About Love Ministries: Love Ministries About Host, Karla Nivens: After graduating from Texas Tech University, Karla earned her teaching certificate and began her career as an elementary music teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. She also sang for Grammy award-winning Gospel recording artists Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Crystal Lewis, Willie Neal Johnson, John P. Kee, Alvin Slaughter, Tamela Mann, and Michael Buble'. She's traveled the world and ministered to diverse audiences in music. During her travels, she had the opportunity to sing on the Jay Leno Show, Soul Train, the Stellar Awards, and the Billy Graham Crusade with Kirk Franklin. She took a hiatus while staying at home with her children for several years and re-entered the workforce as a worship leader at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Karla has worshipped with Highland Park for the past 17 years. Currently, Karla is building the Racial Justice ministry for Highland Park UMC. Karla has also served as an adjunct instructor for Visible Music College and in 2014 released a CD entitled “True Worship.” Five years ago a good friend suggested she turn her heart toward fulfilling the Great Commission. Karla began traveling on yearly mission trips to Costa Rica and Africa. On those trips the Lord began to awaken the motto He gave her in college – “Influencing Culture for the Good of the Kingdom.” As an answer to this awakening, Karla and Dr. Roosevelt founded Karla Nivens Entertainment. Under this umbrella, Karla partnered with Love Ministries, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, started a small group for women, and a radio show both titled “Every Heart Every Woman.” Karla encourages her audience to quiet the noise and restore balance in their daily lives through inspirational entertainment. The show airs Sundays as a podcast on iTunes and Podbean weekly. The show also airs in video on YouTube. In 2019, Karla released her book, True Leaders with Heart, packed with weekly meditations for leaders.
“The Priest is a gift from the Heart of Christ” said Pope Benedict XVI in June 2010, quoting St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars (France). There is no Eucharist without the Priesthood. The priest is chosen from among the people to serve the people in the things that refer to God. Only the priest can consecrate the Body and Blood of Christ, and only the priest can absolve sins in sacramental Confession. Today I talk about the priesthood, and why it is such a gift from Jesus to the Church and to all humanity. - Find more about the topics discussed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1536-1551. - Fr. Gwen was brought up as a strict evangelical Christian. She was taught that women needed to control the way they dressed and acted to control the behaviour of men. When she was sexually abused, she believed it was her fault. But when she first stepped into a nudist community, she felt free. She was naked, with other naked people, and her nakedness was not making other people molest her. She learnt that her body was not something she had to hide. The BBC's Josie Le Vay visits Gwen at her home in a nudist community in Florida, USA, as she reconciles with the harm purity culture has caused herself, and those she taught it to. We meet Gwen's neighbour, Michael, a retired chaplain and pastor, who runs nude bible reading sessions from his home and attends the nearby Garden of Eden church, which celebrates the ‘joy and innocence of Christian naturism'. And we hear how those who practise many of the evangelical teachings Gwen grew up with respond to her new nudist lifestyle; and her Christian friends who believe the Bible justifies their way of life. Welcome to the seventh and final segment of Psalm 119 on Build Your Bible Habit. As you may already know, Psalm 119 has 176 verses divided into 22 sections called stanzas. The last four stanzas sound like prayers of a troubled heart, mingled with hope and praise. This is also the end of the chapter. Now that you've finished the largest chapter of the Bible, you can go back to the beginning and replay these segments. If you've never tried listening to the Bible before bedtime, these segments would be a great place to start. Soon, you'll find that God's Word has embedded itself into your soul, providing guidance and peace. Here's a familiar closing verse about great peace from Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." Ep. 71 (Part 2 of 3) | Nicholas Hedlund & Sean Esbjörn-Hargens are big picture philosophers with extraordinary big hearts as well as big minds, dedicated to understanding how consciousness, culture, and nature relate to each other, and to forging a path for the Earth and civilization to flourish rather than fall apart. In this dialogue, the world of metatheories comes alive with urgent, purposeful meaning, because as Sean and Nick point out, integrative metatheories like Ken Wilber's integral theory and Roy Bhaskar's critical realism are the only tools that provide a useful framework for us to talk about and confront the vast web of interrelated and wicked problems we face on every level at this time. Now, we are only just beginning to understand the nature of the metacrisis—how the external crises are driven by interior crises of sensemaking and meaning making—but how do we bring everyone to the table to find solutions? How do we get the wisdom of these approaches to bear upon the crises we face? It turns out that heart connection—love, caring, and being willing to listen and to change—is a crucial, key ingredient for us to move forward in a positive way. Nick and Sean express both heartbreak and wild enthusiasm—heartbreak that our entire planetary community is so threatened and we have only a small window of time (till 2030) to transform our consciousness and culture into taking a cooperative and reverent approach to life, and enthusiasm to be alive at this pivotal time where everything hangs in the balance. Recorded December 7, 2022.“We really need both—we need big Heart to connect and be friends with each other and love each other and we need that in equal measure to big Mind.”(For Apple Podcast users, click here to view the complete show notes on the episode page.)Topics & Time Stamps – Part 2The difference between dialogue and debate: being willing to have one's mind changed and opening up the opportunity for real dialogue (01:23)The critical reality principle/truth that we all share one world (03:07)The call to evolve together and mature spiritually (05:14)Reasons to be optimistic and reasons to be concerned about what lies ahead: the metacrisis will be a developmental catalyst for some but not all (07:33)The integral ecology mantra: things are getting better, things are also getting worse, and the eternal nature of perfection (09:33) How can we speak to the fears of the people? However, cultivating self-compassion is essential to living a fulfilling and healthy life. In the second part of the episode, we'll be engaging in a guided meditation to help you cultivate self-compassion. This meditation will encourage you to explore your own emotions and feelings in a non-judgmental and accepting way. Catherine Glynn is artistic director of Audacious Raw Theater in Lanesboro. She was able to see a preview of the play that opens Commonweal Theatre's 35th season: “Bernhardt/Hamlet” by Theresa Rebeck. Glynn calls the play “a love letter to the theater and the art of collaboration.” The play is a work of historical fiction about actress Sarah Bernhardt, who was wildly celebrated in her time. Set in Paris in 1899, when Bernhardt's theater has become riddled by debt. In order to save it, she decides to play the lead role in “Hamlet.” All of Paris is up-in-arms over whether she can pull off a “pants role.” Bernhardt herself is daunted by Shakespeare's language. Glynn notes that this a perfect show to cap off Women's History Month, having been written, directed, costumed and sound-designed by women. Glynn says that the role of the famous actress is beautifully played by Commonweal company member Adrienne Sweeney, who herself is no stranger to playing roles originally written for men. Sweeney played Ebeneezer Scrooge in the theater's staging of “A Christmas Carol” in 2021. After final preview performances tonight and Friday, the show opens April 1 and runs through June 24. George Roberts, artistic director of Homewood Studios, recently attended the opening of a gallery exhibit at the new, nearby Northside Artspace Lofts. The building was designed as an affordable space for artists to live and work, complete with dance space and gallery. Roberts said he appreciated the variety of works in that gallery show, which is titled “Works in Progress.” The exhibit “speaks about supporting young and new artists to have a space to show their work. And it speaks about a place where more accomplished mid-career artists have a place to act as mentors,” says Roberts, adding that beginning works that “show promise” were happily positioned next to accomplished, finished works. The exhibit “Works in Progress” is on view through May 7. Roberts notes that, since the building is also residential, the doors are locked. But if you ring the doorbell to enter, the gallery is accessible and easy to find. Educator and art lover Kris Prince of Minneapolis plans to be at the Sundin Music Hall Friday evening to hear the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet perform in St. Paul. Prince calls the quartet “wonderful, entertaining” performers, and she loves the range of styles and sounds the four produce with their guitars. Their upcoming series of performances includes music from Spain, Finland and Macedonia; new arrangements of music by Bob Dylan, Nick Drake and Japanese jazz composer Hiromi Uehara. They will also perform a new, commissioned work by Twin Cities composer A.J. Isaacson-Zvidzwa. In addition to Friday evening's concert, founder Joseph Hagedorn, Maja Radovanlija, Ben Kunkel and Milena Petković will kick off a series of performances this spring. The Minneapolis Guitar Quartet will perform Sunday, April 2, at the Walker Community UMC; Thursday, April 13 at the White Bear Center for the Arts; and Saturday, April 29 at the Heart of the City Music Factory in Anoka.

Dhamma talk by Ajahn Mudito on the 4 July 2022, at the Buddhist Society of Victoria (BSV). Bhante Mudito was born in a remote village in Northern-Finland. After completing military service, he travelled to the United States where he attended chef school and worked in a high-end hotel for a few years. While living in New York his long-time interest in Buddhism evolved as he started meditating with different groups. He sought after many teachers and found many of them to be too lofty or simply too boring. But then the stars aligned when Ajahn Brahm wrote his hit book Open the Door of your Heart and on the book promotion tour he came to New York where Mudito fell in love with Ajahn and his simple teachings. He has followed Ajahn Brahm ever since and in 2010 he went to stay in Bodhinyana and ordained as a monk in 2012. Seventeen months passed with no answers for the cause of her death, until Adam was suddenly arrested and charged with second-degree murder. At first, medical experts pointed to physical evidence of strangulation, while Adam's defense attorneys speculated about an allergic reaction to a spray tan. Yet unbeknownst to either side, the truth was hidden much deeper than they could see initially. 48 Hours correspondent Erin Moriarty takes you inside the investigation of Adam Kaufman on her podcast, My Life of Crime. Based on the 48 Hours investigation, “Lina's Heart”.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this moment of radical transformation, shifting the societal pronoun from “me, me, me” to “we” may be the single most transformational pivot we can make in order for anything else to work. Our destiny is ultimately collective. How can we overcome corrosive divisions and separations that are tearing us apart and create a world where everyone belongs? In this program, we dip into a deep conversation on this topic between Angela Glover Blackwell and john a. powell, two long-time friends and leaders in a quest toward building a multicultural democracy. Relationships have moments, don't they? We shouldn't be surprised by that because humans are included, but there are things we could do to prepare ourselves to have better responses and fewer overreactions. Not perfect, but better. Imperfect people can't have perfect relationships, but God left us with the wisdom of scripture to help us do a better job, if we'll employ this wisdom. This episode shares three verses that are great for our interactions with each other. When we have better relationship habits, we'll have better relationships. Emotional Expedition: A Journey of Healing with Meghan Thomas
Regret is often seen as a negative emotion, something we should avoid at all costs. We are told to live life without regrets and to focus only on the positive aspects of our lives. However, this approach overlooks the valuable lessons that regret has to teach us. Regret can be a powerful emotion, ranging from mild discomfort to deep hurt. It arises when an outcome was not what we wanted or expected, and we believe that our decisions or actions caused the outcome. Research shows that we tend to regret the actions we didn't take, the missed opportunities, more than the actions we did take that resulted in bad outcomes. According to Brené Brown, regret is one of our most powerful emotional reminders that reflection, change, and growth are necessary. In her research, regret emerged as a function of empathy. When used constructively, regret can be a call to courage and a path towards wisdom. So, what can regret teach us? It can teach us to have the courage to be kinder, to show up, to set boundaries, to be good to ourselves, and to say yes to something scary. Regret can also teach us to take chances, to be more thoughtful, and to be conscious in conversations. In a podcast conversation between Brené Brown and author of the book, The Power of Regret, Daniel H. Pink identified four core regrets: foundation regrets, boldness regrets, moral regrets, and connection regrets. And of course as always I share my own personal experiences with regret. For the past few years, I've been hearing about this concept called “declarative language,” and although I had an idea of what it was, after reading my guest Linda Murphy's Declarative Language Handbook, I couldn't wait to bring her on the show because it offers another transformational tool for our parenting differently wired kids' toolbox. Linda describes declarative language as a positive, thoughtful communication style that emphasizes understanding, patience, respect, and kindness, and as you'll hear from our conversation, it is an ideal communication style for really all children, but especially neurodivergent children and kids whose nervous systems are triggered by demands or more imperative communication styles. We discussed the different ways we can communicate with our children, the language we use, and the effects that simple shifts in the way we have conversations can have in our daily interactions with them. We also explored what is declarative language versus imperative language, as well as the relationship between co-regulation and declarative language and why we should use them in tandem. About Linda MurphyLinda K. Murphy MS, CCC-SLP is a speech language pathologist and RDI® Consultant. She co-founded Peer Projects - Therapy From the Heart, a clinic in Beverly, MA dedicated to helping kids and families by using a positive, thoughtful communication style that emphasizes understanding, patience, respect, and kindness. Linda has been working with individuals with social learning differences for over 25 years. She leads trainings on the topic of social learning, has authored Declarative Language Handbook, Co-Regulation Handbook, numerous articles, and co-authored the book Social Thinking and Me with Michelle Garcia Winner. Things you'll learn from this episodeWhat it means to use declarative language (versus imperative language)Why declarative language is so effective for neurodivergent children, and especially those who are wired to be more demand avoidanceWhy declarative language is more effective when paired with co-regulationCommon language and communication styles that place demands on kids that we may not be aware of (including questions)How to introduce declarative language communication and how it can support a child's learning and developmentWhat we can hope to see in a child or an adolescent that has been on the receiving end of this style of communicationWhat to say instead of “Did you hear what I said”? Women are the power users and the power brokers of healthcare. And as the de facto “Chief Medical Officers” of their families — making healthcare decisions for their partners, children, and parents — women control an estimated 80% of all U.S. healthcare dollars.Yet our healthcare system is failing women. The majority report experiencing gender discrimination from their providers, and feel that their concerns are taken less seriously because they're women. It's no surprise, then, that the healthcare system has a “loyalty crisis” with its most powerful customer, with over half of women reporting not trusting the U.S. healthcare system. In this episode, Tia Co-founder & CEO Carolyn Witte talks about trailblazing a new paradigm for women's healthcare that treats women as whole people vs. parts or life stages.Follow guest Carolyn Witte on Twitter.Follow host Halle Tecco on Twitter.Visit the Heart of Healthcare website for episode recaps and more!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What Does the Bible Say About Leadership? How Psalm 101 Reveals Characteristics of the Heart of a Leader While the Bible is full of leadership, some good and some, well, not-so-good, today we look at the qualifications of a good leader. Psalm 101 provides for us a list of what to look for in a leader and what to embody as a leader. I pray this episode blesses you! Thoughts to Journal: Did you realize that the Bible held a list of principles for leadership? Which of the principles resonated the most with you? Do you feel convicted by any of them? How will you respond? Today's Key Verse: I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise. Psalm 101:1 Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast. Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer. Need to chat one on one? Wouldn't it be nice if you could do the Will of God always? If you could simply make the choice to perfectly say “Yes” to God in all things and in every situation? The truth is that you can. The only thing hindering you from this absolute choice is your own stubborn will (See Diary #374). It's hard to admit that we are stubborn and full of self-will. It's hard to let go of our own will and to choose, instead, the Will of God in all things. Hard though it may be, we must make this our firm resolve. And when we fail, we must resolve again. Never tire of trying again and again. Your unfailing effort brings joy to the Heart of our Lord.Lord, I do desire to embrace Your Divine Will in all things. Help me to be free of my own selfish will and to choose only You in all things. I abandon myself into Your hands. When I fall, help me to get back up rather than to give into discouragement.
