Anita Solt joins us to discuss and debate the current state of our country, the Mueller investigation, the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, and what it all means for women.

Progressive activists and community leaders Lola Flores and Tyler Buntain share their stories of how they became activists, why they’re committed to social action and why they started “Oly Embrace” and what it’s grown into. Lola grew up in Mexico, Tyler in the States. He spent 10 years in the military and then pursued a college education. After getting a graduate degree in the US, and meeting Tyler and starting a family, Lola decided she wanted to stay stateside and fight for what she loves best about the U.S.: Freedom, opportunity, a government that up until now, was promised to be for everyone.

Oncology veterinarian Lisa Parshley shares her story of going from fed up with the 2016 election, to deciding to run for office. She encounters discrimination, cheating, power plays and bad-mouthing from her male opponent. Yet, she prevails. Hear her story and her interesting thoughts on what it takes to run, why it's important and how she's helping other women become engaged in the political process.

"Do your jobs, dammit! Do your jobs!" was the Jane Doe battle hymn of 2017. What happened to diplomacy, eloquence, decisiveness, and compassion –in leadership? We ponder shithole countries -- the shot heard around the world -- and the blatant (repeated) racism. Asking whether he’s a racist is not the right question. And, a bright spot: Washington Post reports that Washington State may help us save our democracy due to its forward-thinking voting laws and changes in campaign financing.

This week, we talk with Canadian business owner Joanna Wiebe -- the founder of Airstory and Copy Hackers -- about the view from up north. Joanna shares her insight on how Trump followed the “conversion copy” playbook exactly and why it was effective. Why Jane Doe Radio? Why now? Jane Doe Radio is our response to the daily onslaught of misinformation, abased standards and norms and the lying, cheating buffoon who supposedly represents us. We believe in fighting back with small, everyday, meaningful actions and it’s our goal to be a respite from the burnout. A place where you can get some news, some humor, and feel empowered instead of alienated, engaged instead of disenfranchised. In this first episode we talk about our backgrounds as activists, our Jane Doe mission, the attack on women, immigrants, and people of color, as well as some highlights from one of our favorite topics: The Mueller Investigation.
