Hi I'm Alan Adcock owner of ASC Group here in Atlanta Georgia. Welcome to Cyber Sentinel. In this video we're joined by Steve Nevin of B2B CFO. Welcome Steve. Yes thank you very much it's a pleasure to be here. So tell me a little bit about B2B CFO and what you guys do for business owners. So we are a national firm of strategic advisors serving the owners of privately held businesses across the country. Our focus is primarily on improving cash flow and company value. We deliver our expertise and services to deal with issues in accounting, finance operations, company growth and many of our clients have engaged us specifically to help them transition their business to an exit. An out, a sale to a family member. So there's a lot in there but there's over 200 of us across the U.S. and I guess the last count is we're serving about 1600 small business owners in just about every industry today. That's awesome. So you mentioned cash flow, I know right now we're kind of trying to restart the economy after the covid 19 lockdowns. Tell me a little bit about what you're seeing across your client base. #SteveNevin #CyberSentinel #AlanAdcock
Cyber Sentinel - How Can a Staffing Company help You? | Guest - Capri Barnette Hi Everybody this is Alan Adcock and welcome to Cyber Sentinel. On this episode we've got Capri Barnett who is the owner of People Plus Solutions staffing agency down in Henry County Georgia. I met Capri over at the Georgia Staffing Association. Capri, welcome to the show. Thank you and thanks so much for having me. Excellent thanks for joining us today. So in cybersecurity, we talk about the pillars being people, process and technology. Obviously people touches on staffing and the staffing industry in general. So you know how can using a staffing company like yours help a business owner especially right now given all the uncertainty in the markets with you know lockdowns we've been through with the Covid and all the unrest we've got going on. How can using a staffing company help me as a business owner? In a lot of ways especially right now. Like you say given the market there's so much uncertainty around Covid and hiring and people are laying off and downsizing and then bringing people back and what we find is companies come to us to help manage that risk. So if they're doing furloughs and they're doing layoffs and they don't know when they're going to bring people back they can utilize us to fill in those gaps during those times and then especially with covid where codes confirm there's a lot of risk that we don't know. So you've got a lot of safety issues there involved you've got a lot of fear they're involved.
Strategic Leadership | Cyber Sentinel - Guest Patrick Houlahan Hi everybody, welcome to Cyber Sentinel. I'm Alan Adcock and on this episode we're joined by Patrick Houlahan who is a CEO of Strategic Leadership Consultants. They're based here in Atlanta. Patrick tell us a little about what is going on over Strategic Leadership Consultants. Yeah a whole lot you know... Interestingly enough the focus of Strategic Leadership Consultants is to build inspired compassionate mission-driven leaders and you know kind of ways we go to marketers either through keynote speeches, working at national sales meetings, things of that nature but also consulting work where we work with teams on planning, debriefing, implementing leadership within an organization. So even during the Covid shut down we just shifted over and started working behind the scenes and setup up on the stage. That's great, I mean with this technology platform we can we can do a lot of those kind of meetings and episodes like this where we're just doing it remote. So when you go into an organization or you go into to talk to a national sales meeting kind of thing what are your topics there? You're talking about leadership obviously it's in the name of the the company there. How do you go into that? How do you address that? Well you know there are a lot of organizations out there that they focus on leadership we're gonna teach your team's leadership skills. Then there are organizations that you know we're going to give you a process, we're going to teach you how to plan or how we're going to execute and the one thing that I found after my career in the military and in the military as well is that you really have to hit it from both sides. #AlanAdcock #ASCGroup #StrategicLeadership
Cyber Security Risk Assessments | Cyber Sentinel Cybersecurity risk assessments today on Cyber Sentinel. Hi I'm Alan Adcock I am CEO of ASC group we're a cybersecurity and IT management company based here in Atlanta Georgia and this is Cyber Sentinel. On Cyber Sentinal we talk about ways to keep you and your company safe online Cyber Sentinal we talk about ways to keep you and your company safe online. Let's get to a couple of questions for this episode. So in most cases security controls are implemented in a reactive nature after a breach has taken place. So we want to get to that where we're thinking about doing things proactively because the number of cybersecurity breaches over the last years has been rapidly increasing. So we want to get to where we're looking at this as a persistent business risk. The way that we do this and we evolved into a cyber security risk management posture is by starting with security assessment. Once that assessment is completed then we can look at where the gaps are in your network security and then start to address those gaps hopefully in a proactive method rather than it being in a reactive position. So that all starts with that risk assessment based on what the results of your risk assessment are. We'll know what controls need to be implemented in your organization and without having that risk assessment really don't know where your starting point is. So to address the question of what can I do proactively it all starts with a risk assessment. So that we're gonna go through and identify those gaps. Yes we will look at best practices in any IT space.
Consultants and Outsourcing | Cyber Sentinel Hello I'm Alan Adcock I'm CEO of ASC Group we're an Atlanta based IT consulting firm and this show is Cyber Sentinel where we talk about cyber issues and IT issues affecting your small to medium-sized business. So we see this quite a bit where if you're a one-man IT department folks are often reluctant to bring in an outside consulting company like us so it is true that we do provide full service IT to outsourcing for many of our clients. Most of our longest serving clients that have been with us for decades, we work very closely with their IT departments and their IT directors. So we really extend what their capability is. Earlier in my career before founding ASC Group I served as an intern internal IT director. So I know what that life is like. You know back then it was a complicated job took a lot of time a lot of energy and today with the advanced cyber threats that are out there. All the new cloud technologies and just increased complexity overall. It's really difficult for a one or two man IT shop to be up to speed on all those technologies. So we come in beside those IT departments and really augment what they do. Depending upon what that engagement looks like. The engagements differ some clients we come in and offload things like workstation support, helpdesk, that type of support. Other organizations, we come in and just do cybersecurity solutions. Sometimes we come in and do cybersecurity solutions, networking server management.

Can your data be compromised if you're connected when you're out and about? Find out today on Cyber Sentinel. Welcome to Cyber Sentinel. I'm Alan Adcock. I'm CEO of ASC Group. We, on this show, talk about ways to defend your data and keep your company safe online. You can find us on social media at #cybersentinel and we wanna have your questions so we can answer those on our show. Do small businesses need to be concerned about data privacy? So yes, all businesses need to be concerned about data privacy. We see data breaches reported in the news on a regular basis. You've probably gotten a letter in the mail saying that your data had been breached. I got one of these from the National Archives, of all places, that they had disclosed all of my personal data many years ago. So, in general, small businesses don't have good data privacy policies in place and systems to secure that data. Definitely wanna review that in your organization. Make sure that that data is stored in secure locations on your network. Make sure it's encrypted and make sure that your staff are trained on how to handle this. Some industries, like the medical field, have good regulations on how to do this, through the HIPAA rulings, that they are required to adhere to, but all businesses need to be thinking about how to keep that secure data, or that sensitive data secured so they don't disclose that information on their clients on the web. Is public wifi safe to use? Yeah, so public wifi is an issue that comes up a lot. Everywhere you go now, there is public wifi. People are very used to connecting to public wifi access points with all their devices, their telephones, tablets, laptops. There's a lot of things to be concerned about and to think about before you get connected. Oftentimes, we'll find that people will go into an establishment, look at the wifi that's being broadcast and just pick one and connect. You don't know for sure that that is the actual establishment's wifi. If you connect to a rogue access point that someone has set up, then they're gonna be able to track all of the information you send over that access point. If you're trying to access secure systems, putting your password to login to websites, they're gonna capture all that information. So be very careful when you connect to public wifi that you're connected to the legitimate access points for that establishment and not something that's been set up as a rogue access point.

Welcome to Cyber Sentinel. My name is Alan Adcock. I'm CEO of ASC Group, an IT consulting firm here in Atlanta, Georgia. On Cyber Sentinel, we address questions that you send into us over the internet, and so let's get to it. - [Narrator] What is the Dark Web? - If you're not familiar with Dark Web, Dark Web is kinda this secured area on the internet that you have to use tools like something called TOR, which is the onion router, to go in and access these sites in an anonymous way. And so, the Dark Web is a place where there's all kinds of things for sale, information, you can buy credit cards, you can buy personal records, you can buy information to use for doing IRS tax refund scams, all of the malware virus toolkits, rootkit toolkits, all that good stuff is for sale on the Dark Web. So anyway, there's a site called the Wall Street Market. It was taken down, primarily in Germany. A lot of people's houses got raided over this. So, some of the interesting stuff that came out of this article, on this one site on the Dark Web, there were 5400 sellers, so people offering up information and tools for sale on that, 1.1 million customer accounts had been created on this site for buyers, and there were about 63000 items open for sale at the time that they were able to take this thing offline. So, that kinda gives you an example of the scale of what's out there in the Dark Web. Most people would love for their, most small businesses would love for their website, their online store to have those kinda numbers for their legitimate goods, as these guys had. But that one is no more. So, through a large effort globally, Europol was able to take this one offline and give us a win for the good guys.

Find out the answer to how we can stop that, as well as other cyber security issues, today on Cyber Sentinel. Welcome to Cyber Sentinel, I'm Alan Adcock. I'm CEO of ASC Group here in Atlanta, and on this episode we're gonna talk about some more ways to keep your data safe and defend your corporate network. We want to hear more questions from you, so find us on social media at #CyberSentinel and we'll get those questions answered. - [Narrator] Are there steps I should take before using public wifi? - So public wifi comes up a lot. We've talked before about making sure you're connected to a legitimate public access point. Other things to consider, the PC or Mac that you're using, is that encrypted, are you using proper password controls on that device? If you need to access corporate data or financial data from a public location, please make sure that you've got a VPN software client on your machine, that you've connected to that VPN before you go and access that data. Things like, personal email, things like that, probably not a big deal. Corporate mail, always assume that that corporate mail, someone's gonna read that, so that, again, you might want to be connected to a VPN before accessing that. Make sure that you've got good malware protection on there, your antivirus is up to date. All those general good machine hygiene items before using public wifi.
Cyber Sentinel Episode 002: The Mueller Report www.ASCGrp.com LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/2DlO6Lq LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanadcock/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2IuqhoO Twitter: https://twitter.com/ascgrp #TheMuellerReport #ASCGrp #AlanAdcock #CyberSentinel #ITSecurity #CyberSecurity #RussiaHacking So the big news recently is the Mueller Report came out of Washington. There's a whole lot of technical jargon in that report and we're going to discuss some of those items today on Cyber Sentinel. Hello this is Alan Adcock I'm CEO of ASC Group here in Atlanta Georgia. Today on Cyber Sentinel we're gonna be talking about the Mueller Report. Big topic in news recently.... there's a lot of technical jargon in that report and we're gonna go over some of those items in case you may not know be familiar with what those are in this episode of cyber Sentinel. If you have other questions that you want us to address on Cyber Sentinel please reach out to us on social media at #CyberSentinel what is Spearphishing? So spearphishing appears in the Mueller report eleven times. spearphishing is a form of a phishing attack. Phishing is an email type of attack where people will send you a message that is designed to deceive you into clicking links or downloading attachments attached to that email. Spear phishing is a form of that attack that is highly targeted at you. Specifically so they will monitor your email traffic everything you send via email is unencrypted across the internet and anybody can read it. Just keep that in mind. And so in this case the perpetrator is going to be watching your email traffic and seeing who you correspond to with on a regular basis. And they're gonna craft a message that looks like somebody you usually communicate with and try to convince you to click on those links.

A couple of things in the news we've got a cybersecurity issue in Jackson County where they had to pay $400,000 in a ransom to get their data back. We'll talk about ways to prevent that and other risk to your data. We want to have your questions as well for future episodes so find us on social media at #CyberSentinel. Are there rules for keeping your data safe in the Cloud? There are definitely rules to look at for keeping data safe in the cloud. The cloud really is just an extension of the local network. So if your machine that you're using to access those Cloud resources is compromised they're gonna have access to that cloud resource as well. So keeping those machines clean and making sure that they don't have compromises on them is critical. Whether the servers are on site or in the cloud it doesn't really matter. Second thing to worry about with cloud based applications is the logins. On a local area network you've got your password management in the cloud. You have password management as well and it's super critical because those resources can be attacked 24/7 from anywhere in the world because they're cloud-based. So definitely need to make sure you have strong password policies. Make sure those passwords are changed frequently if the cloud resource offers something called two-factor authentication to FA or MFA multi-factor authentication. Definitely want to look at turning those on. That is the best way to make sure that your accounts are not being accessed by people other than you or authorized personnel.
