Come with me as I struggle to learn photography.
Yes, I bought a new digital camera. No, I'm not giving up on film. I explain in this episode. Show notes: https://cdevroe.com/2022/04/22/podcast-new-canon90d/
I take out the new Mamiya 645 Pro TL for a spin. More notes and photos: http://cdevroe.com/2021/03/11/snow-dunes-mamiya
In this special episode of Photowalking with Colin I cover some recent mistakes I’ve made with film and in the darkroom. It seems we (the collective we) mainly share our victories online. I wanted to be sure to share the losses as well.

In this episode of the podcast I cover the fact that photo gear really does matter. That doesn't mean that you can't start learning photography with any gear you have on hand. It simply means that in certain situations gear can mean getting the shot or not. Find the photos here: http://cdevroe.com/2020/01/15/downy-woodpecker-november-2019/
I set out to find a weasel and did! Photos: http://cdevroe.com/2019/11/fisher Morten Hilmer: https://www.youtube.com/user/MortenHilmer
In this episode I visit a dam that isn't very far from where I live, though this is the first time I've ever seen it. Just above the dam were a ton of birds. Be sure to follow the link to the photos. Photos: http://cdevroe.com/2019/10/29/photowalking-culm Nick Carver: https://www.nickcarverphotography.com/ 22mm ∙ f/22 ∙ 1/15s ∙ ISO 100 I'd been wanting to use the Monochrome picture style in my Canon camera but hadn't found the right subject. Until this day, when the sun was still relatively high in the sky, and I remembered how Nick Carver took advantage of these less than stellar photographic conditions to make black and white photos in the desert. I don't have sand dunes or cacti available to me so I thought of using these anthracite culm piles as my sand dunes. I am happy with how the first photograph came out. But I'd like another crack at these, and a few different compositions, with a lens hood. Follow @cdevroe on Twitter and Instagram.
I hike deep into a nearby preserve and talk a little bit about how I crowd my subjects too much. Photos: http://cdevroe.com/2019/10/22/photos-from-the-state-game-lands-episode-of-photowalking-with-colin/
I had a run-in with a farmer and also fly my drone at sunset. See the photos.
In this episode I ramble on about composition of digital photography and also mention Nick Carver. Links: Nick Carver on YouTube Photos from this episode

In this episode I head north up Greenfield Road, take a few photos of a heron eating, speak to Walt and ask him if for permission to shoot on his property and genuinely have a great time. Forgive the audio. It's worth it.
