Calling Dick Tracy, calling Dick Tracy! Big Boy is on prowl and can't no copper 'cept you bring him down! This week on The CineMeh Podcast, Josh and Ryan take on the underworld next to the banana raincoat and fedora hero of the early 30s in the 1990 fever dream classic, Dick Tracy. With a cast of mob movie heavies and Warren Beaty at the helm, plus a stunning, unique visual style, this film has all the makings of a modern arthouse classic. Instead, it ends up being such a bland, mid film that it is difficult even to form an opinion about why it is so unremarkable! It's a film that just exists, despite having everything going for it. A perfect example of, unfortunately, extraordinarily wasted potential. Our discussion goes into other film noir heroes of the era, including a call back to The Shadow in season 2, and a near constant invocation of Batman. Plus, if you like James Cagney and Edward Robinson, you'll be excited to hear them invoked with mention of vastly superior films like The Public Enemy and Little Caeser. Strap on your talkie watch and load up your tommy gun, this one is a doozie. Dick Tracy was released in 1990 and stars Warren Beaty, Al Pacino, and Madonna, with appearances by William Forsythe, James Caan, James Tolkan and Dustin Hoffman. The CineMEH Podcast is a Slyjack Media, LLC production Like what you hear? Check out our other podcast, Morning Radio, TBD available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon and Google podcasts. Edward grew a huge passion for space technology while in high school, after seeing videos of SpaceX rockets returning from space. In year 10 and 11, he developed a model rocket capable of steering itself with electronics and algorithms. He then developed a CubeSat prototype in year 12. Immediately after high school, he embarked on a mission to educate more students about space technology, founding Robinson Aerospace. Edward started his first business in year 9, a T-shirt store. He sold the business for $1500 and opened an eBay store selling electronics, which had to be shut down to make time for Robinson Aerospace.

I watched The 1944 masterpiece Double Indemnity for this week's episode, directed by Billy Wilder. The film stars superstar Fred MacMurray as Insurance Salesmen Walter Neff, award-winning star actress, and one of my favorites Barbara Stanwyck as the femme fatale, alluring and manipulative wife Phyllis Dietrichson and the longtime actor known for playing tough guys Edward Robinson as Insurance Investigator Barton Keyes. The plot involves Insurance Salesmen Walter Neff going to the home of Phyllis Dietrichson to meet her husband to discuss renewing his auto insurance with the Pacific All Risks Insurance Company. While there, he falls in love with Phyllis, and together they plan the perfect murder to remove Phyllis's husband from the picture. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/collin-sugg/message
Queen of colour, Sophie Robinson (Sops) is a TV presenter and interior designer. Her little brother Edward (Smudge) left a career in fashion for interiors, also appearing on telly. Their love of a project was inspired by their DIY- mad parents, who moved the kids around the country, renovating houses as they went. This nomadic period of childhood was an adventure for golden-child Sophie and a bit tough for Edward, who was struggling with his identity. In this episode they talk about rainbow wallpaper, fancying your games teacher, pyromania and confiding in each other as adults. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
"In 2019, the use of United States sourced wood pellets in the UK was accountable for 16 million to 19 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, mostly burned by Drax. That is roughly equivalent to a quarter of all the emissions from the UK power sector."ELCI editor Edward Robinson speaks to Duncan Brack, Associate Fellow at Chatham House and author of numerous reports into industrial-scale biomass and forestry policy.
Edward Robinson speaks to Prof Michael Norton, outgoing director of the environment programme at the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC). Mike speaks about the need to understand what 'transformative change' actually is, the gap between science and policy urgency on environmental boundaries and on the flawed concept of GDP. Lex Musta tells the interracial story of how the January 20th 1955 first-in-the-nation student-led sit-in integration of a lunch counter came about (6:00), led by Dr. Helen Hicks in Baltimore from Morgan State University. It was facilitated by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) activity in Baltimore founded by Dr. Herbert Kelman and Robert Watts in 1952, an interracial coalition which laid the ground work for the national student-led sit-in movement six years before Greensboro (7:10). In 1953 CORE integrates (Kresge) KMart lunch counters in Baltimore (8:15). In 1953 CORE integrates Woolworth lunch counters in Baltimore (9:37). In 1954 CORE integrates McCrory's and Grant's lunch counters in Baltimore with sit-ins, one year before 1955 first-in-nation student sit-ins (9:55). 1954 Read's Drug Store integrated by CORE's Robert Watts and his Morgan State Students and their 8 month sit-in, leading up to Dr. Helen Hicks led sit in (10:14). 1946-1952 NAACP integration of Ford's Theater with the participation of a 13 year old Helen Hicks, led by Adah Jenkins Baltimore Interracial Fellowship, Professor of Music at Morgan State and Charter Member of CORE. Leading actors Basil Rathbone and Edward Robinson boycotted Ford as a result. Dr. Lilly Jackson joined this protest leading to Franz Lehar's 'The Merry Widow' being the first desegregated play perform. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. considers every American to be proud of the Jackson family's contributions to Civil Rights (13:40). 1932 Juanita Jackson desegregated her dormitory in Pennsylvania after being denied schooling in Baltimore. Thurgood Marshall also integrated a movie theater in Pennsylvania after being denied schooling in Baltimore. Thurgood Marshall and Juanita Jackson founded and led Baltimore's City Wide Young People's Forum in 1931. The youth started the program: "No employment, No Business." The Forum was based at the Bethel AME Church in Baltimore. The daughter activated her mother Dr. Lilly Jackson to become the President of the NAACP supported financially by her father Keifer Jackson who popularized films with showings of positive portrayals of African Descent Americans (18:50). Juanita Jackson helped Lieutenant Violet Hill Whyte, become the first ever African Descent American Police Officer in Baltimore in 1937, the daughter of the Pastor of Bethel AME Church Daniel Hill (21:14). Juanita Jackson, following the murder of 9 African Americans by Baltimore Policemen from 1937-1942, and Pvt. Broadus being gunned down for hailing a non-licensed cab, she organized 150 Baltimore Organizations into a Citizen's Committee for Justice to form a 2000 person caravan of busses and cars to travel the 25 miles to Annapolis to meet with the Governor Herbert O'Conor and demand change on April 24, 1942 (21:45). The Bethel AME Church leadership in Baltimore Social Change work was established in 1785 with its first official pastor Rev. Daniel Coker penning the first African Descent American written anti-enslavement Tract in 1810, the Dialogue between a Virginian and an African minister (26:54). Mr. Church member Charles Hacket, a conductor on the underground railroad, led three years of indignation meetings (prayer and fasting for 24 hours in the church for change) to defeat 1860 bill to enslave all 100,000 African descent freemen in Maryland. (23:44). In 1863 Hacket recruited two United States Colored Troop regiments in Baltimore, the 4th Regiment in September and the 7th Regiment. December 5-8 1879 Indignation Meetings held to hire first African Descent teacher, Roberta Sheridan, in Baltimore public schools since 1865 when they were all fired. In 1885, Rev. Harvey Johnson founded the Order of the Regulators - a civil rights advocacy organization. My daughter asked for a prayerful interlude, and we sing the Song of the Prophets (25:41). Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall, with the support of Alpha Phi Alpha, integrated UMD law school with the case of Donald Gaines Murray.

Today’s episode is a delightful chat with Grant Kaplan, Associate Professor of Theology at Saint Louis University. Grant is an expert in nineteenth-century German Catholic theology, fundamental theology, Modern philosophy and theology, and a whole lot of other fascinating topics. He is also the author of René Girard, Unlikely Apologist: Mimetic Theory and Fundamental Theology (Notre Dame, 2016). After an initial foray into Grant’s ill-advised fashion choices (a crop top was involved), cooking failures (high temps and cheese don’t mix), and favorite bar (The Columns Hotel in New Orleans), we talk about the people, places, texts, and ideas that helped shape Grant into the theologian he is today. In today’s episode, we continue last’s week’s discussion of Lonergan’s “Mission and the Spirit.” After a quick request for our wonderful listeners to send us Treasures Old & New, we pick up our previous analysis of finality, which Lonergan understands as a relation to an end. This quick review leads us into the essay’s fourth section (“The Human Subject”), which examines the exigences driving the operations of our consciousness’ unfolding. Because human life is marred by bias, sin, and decline, Lonergan also stresses that our self-transcendence and vertical finality require the healing and elevation that can only come from God’s saving action in history. This soteriological necessity serves as the subject of the essay’s final section, which treats the missions of the Son and Spirit. TITLES REFERENCED IN MAIN SEGMENT Augustine. On the Trinity. Today’s episode is a one-on-one discussion between Jon and Ryan, laying the groundwork for clarifying what precisely we, the hosts of a podcast called “Systematically,” understand systematic theology to be. The chat begins with a brief overview of the Heaps and Hemmer couples’ joint vacation on Marco Island, where they reflected upon the divergences between Hot Fuzz and Paul Blart: Mall Cop, the speed of Aaron Sorkin’s dialogue, and the apparent malaise of Floridean retirees. This pivots into a nuanced examination of the relationship(s) between systematic theology, dogmatic theology, historical consciousness, and philosophy. The conversation then culminates in a discussion of whether or not speculative theology can make any meaningful contribution to our contemporary pluralist cultural contexts. Ryan wraps up the discussion by sharing his Treasures Old & New, and then we say goodbye. TITLES NAMED IN MAIN SEGMENT Aristotle. The Basic Works of Aristotle. Edited by Richard McKeon. We found quite a bit to mull over with regard to our titular character, that romance novel-reading, trivia contest-winning, accidental jewel-thieving Edward Robinson. Does he secure his, ahem, manhood by the end of the story? Did we as Twenty-First Century readers find the definition of said manhood in this story to be rather troubling? Yes and yes, naturally.
Tonight its ALL about robot fightin time as I welcome not one but TWO guest for our weekly Battlebots segment.Al Kindle of Blacksmith and Edward Robinson of Shark-O!
"Working Together, Makes It All Better!" Edward Robinson, 2018 There are times when going it alone, is necessary. But, most of the time, it is better to go down that path with a buddy. If one falls down, the other can help the friend up again.
Edward Robinson brings us this message from Colossians 3:14-17.
Episode 3 of Insurable Interest reviews Double Indemnity (1944) from an insurance point of view. Why You Matter; And Why It Matters... By Edward Robinson It's The EdRoboTech.com Podcast Series for Friday March 23, 2018. This is Episode 34. I'm Edward Robinson! Have you ever come to work, and solved a problem, that saved the day? Did you have people counting on you to perform, and looking to you for help, guidance, or support? That's a good feeling. That feeling says,"You are needed. You are important. You are a mission critical part of this operation". Isn't it great when you come through with a great idea, that saves the day? Yes, it truly is. People admire that person. They may emulate you. Some may even envy you. But, on the other hand, have you ever felt that the whole operation could go on without you? That you don't matter? That someone else has all the answers, and you are just a part of the crowd? I want to let you know that especially in schools, there are many people who make a difference each school day. If you are one of those people, you may not always be noticed as a winner, or as an awesome contributor. But, when each member of the school district does their job effectively, wonderful things can happen. It is important to know that your contribution sometimes may go unnoticed. But, it is still very valuable. Think, for example of a 300 year old tree. You may eat lunch next to that tree, but never see the root structure that supports it and keeps it healthy and strong. Being a support to students who need encouragement is not only admirable, but it is vital. Let's talk about Encouragement: Teachers need encouragement, so that they can know and remember what is important about themselves as individuals, and what they became a teacher to do in the first place. They need to be there for their students. Students need encouragement, because sometimes they are going through a tough time. They may try to understand tragedy, and pain, and need leadership to inspire them to be their best selves. They need to know that it is going to be alright, and that the sun will come up tomorrow, like the song, of that name, in the play called Annie. Parents need encouragement, because they are trusting their precious children with educators throughout each school day, hoping that they will return to them no worse for wear, hopefully with positive experiences and knowledge from the school day. They need to know that schools will be a safe, learning zone, for their children. Administrators need encouragement, too because they need to make decisions to protect all the people who visit, attend, work, at school campuses. They may have to make decisions and choices to protect staff and students that are dynamic, or decisive, at times, to protect lives. Encouragement makes you feel more capable to succeed. Encouragement lets you know what's possible. Inspiration is the wind beneath your wings. Inspiration is motivation to do something meaningful or constructive. School safety is very important. But, there are behaviors that we can do to keep our schools safe: Metal detectors in schools will likely expose concealed weapons. Safety drills: shelter in place, lockdown, evacuation, and/or perimeter drills School security guards can keep schools safe, if they are administered wisely. Keeping unauthorized persons off campuses will also help. People need to know that things can be alright again. Education must continue, but it is smart to make wise improvements that will insure safety, improve morale, and keep the job of the K-12 schools happening: literacy. And in our present society Technology Literacy is very important. Not just knowing how to read, write, add and subtract, etc. But knowing how to utilize computer programs and applications effectively, so that our learners will function effectively in an emerging digital world that requires those skills. Thanks so much for clicking in, and we'll see you online!
Student Loan Debt Is Hindering Graduates From Succession In Their Profession By Edward Robinson It's The EdRoboTech.com Podcast Series, called "Ed Is Better With Tech", for Friday, March 16th, 2018. I'm Edward Robinson! An increasing number of Student Loan Debtors, many who are graduates who hold Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Graduate Degree, are not finding the promised career employment in their field of study. Because of this they are left to accept lesser paying, lesser quality employment, that is often outside their careers. Let's face it... The longer a person works outside their careers, the less money they can earn, and the greater likelihood that they will never work in their field of study and field of choice. Why? Because employers search for a work history that agrees with the: certifications degree programs degrees that the candidate studied. It seems to come up as a red flag when the person has little to no experience in a new field, even with the degree. Less money from work, and maturing student loans means the increased possibility of bad credit. Also: More bills from education debt Higher education related fees Higher interest rates Capitalization of debt even while on forebearance, deferment, etc. Higher Debt to Income Ratio Higher Debt to Income Ratio--- Is easy to explain when you realize how these student loan debts increase because of interest, fees, and capitalization of borrowed money. The debt spirals out of control, often while the student/graduate is applying for that career job. Taking jobs outside their field makes the student/graduate waste time and potential income, by settling into jobs that don't correlate with their chosen field. Employers and Recruiters share much of the blame, when they resist non- traditional hires. Meaning, hiring a candidate who is, for example, African- American male, for a position that is typically filled by a White Male. Non-traditional hiring is the natural process when more people go to college, and study for careers in non-traditional, or emerging fields. For example, with STEM Education, we are training our employable population for fields that never existed before. Since no one ever held some of these new jobs, who is to say who would be the ideal candidate, and what they would look like? Women are capable of filling STEM roles as well. Why would employers want to resist hiring a capable candidate for a Science/Technology role, simply because of gender? Students attend college under the premise that when they come out, they will find and fill better career-quality positions. These students have made the committment to: Attend school Borrow money in the form of Guaranteed Student Loans Attend Class Completed coursework with a favorable grade Now they want the job opportunities promised them at the outset. Any less would seem to be false advertising. There should be a path toward achieving the "yes", that allows that student whopassed his/her classes to get the "dream job" without the typical excuses thatare given. This will also build our economy, filling those jobs in STEM-relateddisciplines that reportedly go unfilled, because of the lack of qualifiedcandidates. (Robinson, 2018) Working outside of one's field of endeavor, is a disappointment. Let's find a way to hire the qualified candidates with a college degree, but few experiences in the workplace. That is leadership. If more employers demonstrated greater leadership in terms of hiring non-traditional hires, for example African- Americans and Women, there would be less of a need to talk about Student Loan Debt Forgiveness, because many more graduates would be working in their fields, contributing to commerce, contributing culturally, and paying taxes, as well as achieving while contributing to their chosen career.
Iceland is known for geothermal beauty, fishing and as the birthplace of Bjork. It also made international headlines in 2008 thanks to a banking crisis that tipped the country into recession and reverberated around Europe. Now, Iceland is back in the headlines after the leak of the so-called Panama Papers unveiled offshore accounts held by Iceland's prime minister and sparked mass protests that eventually unseated him. While the island nation is one of the few countries that sent bankers to prison after the financial crisis, discontent remains rife among its small population, underscored by the rise of the anti-establishment Pirate Party. Joining us to discuss all things Icelandic are Edward Robinson and Omar Valdimarsson, authors of Welcome to Iceland, Where Bad Bankers Go to Prison from the latest edition of Bloomberg Markets magazine.
