DwD 0719: Goals After a Driving Event Unfortunately, most of us do not have unlimited track time or money, so we should be trying to make everything we can with our limited time resource. As an example, we go through the things that Vicki learned at her last event with Ross Bentley and what her plans are going to her next event, plus a bit of practice she can do while driving on regular roads. It is definitely worth a try and will help you develop into the best driver/racer you can be. Did we miss something? Please let us know at GarageHeroesInTraining@Gmail.com. Jeffrey Konvitz was born in New York City, but after graduating from Cornell University and Columbia Law School, he headed to Los Angeles, where he lives and works as an entertainment finance attorney, producer (The Sentinel and Spy Hard, among others) and novelist. His first published novel (Simon and Schuster and Ballantine) was The Sentinel, which rose to Number 2 on the New York Times Mass Market Best Seller List. The Sentinel sequel, The Guardian, was also a bestseller along with his next book, Monster. He is now at work on the third book in The Sentinel Trilogy, currently untitled, while The Sentinel and The Guardian are being mounted for e-book sales. His latest historical novel, The Circus of Satan, is a story of murder and revenge. It is set during the rise of organized crime in America from 1900 to 1912 when the Irish Mob ruled all major American cities, only to be taken down by its own hubris and the rise of the Jewish and Italian Mobs into labor racketeering and, then, bootlegging. Filled with real events and real heroes and villains, who rampaged from New York's Bowery through to Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City and Boston, it is the story of epic, transformative times and two violent men, who meet on a descent into blood and Hell. The author spends most of his spare time on tennis courts, on skis, on basketball courts, and in poker tournaments. The rest of his spare time is spent seeking the perfect word, the perfect sentence, the perfect phrase and the perfect characterization, a most challenging endeavor.Make sure to check out this author & stay in touch at—https://www.circusofsatan.com/You can listen to the podcast on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, or visit my website www.drkatherinehayes.com•••#authors #podcast #interview #apple #spotify #google #authorsofinstagram #books #read #reader #writerscommunity #listen #writer #write #mayhem #authorlife #author #bookstagram #blog #book #booklover #authorssupportingauthors #writersofinstagram #writers #readersofinstagram #readersofig #readersgonnaread #mystery #diversebooksmatter #JeffreyKonvitz #TheCircusOfSatan TheSentinel

Send us a textLarry Persily is the Anchorage-based owner and publisher of the weekly newspaper the Wrangell Sentinel. Larry and his wife Leslie Murray first purchased that newspaper in 1976 when they moved to Wrangell from Chicago. After almost 50 years as an on-again off-again journalist at various publications such as the Anchorage Times, the Associated Press, the Juneau Empire, & the Anchorage Daily News, Larry re-purchased the Wrangell Sentinel in 2021.In 2019 he purchased the newspaper in Skagway, Alaska, and then offered to give away the Skagway News instead of running it remotely from Anchorage. He ultimately sold that paper for $20.He has also worked at the federal, state, and municipal levels on oil and gas and fiscal policy including as staff in the Alaska legislature for Rep. Mike Hawker, an Anchorage Republican, and Rep. John Lincoln, a Kotzebue Independent. Although our focus today is on the Alaska media, we do discuss his time as the Federal Coordinator for Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects -- a position he was appointed to by President Barack Obama -- and the prospects for an Alaska natural gas pipeline today.

In this milestone 350th episode of Life Along the Streetcar, we revisit the story that launched the show, Mission Garden, but with a fresh and powerful perspective. Our guest is Alyce Sadongei, the current director of Mission Garden and a nationally recognized voice in Indigenous cultural preservation. With a background that includes years at the Smithsonian Institution, where she supported tribal communities in building museums and protecting native languages, Alyce brings deep expertise, vision, and heart to her work in Tucson. In this conversation, Alyce shares how her leadership is helping Mission Garden evolve from a historical site into a living, breathing space for education, community, sustainability, and cultural connection. From waffle gardens and heirloom fruit trees to endangered aquatic plants and the surprising arrival of a mud turtle, this episode reveals how one garden is telling thousands of years of Tucson's story under the guidance of someone uniquely qualified to do so.

Send us a textIn today's daily drop, Peaches blasts through the latest ops headlines like a Hellfire through a Toyota Hilux. From exposing our hilariously thin missile reserves to roasting tech bros whose drones crumble outside PowerPoint presentations, this one's a full-body workout in situational awareness. AFRICOM's been busy lighting up Somalia, the National Guard's turning Northern Michigan into a drone graveyard, and Space Force is slinging lasers and quantum gadgets into orbit like it's Star Wars cosplay. Meanwhile, Air Force Global Strike Command promises a “seamless” transition—LOL—and another Humvee goes full NASCAR in Wyoming. Also, Tricare might finally stop fleecing military families for having adult kids. That's not just news, that's a miracle. Buckle up, team. This episode's got more truth than a cleared EPR.

This episode is based off a Fox News article that explores the advancements in underwater living, highlighting how innovative habitats are making it a viable frontier for human settlement. It discusses the historical context of underwater modules, from Jacques Cousteau's early experiments to NASA's Aquarius Reef Base, and details cutting-edge technologies being developed by companies like DEEP. The text focuses on DEEP's Vanguard prototype for testing and gathering feedback, and the larger Sentinel system designed for extended stays. Ultimately, the article suggests that these developments could lead to permanent human presence beneath the ocean, unlocking new discoveries and offering solutions to environmental challenges.#UnderwaterLiving #OceanHabitat #UnderwaterInnovation #DEEPVanguard #SentinelSystem #AquaticSettlement #OceanExploration #UnderwaterTechnology #JacquesCousteau #NASAAquarius #MarineDiscoveries #EnvironmentalSolutions #SubseaLiving #OceanFrontier #FutureUnderwaterhttp://atlantisseacolony.com/https://www.patreon.com/atlantisseacolonyhttps://discord.gg/jp5aSSkfNS

Machine learning scientist Gracie Ermi joins Charna Parkey to explore how AI and open-source satellite data are changing the way we understand land use, climate impact, and environmental risk. At Impact Observatory, she helps create high-resolution, publicly available maps used by educators, researchers, and global organizations alike. A conversation about the technical challenges behind these tools, what open access really looks like in practice, and the role AI plays in making environmental data faster and more useful. QuotesCharna Parkey“One of the most exciting things about where AI is headed is that we're finally expanding its use beyond language. Gracie's work is a prime example of how machine learning can interpret physical space, detect environmental change, and deliver insights that matter. It's a reminder that AI isn't just a chatbot—it's a tool to see, sense, and protect the planet.” Gracie Ermi“The biggest innovation we need right now isn't necessarily a new AI model. It's better, cheaper satellite imagery—especially higher-resolution data that's still open access. Right now, we're working mostly with Sentinel imagery, which has a 10-meter resolution. That's great for a lot of things, but it limits what you can detect. Individual buildings, small changes—they get lost at that scale. If higher-res data became more affordable or openly available, it would change everything.” Timestamps00:00:00 – Introduction to Gracie Ermi and Impact Observatory's mission using AI and open data for environmental monitoring.00:02:00 – Gracie shares how she discovered computer science and open source, and how that shaped her interest in using tech for impact.00:04:00 – Why Gracie chose to work at a mission-driven organization that prioritizes open access and environmental good.00:06:00 – Real-world uses of Impact Observatory's open-source maps00:08:00 – Challenges around tracking open-source usage and the tension between openness and attribution in the ecosystem.00:10:00 – How AI speeds up the creation of land-use maps00:12:00 – Discussion on classical computer vision versus GenAI in geospatial work00:14:00 – The technical limitations of current satellite imagery, particularly resolution and frequency, and how they affect output.00:16:00 – Ethical considerations of increasing image resolution and what it might mean for privacy and surveillance.00:18:00 – Reflections on unexpected risks and consequences that come with technological advancement in mapping.00:24:00 – Advice for people with nontraditional backgrounds who want to enter AI or conservation tech.00:26:00 – How Gracie uses GenAI tools like ChatGPT to overcome creative friction and emotional resistance to complex tasks.00:28:00 – How large language models might help make geospatial tools more accessible, and what's next for the field.
