In this episode, Mark Longo, Russell Rhoads (Dr. VIX), and Scott Nations dive deep into a massive divergence brewing under the surface of the equity indexes. While S&P 500 volatility is sitting quietly at seasonal lows, Nasdaq 100 volatility tells a completely different story as tech and AI anticipation ramps up ahead of Microsoft's pivotal earnings report. Key Topics Covered: The Volatility Review: Breaking down a massive two-week crush that dragged VIX cash down nearly 4 points, alongside drops in VOLY and the VVIX. The Nasdaq vs. S&P Divergence: Scott explains how VolDex measures show completely different volatility regimes for tech vs. broad market index options. The Tech "Canary": Why Russell has Microsoft's upcoming July 29th year-end earnings report circled as the ultimate reality check for the AI boom. VIX Futures & The Return of Volume: June options volume just put up a historic 1.6 billion contracts. Why are traders suddenly piling back into VIX futures? The "Dark Web" of Vol Trades: Analyzing a bizarre, deep-in-the-money August put spread and a massive November VIX call strip paired with a 1x6 put ratio spread. Crystal Ball: Predictions for where VIX and VOLI land by next week.

In July 2018, 15-year-old Alexis Stern learned from police that someone had ordered a hit on her using a dark web murder-for-hire site, ran by a shadowy figure named Yura. Alexis believed her ex-boyfriend, Adrian Fry, was behind the plot because he sent her threatening messages after discovering she was in a new relationship. "48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant reports. This classic "48 Hours" episode last aired on 4/10/2021. Watch all-new episodes of “48 Hours” on Saturdays and stream on demand on Paramount+.
What is the terrifying change currently sweeping the UK that big tech is ignoring? Trafficking expert Dr. Allison McClement reveals the industrialization of child abuse and how the apps we use every day have become tools for predators. From the 850% increase in live-streamed abuse since the pandemic to the shocking "Netflix-style" platforms hosting this content on the normal web, this interview uncovers an economic engine of depravity. We dive deep into the specific dangers of platforms like Roblox, the emergence of the "Com" and "764" groups targeting young children, and the statistical anomalies in the UK's grooming gang inquiries that suggest a much larger, darker cover-up. Why is law enforcement struggling to keep up, and why are the world's most powerful tech companies doing so little to stop it? This is a wake-up call for every parent and citizen. Watch until the end to understand the full depth of what's being hidden and how the "savior complex" of political elites might be fueling the fire. #AndrewGold #Heretics #BigTech #OnlineSafety #Whistleblower #DrAllisonMcClement #Roblox #764 #TrueCrime #DigitalSafety Chapters 0:00 The Terrifying Change Big Tech Ignores 2:08 The 850% Surge in Live-Streamed Abuse 4:32 The "Netflix for Predators" Exposed 7:15 Paying 95p to Direct Real-Time Torture 10:12 Why It's Not Just on the Dark Web 13:45 The "Self-Generated" Image Lie 16:01 Why Roblox Is Every Parent's Nightmare 18:33 The Rise of the "Com" & 764 Groups 21:55 The Dark Reality of Female Predators 25:40 Is Meta Profiting From This Silence? 29:15 Why Big Tech Refuses to Use AI to Stop It 32:44 The Privacy vs. Protection Paradox 35:30 "Just Remove the Chat": A Simple Solution 38:05 Bacha Bazi: The "Cultural" Abuse We Ignore 42:48 The Statistical Impossibility of Grooming Gang Data 46:12 The "Red Room" Testimony They Buried 49:50 Why Politicians Refuse to Turn Over the Rocks 53:22 The Dangerous Elitism of Jess Phillips 57:55 How the "Savior Complex" Silences Real Victims Learn more about your ad choices. He had a Cambridge degree, a respected lecturing job, and a Twitter feed full of awkward selfies and dinosaur photos. To anyone who knew him, Matthew Falder seemed completely harmless. But behind that ordinary appearance, he was secretly operating on the dark web under the name “666devil”. What investigators eventually uncovered was so disturbing it took authorities from five countries four years to piece together the full extent of his crimes. When they finally arrested him, seasoned detectives said they had never encountered anything like it. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"Fraudsters move upstream... We aimed all of our fraud prevention at the checkout. Where did they go? Upstream to the account access." Ever wonder how cybercriminals manage to stay one step ahead of digital security? In this episode, Alexander Hall from IPQS takes you behind the scenes while we were at the Safeguard Conference in Colorado. Many businesses focus all their security energy purely on the final checkout page, but the threat landscape is shifting fast. We talk about the hidden traps currently being set across the internet, why traditional security scores often miss the big picture, and how the industry is fighting back. If you want to know how your data is being targeted—and the clever network setups being used to stop attackers before they ever reach a real user—this conversation is a must-watch. Whether you run an online business, work in tech, or just want to understand how the underground economy works, this interview offers a fascinating look into the future of online safety. Checkout ou IPQS here: https://www.ipqualityscore.com -------------------------------------------- ➡️ Did you catch the biggest takeaway from our IPQS interview? Fraudsters have moved upstream. That is where IPQS comes in (www.ipqualityscore.com). Trusted by Fortune 500 companies, IPQS uses a global network of over 10,000 live dark web honeypots and real-time Fraud Fusion™ technology to instantly flag account takeovers, malicious residential proxies, and sophisticated botnets before the damage is done. In 2018, researchers at MIT unveiled an artificial intelligence so disturbing it earned a name straight out of a psychological thriller: Norman (as in Bates). Unlike typical AIs, Norman was exposed to some of the darkest corners of the internet, causing it to see horror in the mundane. Though designed as an experiment, Norman became a cautionary tale about how artificial minds can mirror humanity's most disturbing tendencies. Before Bitcoin became mainstream, criminals were already using cryptocurrency to move money, hide illegal activity, and stay ahead of law enforcement. So how do investigators track financial crimes built around systems designed to be difficult to trace? In this episode, Justin sits down with IRS Special Agent Don Ellsworth, a federal investigator who started working crypto and dark web cases before most people even understood what Bitcoin was. From Silk Road investigations to ransomware attacks and international crypto scams, this conversation breaks down how financial investigators follow digital money trails across borders and why nearly every major crime eventually connects back to money. Key Topics: What the criminal investigative side of the IRS does How Bitcoin and cryptocurrency changed financial crimes Why criminals were years ahead of law enforcement in crypto International task forces, Interpol, and global investigations Crypto ransom cases, ransomware attacks, and hospital hacks This episode is for anyone interested in investigations, cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, fraud, or how modern law enforcement adapts to rapidly changing technology. It may also challenge the common belief that crypto is completely anonymous or that financial crimes only affect wealthy investors and corporations. Behind nearly every major criminal operation is a financial trail, and this conversation reveals how investigators work to follow it. Subscribe to the podcast to ensure you never miss an episode! Before launching BlockScout Research, Comer built and operated one of the largest Bitcoin mining operations in the United States—giving him a rare, inside understanding of digital infrastructure, blockchain activity, and how illicit financial networks operate beneath the surface. Today, his company works at the front lines of digital investigation—analyzing hidden financial flows, encrypted communications, and dark web marketplaces tied to human trafficking, organized crime, and other underground economies. What he uncovers is both powerful—and deeply concerning. While his work has helped law enforcement agencies globally intervene before crimes fully develop, the response within the United States has been mixed. At both the local and federal levels, there are barriers, hesitation, and missed opportunities—despite the fact that the intelligence is actionable and often time-sensitive. In contrast, agencies in other countries have been far more receptive—actively using this data to disrupt criminal operations and protect victims. At the local level, sheriffs and law enforcement officials who do engage with this intelligence have a real opportunity to act early—to stop human trafficking networks before financing is fully established and, in many cases, to locate and rescue victims—often children—from unimaginable situations. This is a critical conversation about what's possible right now—and what's being left on the table. It starts with a message in a group chat: a man asking for advice on exactly how much sedative to slip into his wife’s tea tonight so he can sexually assault her while she's unconscious. Following the horrific 2024 trial of Dominique Pelicot in France, a new investigation has revealed that this wasn't an isolated case, but a thriving global ecosystem. From 'sleep' content on major porn sites to private forums where men livestream their drugged partners for a fee, the scale of this internet-enabled abuse is staggering. We’re joined by CNN Paris Bureau Chief Saskya Vandoorne, who infiltrated these secret 'brotherhoods' to expose how these men operate under the cover of anonymity and why platforms are still failing to stop them. The dark web is often misunderstood, but it plays an important role in both privacy technology and cybercrime activity. In this episode, Tom Eston speaks with cybersecurity researcher and educator John Hammond about what the dark web actually is and how it has evolved in recent years. The discussion covers underground marketplaces, ransomware leak sites, threat intelligence collection, and the operational risks involved in dark web investigations. Peoples & Things host, Lee Vinsel, and guest host, Paula Bialski, Associate Professor of Digital Sociology at University of St. Gallen, talk to Ben Collier, Senior Lecturer in Digital Methods in the Science, Technology, and Innovation Studies department at the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh, about his book, _Tor: From the Dark Web to the Future of Privacy_, as well as some of his other work. The book examines one of the most important and misunderstood technologies of the digital age, Tor, the overlay network that allows for anonymous communication, best known as the infrastructure underpinning the so-called Dark Web. Collier takes a community-centered approach and examines the many different reasons and motivations people become involved in using and maintaining the platform. The trio also talk about various other projects and themes, including Collier's current project on the visual and aesthetic standardization of public security infrastructure, like barriers and bollards. Today Allie discusses the ethical implications of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's deportation operations, highlighting the lack of due process and the high number of asylum-seekers affected. She contrasts the current outrage with historical actions under President Obama. Allie also critiques the media's role in manipulating public sentiment and questions the authenticity of recent protests over the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Additionally she addresses the ethical concerns surrounding surrogacy — like Meghan Trainor's newest baby — citing the exploitation of women and the psychological impact on children. Dark Web Stories | Paranormal Podcast This week, we dive deep into the hidden corners of the internet to explore the Dark Web—what it is, how it works, and the disturbing realities lurking beneath the surface. We begin by breaking down the structure of the internet itself, explaining how the surface web we use daily represents only 5-10% of all online content, while the deep web makes up 90-95%, and the dark web accounts for a mere 0.1% of sites—yet it's specifically designed for complete anonymity. We also discuss the technical side of accessing this hidden network, including how to download the Tor browser, the importance of using a VPN for protection, and the concept of "onion routing" that wraps your data in layers of encryption as it bounces through volunteer-run servers across the globe. While we acknowledge there are legitimate uses for the Dark Web—such as helping journalists and activists in oppressive regimes communicate securely and bypass government censorship—we make it clear that over half of the Dark Web is estimated to be dedicated to illegal activities, from marketplaces selling drugs, weapons, and stolen data to far more sinister operations. The second half of our episode takes a darker turn as we share real accounts and disturbing discoveries from those who've ventured into these digital shadows, including websites selling human organs for cryptocurrency, platforms offering "human meat" with the slogan "for those with taste," and hitman services listing everything from drive-by shootings to arson. We recount a chilling story from a Reddit user who befriended someone in a Dark Web chat room known for posting extreme gore content, only to later learn the person was fatally shot in a police raid after kidnapping a missing woman and performing an ice pick lobotomy on her to keep her compliant for his videos.
