Listen to us ramble about daily life
Fresh off the honeymoon in Antigua and it has taken too long to get this episode up BUT with a new season comes a new experience. We have soooooo much going on and even more to come. What a wife...I mean life.
We closed out our trip in Charleston, SC. Very surprising city and we love some of the beach locations, but this location isn't for us. WHY? Because I couldn't find a good place to find ribs or Chinese Food. SMH. Sesame Chicken is so easy to make, come on! Now we are on our way to MA to get going on the honeymoon. What a year!
Charleston was cozy and it was fun having Momma Roche there for a while. BUT GOSH DARN, if that place isn't segregated. WHOA, man. On a good note the food was good but nothing like Richmond. Is it ok if I shout out Richmond?
As we continue to travel from place to place, people think we are treating this as a vacation. We work 6-7 days a week but we do take advantage of the views. blah blah and all that other adult seriousness talk... GULFPORT IS DDDOOOPPPEEEE! We highly recommend it! Well, she does. For me, I mean I'd say it's ok and stuff. The All Caps part is Lis, my wife gets excited about stuff (smh). To be youthful right...I'm more mature.
What an adventure so far. I feel like Eliza Thornberry...minus the talking to animals, and outdoors life, and family of adventures and a pet ....you get what I mean. We are on the move. The Bull City experience has started off rough but there's nowhere to go but up from here. Oh and we have to make some changes to the intro... What a year!
WE ARE LOVING RICHMOND! I mean... Lis is. It's ok I guess. (acts nonchalant). Food is cheap, people are cool, great weather, plenty of walking areas, and the food is cheap. But again... it's ok here. I mean it could be better. :) Not like I'm really enjoying this place or anything. RRIIICCCHHHMMOOONNNDDDD, VA
WHOA! What a wild couple of days as we were getting ready to leave MA. High winds, 5 inches (5 feet to me) of snow, and then heavy rains. It was the right time to leave in MA. But after the yellow brick road, we have landed in Richmond VA. Lis picked an OKAY AirBNB, I guess. But here we are, and the journey has begun.
The wild homeless journey begins. The wild part is Lis is leading the way... I thought I was the reckless one. But Ted Lasso is on coming back on from commercial so GOT TO GOOOOOO. Oh Disney + is clutch for having all the Recess, and Phen and Ferb episodes on it.
Look at me... LOOK AT ME... I'm the baker now! The brownies were unbelievable! Ask Lis because she has been devouring them. Outside of that, all is smooth. Still trying to get adjusted to this new role but happy wife happy life, right? (straight face)
I don't have much to say. I'm still exhausted but I'm telling you... Lis is a piece of work. That's all I'm going to say about that! MHM!
Lis made me do it! I didn't even want to complain about it but she wrote out the script and told me READ IT! (shrugs)
I mean look, I didn't mean to smac....HHEEEYYYY!!! I didn't see you there. So we are on our way to MV...you know Martha's Vineyard, and we figured let's stick to the tradition. We've only done it once before but HEY why not keep it going. Wedding plans are forever changing and our growth has been continuous. I think I'm getting taller too. I'm 6'1, I think?
Don't have too much to say because Black is King is about to start so gotta GGGGOOOOOOOOO..... Just listen and tell us what you think. BYE!
Let me finish PLEASE!... Jeez! As I was saying, the wedding might be going away....FROM.... the West Chop because of all the new guidelines. Wedding/Event venues are going by different regulations from restaurants. So OF COURSE we want to move everything to a restaurant. Don't tell Lis but I wanted to get married at Yummy Yummy in Fort Washington MD. But no one cares about my dreams. (Stupid matriarchy wedding system)
OFC we went back to the Vineyard. Her Aunt and Uncle were in town so we wanted to make sure they were safe. So we ended up there for 6 days and had a blast. So it's been decided by committee (yes I cloned myself) that we will live part-time in San Diego, Part somewhere she wants to live and then part-time in MV. X-Game Mode!
We were supposed to interview my parents, Shout out to Chrylle and Willie! BUUUTTTT see what had happened was... Lis got WASTED and can't handle her liquor.... kind of. More like we all got tipsy and forgot. But off the record, as long as I do the captions, it's her fault!
We took a drive down to my parents in Maryland to say HEY! It's only right if we see her parents, then we HAVE to see mine. Plus my mom gets upset when she doesn't see me for a while. I don't want that smoke.
SSSSSOOOOO Back to our regular scheduled programing! This time we cut it short, and I know you all are thinking me but it takes a lot to reel this young lady in. (sigh) This time we talk about weird house rules of the future (110 of them) and some other stuff. Feels so good to be on MV!
As we move closer to the wedding date, a lot of things with our jobs and life are changing. Cities opening back up with no real discussion about how overblown this "virus" was, and our business lives going from employees to owners. Lis told me on our first date that she wanted nothing to do with an entrepreneur... now she is one. Ask her! The beauty of life. Some things change for the better, lets see where these changes leads us.
We decided to remove the first recording and place this one up instead with all that is going on. We disagree or some of the things going on but can you guess who's on what side of things? For us a mixed couple, for Lis as a teacher at a majority Black school (over 10 years), and myself as a Black man this is important to discuss. We've both experienced situations with racism involved, separately and as a couple. I'm sorry Lis made this episode so long... I'll restrict her mic time next episode.
We are very different couple. We don't follow traditions for the sake of following traditions if they don't make sense. BUT I do think one tradition that should stay is the vows. Don't you agree! Or at least the one line. Idk... it's tradition!
It's exciting to be 10 episodes in. Thank you all for listening to our rambles. The planning for the wedding is in full force but with the lack of experience we have, Lis has outsourced a lot of the duties. Gosh! She's brilliant! Don't tell her I said that though.
I'm not even sure if I remember when this started. Went fro2 weeks to 2 MONTHS. Is this the new "normal". How do I reset this video game?
Making brownies, enjoying Martha's Vineyard for the week and oh yeah...I guess we got engaged. hahaha Can you tell which one of us wrote this description? Bet you can't!
After this is all done, how "NORMAL" will our actions return to? OR will there be a new "normal"? We dive into our thoughts on what will stay and what may become the new "NORMAL".
Is it just us that feels this way...WTF is going on outside. Today we discuss what's been annoying us during this pandemic and why it will continue for a longer than we think.
Loving, hating and doing some interesting things during this extended quarantine. We are thinking we should extend to a visual medium.... What are your thoughts?
Join our discussion as we update you on our loves, hates and doings...I'm not sure that's a word and I hope Lis doesn't read this. We go in-depth about our frustrations with job hunting as well. Thank you for your support!
This time we sit down and talk about the shows we are love, hate, and recommend you watch with us. From One Tree Hill to BlackList and across multiple platforms. What are your favorite shows? ElisabethMRoche.com/lissiland #netflix #hulu #blacklist
