This podcast is an addition to a request that came from the airspace review. Sometimes a VFR Pilot may have clear skies, but the visibility around the airport may be low due to mist, haze, smoke, or some other restriction to visibility. You may also experience excellent visibility, but have a low ceiling that is hovering just over the terminal area of the aerodrome. Either way, if you know the area well, have at least one statute mile visibility, and can remain clear of clouds, then you can request a "Special VFR" departure with air traffic control.
