Snowy Shaw is one of the most versatile and visually distinctive figures in heavy metal. A Swedish multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and visual artist, Snowy first made a name for himself in the late 1980s as the drummer for doom pioneers Memento Mori, and later King Diamond, where his theatrical approach to drumming and showmanship stood out. He would go on to play in a long list of influential bands, contributing vocals, bass, drums, and guitar with equal confidence.Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Shaw became known as a kind of musical chameleon, joining forces with a number of high-profile metal acts including Mercyful Fate, Notre Dame, Dream Evil, and Therion. His ability to adapt stylistically while leaving his own artistic stamp made him a sought-after collaborator. Shaw often brought more than just musicianship—he had a hand in stage design, costumes, and overall presentation, giving many projects a more theatrical, immersive quality.Shaw's talents weren't limited to traditional band settings. He also built a solo career, blending gothic, symphonic, and extreme metal influences into his own theatrical brand. His solo shows featured elaborate costumes, character-driven songs, and a dark sense of humor. Albums like The Liveshow – 25 Years of Madness in the Name of Metal showcased his wide-ranging influences and deep roots in everything from classic rock to extreme metal. His silence came to an end with this exclusive interview. After weeks of avoiding the topic, Snowy sat down with me to tell the full story of what happened with Eurovision, how it impacted him, and why he stayed quiet. This marks the first and only time he has opened up about the situation, offering his honest thoughts and reflections on the next stage in his career. In addition to sharing that story, Snowy talks about his journey through the highs and lows of the music industry, his creative process, and what drives him today. Whether you're a longtime fan or just discovering his work, this conversation is a deep look into one of metal's most interesting minds. Five years ago, actor Giles Panton swung by the YVR Screen Scene Podcast to talk about voicing Iron Man in Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones, the sleighful of Christmas movies in his filmography, what he learned playing the minister of propaganda for the American Reich in Amazon Prime's critically acclaimed dystopian series The Man in the High Castle, and the Barbie commercial that broke up his band. It's a fantastic episode (which you can find in the episode footnotes or wherever you listen to podcasts), but a lot can change in five years. For instance, you can move from being the guy that always loses the girl in the rom-com to the guy who gets her. You can win a Leo Award for Best Performance in an Animation Program for your work in animated horror anthology series Red Iron Road AND a UBCP/ACTRA Award for voicing Carnage and Norman Osborne in Absolute Carnage. You can get an ADHD diagnosis that explains so much of how you move through the world. You can become a dad. In this compelling conversation – at times poignant; at times funny; always authentic and entertaining – Giles reflects on the many changes of the last five years, what it takes to be a leading man, working with Andrea Brooks on Snowy with a Chance of Christmas, pursuing joy, constructing grilled cheese sandwiches, and how his ADHD diagnosis changed his life. rWotD Episode 2925: Snowy (character) Welcome to Random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Wednesday, 7 May 2025, is Snowy (character).Snowy (French: Milou [milu]) is a fictional character in The Adventures of Tintin, the comics series by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. Snowy is a white Wire Fox Terrier who is a companion to Tintin, the series' protagonist. Snowy made his debut on 10 January 1929 in the first installment of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, which was serialised in Le Petit Vingtième until May 1930.Snowy is modeled in part on a Fox Terrier at a café that Hergé used to frequent. Milou, Snowy's original French name, was the nickname of Hergé's first girlfriend. In the first eight Tintin adventures, Snowy regularly addresses his internal monologue to the reader. Hergé diminished Snowy's speaking role after the introduction of Captain Haddock in the ninth story, The Crab with the Golden Claws. As of 1 January 2025, Snowy and other characters appearing in the 1929 The Adventures of Tintin comic strips have entered the public domain in the United States, but not in Hergé's native Belgium, which will be in 2054.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:39 UTC on Wednesday, 7 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Snowy (character) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Kimberly.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 3rd of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Malachi 3:18:”Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.” Then we go straight to the New Testament to the Book of Matthew 7:21, Jesus says:“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”The Lord has given us the ability to discern good from evil, righteous from unrighteous, and we need to use our God-given senses and not be foolish. The Lord says you shall know a tree by its fruit. An apple tree does not produce oranges, and an orange tree does not produce lemons. We need to understand that. We have got a magnificent bull on the farm here. He is a beautiful bull but very cheeky. Sometimes, when I ride Snowy, I go into that open field, and fortunately, Snowy is still very nimble and fast, but that bull watches me all the time. He doesn't take his eyes off me, and he is dangerous. Now, I have spoken to my grandsons, my two grandsons are very good horsemen and good stockmen and I have said to my one young grandson, Nathan, “Be careful of that young bull. Don't just wander across that field. He will charge you and he will hurt you.” We need to be very discerning. I am also a bee-keeper. I want to say to young people today, if it is a very hot day, the sun is shining and the bees are agitated because they are working very hard, do not go and disturb them. They will hurt you. You say young man, young lady, “I can run away from them Uncle Angus”. No, you can't, no-one, not even Usain Bolt can run away from a swarm of bees. I fear a swarm of bees more than a lion. We need to be discerning. Then lastly, I want to say to that young lady who is going out with that boy and he keeps saying “If you don't let me sleep with you then I am not going to be your boyfriend.” Give him the push, get rid of him, he is just using you. He does not love you. You tell that young man, “On the night that we get married, is the first night that we will love each other”, and he will soon tell you by his actions whether he loves you or whether he is trying to use you. Let us be wise. God has given us discernment, therefore let us use that ability.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

With Anzac Day just around the corner, Born to Watch honours a defining moment in Australian cinema with our Gallipoli (1981) Movie Review. Directed by Peter Weir and starring a young, raw Mel Gibson alongside Mark Lee, this film is more than a war story, it's a devastating portrait of friendship, sacrifice, and the tragic cost of blind patriotism. In this episode, Whitey and G-Man revisit the classic through a lens shaped by age, memory, and national identity. From the iconic opening scenes of sprinting through the outback to the haunting stillness of the battlefield at the Neck, Gallipoli strips away the glory of war and lays bare its cruel realities. The boys waste no time diving into the emotional core of the film, mateship. Whitey and G-Man see themselves in Frank and Archie, and they hilariously debate who's who. Is Whitey the cynical Frank, or is G-Man secretly more Archie than he'll admit? But it's not just about comparisons and callbacks to high school Anzac ceremonies. This is Born to Watch at its most reflective and reverent. The guys dig into the cultural significance of Gallipoli, how the film shaped their understanding of the Anzac legacy, and why it's essential viewing for every Australian. It's also a rare episode where the crew admits that this one is hard to joke about. Except, of course, when it comes to figuring out which of their mates is most like Snowy. They talk about how Gallipoli taught them what Anzac Day should mean. Not just a day off to play two-up and hit the pub, but a moment to remember real sacrifice. The 1981 film still hits hard, they argue, because it doesn't sugarcoat the futility of war. And when that final freeze frame lands, it guts you, every time. There's admiration for director Peter Weir, whose resume includes Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, and Master and Commander. But here, he's in peak form. Gallipoli's scale is intimate but never small; its visuals are sweeping, yet grounded in the personal. And the music? That synth track when Archie sprints across the desert? Still gives the boys goosebumps. The episode gets personal, too. Both hosts recall trying (and failing) to get their teenage kids to watch the film. They revisit childhood memories of Anzac Day school assemblies, the eerie power of “Only 19” and “Waltzing Matilda,” and the VHS that left a permanent mark. G-Man shares stories from his own pilgrimage to Gallipoli, visiting Lone Pine and The Nek and seeing firsthand the terrain that made the battle a bloodbath. As always, there's room for laughs, the mystery of Mark Lee's post-Gallipoli career, and whether it's safe to train for battle with live rounds (spoiler: probably not). But the tone stays grounded, respectful, and proud. They wrap things up with “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” highlighting Gallipoli's haunting silence, its unwavering focus on mateship, and its place in Australian cinematic history. It's not just a war film; it's a rite of passage.Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts!Join the conversation:Does Gallipoli still define the Anzac spirit? Is this Mel Gibson's best early performance?Have you visited the battlefield yourself?Drop us a voicemail at BornToWatch.com.au and be part of the show!#Gallipoli1981 #BornToWatch #GallipoliMovieReview #AnzacDay #PeterWeir #MelGibson #AustralianCinema #WarMovies #MoviePodcast #LestWeForget

Aaron is an accomplished musician. He's gifted on a number of instruments and frequently educates us with his Gear Talk. As for Snowy...not so much. He's never so much as owned an instrument. But that's not to say he doesn't appreciate a good axe. Especially if it's a signature instrument played live by a fave artist. For instance, Micheal Schenker's Flying V. Or one of Lemmy's basses. How about one of the guitars Mantas used to record their classic debut? So this week Aaron has a laundry list of these special instruments to quiz Snowy on how much he'd pay to have these awesome artifacts hanging on the RAM office walls. Musically, we crank some new and used from Haemorrhage, Slaughter (Can), Spazz, Massacra, Medieval Steel, Iron Curtain, Armoured Angel, Stainless and introduce Quebec bashers Vortex in our "Indie Spotlight". This is the Ibanez Gem owned by Steve Tai that sparked this topic. Horns up!!
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 25th of March, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Corinthians 9:8:”And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” We're talking about sowing seed, good seed. The Lord says that we must be cheerful givers. You don't give to the Lord reluctantly. He doesn't want your money or your effort if it burdens you. He wants you to give cheerfully and He also wants you to give bountifully. Now, any farmer will tell you that if you sow your seed in the ground bountifully, you will reap a bountiful crop, but if you hold back on your seed and you sow it sparingly, you will reap a very average to poor crop.Young farmers, I want to tell you something, when the going gets tough and it does, the one thing you don't hold back on is your seed. You always plant the best seed you can buy and you always plant generously. You know, if you have to cut back, rather cut back on your fertiliser, rather cut back on your land preparation, rather cut back on your spraying program but never, ever cut back on your seed. If you start sowing sparingly, you're going to reap sparingly. If you start sowing inferior seed the chances are you'll get a poor crop but if you sow generously, you'll reap generously. The Lord also likes a consistent giver. Farmers, you can't go for it and then pull back, then go for it again. You'll end up with nothing. If you're going to go for it, put everything in that you can and expect a good return and you'll get it and be a cheerful giver. It's a blessing to give to people isn't it. I love giving to people. I love to see the smile on their face when I give them one of my little Snowy books. Those little children's faces light up. It is such a privilege and such an honour. This Scripture is a particularly special scripture for Jill and I. When we got saved, I was going to give the farm away. That's right. I was going to Bible College, I was going to become a pastor but I said to Jill, "I'm going to pray about it.“ I went up the mountains and I fasted and prayed. I came back and God gave me this Scripture, but listen to this! Jill was having her own quiet time and God gave her the exact same Scripture. So we kept the farm and we have sowed and I think we have been more successful than if I'd given the farm away because we've used the farm for the Gospel. Remember, Jesus was given to us by our Father in Heaven. He is the ultimate giver. He gave us His only beloved Son. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 18th of March, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Thessalonians 5:24:”Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.Folks, I am so excited today. Do you know that it is the anniversary of 5 years of doing the Thought for The Day, without missing one single day! All the glory, honour and praise go to our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, we have not missed a single day, not me, or the team, or the producers, or the editors. We have not missed one single day - not when it has been raining, not when the sun has been beating down, not when there has been wind and ice and heat, not one single day. You know, we have tried very hard not to tell the same story twice in 5 years and it can only be God. I have many friends who are preachers, good preachers and they do say it can only be God if you have not repeated yourself once in 5 years. We are reaching out to the ends of the world every single day. I am talking about Christmas Day, Easter, I am talking about seven days of the week, to the end of the world, in the city, in the bush. I have done it from Israel, I have done it from Namibia, I have done it from all over, wherever we go, literally in sickness and in health. Now a lot of you remember, it wasn't that long ago that I could hardly speak. My voice actually went, but by the grace of God, we managed to get those programmes out to you. I want to take this opportunity to thank our team and to thank our producer, our editors. I want to thank those who have done the pictures faithfully, the music. I want to thank the people who are sending it out every single day. I have a gentleman who is one of my spiritual sons, Anton, he sends it out from Cape Town. I think he has over a hundred broadcast groups that he sends out himself. We don't even know how many people are getting this because we can't find out in any way, but there must be millions of people all over the world, so thank you for listening. Old people, young people, children, women - listen carefully, babies! I am talking about soldiers, I am talking about police stations that have all their soldiers and their policemen standing at ease when they get the Thought for The Day, every single morning. I am talking about schools that play it every morning before school, at school assembly, for doctors, prisoners in jail, many, many, many - people in hospitals, in ICU, getting Thought for The Day every single morning. Folks, babies - I have seen! Mothers have sent me clips which made me cry, babies that are crawling around. They put them on the chair and they play the Thought for The Day and the children don't move. It is God!Cats and dogs, I kid you not. I have got Snowy standing right next to me here, you can see him. Parrots - parrots listening to the Thought for the Day! Jesus Christ's word is going throughout the whole world and I want to say thank you very much for supporting us. Please continue to do so and we will continue to put this out every single morning until the day that the Lord says, “Okay, that's it” and I will stop on that very same day. Thank you for praying for me, most of all and praying for my family and for my loved ones and for our team.Jesus bless you richly as you continue to be faithful in what God has called you to do, whatever that might be!God bless you and goodbye.

Hey there! How's your weekend going? Can you believe February is flying by already? Here in Kentucky, we're having a weather rollercoaster with snow, spring, and a touch of summer. Personally, I'm so ready for spring - I can't wait to start gardening. Snow? Ugh, I'm over it! Anyway, I wanted to chat with you about something intriguing. Do you ever find it strange when your folks bomb you with a million questions about your whereabouts? It's like they're super detectives whenever you step out the door. Well, there's a reason for that, and it ties into something bigger—how the world sees autistic individuals, especially when true crime stories hit home. Let me share with you Alvin Ridley's incredible journey—an autistic man almost wrongfully convicted for murder, just because his behavior was misunderstood. His story is entwined with jaw-dropping courtroom drama, the human condition, and yes, even a sprinkling of humor! If you're captivated by tales of justice and redemption—or just curious about autism awareness—this episode is one you shouldn't miss. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's dive into a story showing why understanding and awareness matter more than ever. Matt didn't finish the movie, but plans to. A.J. Brown and the Viral Book Trend 00:07:34 – 00:11:22 A.J. The hosts debate whether the guy had back issues or was just exaggerating. Dog Ownership and Neighbor Issues 00:24:30 – 00:29:07 Matt complains about cleaning up after his dog in the backyard before snowfall. Chris shares how his dogs only use one area of the yard, which is both a blessing and a problem. Matt vents about neighbors who don't pick up after their dogs. In retaliation, Matt once placed dog waste on his neighbor's porch as a message. Chris calls it super aggressive and suggests having a conversation first. Dental Office Mishap & Open-Concept Dentistry 00:41:03 – 00:44:16 Matt shares a story about showing up to his dentist only to find they moved locations without informing him. Chris and Matt criticize the trend of open-concept dentistry, where patients have no privacy. Matt overheard a woman casually discussing swallowing her own tooth. Chris would have asked follow-up questions if he were there. Closing Thoughts 00:47:45 – End Chris and Matt discuss game-day weather forecasts.
