oliver comes from a lineage of Navy Sailors (both his father and grandfather served). While he was in high school, he decided he wanted to join the military. He planned to join the Naval Reserves after high school while he went to college. Noah then learned of the ROTC program and was accepted to the program at Florida State University. After a couple years he was not happy with the ROTC program. He dropped out of the ROTC program, completed his degree, and then enlisted in the Navy in 2012. Noah served six years in Naval Special Operations as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. After one enlistment he discharged from the military. After getting out he utilized the G.I. Bill and went to the University of San Diego and got his MBA. While in business school, Noah founded the Jiu Jitsu and MMA Supply Company, Flowhold. Flowhold is an extension of his love and passion for martial arts. Noah began training at the age of 16 and has competed as a mixed martial arts fighter and submission grappler. He was awarded his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Jocko Willink and Dean Lister in March of 2022. In addition to martial arts and business, Noah enjoys spending time with his family and surfing. Noah lives in San Diego with his wife Lauren, his son Teddy, and his three dogs: Miley, Cheeseburger, and Owen. A Bitch, A Cow, And A Pig Walked Into A Bar: Why Misogynists Animalize Women - Sherry Colb JD Sherry Colb • http://www lawschool.cornell.edu/faculty-research/faculty-directory/sherry-colb• Book – Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger? #SherryColb #Veganism #Vegan Sherry Colb is an C.S. Wong Professor of Law at Cornell Law School and author of the book, Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger?: And Other Questions People Ask Vegans. If you're vegan, how many times have you been asked these, and other similarly challenging, questions from non-vegans? What about plants? Don't animals eat other animals? There are no perfect vegans, so why bother? Using humor and reason, Sherry Colb takes these questions at face value and also delves deeply into the motivations behind them, coming up with answers that are not only intelligent but insightful about human nature. Through examples, case studies, and clear-eyed logic, she provides arguments for everything from why veganism is compatible with the world's major religions to why vegetarianism is not enough. In the end, she shows how it is possible for vegans and non-vegans to engage in a mutually beneficial conversation without descending into counterproductive name-calling, and to work together to create a more hospitable world for human animals and non-human animals alike. She earned an A.B. from Columbia College (Valedictorian) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (magna cum laude). After graduation, Colb clerked for Judge Wilfred Feinberg of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Associate Justice Harry A. Blackmun of the United States Supreme Court. She was a member of the Rutgers University School of Law faculty in Newark when she joined the Cornell faculty in 2008 and has held the position of Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and Columbia Law School. Her research and teaching interests center on issues of constitutional criminal procedure (especially the Fourth Amendment), animal rights, sexual equality, and evidence. Colb's scholarship has appeared in the Stanford Law Review, the New York University Law Review, the Columbia Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and elsewhere. She has published a book about the modern challenges of sex equality, When Sex Counts: Making Babies and Making Law (Rowman & Littlefield 2007), and she authored a book about veganism and animal rights, “Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger?” and Other Questions People Ask Vegans (Lantern 2013). Most recently, she has co-authored a book about animal rights and abortion, Beating Hearts:Abortion and Animal Rights (Columbia University Press 2016). She composes a bi-weekly column on Verdict.Justia.com as well as regular posts on the blog, Dorf on Law. She is admitted to the New York Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court Bar.To Contact Sherry Colb go to lawschool.cornell.edu/faculty-research/faculty-directory/sherry-colb CLICK HERE - To Checkout Our MEMBERSHIP CLUB: http://www.realtruthtalks.com • Social Media ChannelsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TRTAHConferenceInstagram : https://www.instagram.com/therealtruthabouthealth/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/RTAHealth Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-real-truth-about-health-conference/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheRealTruthAboutHealth • Check out our Podcasts Visit us on Apple Podcast and Itunes search: The Real Truth About Health Free 17 Day Live Online Conference Podcast Amazon: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/23a037be-99dd-4099-b9e0-1cad50774b5a/real-truth-about-health-live-online-conference-podcastSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0RZbS2BafJIEzHYyThm83J Google:https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS8yM0ZqRWNTMg%3D%3DStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/real-truth-about-health-live-online-conference-podcastAudacy: https://go.audacy.com/partner-podcast-listen-real-truth-about-health-live-online-conference-podcastiHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-real-truth-about-health-li-85932821/ Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/us/show/2867272 Reason: https://reason.fm/podcast/real-truth-about-health-live-online-conference-podcast • Other Video ChannelsYoutube:https://www.youtube.com/c/TheRealTruthAboutHealthVimeo:https://vimeo.com/channels/1733189Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/c-1111513 Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TRTAHConference/videos/?ref=page_internal DailyMotion: https://www.dailymotion.com/TheRealTruthAboutHealth BitChute:https://www.bitchute.com/channel/JQryXTPDOMih/ Disclaimer:Medical and Health information changes constantly. On today's episode of the HowToBBQRight Podcast, they're giving the parents more homework than the kids at school, this year (00:45), and there is still time to get invited to our VIPP, A.K.A. Very Important Pig Pickin' (04:07). Malcom reminisces about the first time he got invited to talk with Greg Rempe on The BBQ Central Show (05:10). Our buddy SwineLifeBBQ got invited to cook a VERY prestigious BBQ Competition (06:20). This list I found from America's Test Kitchen put a VERY special mayo at number one (10:29), and Malcom still hasn't tried the new Whataburger that came to town, recently (14:00). Malcom made the best Salmon he's ever cooked, but it was in an Air-Fryer (16:27). Pimento Cheese absolutely belongs on Cheeseburgers (22:36), and you can amp-up that burger even more with Sweet & Spicy Candied Bacon (29:18). There is hardly anything on this planet that you can't put on a Slider Roll and make it more delicious (33:10). Malcom explains how to get more smoke in your cooks on vertical competition smokers (37:58), and I'm interested in Malcom smoking a skinless hog head (43:59). One of our community members wants to know if Malcom wraps Pork Butt, and what temps should they be looking for (49:27)? This is your last call to sign up for the Townsend Spice & Supply SCA Cookoff (53:50).
