Mack Wilberg). The Tabernacle Choir Life can be so unpredictable—joys and sorrows, beautiful blessings and distressing difficulties, can come unexpectedly. Our life's dreams and plans can change in an instant. We all know this to be true. So how can we find peace amid such turbulence? Horatio Spafford knew something about life's unexpected challenges. He was a successful attorney and real estate investor who lost a fortune in the great Chicago fire of 1871. Around the same time, his beloved four-year-old son died of scarlet fever. Thinking a vacation would do his family some good, he sent his wife and four daughters on a ship to England, planning to join them after he finished some pressing business at home. However, while crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the ship was involved in a terrible collision and sunk. More than 200 people lost their lives, including all four of Horatio Spafford's precious daughters. His wife, Anna, survived the tragedy. Upon arriving in England, she sent a telegram to her husband that began: “Saved alone. What shall I do?” Horatio immediately set sail for England. At one point during his voyage, the captain of the ship, aware of the tragedy that had struck the Spafford family, summoned Horatio to tell him that they were now passing over the spot where the shipwreck had occurred. As Horatio thought about his daughters, words of comfort and hope filled his heart and mind. He wrote them down, and they have since become a well-beloved hymn: When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll— Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to know It is well, it is well with my soul. Perhaps we cannot always say that everything is well in all aspects of our lives. There will always be storms to face, and sometimes there will be tragedies. But with faith in a loving God and with trust in His divine help, we can confidently say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.” Watch this video with subtitles at- https://youtu.be/Eg5O2y1UXw4?si=JvgZ32hBe4iqMK3J The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square 891K subscribers 5,209,607 views Aug 2, 2017 For the story behind this song: • It Is Well with My Soul - The Spoken ... Refrain: It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!— My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul. But, Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal; Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord! Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul! And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul Aired June 25, 2017. For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------

If you listen to many Christian preachers, the impression is given that if you can just come up with the right formula in prayer, God will grant you the blessing you want and the health and healing that you need. And while I certainly believe in healing, I do not believe that God's divine healing ought to be the starting point for thinking about a healthy lifestyle. To optimize good health and to live the abundant life that Christ offers, we must practice what we pray for. After Jesus forgave, freed, or healed the woman caught in adultery, He told her to go and not keep doing what she had been doing. The same is true for us if we want to be healthy, if we want to be well. So how do we get well? That's what we're going to dive into today.

Sermon & Communion Meditation: Casey McCormick
Do you find yourself crying out to God because you feel like you've come to the end of your rope? Sometimes circumstances flip our lives upside down, and we don't know where to turn. God is always at work in your life. We may not always understand why our circumstances look as they do, but God knows our future and destination. In this sermon by Pastor David Maestas, he reminds us that we walk by faith, living faithfully in prayer and trusting that God will lead our path. He encourages us to live like David -- to cry out to the Lord in the midst of trouble -- while continuing to say, "It is well with my soul". SUBSCRIBE to Living It Out Podcast for more like this!

Step into the vibrant Choir Room where the rich tapestry of song and spirit comes to life. This week, my co-hosts Dorian Johnson, Mietta Stancil-Farrar, and I, Greg Thomas, as we uncover the poignant history of the hymn "It Is Well With My Soul" and then followed by a live rendition by the enchanting Sarai Negron-Ingold. Mietta brings us the CRQ and we delve into the conversation of recruitment for a community choir. With personal anecdotes, we delve into the transformative power of choir singing and the sense of community it fosters. From the unique perspective of our blind singer, Ed, to the cultural diversity that shapes the spiritual expression within this group, we celebrate the collective voices that resonate through the choir in the walls of Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship in New City, NY.The Choir Room resonates with tales of personal journeys and the shared experiences that draw us to the power of voices united in harmony. We discuss the balance of personal freedom and collective message delivery in worship, and how the evolution of choral direction has shifted from stringent conformity to a liberating platform for individual interpretation. As we explore the multifaceted nature of singing, we tap into the intuitive performance dynamics and the profound impact it has on the mental, physical, and emotional spheres of our lives. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the choir and worship team, whose dedication creates an invigorating space for all who seek solace in song. The story behind the hymns.
“Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine” and “It is Well With My Soul” are just a couple of hymns regarding the assurance we as Christians should have. But if we are honest, we don't always feel that sweet assurance. I think some Christians struggle with assurance more than they want to admit. The book of Hebrews tells us how what Christ did was indeed enough to provide us assurance and provide us peace here on Earth. It is through clinging to Christ that we can truly draw near with boldness to the throne of Grace. Join us on Sunday as we battle our doubt and wavering assurance together and cling fast to our beloved Christ.
