Some of us know this story well. Some of us are still figuring out what it means. But all of us need to hear it again. Don't let us forget what his suffering cost — or what it made possible for us. Amen. PRELUDE & LIGHTING OF THE ALTAR CANDLES “What Wondrous Love Is This“ HYMN: “Take My Life and Let it Be” - #399 CALL TO WORSHIP: Leader: Before you walked through those doors this morning, God was already here. Not waiting — reaching. The same way God has been reaching for you all week long. People: Some of us felt it. Some of us are still waiting to. But something kept drawing us back to this place. Leader: That was God. In the middle of a Tuesday that wouldn't end. In the quiet of a house that felt too empty. At the kitchen table when you didn't know what to pray anymore. People: God was there even when our prayers felt like talking to the ceiling. Especially then. Leader: So now we gather. Not as strangers who happen to sit in the same room — but as one body. We carry each other's doubt. Each other's exhaustion. Each other's stubborn hope. People: We are not alone in this. We have never been alone in this. Leader: And Christ is here. Walking with us toward Jerusalem. Toward the cross. We don't fully understand why it had to be this way. People: But we trust the one who's walking it with us. Leader: So come as you are. Fully. Every last bit of you. People: We come with everything we've got. We worship — because even now, especially now, God is making something new out of all of us. You never stop making things new — and we need you to do that in us, too. You offer us new life through Christ. Not someday, but today. Open our hearts. Fill us with your Holy Spirit. Change what needs changing. Soften what's gotten hard. We are here to worship you, and we don't want to leave the same way we came in. In your holy name we pray. Amen. People: God's love and strength are as a rod and staff for us. Leader: God will give us abundantly from God's own love. HYMN: “Through It All” HYMN: “Sweet Hour of Prayer” - #496 PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Faithful God, you made us to live close to you — to trust your voice, to follow where your Spirit leads, to love the people you love. But we turn away. We choose our own path. And when we do, fear rushes in to fill the space we've left. We grow quiet when your Spirit nudges us to speak. We hold back when your Spirit pushes us to act. We look away from the injustice right in front of us — and we do it together. Our silence becomes something we share. This grieves your heart. Forgive us for the turning — for choosing fear over the Spirit who was right there. By your perfect love, cast out every fear that has made its home in us. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
