Welcome to an extraordinary edition of the Takin’ A Walk podcast from Buzz Knight music and the “Master of Music Mayhem,” Harry Jacobs. This comprehensive look at weekly music history explores one of the most emotionally complex weeks in rock and roll history, spanning December 8th through December 14th. From tragic losses to groundbreaking debuts, this week encompasses the full spectrum of music history’s most pivotal moments. John Lennon’s Assassination: December 8, 1980 - A Day That Changed Music Forever The episode opens with perhaps the darkest day in rock music history: December 8, 1980, when John Lennon was shot and killed outside The Dakota apartment building in New York City. Buzz Knight and Harry Jacobs provide intimate personal recollections of this Beatles tragedy that shocked the world. For listeners of this weekly music history episode note the Buzz Knight music podcast replay of "Takin A Walk" with the incredible Julian Lennon. The Beatles Reunion: Free as a Bird and the Anthology Era Moving from tragedy to reunion, the episode explores December 9, 1995, when the Beatles released “Free as a Bird”—the first new Beatles music in 24 years. Both hosts were working together at WZLX in Boston during this momentous release, bringing their firsthand perspective to this Beatles reunion moment. The track, built around a John Lennon demo with contributions from Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, represented a technological and emotional achievement in music history. Harry admits his initial underwhelm with the track, noting that while “Free as a Bird” generated enormous curiosity worldwide, it never achieved the status of Beatles classics like “Ticket to Ride,” “Help!,” or songs from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The honest assessment reflects how even beloved artists can struggle to recapture past magic, and both hosts acknowledge they haven’t revisited the song since its release. This candid discussion provides valuable context for understanding fan expectations versus artistic reality in music reunion projects. The Blues Brothers Phenomenon: From Saturday Night Live to Cultural Institution December 9, 1978 marks the Saturday Night Live debut of the Blues Brothers, a moment that transformed comedy sketch into legitimate musical force. The episode provides deep insights into how Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi created this blues and R&B supergroup, enlisting Paul Shaffer, Lou Marini, Duck Dunn, and Steve Cropper, who just passed away—the latter two being legendary members of Booker T. and the MGs and key figures in the Stax Records sound that defined Memphis soul music and produced classics like “Soul Man” and “Green Onions.” Howard Shore, who served as Saturday Night Live’s musical director, recognized the potential in Aykroyd and Belushi’s blues performances and helped facilitate their transition from comedy bit to recording artists. The hosts discuss how this comedy-music crossover assembled world-class musicians around a satirical concept that became genuinely respected in the music community. The Blues Brothers represented a unique fusion of comedy and music that introduced younger audiences to blues legends and R&B classics. The conversation explores Tom “Bones” Malone, a guest on Buzz’s podcast, who joined the Blues Brothers band and played trombone with Blood, Sweat & Tears before becoming part of the SNL band. The episode details the evolution of the band from initial concept to full touring and recording entity, with Buzz noting the impressive live performances featuring the Blues Brothers’ acrobatic stage show, where the larger-than-life Belushi performed cartwheels, splits, and handstands that would later inspire Chris Farley’s physical comedy style. The Blues Brothers soundtrack, featuring “Briefcase Full of Blues” and subsequent albums, has “stood the test of time” according to both hosts. Songs like “Rubber Biscuit,” performed with Matt “Guitar” Murphy, and the memorable Aretha Franklin diner scene where Jake orders “four fried chickens and a Coke,” remain embedded in popular culture. The authentic musicianship combined with comedic brilliance created something that transcended both genres, making the Blues Brothers a permanent fixture in American music history. Otis Redding’s Legacy and Tragic Death: December 10, 1967 The episode takes a somber turn with December 10, 1967, the day Otis Redding died in a plane crash near Madison, Wisconsin, along with members of the Bar-Kays. The timing of this tragedy magnifies its impact—Redding had recorded ”(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” just three days earlier, and the song hadn’t yet been released. The track became a posthumous number-one hit, cementing Redding’s status as one of soul music’s greatest artists, though he never lived to see its success. Wings Over America: McCartney’s Epic Live Album - December 10, 1976 December 10, 1976 brought the release of Wings Over America, Paul McCartney’s triple live album documenting his 1975-1976 tour with Wings. The episode explores the rarity of triple albums in music history, particularly live albums of such scope and ambition. The hosts discuss the bootleg album called “Wings from Wings” that allegedly forced McCartney’s hand, rushing the official release to market before bootleggers could dominate sales. Harry reveals the meticulous production process behind Wings Over America, noting that McCartney collected 8,000 hours of live recordings from the tour. The legendary Beatles bassist and singer then personally mixed the album, listening to five different versions of every song before selecting the best performances. The final album was crafted to sound like a single concert experience, though it actually represented the best moments culled from the entire tour—a production approach that set standards for live albums. The episode highlights how “Maybe I’m Amazed” from this album became the definitive version for many fans, surpassing even the studio recording in emotional power and musical execution. The album also featured several Beatles songs including “Yesterday” and “Bluebird,” allowing McCartney to honor his past while showcasing his post-Beatles work with Wings. This balance between Beatles nostalgia and new material demonstrated McCartney’s artistic evolution while satisfying longtime fans. Early Genesis and Progressive Rock Evolution December 11, 1972 saw Genesis release “Foxtrot,” their fifth studio album and a landmark in progressive rock history. The episode explores this Peter Gabriel-era Genesis and the band’s evolution through various lineups. Harry recalls “Watcher of the Skies” as a standout track, while both hosts discuss later Genesis classics like “The Carpet Crawlers” from “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.” The conversation reveals differing perspectives on Genesis eras, with Buzz preferring the Peter Gabriel period and later Phil Collins-fronted work, while Harry admits his fandom developed more during the “Trick of the Tail” era following Gabriel’s departure. This honest exchange reflects how progressive rock bands often created distinct identities across lineup changes, appealing to different audiences in different eras. Buzz shares a memorable concert experience seeing Genesis with double drumming featuring Phil Collins and Bill Bruford (renowned for his work with Yes and King Crimson). This unique configuration represented Genesis at a transitional moment, experimenting with expanded instrumentation before settling into the trio format that would define their later commercial success. The “Trick of the Tail” tour demonstrated the band’s ability to continue without their iconic frontman, eventually leading to Collins taking over lead vocals permanently. The episode takes an unexpected turn to December 12, 1901, when Guglielmo Marconi sent the first transatlantic radio signal from Cornwall to Newfoundland. This moment in broadcasting history laid the foundation for everything that followed, including the careers of Buzz and Harry as radio professionals. Harry jokes about Buzz working for Marconi in 1901, highlighting the self-deprecating humor that characterizes their chemistry while acknowledging that without Marconi’s invention, they would never have met or built careers in radio. This historical perspective reminds listeners that music distribution, radio broadcasting, and the entire infrastructure of modern music industry traces back to pioneering moments like Marconi’s transmission. The evolution of radio technology from those first signals to contemporary podcast production represents over a century of innovation that transformed how humans experience and share music globally. The Clash’s London Calling: Punk’s Masterpiece - December 14, 1979 December 14, 1979 saw the Clash release “London Calling” in the UK, a double album that transcended punk rock limitations to incorporate reggae, rockabilly, ska, and R&B influences. The hosts recall the album’s innovative approach, including the hidden track “Train in Vain,” which became a hit despite not being listed on the original album cover—a marketing trick that created mystique and rewarded attentive listeners. New Hope Daily SOAP - Daily Devotional Bible Reading

Daily Dose of Hope November 18, 2025   Scripture – Acts 2   Prayer: Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, That my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, That my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, That I always may be holy.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church daily Bible reading plan.  We have just started the book of Acts, after walking through all the Gospels.  What a great spiritual journey this has been and I'm so glad you have joined us!  Today, we walk through Acts 2.   I'm going to start by reading the first three verses, On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.  Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.  Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.    You guys, this is incredible.  First, let's talk about the roaring windstorm.  Throughout Scripture, wind is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.  In ancient Hebrew, we have the word, ruach, which means breath/wind/spirit and we see this word quite a bit in the Old Testament.  Wind represents the life-giving work of the Spirit.  Think about it.  In Genesis 2, God breathed life (ruach) into Adam.  In Ezekial 37, we are in the valley of dry bones and God has Ezekiel prophesy to the bones, saying "I will put my Spirit (ruach) in you and you will live."  In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit is typically referred to in the Greek as pneuma.  The Holy Spirit comes upon Mary to form life in her womb.  In John 3:5, Jesus tells Nicodemus that the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.    I can't help thinking, how many people need to experience the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit right now?  How many people are really struggling, barely holding on, languishing in doubt, pain, anger, cynicism?  Or maybe, you simply feel nothing?  There is NO true living without the presence of the Spirit, only existing.    Next, we have the tongues of fire.  Let's sit here for a second.  Fire is often descriptive of God in the Old Testament and it speaks to the purifying and refining work of the Holy Spirit.  In this sense, the Spirit causes things that are impure to become pure...lives, hearts. Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist says "I baptize you with water for repentance.  But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.  He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."  Peter speaks of the new Gentile believers as experiencing the Holy Spirit and having their hearts purified.    If something is pure, it is only one thing–pure gold, pure oxygen.  It isn't filled with contaminants or additives. It is totally and completely that one thing. I picture the Holy Spirit coming upon that group of believers on the day of Pentecost and purifying or refining their hearts so they would be totally and completely dedicated to the things of God, not half filled with the stuff of the world and half filled with the things of God.  I wonder that about our own hearts.  What contaminants have we allowed to seep in?  What do we need to purify? Come like a fire, Holy Spirit, and burn in us so that we can be pure and totally devoted to the things of Jesus.   Let's read some more Scripture, beginning with verse 4 (this is truly a paraphrase), All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.  This made a racket and a crowd forms...When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken...Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?  Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine."  And then Peter gets up and says, we aren't drunk, it's only 9 in the morning.  Let me tell you what his means...and he shares with them the Gospel, he speaks of how the Old Testament scriptures point to Jesus as the Messiah, he speaks of Jesus' ministry, his death, his resurrection and it says this,  Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?"  Peter replied, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."   And what happened? 3000 believed and were baptized.  The Holy Spirit came, the people were given power to act, and they did it!  They trusted God and they responded.  This was essentially the beginning of the church.  At the end of chapter 2, we see how the people begin to gather to worship Jesus, to pray, to learn, to take care of one another, to celebrate the Lord's Supper.  They sold all they had and gave it to the poor among them.    We talked about how the Holy Spirit is life-giving and purifying but it also has power.  The Holy Spirit empowers believers to do really hard things.  If you have said yes to Jesus, then the Holy Spirit has made a home within you. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead LIVES within you.  And God didn't give us that power simply for our own use.  It's for the mission of sharing the love and grace of Jesus Christ with others.    Why do you think we struggle so much with that?  What part of the mission causes you to hide in fear?  Friends, we have POWER within us and it is given to us for the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ.  Let's just let that sit and settle.   Blessings, Pastor Vicki

It's hard to see what the Roman Catholic Church finds so threatening about women leaders when Denise Hackert-Stoner of Albany describes her Upper Room Inclusive Catholic Community. She's been excommunicated from the traditional Church since her ordination and sees little prospect of it dropping its ban on women priests at least in her lifetime despite the massive pedophile priest scandal plaguing the institution. Women priests demand engagement, charity, compassion, beauty and see themselves as renegades.Denise Hackert-Stoner is an ordained priest in the Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests, and an active member of the Upper Room Inclusive Catholic Community in Albany, NY. As a presider in this community she prepares and participates in church celebrations, and sacramental occasions. She is also in direct service ministries along with friends at the Upper Room catering to the poor, immigrants and refugees. As a nature photographer, she can often be found out on a trail with her husband Scott, often on her knees or belly, inspecting some tiny living thing. Amazed at the beauty of nature and the Divine Presence in all of it, she records her thoughts in a weekly Substack in essays called Walking on God. She also uses her own and Scott's images to illustrate music used in liturgies at the Upper Room. Acts 4:13-22  describes the leaders' reaction to Peter and John. Amazed by their boldness—despite being unschooled men—and unable to deny the healing, the authorities command them to stop speaking in Jesus' name. Peter and John refuse, saying they cannot stay silent about what they've seen and heard. The leaders, fearing the people who praise God for the miracle, let them go without punishment. So often status, the "right" training, or a fear of failure keeps us from the work God has called us to. He therefore answered their question by demonstrating that government does have a rightful place in everyones life and that one can be in subjection to government and God at the same time. He asked them to give Him a coin used to pay the tax. A Roman denarius, with its image of Caesar, the Roman emperor, made it obvious they were under Roman authority and taxation. (One coin inscription reads, Tiberius Caesar Augustus, son of the Divine Augustus.) Therefore the taxes must be paid: Give to Caesar what is Caesars. But Jesus also reminded them that a sphere of authority belongs to God: Give to God what is Gods. Individuals are to be subject also to His authority. Man has both political and spiritual responsibilities. Amazed at Jesus answer, both the Pharisees and the Herodians were silenced. Barbieri, L. A., Jr. (1985). Matthew. In J. F. Walvoord R. B. Zuck (Eds.), The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures (Vol. 2, p. 72). Victor Books. Man bears Gods image and owes God his all. Caesars image was on the coin; Gods image is on man (Gen. 1:2627). Sin has marred that image, but through Jesus Christ, it can be restored (Eph. 4:24; Col. 3:10). The relationship between religion and government is personal and individual. It is right for the people of God to serve in government (remember Daniel and Joseph). But it is wrong for government to control the church, or for the church to control government. Wiersbe, W. W. (1996). The Bible exposition commentary (Vol. 1, p. 80). Victor Books. Nothing is known of the Herodians outside of the Gospels. Judging from their name, they were supporters of the Herodian dynasty in its collaboration with the Roman government. This would put them at the opposite end of the political spectrum from the Pharisees. Yet their common hatred of Christ was great enough that the Pharisees and Herodians joined forces against Him. Radmacher, E. D., Allen, R. B., House, H. W. (1999). Nelsons new illustrated Bible commentary (p. 1183). T. Nelson Publishers.

He was a man who saw that true science points to God.Pasteur is often credited with saying:“The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.”Louis PasteurEvery new discovery wasn't a reason to boast in human knowledge—it was a reason to marvel at divine wisdom.Take time today to look at God's creation and see how great God is. Send us a textJohn Harris' excellent book Maybe I'm Amazed has been one of my non-fiction top reads this year. It was a huge pleasure to welcome James Booth to the podcast to discuss it, and share some of our experiences.  We are both GPs, we are both parents of autistic young people and we both found John's book relatable, funny, warm, moving and necessary. If you want to know more about the book, here's what the publisher's say:"In this extraordinary memoir, a father tells the story of how music has opened up the world to his son, one song at a time. Obsessed with music since he was a child, John Harris had no idea that he was in fact preparing himself for the greatest challenge of his life. But so it transpired. When his son James was born, and three years later diagnosed with autism, music became a source of precious connection and endless wonder for both of them.Maybe I'm Amazed describes how the music of The Beatles, Kraftwerk, Funkadelic, The Velvet Underground, Amy Winehouse and many more were soon woven into the fabric of James's life, becoming an essential part of who he is. It takes us through the struggles of raising an autistic child in a prejudiced world, and uncovers a hidden history of neurodivergence and creativity that casts new light on why notes, chords and lyrics speak so powerfully to the human mind.Anyone who has fallen in love with a band or heard their life reflected back to them by a song will recognise themselves in the story of this father and his son. And in considering the intense and transcendent way James absorbs and connects with music, it has lessons in listening and living for us all."

Acts 2:1-24When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren't all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens aboveand signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darknessand the moon to bloodbefore the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who callson the name of the Lord will be saved.'“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God's deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

It is a thrill to welcome Ben “The Bane” Davis as a guest on this special The Challenge edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast!  Ben is an extreme sports broadcaster who provides play-by-play for UFC Fight Pass, DAZN, and Misfits Boxing.  Recently, he made his Reality TV debut on The Challenge 41: Vets vs. New Threats.  Ben began his Challenge journey by joining his fellow New Threats, such as Ayoleka “Leka” Sodade, Cedric Hodges, Dee Valladares, Gabe Wai, Sydney Segal, and Yeremi Hykel, and legendary veterans such as Aneesa Ferreira, Cara Maria Sorbello, CT Tamburello, Derrick Kosinski, Olivia Kaiser, and Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran by climbing a Chilean mountain to get to the house.  For the first few episodes of the season, the New Threats partnered up with veterans, but after each elimination, they had to change partners. He played “Mud Ball Madness” with four-time finalist Nany Gonzalez, “Side by Side” by Challenge All-Stars finalist Nia Moore, and “Water Tower” with two-time champion Cara Maria Sorbello.  However, Ben's most significant moment in the game was when he teamed up with The Challenge USA finalist and iconic Survivor alum Michaela Bradshaw on the “Amazed” daily challenge, and THEY WON! Under their watch, new threat Gabe Wai sent home show icon and seven-time champion Jonathan Potassium…I mean Johnny Bananas.    Sadly, Ben's luck took a turn for the worse when he teamed up with Olivia. The partnership seemed promising on paper, but when they faced the “Dirtballer” daily challenge, they finished near the back of the pack. With her UK alliance, Olivia plotted to sacrifice Ben and become the Hangnail to save her ally, Derek Chavez, who was up for elimination. After two intense vote-offs, host TJ Lavin flipped a coin, and Ben was sent into the Arena, where Chavez eliminated him in a Hall Brawl inspired by the film HIM.   On this special edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Ben “The Bane” Davis spoke about being cast on the long-running MTV reality competition, winning with Michaela, Olivia's betrayal, speaking with Leka on his Do Not Resuscitate Podcast with Riley Osborne, and previewing his first Challenge Mania Live appearance.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.

You'll also discover the significance of Capernaum as the center of much of Jesus' ministry, and how miracle after miracle showed His authority over sickness, sin, and doubt. If you've ever wrestled with trusting God's promises, this message is for you. The sudden stilling of the storm on the Lake of Galilee was one event that particularly astonished them, but in today's 10th chapter of Mark we may have a sense of surprise at the cause behind the statement,  “And his disciples were amazed at his words.”     Jesus had just said, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God” [v.23,24].  His comment was the sequel to a situation when an earnest man ran up to him and said “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” [v.17] Jesus says, “You know the commandments and spells out most of them, and he responds, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth” [v.20] “And Jesus, looking at him, loved him.”But the love of Jesus did not blot out a fatal flaw in the man's character, Jesus said, “You lack one thing.”  The Master who sees and knows all things told him to use his “great possessions” in helping the poor.     “Sell all that you have” he was told – but that was not the end of Christ's words; but the man's thinking had collapsed over that request. The climax was a wonderful invitation, “come follow me… you will have treasure in heaven…” (v,21)  But his mind could not jump the hurdle of his trust in wealth and “he went away sorrowful.”  It was this event which caused Jesus to comment to his disciples about wealth and the great difficulties their possession cause for people who possess them.  It amazed them!.This brings our minds to bear on today's readings in 1 Kings ch. 10 about Solomon's great wealth, that he “excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.” [v.23]      But in the end his riches distracted him “so Solomon did not wholly follow the LORD” [ch. 11 v.6] and the lack of wisdom of his son Rehoboam led to a great loss of them.(ch.12)  Solomon became obsessed by possessions (see what he confesses in Ecclesiastes 1 & 2).And us?  Our world is full of things to distract us, many of us – from Jesus' perspective are ‘wealthy' compared to previous generations.  Jesus says to us, “Come follow me”   If we have said, or decide to say, “Yes Lord” – let us do so – making sure there are no earthly possessions which are distracting us. Those who “follow me”, says Jesus “receive a hundredfold now in this lime … and in the age to come, eternal life.” [v.30].     This was the Apostle Paul's experience, he expresses his position very succinctly, “as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, as poor, yet making many rich, as having nothing, yet possessing everything.” [2 Cor.6 v.10]

The sermon explored the enduring legacy of Charles Hutchinson Gabriel, a largely self-taught musician considered the father of gospel music, highlighting his impact on American Christianity and the creation of beloved hymns like "I Stand Amazed." Examining Gabriel's life and work, the message emphasized the importance of understanding the theological depth behind musical expression, connecting his compositions to broader themes of exile, redemption, and the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, ultimately celebrating the marvelous and wonderful saving grace of Jesus Christ and the joy of expressing devotion through music.

When the Bottom Falls Out in Your Life, Ask God to Get Involved Through Prayer AND Thanks – You will Be Amazed! MESSAGE SUMMARY: Sometimes the bottom falls out in your life, and you wonder where God is in all your stuff. Well, the challenge to you is to “Thank God” by turning your eyes away from all your life's “stuff” and turning your eyes to God and thanking Him! We have no better teacher, of the need to address God with our thanks, than when, in Luke11:2, Jesus responded to His Disciples' request to teach them to pray: “And he said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.'". By taking your situation to God in prayer AND thanks, you will be amazed at what will happen to your situation which, before you asked God through prayer AND thanks, seemed insurmountable. What do you usually do? You worry and fret – you focus on the negative and give the adverse situation so much power, in your life, rather than focusing on God and giving Him thanks. In Mathew 6:34, Jesus tells you not to be anxious about your life situations: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.". Ask God to get involved in your life through prayer and thanks – you will be amazed.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, may your will, not my will, be done in my life. You know how easy it is to call myself a Christian but then become busy, forgetting about your will and desires. Forgive me for this sin. Help me listen to you, and grant me the courage to faithfully surrender to you. In Jesus' name, amen.    Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 25). Zondervan. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): 1 Corinthians 11:25; Colossians 2:2-3; John 10:25-30; Psalms 17:1-15. A WORD FROM THE LORD WEBSITE: www.AWFTL.org. In this episode of the Jewish Inspiration Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues his exploration of generosity, focusing on Day 96 from Orchos Tzaddikim (page 567, Treasure for Life edition). He emphasizes that generosity is a habit, a muscle strengthened through consistent giving, regardless of one's financial means. Citing the Rambam, he explains that giving small amounts frequently, like a dollar a million times, builds this habit more effectively than a single large donation. Rabbi Wolbe shares personal anecdotes, such as a man who always donates to the synagogue's charity box despite limited means, and his own efforts to give eagerly during the Torch campaign, highlighting the importance of giving with joy and humanity, not reluctance or kvetching, to instill a culture of generosity in future generations.Rabbi Wolbe stresses the highest form of charity: giving anonymously, where neither the giver nor the recipient knows the other's identity, as exemplified by organizations like Tomche Shabbos, which discreetly supports families in need. He recounts stories, including one where he fulfilled a friend's request to feed a hungry person in Israel, underscoring the privilege of giving with kindness. Quoting scriptures and sages, he warns against giving with a sour expression or avoiding charity, equating such avoidance to idolatry, as it prioritizes money over God's will. The episode concludes with a call to treat the poor with love, as they may be God testing one's generosity, with rewards proportional to the kindness shown.Recorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on March 10, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on July 8, 2025_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Share your questions at aw@torchweb.org or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content.  _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.  To directly send your questions, comments, and feedback, please email: awolbe@torchweb.org_____________Support Our Mission:Our Mission is Connecting Jews & Judaism.
