6: Creating Insights for Improved Operational Efficiency

PRESENTED BY ROCSOLE:We are in times of energy transition and the need to accelerate our path to net zero. However, energy production from oil and gas will still be around for many years. A majority of hydrocarbon production comes from mature fields infrastructure, with a variety of complex process conditions having to handle byproducts such as emulsions, solids production, and deposits. But how can we make simulations, prediction tools, and digital twins efficient ways to improve performances that also give a carbon advantage? To reach the Paris agreement, about 40% of carbon removal contribution has to come from operational improvements - here we talk about one of the core processing elements on facilities separation, which also has a major amount of bottleneck and shutdown issues. This core process has to be improved and with joint industry efforts, there is a massive improvement potential.Learn more in the podcast, and a big thanks to both Michel and Tom for the highly engaging discussion./MikaLinks to company websites:ROCSOLE: www.rocsole.comMySep: www.mysep.comKranji Solutions: www.kranjisolutions.com This is a public episode. #5: At the dawn of a major separation evolution

And we have a Christmas Special! James and I had a talk with Professor Johan Sjöblom. Johan recently crowned his 45-year academic career and decided to step out of this world. His publications are known around the world and frequently referred to in the oil and gas industry. What about emulsions affecting separation? This was one of the main topics we discussed. Also the industry has lacked the “eyes” inside separators in real-time to understand how well they work, how the performance gets affected by various conditions. This is something that we are now enabling with ROCSOLE and in that sense also disrupting the industry.Industry has been stuck with “Flintstone” technology, now we have to pace for the future with digitalization, data mining and improved process monitoring. This might even lead to new approaches in how to design separation facilities! With the new technology and the unique data renderred, operations can be tuned and optimized in new ways, emulsions can be analyzed and separation efficiency should be improved vastly. A new world is opening.Thank you for the great chat!/MikaToken:dRJZmnMVMnJvtVp1YkiM This is a public episode. #4: In-person conferencing again

James was recently attending the ADIPEC conferences, one of the world's top energy conferences. Being in Abu Dhabi and just days after COP26 was ended - was there anything to notice in terms of industry decarbonization efforts? And do companies collaborate well? A conservative industry like the energy sector is known for lengthy qualifications and also complexity for portfolio level adaption. And what about the workforce - is the industry attracting resources? Also, we chose not to have a stand at the conference. Is this more dynamic, for a sales team is this a way to “unleash the caged tiger” and let them rumble freely? Or how did the do it? Well, listen to the episode and you will hear some reflections on the above and more./Mika This is a public episode. James and myself had a very interesting talk with Erik Nijveld, the co-founder of technologycatalogue.com on technology implementation and how important it is to consider replication and portfolio level thinking. On their technology platform, they have some 900 technologies registered. This type of platform did not exist prior to technologycatalogue.com starting up.With technology, we need to consider both Operational Technology (OT) and the Information Technology (IT). Doing this properly the digital transformation can unlock huge improvement potential and disrupt existing business solutions.Operational efficiency and cost optimization will just increase in importance moving ahead. Sharing of best practices and removing silo mentality is key. Go for open innovation and industrywide collaborations! ...what's the name of our podcast…perhaps easy to forget when it is so fresh still (or I mix it up with my other show). Anyhow we recently held a ROCSOLE Tech Talk on sand management and the potential of improving production and efficiency. We are reflecting a bit around that session and talking further around these unwanted issues. Operational efficiency and excellence is also critical in decarbonizing operations (perhaps we should have talked more about it!). Here we go! A small surprise! Here is our first introductory podcast episode for the Operations & Optimization podcast. Both James and myself have been active in the oil and gas industry for a couple of hundred years (feels like that…), well at least for many years…With the energy transition and rate of innovation, we think that one of the keys for future energy supplies is to improve operational efficiency that also supports decarbonization. We want to invite guests to talk about relevant topics and sharing their expertise and experiences. We will reach out to our network and hoping for some engaging time discussing the future of energy. We hope you enjoy this, and please post your comments on anything relevant or guests we should invite. Brought to you by ROCSOLE - bringing game changing and award-winning solutions for actionable insights to operations. This is a public episode.
