Host Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, shares his five-step launch blueprint for building a lean, profitable clinic from scratch. He begins by debunking the myth that doctors need investors, massive loans, or fancy offices to succeed. Instead, he emphasizes focusing on action, simplicity, and profitability from day one. Step one: pick a profitable niche by identifying exactly who you want to serve and the urgent problem you can solve now. Step two: build your Minimal Viable Clinic (MVC) — a streamlined version of your practice that allows you to start seeing patients quickly using low-cost tools like telemedicine, subleasing spaces, and affordable EHR systems. Dr. Woo-Ming explains how to craft an irresistible offer centered around transformation, not just services—helping patients achieve measurable outcomes in 90 days or less. He shares proven marketing insights inspired by Alex Hormozi and offers examples of “unicorn offer statements.” Finally, he details how to attract your first patients, leverage partnerships, and systematize your operations through automation, virtual assistants, and tracking key business metrics. This episode is a must-listen for physicians seeking independence, sustainability, and control over their medical careers—without waiting for permission or capital. Three Actionable Takeaways: Pick a Profitable Niche: Define exactly who you serve, what urgent problem you solve, and ensure you can deliver results profitably. Avoid broad audiences—clarity drives success. Build Your Minimal Viable Clinic (MVC): Start lean using telemedicine, subleased spaces, and low-cost tech tools. Focus on momentum, not perfection—launch now, refine later. Automate and Scale Early: Use systems like EHR automation, virtual assistants, and follow-up sequences to streamline operations. Track metrics weekly to identify growth opportunities. In this lively and deeply reflective episode of Uncover the Human, Cristina and Alex dive into the “respectrum” — the full range of how respect and disrespect show up in our lives, workplaces, and society. They explore how easily we justify our own lapses in respect while condemning others, and how that double standard quietly erodes the social ecosystem we all share. With humor, honesty, and a few delightfully unplanned metaphors, they unpack why respect often goes unnoticed until it's missing — and how small acts of awareness and courage can rebuild it.The conversation moves from everyday moments, like driving or team meetings, to larger questions of culture, leadership, and moral responsibility. Cristina and Alex remind us that culture is defined not by our best intentions, but by the worst behavior we allow. They challenge listeners to reflect: when you witness disrespect, do you stay silent or step in? This episode is a call to remember that respect is contagious — and so is silence.

Think military divorce means automatically splitting everythign 50/50 and going to court? Wrong on both counts! Certified Divorce Financial Anaylst David Smith reveals what most military families get wrong and what it costs them! In today's episode, we'll discuss the complex financial and logistical aspects of military divorce, covering everything from pension division to healthcare benefits, tax implications, and emotional support strategies. Key Topics Jurisdiction & Legal Considerations Multiple state options for filing (voting state, property ownership state, driver's license state, tax filing state) Importance of consulting with an attorney early to determine proper jurisdiction Each state has different rules, formulas, and processes JAG office can provide consultation but cannot represent service members in divorce proceedings Types of Divorce Processes Four main options: DIY without professionals, mediation, collaborative divorce, litigation Court is NOT the only option Out-of-court processes (mediation, collaborative) are often more cost-effective, private, and less stressful Consulting attorneys vs. representing attorneys - different roles and costs Military Pension Division Division is not the only option - can use offsetting with other assets Must determine what portion is "marital" vs. "separate" property Not all pension components are divisible (e.g., VA disability) Requires a Military Retirement Pay Division Order through DFAS Differences between active duty, reservist, and guard member pensions Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Critical considerations: Only ONE SBP beneficiary can be named Previous spouses from earlier marriages may already occupy the "SBP chair" Premium costs must be negotiated Former spouse can be SBP beneficiary even without receiving pension payments Time-sensitive: Required forms must be submitted within specific timeframe or rights are lost Cannot be automatically transferred - requires proper paperwork TRICARE Benefits Courts CANNOT order TRICARE coverage - falls under federal rules Key rules: 20-20-20 (full benefits for life), 20-20-15 (transitional benefits) Based on: length of marriage, service member's creditable years, overlap period COBRA-like option available if don't meet other rules GI Bill Transfer Must be transferred WHILE married - cannot go to former spouse after divorce Service member can rescind the transfer Can be transferred to children as alternative Settlement agreement language is critical to protect this benefit Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Multiple TSPs possible (civilian federal employee spouse, reservist who went active duty) Pre-tax and Roth portions have different tax consequences Must account for outstanding loans Requires Retirement Benefits Court Order (different from pension division order) Not always split - can use offset method with other assets Other Unique Military Assets to Consider Military leave - has monetary value on LES Credit card points and miles - can be worth $30,000-$40,000 USAA Subscriber Savings Account Pets - especially valuable show animals Life insurance policies Tax Implications Filing status changes Tax bracket shifts Capital gains considerations when dividing assets Pre-tax accounts (traditional IRA, 401k) vs. post-tax accounts have different real values Child tax credits and claiming dependents Early withdrawal penalties Marital vs. Separate Property Separate property: assets brought into marriage, inheritances, gifts (if kept separate and not commingled) Marital property: everything accumulated during marriage Characterization process is essential before division discussions Financial Mistakes to Avoid Making verbal agreements before completing full financial inventory Not understanding tax consequences of asset division Overlooking hidden assets (leave balance, points/miles, etc.) Rushing decisions - most divorce decisions have no do-overs Not considering pre-tax vs. post-tax asset values Misclassifying assets as marital or separate Practical First Steps Learn about all four divorce process options If abuse is present, seek legal counsel immediately Open credit card and bank account in your own name Create timeline of important dates and duty stations Gather supporting documents (tax returns, bank statements) in cloud storage Document account numbers, login credentials, passwords Consider consulting with CDFA before hiring representing attorney Supporting Someone Through Divorce Listen deeply and empathetically Avoid projecting your own divorce experience onto theirs Don't rush them into decisions Offer practical help (childcare, meals, house cleaning) Point them to resources (counselors, family services, professionals) Give them breathing room Key Takeaways Divorce in the military involves unique complexities beyond civilian divorces Court is not the only option - consider mediation or collaborative processes Complete financial inventory BEFORE making division decisions Everything accumulated during marriage is generally marital property Professional guidance (CDFA, attorney consultation) is an investment, not just a cost Most divorce decisions are final with no do-overs - New York City just proved once again that when politicians cry about 'affordable housing,' they're about to make it even MORE expensive. The city council is about to vote on requiring master plumbers for basic appliance installations like stoves and dryers - jobs that building supers and contractors have done safely for decades. With only 1,100 master plumbers for 7.5 million people, get ready for $500+ installation fees on top of already insane $4,000 monthly rents. They claim it's about 'safety,' but where's the epidemic of exploding stoves? This is a union shakedown, plain and simple, wrapped in the usual 'we're protecting you' nonsense. Meanwhile, these same politicians wonder why young professionals are fleeing to Texas and Florida. What did they expect when they keep layering regulation after regulation? Is anyone surprised that the city screaming about housing affordability just created another expensive monopoly? Subscribe if you're tired of watching blue cities shoot themselves in the foot while blaming everyone else for the mess they created.

The human interventions intended to make Louisiana's coastline habitable and productive over the past century have contributed to the region's most existential threats. Without redress, displaced river sediment, compromised wetlands, and land subsidence will increasingly expose the state to extreme storm surge and sea level rise. In 2007, following the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Louisiana adopted its Coastal Master Plan. More than 100 projects have been approved under the plan, including the $3 billion Mid Barataria Sediment Diversion. The largest project of its kind, the diversion was designed to regenerate 40 square miles of barrier wetlands by allowing the leveed river to flood the Barataria Basin. Construction began in 2023, but it was ultimately canceled by Governor Jeff Landry in July of 2025 due to financial and environmental objections. The arc of this project, from its design through its cancellation, exemplifies how complicated and divisive collective decision-making can become in the age of climate change. Projects scaled to meet major resilience issues are rarely able to serve the conflicting priorities, values, and interests of all stakeholders equally—and trade-offs can bring conflict at every step. The Water Institute CEO Beaux Jones and award-winning environmental journalist Boyce Upholt both return to the podcast—this time for a joint conversation about the dilemmas in Mississippi River management, conflicting interests and negotiations in coastal resilience, and what it all means for Louisiana's future. This week's episode wraps up New Work Fellowship's Know, Grow, Go series by diving deep into what it means to “Go”. Special guest April Oatts, New Work's Missions Coordinator, joins Josh, Michael, and Justin to share her personal journey of stepping into missions—both locally and internationally. April's story highlights how everyday moments, from corporate settings at AT&T to international mission trips, can become powerful opportunities to share Christ. The team also discusses Sunday's sermon, which focused on two core commands: giving like Jesus and going like Jesus. Justin shares practical tools like the “three circles” and a 90-second testimony for having faith conversations, while April emphasizes the importance of bold, timely conversations rather than waiting for the “perfect” relationship.
