What does it take to design interconnects for AI data centers pushing 112G, 224G, and even 448G? In this episode of the Altium OnTrack Podcast, host Zach Peterson sits down with Matt Burns, Director of Technical Marketing at Samtec, to unpack how connector technology has evolved to meet the demands of modern high-speed systems. From co-packaged copper and optics to near-package interconnects, Matt walks through Samtec's product families and explains why choosing your connector early in the design cycle is no longer optional at these speeds. The conversation also explores how these same high-speed design principles are trickling down into embedded systems, where physical AI and edge computing are creating new demands for smaller, faster, denser interconnects. Matt shares insights from DesignCon, OFC, and Embedded World, painting a picture of an industry at an inflection point — one where robotics, AI accelerators, and open embedded standards are driving the next generation of connector innovation. Whether you're a PCB designer, systems architect, or just curious about what's happening at the bleeding edge of interconnect technology, this episode is packed with practical insight.
Ciena's Rebecca Smith sits down with Brodie Gage and Dino DiPerna to reflect on OFC 2026 and how optical technology is taking center stage in the AI Era. They share perspectives shaped by decades in the industry and discuss what it takes to build, scale, and operate AI-driven networks—inside the data center and beyond. The podcast touches on some of the latest innovations in optical networking, including scale up, scale out, and scale across architectures; coherent and co-packaged optics; liquid cooling; and next-generation hollow‑core fiber. Together, they separate signal from noise, unpacking what's real, what's hype, and what's coming next for operators, hyperscalers, and service providers.

Josh & Ivka review Heidelberg's comprehensive dismantling of Oakleigh, taking just 32 minutes to stick three goals past the hosts at Jack Edwards Reserve. And where did Chris Taylor's men come unstuck?Elsewhere, Green Gully are in full-blown crisis after losing to a side largely made of South Melbourne's U23s. This episode breaks down autism and intuition from the circuitry up. Intuition isn't magic—it's prediction. And in the autistic brain, that prediction system runs differently. Instead of compressing uncertainty into fast social “gut feelings,” autistic cognition preserves high-resolution detail, sustains prediction error, and builds insight through iterative modeling. Sensory cortex, parietal salience maps, insula, amygdala, OFC, and ACC all play a role in a system that prioritizes structural truth over social smoothing. We explore excitation–inhibition balance, oscillations, dopamine learning, and von Economo neurons to show how intuition in autism isn't diminished—it's reconstructed. Insight may arrive later, but when it does, it's deeply refined. This is a neuroscience-driven look at why autistic minds resolve uncertainty through coherence, not conformity—and why that difference matters. This episode will also explain WHY the Autistic phenotype has ACCELERATED LEARNING abilities. use "autism" for $50 off at Daylight Computer Company https://buy.daylightcomputer.com/autismand Daylight Kids https://kids.daylightcomputer.com/autismChroma Light Devices, use "autism" for 10% discount at https://getchroma.co/?ref=autism0:00 Autism & Intuition Introduction; Autos (“Self”) and Sensory Overload0:53 Daylight Computer Company, Daylight Kids & Chroma Light Devices (Technology, Biology, Light)3:26 What Intuition Really Is: Sensory Integration, Prediction, Memory, and Value5:02 Neurotypical vs Autistic Intuition; Prediction Error, E/I Balance, Iterative Processing7:00 Sensory Cortex & Higher Signal Fidelity; Prediction Errors and Raw Detail Preservation11:30 Posterior Parietal Cortex; Salience Maps, Anomaly Detection, Truth vs Social Narrative13:30 Anterior Insula & Amygdala; Interoception, Emotional Salience, Feeling vs Thinking17:30 Orbitofrontal Cortex; Value Computation, Internal Coherence vs Social Reward19:30 ACC Conflict Monitoring; Risk–Reward, Persistence, Errors23:30 The Learning Gate: Why Autism Enables Accelerated Mastery24:45 Von Economo (Spindle) Neurons; ACC–Insula Fast Intuition Pathway and Autism Differences28:40 Iterative Learning Loop; Prefrontal Modeling, Basal Ganglia Dopamine, Structural Coherence35:50 Autos (“Self”), Jung, Recursive Modeling, and Why Autistic Intuition Is Built—Not GivenX: https://x.com/rps47586YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGxEzLKXkjppo3nqmpXpzuAemail: info.fromthespectrum@gmail.com

Ever watch a simple contact spiral because someone felt disrespected? We sat down with Ofc. Jorge Lopez, a 30-year officer and veteran trainer, to unpack why ego flares so fast on the street and how to keep decisions anchored in reason, law, and outcome. Jorge doesn't preach clichés—he maps the psychology. Using Freud's id–ego–superego as a field-ready model, he shows how the “horse” (id) wants instant gratification, the “reins” (superego) tug toward ideals, and the “rider” (ego) has to steer under stress. When a “snake on the trail” appears—insults, defiance, a sudden kick—officers feel before they think. The trick is noticing the spike and buying time.We break down the limbic system and amygdala's threat signals versus the prefrontal cortex where law, policy, and judgment live. Anger is fast, fear is loud, and love—duty to protect—often proves stronger than both. George offers practical tools: the RULER method to recognize, label, and regulate emotions; the Johari Window to reveal blind spots that only emerge under heat; and his Four C's—Camera, Communicate, Contact, Control—to structure every interaction. Add his favorite formula—Distance + Cover = Time—and you get a simple path to safer, smarter choices that hold up in court and on camera. We also challenge the illusion of control. Crowds can't be commanded into calm; you monitor potential threats while solving the actual problem. Talk more, force less. Competence breeds calm, and the best fighters rarely need to prove it. You'll hear how internal scripts—It's not personal; Don't take the bait; Is this worth my career?—help officers steer back to thinking. And beyond tactics, we talk identity: building a life outside the badge so the job doesn't own you.If you're a cop, trainer, or curious citizen, this conversation delivers actionable mindset, emotional intelligence, scenario training insights, and street-proven frameworks to reduce unnecessary force and improve outcomes. That's how our Bourbon on the Banks weekend really started: a risky trade of perfect couch seats for a bucket-list pour, followed by a blur of Whiskey Thief hospitality, House of Commons dusties, and a festival tent that finally felt dialed in. We brought the mics, the Glencairns, and the stories; the river brought the rest. From there, we chased flavor and history. Limestone Branch joined us for cigars and their new eight-year bourbon in a replica 1850s limestone bottle. We unpacked a gift with weight: Bardstown's cathedral oak finish, made from French oak harvested for the Notre Dame rebuild, signed by Steve Nally for a birthday we plan to toast with friends. These aren't just bottles—they're chapters about craftsmanship, aging, sourcing, and the people who make it all possible. Then the breakdown began. We put Augusta Distillery's 13-year single barrel (140.8 proof) under the glass with our Barrel Bottle Breakdown scoring. The nose felt like molasses and brown sugar with a sneaky chocolate-peanut snap; the body coated and lingered; the palate delivered vanilla, caramel, cherry, and leather with the kind of confidence you expect from a 13-year. The twist? A medium finish that chose restraint over the chest-thumping “hug” you'd predict at hazmat. To test our instincts, we staged a head-to-head with Augusta Revival 13 (141 proof): Revival brought the warmth and length; Augusta 13 brought the polish and poise. Depending on your style—hug or harmony—you'll have a favorite. If you care about rare pours, hazmat bourbons, OFC lore, and why House of Commons belongs on your Frankfort map, this one's for you.
Podfic Time – “Celestial Requiem” by EldritchLibertineThis WIP (at least at the time of this publication) by Ke is an epic OFC tale placed directly in canon right from the first season of Supernatural. It's a slow burn, Castiel x OFC laden with additional angelic grace by one Archangel Gabriel. I was hooked at the start with the theme of found family and the heavy dose of surrogate father, Bobby Singer. Since I wouldn't be able to read the entire story, I asked Ke for a chapter suggestion (Note: Sorry to disappoint any CasLovers, but he hasn't arrived in the story yet at this stage of the narration). Enjoy! Visit the fic on AO3 and give it a kudo and comment - it deserves a ton of praise!Visit our website at idlingintheimpala.com and find out where to listen to ALL our Ramble Ons.~ Sandra~~~~~Supernatural FandomRated MatureCastiel/OFCSummary: Before humanity, God created perfect companions for each of His Archangels - not angel, not human, but something gloriously unique and designed to be the source of new angelic life. However, following Lucifer's rebellion, God's wrath was terrible and swift, and he separated these companions from the Archangels, casting them to Earth, cloaked in mortality and cursed to endless rebirth, their true nature hidden even from themselves. Angels were forbidden from seeking them, leaving both sides to endure an unspoken, cosmic grief.—When Reed Savoy was six years old, demons brutally slaughtered her family, leaving her the sole survivor. Rescued by Bobby Singer, she was taken in and raised as a hunter, unaware of her true nature. Now, at 28, Reed finds herself dragged into the Winchester's lives as they face danger from all sides.~~~~~Sound Effect Used: *Magic - Gingling effect by Vrymaa -- https://freesound.org/s/802726/ -- License: Creative Commons 0*Angel Wings.wav by Thimblerig -- https://freesound.org/s/688751/ -- License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0*01153 great wings in motion.wav by Robinhood76 -- https://freesound.org/s/75526/ -- License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0*pigeon wings.aif by tigersound -- https://freesound.org/s/9329/ -- License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0
On this episode, Sandra and Kasey are chatting with Ke, known as EldritchLibertine on AO3 and tumblr. Ke's watched Supernatural for years but only recently dived into SPN fandom and writing about the show's characters. Sandra discovered one of Ke's fics, Celestial Requiem (OFC x Castiel), which tackled the considerable undertaking of weaving her OFC throughout show seasons. Her focus on the theme of family and spotlighting Bobby hooked Sandra in from the start. Have a listen to learn about Ke's Supernatural journey, her writing style and methods, as well as her most recent favorite blorbo (no, it's neither brother nor Castiel). It's time for The Truth!Today, Sam and Dougie are looking at the Club World Cup, set to kick off just a couple of weeks after the European season ends. The tournament has divided fans and pundits alike, with some seeing it as a bizarre power play from FIFA to try and rival the riches of the Champions League, whilst others feel that it's an opportunity to spread the game's wealth on a more even keel globally. We examine the history of the tournament and where the concept originated from, before taking a look at how it matters differently to different areas of the globe - in some place, it's a real badge of honour; whilst in others, it's treated as a second-class trophy. Perhaps more importantly, there's a deep dive into the finances of the tournament and how it's going to work, as well as some thoughts on if we should really be adding more football into an already oversaturated calendar - whilst the concept of the CWC is a good one, generally; is there actually a real need for this given the amount of football players are already going through? So, is this global benevolence or a cash grab from the Federation? Are the big teams going to send shadow sides or are the megastars going to give it all they have? And to whom does this all matter most? Well, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

Anika and Liz don their gaudiest statement necklaces and medallions and get the band back together for an adventure in Millennial Greige, 46 years before TikTok invented that concept. Yes! It's time to discuss Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and yes, this episode is 90 minutes long, but please note that's still shorter than the movie itself. And we have a lot to talk about! Such as... Content note: In 2014, actor Stephen Collins admitted to "inappropriate sexual conduct with three female minors". We have chosen to talk about his character, but not his performance - as far as the two can be separated. Hot take: we like The Motion Picture Anika argues that Spock is the protagonist of The Motion Picture. Kirk is also in this movie. It's too often forgotten that Persis Khambatta is the first woman of colour to play the female lead in a Star Trek film (which is separate from the problem where, up until 2009, the films kept introducing new female leads rather than ever developing Uhura…) "My oath of celibacy is on record." Gene. What the fuck. Season 4 of Discovery has a lot of The Motion Picture in its DNA … and so does SNW! (Anika has a strong argument that Christine's characterisation in SNW owes more to this film than TOS) Possibly our most controversial opinion: we mostly like the uniforms Antimatter Pod: "We don't ship Kirk/Spock." Also Antimatter Pod: " Anyone who thinks that this movie is not about Kirk and Spock being in love is not watching this movie." Anika tells Liz about The Lost Years by JM Dillard, queen of the fiery red-haired psychic OFC
With tractors protesting outside the Oxford Farming Conference, what will the Defra Secretary say to farmers? Inheritance tax wasn't the focus of Steve Reed's speech, instead he promised a Plan for Change. He told delegates this must have three things: food production at its core, diversification of income, and restoration of nature as part of farming. He also announced speeding up the planning process for farm buildings. In contrast to the more established OFC which has been representing the industry since 1936, the Real Farming Conference, which started 15 years ago, attracts a huge range of farming enterprises. Its conference has 2000 delegates meeting across 19 venues, and has wider scope with more smaller farms, organic and artisan food producers. But the farmers there have similar concerns about the future of their businesses. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
Anna Hill is in Oxford for two major conferences: the Oxford Farming Conference and the Oxford Real Farming Conference. The first is traditionally seen as attended by the established and larger farms, and the Real Farming Conference has wider scope with more smaller farms, organic producers and artisan food producers. Both together represent UK farming as a whole. The theme at the OFC this year is 'facing change, finding opportunity'. With farmers under pressure with new farm payment schemes, challenging harvests and changes to inheritance tax, Anna asks what's the mood at the conferences.Produced by Beatrice Fenton.
