In a branch of music where research plays such a central role, how can there be such a disconnection between research and performance? How can we create cooperation between both fields? These themes, according to Rebekah Ahrendt, are central in "EarlyMuse", a research action funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). Listen to her describe her ideal world in this final episode of the 4th season of the Early Music Podcast! What's the situation of inclusion in the Early Music sector? In this episode, countertenor Reginald Mobley puts the issues of race, gender, and more generally, identity under the spotlight. He talks about the challenges and discrimination he faced as an Afro-American singer, and opens our eyes to the progress that still needs to be made to make the sector more inclusive. In the NEW CANON novel From a Certain Point of View The Return of the Jedi, Disney decides to make it so that Obi-Wan never told Luke about Vader because of the DARK SIDE IN HIM. This is the most absurd ridiculous bit of nonsense I've seen as of lately from Disney changing the Star Wars canon. I'm tired of this. Stop changing the story George Lucas wrote and interjecting your own made up garble, Disney. We should be preserving the story and only ENHANCING it, not changing key reasons as to why main characters did things. Do you agree or disagree? Learn more about your ad choices. Count Dooku is one of the coolest and most underrated characters in Star Wars. Trained by Master Yoda, and Master to Qui-Gon Jinn who taught Obi-Wan Kenobi, to teach Anakin Skywalker...he's kind of like Anakin's great grandfather so to speak. But that's not why I think he's awesome. He was just so different than the bland and dry Jedi who acted like robots. He felt the Jedi should adhere to the force, not the politics of the republic. In this episode, Angela and Joshua welcome Portia Dunkley, founder of the New Canon Chamber Collective. Sharing her all too familiar experience of young Black classical musicians being few and far between in the industry, Dunkley found her passion and motivation to create and cultivate an ensemble that identifies, elevates, and celebrates the contributions of the African diaspora within the genre in Miami, FL. Dunkley features "Symphony No. 5" by William Grant Still and "The Oaks" by Florence Price on the Collective's inaugural concert, affirming the sounds of Blackness and Americana in classical music. For more updates and information, follow New Canon Chamber Collective on Facebook and Instagram.Featured Music:"Symphony No. 5 (Western Hemisphere) Mvt. 4" by William Grant Still, performed by the Fort Smith Symphony"The Oaks" by Florence Price, performed by the Women's Philharmonic OrchestraSupport the show

What can we as readers do to change which books the world considers 'important'? Three years ago, we started this podcast with a mission to create a more inclusive, contemporary canon. Were we successful? In our final episode we take a look back at our show to consider what it means to create a new canon. Thanks to everyone who has listened to us along the way. Part 3 of 3: The final installment, A New Canon, places the work of color theorists, Mary Gartside and Emily Noyes Vanderpoel in historical context so as to examine how their inclusion (and by extension, additional underrepresented color theorists and practitioners) may help us to understand how we may expand our contemporary approaches to color usage in all creative visual fields.
In this episode, Jared & Stephen discuss their press trip to San Diego for the Canon R6 Mark II, Nikon's GIANT new lens, Jared photographing the WORLD SERIES & more! Text us with any thoughts and questions regarding this episode at 313-710-9729. This is RAWtalk Episode 023!
Part 2 of 3. In this episode, I read the middle portion of an essay I have written, which could become a chapter in a future publication. (Read in three parts.)Abstract:This essay charts how the term harmony came to be used by European and North American artists, designers, and educators as a qualitative descriptor of color usage and design. Originating in metaphysics and philosophy in BCE Greece as a method to link the functioning of the five senses, including color vision, the concept entered into the vernacular of design via architecture during the Italian Renaissance. Throughout the 19th and early 20th Centuries, theorists and educators claimed the authority to define objective harmonies in color usage and design; forming methodologies that have been ubiquitous in practice over the past 100 years. The final section of the essay, A New Canon, places the work of color theorists, Mary Gartside and Emily Noyes Vanderpoel in historical context so as to examine how their inclusion (and by extension, additional underrepresented color theorists and practitioners) may help us to understand how we may expand our contemporary approaches to color usage in all creative visual fields.

In this special episode, Ilvy Njiokiktjien meets the new crop of Canon Ambassadors, who all specialise in videography to find out about their lives and careers. In the first part of the episode she talks with videographers Tania Freimuth, Francesca Tosarelli and Elisa Iannacone who have all just joined the programme about the past, present and future of their careers, as well as a discussion on the importance of film festivals to all filmmakers. In the second part we hear from two of the other new Ambassadors - Marcel Mettelsiefen and Nicolai Deutsch - as well as a message from established Ambassador Sébastien Devaud. On this week's episode, the fearless MuggleCasters take it upon themselves to answer Secrets of Dumbledore's biggest unanswered questions, using their extensive knowledge of the Wizarding World to provide plausible answers and put to bed the movie's most dangling plot threads. Join Andrew, Eric, Laura and Micah on this fun journey through the plot points and listen as they finally discuss whether their own prophecy about the movie came true! Main Discussion: Can our knowledge of book canon help us explain the events of Fantastic Beasts 3? In what YEAR is the third movie set? Some title cards would have been helpful! Are there clues in the props? What became of Nagini? Andrew, Laura and Micah provide a tragic outcome while Eric imagines a spa day. Where is Tina Goldstein, really? The "she's busy" explanation does not hold any giggle water for us! Was Newt ever allowed back to Hogwarts after his expulsion, and did he complete his schooling there?
