Embracing spiritual & shamanic concepts to illuminate deep meanings and powerful messages through the cards. On this Divine Feminine solo episode I pull 2 cards from the Spiritsong tarot to offer some insight into the specific tarot cards in general and read into the message and guidance wanting to come through from these particular cards with accompanying spirit animal. Libra is the bringer of the fall equinox and denotes serenity, beauty, and balance. Associated with the mentally and emotionally wrought Tarot cards 2-4 of Swords and its Queen, we are reminded to cultivate inner sanctuary through life's difficulties. To feel at home in the world, and to know that the land and the sky nurture and guard us, that we are held and protected. Perhaps we need to stand still for a moment to allow ourselves to feel the gift of peace that is ours. -Julia Jeffrey*Episode Art: The 2 of Swords from The Fountain Tarot superimposed over Esmerlize's 4 of Swords*Correction: Eliza here. Jeremy Dutcher, the classically trained Two-Spirit song carrier, composer, activist, and member of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) in Eastern Canada burst upon the music scene in Canada in 2018, winning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for his debut LP, which saw him performing with archival recordings of his Wolastoq ancestors. His latest, just released on October 6, is called Motewolonuwok (People of great spiritual power), and it continues Dutcher's exploration of his First Nations roots: celebrating the culture, addressing the endangered language and land rights, and correcting the record. It's time to dig deep again! We begin this week by discussing what's been on our hearts, such as discerning His call upon our lives and the importance of forgiveness. Following that and our featured song for the week ("Spirit Song" by Marty Ray Project), we dig into the famous 23rd Psalm. What does it mean to be a sheep in the care of our Good Shepherd? Thanks for listening! We pray this is a blessing to you. God knows our sufferings. He knows our failures. And he wants to rescue us from these things, to heal us from our sins and transform our minds to know that we part of his plan regardless of where we fall short. What we need to do is reorient ourselves to let Jesus take over, abandoning everything else in favor of God's will. Thus, when failures come our way, we will not be shaken - for our hope is in God alone. Spend a few moments each day this week praying to God and abandoning yourself to his will, allowing him to be your king, the Lord over your life. Here is St. Charles de Foucauld's Prayer of Abandonment to get you started: Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart; For I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself; To surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence. For you are my Father. -St. Charles de Foucauld "Prayer of Abandonment". Text: Based on a prayer by Blessed Charles de Foucauld, 1858–1916. Text and music © 1998, Tom Booth. Greg Walton is a dynamic Christian musician and speaker with a mission to foster the love of Christ through prayer, word, song and, above all, belonging. Greg's mission, which began with participation in his vibrant church choir and soon grew into writing contemporary Christian music at age 15, has provided many unique opportunities to share his message of love. He earned his bachelor's in music education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and went on to teach and direct music in the Chicago area. During that time, Greg performed his music locally until he caught the interest of Nashville industry professionals. After landing an artist development deal, he moved his young family to Tennessee; from the late 90s to early 2000s, he toured full-time as keyboard player for the Dove Award-nominated band, Polarboy. One of the hardest working Christian bands at the time, Polarboy performed 150+ events a year including Creation Festival, Kingdom Bound and Cornerstone with headliners like Amy Grant, DC Talk and Newsboys. As a token Catholic performing in mainstream Christian music, Greg found himself playing everywhere but the Catholic Church. He left Polarboy to focus on accompanying young Catholics. In 2005, he began composing contemporary liturgical music for OCP's Spirit & Song division beginning with his songs "King of My Heart" and "We Are His People," while leading retreats and programs for the young church. This work has taken him all over North America, Europe, Africa and includes two World Youth Days. Greg's independent modern/rock alternative projects have received a total of 10 Unity Awards from the United Catholic Music and Video Association. Greg's motto, “go where love leads,” is especially evident in his 2020 OCP release, “Eyes on the Cross.” He resides in Spring Hill, TN with his wife and college sweetheart, Mary, where they do their best to keep up with their kiddos. In addition to composing, Greg serves as the Electronic Evangelization Coordinator at St. Philip Catholic Church, Franklin and leads worship at Church of the Nativity, Thompson Station. Toronto is Broken on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 12/27/21 About Toronto is Broken - Toronto is Broken a.k.a. Christian Hoffmann's initial venture into the world of music started out with a guitar whilst at school, and after various attempts attract bands with his passion, he went on a solo mission to produce electronic music after buying Enter Shikari's first album “Take to the Skies”. Several years of work and perseverance later, Christian went on to be picked up by the UK bass label Sub Slayers, ran by former Kiss FM and RAM Records resident Jay Cunning. His first release “The Move It EP” received high praise throughout the scene which featured “Spirit Song 2012”, played by everyone from Paul Oakenfold to Sub Focus. “Spirit Song 2012” was also used as the main piece in the Arcadia Spectacular show at festivals all over the world. After several EP's, remixes and singles on Sub Slayers, Christian went onto release his debut album, “Section Nine” that featured the tracks “A Place in Time, LV-426, Die for You and Field Of Poppies”. It was a concept record that tells the story of a civilisation that falls apart due to their dependence on technology and social networks. This opened many doors for him that led to releases on the prestigious Viper Recordings and Technique Recordings, as well as a wealth of DJ's who continue to supporting his work in clubs and radio globaly, especially his recent string of “post-Section Nine” singles “Original, Voyager II, No Gyal Tune & The Antidote”. “We're trying to transcend our instruments. I think all musicians in general are trying to get to that point. When you get to a great way of expression you don't really think about the medium, the instrument, anymore. You're just in full expression and connection with the music.” Vibraphonist Simon Moullier brings full expression to his latest album, Countdown. It's his second album, featuring drummer JK Kim and bassist Luca Allemanno. While his first album Spirit Song is mostly originals, Countdown explores jazz standards arranged so creatively, they almost sound like originals. In this episode, we break down the amount of work it takes to bring a great arrangement to your band, how Simon Moullier finds new ideas for songs, and how Berklee's community outreach program changed the way he sees music.

Spirit, Song and Sin City with David Villella The arts have been absolutely decimated by COVID-19, or since “Ms. Corona came to the party”, as Broadway alum David Villella says. David’s long-tenured stint at Vegas! The Show was abruptly paused due to the pandemic with no return date in sight, which is the devastating case for so many artists, technicians and staff whose livelihood is dependent on an industry that relies on people gathering. In this episode we learn how gratitude is what is keeping David going through these deeply uncertain times, how art is a creative collaboration with spirit and a way to channel the divine through performance, how visioning himself on a Broadway stage with Bernadette Peters came to be, and how the temptations of Sin City became the catalyst to stepping fully into his spiritual life. Bio: David Villella is from Trenton, New Jersey and graduated from Ithaca College where he studied musical theater. He performed on Broadway in the original cast of the Tony Award winning revival of Annie Get Your Gun starring Bernadette Peters and later, Reba McEntire. Villella spent a year in Hamburg, Germany and toured the United States for another year as “Rum Tum Tugger” in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. He has performed at a variety of other venues ranging from theme parks like Busch Gardens to Carousel Dinner Theatre and cruise ships such as Royal Caribbean’s Nordic Empress and Legend of the Seas. In this episode, you'll hear a recording of a message I gave on March 4, 2020, at ONE's Awake women's gathering. As I prepped for this talk God promised me that each listener would experience a personal and intimate moment with Him. That's what I'm praying still for all who listen to this episode. He desires you. You are His delight and I pray that my story reminds you of that truth and invites you into an experience of it. Responses To This Message: "Such an impactful message by Gabrielle today and I loved when she had us ask Jesus what song He was singing over us. We can never get enough of being caught up in His melodies for us"- An Awake Attendee"Going to Awake has helped me understand that God’s love has always been there even when our eyes and hearts were not awake to see, feel, and hear Him. Gabrielle's message reminded me that His melody has always been in my heart and that I can trust and allow it to be fully received. I'm ready to receive Him in full and so is my heart. Bring on the melodies of love." - An Awake Attendee Scriptures Mentioned: Song of Songs 2:8-10 TPTListen! I hear my lover’s voice. I know it’s him coming to me— leaping with joy over mountains, skipping in love over the hills that separate us, to come to me.Let me describe him: he is graceful as a gazelle, swift as a wild stag. Now he comes closer, even to the places where I hide. He gazes into my soul, peering through the portal as he blossoms within my heart. The one I love calls to me: Arise, my dearest. Hurry, my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one.Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIVWe can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit Song of Songs 2:14 TPT"Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice"Genesis 16:13 NKJV Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are- the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”John 17:13 TPT “But now I am returning to you so Father, I pray that they will experience and enter into my joyous delight in you so that it is fulfilled in them and overflows."Songs Mentioned: "The More I Seek You" by Kari Jobe New episodes every Tuesday! Thanks for subscribing and leaving a review! Hello Earthlings! How are you managing? We are doing well at the Wigglian Compound. We've been busy creating. Yesterday, Mojo and I recorded the last little bit for Mojo's epic interview with Kellianna. Mojo and Kellianna chat about music and book writing. This interview was recorded in the "before times" so some things said within the interview may not apply. Kellianna, I sure hope we see you soon. As our interview this episode is with Kellianna it only makes sense that our Feature Album is Traditions by Kellianna. I believe it is the only one we hadn't featured. From Traditions we hear She Moved Through the Fair, Ave Maria, and Scarborough Faire. How advantageous that we could all use a fair and a prayer to any and all the Gods (and their Mamas). Scarborough Faire is a duet with another of our magical and musical friends, Jenna Greene. Recently, the magical musical community lost one of their own, Shawna Carol. As a tribute we play her song, Spiritsong. Hail and Farewell, Shawna! What is remembered, lives. Finally, we punctuate this episode with Jana Runnalls soothing chant, Deep Into the Earth, from Sacred Home. The Wigglian Way is thankful for our carers and wish you all the best. You are added to our prayers. Blessed Be.
The message was delivered on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry, at the Humanist Service. DESCRIPTION There is a positive death movement happening. It involves talking openly about our bodies: how we age, get sick, and die. It includes practices like: death doulas, death dinners, death care guides and more. For so long, our culture has kept death hidden from us. Here at All Souls, we face death openly, as a way to honor our lives. We have a hospice choir and honor our dead in moving memorial services that celebrate life. I hope you’ll join me, SpiritSong, our Life Decisions Team and Nicole Ogundare, our Life Events Coordinator, as we explore who has the authority to make decisions about our lives – and our deaths. The Charge to the Congregation was delivered on the occasion of the Installation of Rev. Barbara Prose as Associate Minister on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister. DESCRIPTION All Souls Unitarian Church called its first minister, Rev. Dr. James Kennedy, after the charter for ‘All Souls Liberal Church’ was signed on March 28, 1921. It was thought at the time that the word Liberal would be more widely accepted than Unitarian. Ninety-eight years later, the historic and largest Unitarian church, will officially install The Reverend Barbara Prose as minister of the current congregation. Everyone is invited to celebrate 98 years of liberal ministers in Tulsa, including Alfred von Stilli, Robert Sonen, John B. Wolf, and others on Heritage Sunday in one special service for all at 10:30 a.m. CST. If you can’t join us in person, please join us via live stream at allsoulschurch.org/live. Rev. Barbara Prose was hired by All Souls Senior Minister Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar in 2011. In 2014, she became the Executive Director of Ministry. Her leadership has included the development of 24/7 pastoral care for members, SpiritSong hospice choir, numerous justice initiatives including New Sanctuary Network Tulsa, and the continued development of the organization. All of our choirs will share their gifts of song during the service. Rev. Cathey Edwards, Senior Minister of Hope Unitarian Church, and Rabbi Marc Fitzerman, B’nai Emunah Synogogue, will join Rev. Lavanhar and Rev. Gerald Davis during the service and installation of Rev. Barbara Prose. 2-time GRAMMY Award winner and 4-time GRAMMY Nominee, saxophonist and composer Ernie Watts joins the show for the first time! He has been playing the saxophone for more than fifty years and from age 16 on he has been playing professionally, initially while still attending school. He won a Downbeat Scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. While studying at Berklee, Watts was recommended by trombonist Phil Wilson (a Berklee professor) to replace Gene Quill in Buddy Rich's Big Band, and left Berklee. Watts stayed with Rich from 1966-1968 and toured the world, also recording two albums with the band-Big Swing Face and The New One. Next, Watts moved to Los Angeles and began working in the big bands of Gerald Wilson and Oliver Nelson. With the Nelson band, Watts visited Africa on a U.S. State Department tour in 1969. In addition, Watts had the occasion to record with the legendary Thelonious Monk on the album “Monk's Blues” (Columbia). During the 1970s and '80s, Watts was immersed in the busy production scene of Los Angeles. His signature sound was heard on countless TV shows and movie scores, almost all the early West Coast Motown sessions, and with pop stars such as Aretha Franklin and Steely Dan. Watts has been featured on over 500 recordings by artists ranging from Cannonball Adderley to Frank Zappa. In 1982 Watts won the Grammy for best Best Pop Instrumental Performance for the “Chariots of Fire Theme (Dance Version)” In 1983, Watts performed with Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra and also toured with Pat Metheny's Special Quartet. In 1985, Watts won the Grammy Best R&B Instrumental Performance (Orchestra, Group Or Soloist) for Musician. Watts' charter membership in Haden's critically-acclaimed Quartet West, continued for almost 30 years until Haden's death. He has recorded 15 albums as a leader, for a variety of labels large and small, and in 2004, Watts started Flying Dolphin Records, releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums such as Alive, Spirit Song, Analog Man, To the Point, Four plus Four, Oasis and 2016's Wheel of Time. We talk about how he got his start playing music and how he developed, working with Buddy Rich, Thelonious Monk, his extensive studio work in the 70s and 80s, his GRAMMY Award winning recordings, his improvisational style as a solo artist, his solo discography and much, much more!
This week, we're keeping things simple, streamlined, for our women's liberation music hour. Simple and streamlined, yet elegant and deep. Featuring talented composer Mary Watkins and readings from the classic novel, The Wanderground, by Sally Miller Gearheart, we will take a journey with sound and story guided by these two sisters of the revolution. Here is an introduction to these two women of power: Ms. Watkins is the recipient of several granting foundations such as Meet the Composer, National Endowment for the Arts, Gerbodi Foundation, Zellerbach Family Fund and Calfornia Council for the Arts. She is an eclectic composer. She is also a pianist, arranger, recording artist and record producer. Much of her music reflects a love for many styles of music whether jazz, gospel, Latin, country, rock, classical or pop. She has composed for solo piano for both adults and children, wind ensembles, string quartet, chamber and full symphony orchestra. She has also composed for theater, dance and film, songs for solo vocalists, vocal ensembles and large choruses. In 2015 she was commissioned by Women in Music to write a 22 minute symphonic work for the National Women's Music Festival which was premeired in July, 2016 in Middleton Wisconsin. She has completed three operas, Queen Clara, with Lance Belville as librettist, and her second opera, Dark River, in which she composed both music and libretto, commissioned by and premiered at the Oakland Opera Theater and later premiered on the east coast at Mt. Holyoke College. The production of her latest opera, Emmett Till, created with Clara Coss as librettist, is currently in the planning stages with The Harlem Lyric Opera Theatre Company for the 2018-2019 performance season. Play List: All music from Mary Watkins' album, SpiritSong: 1. Comin' Home 2. Mirrors 3. Playground 4.Manhattan Mist 5. Spirit Song 6. Moonlight Chapel 7. Changing Seasons While continuing her work as a composer, Mary Watkins continues to perform both solo piano and as part of her ensemble group. She conducts improvisation workshops, and teaches piano and music theory privately in Oakland, CA. She will be performing on the 45th anniversary tour with Olivia Cruises in early April! Sally Miller Gearhart is an American teacher, feminist, science fiction writer, and political activist. In 1973 she became the first open lesbian to obtain a tenure-track faculty position when she was hired by San Francisco State University, where she helped establish one of the first women and gender study programs in the country. She later became a nationally known gay rights activist. Enjoy these two treasures, combined into one hour! Blessed be. Phoenixx
This week, I call on music that invokes Spirit in me, and hopefully in you. For me, there can be no Revolution without some ground in one's soul or connection to a notion of Mystery/Spirit/Divinity. That looks different, of course, to all of us, but for the purposes of THIS fight for Women's Liberation, that Mystery, that Divine, that Spirit is Female. SheWho, as Judy Grahn named. Hope you enjoy my selections! Please let me know of songs that inspire Spirit in you; I'm always collecting new music to share: Feministwomyn11@gmail.com. I also welcome your suggestions, feedback and general encouragement to keep my own fires burning. Blessed be!
