Griffin Warner talks betting for Tuesday. Griffin Warner returns with the May 26 edition of What I Bet on the Straight Outta Vegas AM pregame.com podcast feed, covering a critical NHL elimination game and a full 13-game MLB slate in one of the busiest betting days of the early summer. On the ice, Griffin explains why he is not buying the Colorado Avalanche as road favorites against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final. The Avs fell 5-3 in Game 3 and now trail 3-0, with Nathan MacKinnon's knee injury after blocking a shot adding serious uncertainty to Colorado's roster situation. Cale Makar returned from his own upper-body absence but Griffin says he never looked fully himself, and the backhand goal from Tomas Hertl that extended Vegas's lead was the moment that defined the game. Golden Knights minus 102 is his play. On the baseball side, Griffin works through every matchup on the board, starting with the Washington Nationals and Cade Cavalli against the Cleveland Guardians and Joey Cantillo, leaning Cleveland at minus 130. He covers the Tampa Bay Rays and Griffin Jax against a bullpen game, with former Rays righty Shane Baz, now an Oriole, having pitched well against Tampa recently, and finds value in the under on total first five at plus 100. He leans to Keider Montero and the under in Detroit against the Angels and Jack Kochanowicz, backs Boston and Ranger Suarez plus 100 over Spencer Strider and the Braves because Strider still needs to prove his return from elbow surgery is complete, monitors Sandy Alcantara and Miami against the Blue Jays and Braydon Fisher in a bullpen game, and sides with the Mets and David Peterson over the Reds and Chase Burns in a battle where plus money is simply too attractive to ignore. Kyle Harrison has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball since joining Milwaukee from Boston and Griffin respects him enormously but cannot pay minus 170. He leans under on Cam Schlittler and the Yankees against Kansas City and Bailey Falter after recounting how Lucas Erceg's blown save on a misplaced slider to Anthony Volpe cost him a two-unit win the night before. Joe Ryan and the Twins draw plus money from Sean Burke and the White Sox, making the under on seven and a half the natural lean. The Houston Astros no-hit Texas on Monday and Griffin reads that as a direct statement on how poorly the Rangers have been hitting and how difficult Globe Life Field plays, leaning under against Jack Leiter. Aaron Nola and the Phillies get the nod over Randy Vasquez and the Padres after Vasquez was scratched Monday and slid into Tuesday's spot. Emerson Hancock and Luis Severino shape up as a low-scoring Sacramento game, Eduardo Rodriguez and Tyler Mahle figure to keep it quiet at Oracle Park, and there is simply no case for backing Kyle Freeland and the Rockies at plus 206 in Los Angeles against Eric Lauer's Dodger debut. Griffin's Best Bet is the Pittsburgh Pirates and Braxton Ashcraft at minus 125 over the Cubs and Jordan Wicks, who is making his first big-league start of the season after being recalled from Triple-A Iowa following a stint on the IL. Hilary Dubin is co-CEO and head of Jones' digital product & behavioral support program. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude, majoring in cognitive science with a concentration in computation and cognition, an honors thesis on the effects of gender, realism, and role of virtual agents, and a minor from Wharton in consumer psychology.  She worked in David Brainard's visual neuroscience lab for 3 years and published 4 papers and supplementary materials on illumination discrimination (color perception). After Penn, she was selected as one of ten Americans to be a Ventures Fellow in the Excel Ventures incubator program in Tel Aviv, and continued on to be the inaugural member, and later program lead, of the US Associate Product Manager Program at Atlassian.  She worked as a product manager at Atlassian for 5 years, ultimately as Head of Confluence Editions & Admin Experience where she launched Confluence Premium & Free into multi-million dollar product offerings with 2M+ users. She hired & managed two PMs and lead a team of over 30 developers.  Prior to founding Jones, she and Caroline founded Cozier together, a sleep & loungewear brand designing ethical, effortlessly chic garments for every/body. Hilary started vaping casually in 2017 when the JUUL seemed relatively harmless and fun.  When the world went on lockdown in 2020, her casual vaping habit became a daily crutch for coping with stress and working from home. After over a year of unsuccessful cold-turkey quit attempts, she finally kicked her vaping habit in 2022 when Caroline suggested she try NRT.  Outside of work, Hilary loves hiking, backcountry skiing, trying to find the best burger in NYC, and playing with other people's dogs. May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month. It is believed that 1 in 5 new moms experience some level of perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. And when a new mom experiences postpartum anxiety or depression, her partner is 50% more likely to also experience anxiety or depression. In today's episode, we've invited three fathers to share their perspective on the postpartum journey. Mike Vasquez and Todd Kennedy are married to women who courageously shared their postpartum experiences in episodes 31 and 32. Alex Grant and his wife are former clients of Allison. In this episode, Allison asks Mike, Todd, and Alex to reflect on their own transition to parenthood and what it was like to support a partner navigating postpartum anxiety or depression. Together, they share honest insights about recognizing when something was not quite right, managing their own emotions during a stressful season, and learning how to show up as steady, supportive partners. Their stories highlight the importance of communication, support systems, and compassion for both parents during the postpartum period. This episode offers a powerful reminder that postpartum mental health affects the entire family and that partners play a critical role in recovery and healing. Ileana D. Vasquez, a self-taught filmmaker, is blazing a trail for women in the industry by writing, directing, and producing her new film, Topple. This thrilling female-led story brings together eight women to overthrow an authoritarian regime. But what sets Topple apart isn't just the compelling narrative—it's the intentional focus on empowering women in pivotal roles and operating with an environmentally conscious mindset throughout production.“We're casting female leads,” Ileana explained, “and this is going to be exciting on stage and behind the scenes.” She elaborated on the project's inclusive vision, highlighting how Topple is putting women not only in key creative positions such as directing, producing, and writing but also throughout the broader film production process. Her passion for supporting women in filmmaking stems from her own experiences. Having encountered harassment and limited opportunities early on as an actor, Ileana transitioned behind the camera, teaching herself screenwriting, directing, and producing. Reflecting on this journey, she shared, “I was not given specific opportunities, so I started teaching myself. I studied how directors I appreciated worked with actors and the camera.”Ileana's commitment to inclusivity and innovation extends to the environment. With the guidance of a sustainability consultant, her production is making deliberate choices to minimize environmental impact, from using hybrid vehicles to selecting cruelty-free makeup and sustainable clothing. “This approach runs through everything, even down to meal choices on set. We're focused on being plant-based with options for everyone,” she said.To support this initiative, Ileana turned to crowdfunding. “We did find an investor for the main budget,” she shared, “but we still have a gap for late development. That's why we're raising funds.”Readers are invited to join Ileana's inspiring effort to bring Topple to the silver screen. Visit s4g.biz/topple to explore this exciting opportunity. By investing, supporters can uplift women while championing sustainability in filmmaking. This is more than just a movie; it's a movement with lasting impact. Topple embodies the values of empowerment, environmental responsibility, and meaningful storytelling.tl;dr:Ileana D. Vasquez is creating Topple, a woman-led, environmentally conscious thriller about overthrowing an authoritarian regime. Her career journey began with struggles as an actor, inspiring her shift to directing and producing.Topple embodies inclusivity by casting women in lead and behind-the-camera roles to address gender inequality. The production aims to model sustainability, avoiding toxic materials, using hybrid vehicles, and supporting a plant-based diet.Ileana is crowdfunding the final development of Topple, inviting investors to join this empowering project. How to Develop Intuition As a SuperpowerIleana's superpower is rooted in her ability to trust her intuition to guide her creative decisions and personal journey. She describes her superpower as “intuition, resilience, and an ability to foresee certain things,” and it's a strength that has continuously shaped her filmmaking career.Ileana shared how intuition often gives her creative insights on set. For example, during the filming of Finding Sahara, an actress walked toward the camera while a “stop” sign appeared in the frame—a symbolic moment perfectly aligned with the story. She explained, “It kind of clicked, and we got that shot. It really blends in well with the story.”Her intuition isn't just confined to the creative process. She named her company “Lolita Moon” after an inspired moment of clarity drawing on personal connections: “My middle name is Dolores, which can be shortened to Lolita. My sign is Pisces, ruled by the moon. One night, it just hit me—Lolita Moon.”Ileana suggests developing intuition by honing self-awareness. She emphasized listening to your gut: “If you feel unease in your belly—like something is unsettling—take that as a sign to reconsider.” She also advocates paying attention to dreams, noting that they can provide clues and inspiration, as many of her creative projects have originated from dreams.By following Ileana's example and advice, you can make intuition a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileIleana D. Longtime real estate investor decided that he was tired of paying attorneys and financial planners for setting up trusts, especially as the time and cost skyrocketed.  My guest today found that the time and costs started deterring business owners from creating estate plans.  Real estate savvy investor Oscar Vasquez joins me, and explains why he created software to assist in creating trusts for business owners, including real estate investors.  As every location has different trust requirements, many real-estate-owning Americans don't have an estate plan (which means their estate will go through probate).  Join me and Oscar and learn about avoiding probate with smart estate planning.

Lissette Andino was born in Rochester, NY to a loving family who were proudly from Puerto Rico. Growing up in her home meant speaking Spanish and eating authentic and traditional meals that her mother made in honor of their heritage. She began learning English in kindergarten when she attended school and alongside other Spanish speaking children, she excelled and bloomed into a bright bilingual student. Later in her childhood, her family relocated to a different neighborhood where she felt challenged to be accepted as a Latina. While she was grateful for a different learning experience and opportunity, she felt strongly about attending a public technical school across town, to return to a more diverse community. With a more inclusive environment she felt reenergized and inspired to learn but finding support from the administration to talk about pathways to college and career was limited and challenging. Then Lissette met Dr. Miriam Vasquez who would change her perspective. Dr. Vasquez guided her through the process of obtaining financial aid and enrolling in community college. She continues to be an inspiration for her leadership and dedication to Latino communities to this day. Starting her family and moving for a new job changed her life dramatically and launched her impressive career in the utility industry. Today she serves as Director of Community Partnership and Engagement. As one of a handful of Latino leaders at the Director level, she brings broader representation to leadership. Her work spans three states (CT, MA, NH), giving her a regional footprint and expanding diverse leadership across the communities she serves. Additionally, her commitment to champion the Latino community remains at the core of her life's mission. She was the co-founder of the Greater Bridgeport Latino Network which provides many services, information and support across the region. She also serves on the board of directors for Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders, ARTE Inc, and collaborates with a range of nonprofit organizations focused on community advancement. Lissette's family is her greatest source of inspiration, and her gratitude for being part of the Puerto Rican and Latino communities and contributing in a deep and meaningful way brings her immense joy and purpose. This interview is lovingly dedicated to Lissette's dear friend and inspiration, Mrs. Raquel Santiago-Martinez, who selflessly contributed to the Latino community. Her legacy will live on in others for generations to come.

Photo: U.S. Department of Interior building. (Kmf164 via Wikimedia) Tribal leaders are raising concerns about a possible overhaul of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) that could lead to more staff cuts. During a congressional hearing last week, National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) president Mark Macarro warned lawmakers a proposed reorganization could reduce positions critical to delivering funding and services to tribal nations. He says the plan is moving forward without meaningful consultation. Macarro told lawmakers, “this action has been done without consultation with tribal nations and without consideration of the impact it will have on the delivery of programs and services.” A recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report found workforce reductions have already caused delays and left gaps in services across Indian Country. Federal officials say the changes are intended to improve efficiency, but tribal leaders warn the impacts could be far reaching. Native children playing outside at the Iselta Head Start. (Photo: Jeanette DeDios / KUNM-FM) The Pueblo of Isleta could lose federal funds for its Head Start program because online betting and prediction markets are hurting the tribe's gaming revenues. U.S. Rep. Gabe Vasquez (D-NM) met with tribal leaders last week to discuss the importance of preserving early education programs on sovereign Native lands. KUNM's Jeanette DeDios (Jicarilla Apache and Diné) has more. At the Isleta Head Start, which serves children ages three to five at the pueblo, the program offers both educational and cultural learning like traditional dancing and language learning. Native American communities must do a 20% non-federal match for their Head Start programs in order to receive the remaining 80% of their budget from the federal government, so Isleta Pueblo uses revenues from its casino gaming for the match. But tribal officials say that is now at risk because online gaming platforms use federal regulatory loopholes to offer gambling-like services nationwide, while avoiding state gaming compacts under which tribal casinos must operate. Charles Jojola , 1st Lieutenant Governor for the Pueblo of Isleta, says that every gaming Pueblo has similar concerns. “Coming into our state, unregulated. They’re not sharing any of their revenues. What people gamble, what they make, they’re walking away, you know, from the state with all that money. And as far as Indian tribes go, you know, we’re required.” The Trump administration has eased Biden-era regulations on prediction markets. Rep. Vasquez introduced an amendment to prohibit sports betting using prediction market models. He also co-sponsored another bill that would prohibit members of Congress and the administration from entering into contracts. He says if they do not prohibit this it is going to lead to corruption issues. “Because now you’re able to make predictions or bets on things like world events, on legislation, passing on what the President is going to do tomorrow, on what the Supreme Court case is going to decide on a case that they have before them.” Councilwoman for the Pueblo Eulalia Lucero says this will directly impact the Pueblo's children. “This is the forefront of the foundation of their future, and it’s developing their knowledge, their awareness, so that they can be stronger as they go into the next phases of education.” Vasquez says that online gaming is a clear violation and overstep of the rules that currently exist and it will be one of his top priorities this year. In this episode of On the Aisle, host Tom Alvarez sits down with acclaimed director James Vasquez (also known as Pedro James Vasquez) for a powerful conversation about theater, identity, and the stories that bring people together. Currently directing the hit Broadway musical Come From Away at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, James shares how the production captures the extraordinary true story that unfolded in the wake of the September 11 attacks, when a small Canadian town welcomed thousands of stranded travelers with compassion and generosity. He discusses the unique challenge of staging a fast-paced, ensemble-driven show where just 12 actors portray more than 70 characters, and how he is crafting a fresh vision without relying on past productions.Beyond the stage, the conversation explores James' personal journey—from his early days at the Old Globe Theatre to becoming a nationally recognized director—and his experience navigating the industry as a Mexican-American artist. He opens up about reclaiming his full name, Pedro James Vasquez, and the importance of representation and telling culturally authentic stories, including his work on American Mariachi. At its heart, this episode highlights why theater continues to matter: its ability to create genuine human connection, spark meaningful conversations long after the curtain falls, and remind us—much like Come From Away—that even in the most difficult moments, kindness and community can shine through.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

She sent the governor a present of a necklace of beads, canoes to cross the river with, and gave us half the village to lodge in. The governor opened a large temple built in the woods, in which was buried the chiefs of the country, and took from it a quantity of pearls, amounting to six or seven arrobes, which were spoiled by being buried in the ground. We dug up two Spanish axes, a chaplet of wild olive seed, and some small beads, resembling those we had brought from Spain for the purpose of trading with the Indians. We conjectured they had obtained these things by trading with the companions of Vasquez de Ayllon. The Indians told us the sea was only about thirty leagues distant." This week in Louisiana history.
