Hey folks, Alex here, and welcome to a BIG MODEL week! We finally got Mythos (well almost)! Let me catch you up! This week started with WWDC26 from Apple, and Max Weinbach, who was in the room at Apple Park and actually has access to some of the new features including an all new SIRI AI, joined us to break down what could be the most used AI in the world very soon. At first I was skeptical, but he convinced me that the new Siri is actually good! Then, we saw the ultimate model drop: Anthropic finally shipped Mythos (X, my system card thread, benchmarks). Same weights, two names: Mythos 5 is the unrestricted version that only Project Glasswing partners get, Fable 5 is what the rest of us get, wrapped in the heaviest guardrails I've ever seen ship on a frontier model. It's state of the art on nearly every benchmarkThe model that was “too dangerous to release” is now... well, released, but with the heaviest guardrails we've seen. More on this later. Peter Gostev from Arena.ai joined us to break down the new model. Last but definitely not least, Google released a real-time translation model, that our friend Thor Schaeff from DeepMind demoed live, while we all spoke in different languages and it translated us in REAL TIME. It was really cool, definitely check that out. There's quite a few more things, like Loop Engineering Alpha, Swyx came by to talk about FrontierCode, OpenAI confirmed our suspicions that the anti-datacenter social media posts could be a concerted effort by groupds links to the Chinese government and much more. Let's dive in! ThursdAI - Let me catch you up, every week!
Apple just announced its “new” Siri AI. But is is ACTUALLY new? And will Apple actually be able to ship it? At its WWDC 2026 conference, Apple unveiled kinda the same thing it promoted at its WWDC 2024 conference but failed to deliver on. There's a new Siri AI and improved Apple Intelligence that the company said will be rolling out later. So what does it do? And should you start readjusting your workflow now? We break it all down in today's episode. Bobby and Jon are back with a pre-WWDC catch-up recorded the day before Apple's 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference. The episode begins with Bobby calling Jon from his new iPhone Air, having just switched away from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. That leads into a wider conversation about why “less is more” might be exactly what Apple needs right now, whether the iPhone Air is the perfect antidote to oversized phones and why the Apple ecosystem has started to feel more complicated than it used to.From there, Bobby and Jon preview WWDC26, looking at what Apple may announce across iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, Vision OS, Siri and Apple Intelligence. They discuss whether Siri can finally become genuinely useful, whether Apple's cautious approach to AI is actually a strength and why the company needs to balance intelligence, privacy, safety and simplicity. The conversation also takes a more serious turn into AI trust, generative AI, chatbot dependency, Silicon Valley's disconnect from the real world and the dangers of releasing powerful technology before it's properly ready. Then the episode swerves into motoring, with Bobby and Jon debating the new Ferrari Luce, its controversial design, whether it really feels like a Ferrari and whether Jony Ive's involvement makes the whole thing more interesting. Jon also confirms he has ordered the Kia EV3 and gives an update on the long-running Nissan saga. Also covered: Apple TV, CarPlay, Vision Pro, Apple Watch Ultra, AirPods, proper cameras, camping gear and why watching an Apple keynote with a beer and Notes app open is apparently a perfectly normal hobby.Chapters00:00 - WWDC begins tomorrow00:09 - Bobby calls from the new iPhone Air00:57 - Less is more and what Apple needs now01:33 - Moving away from the iPhone 17 Pro Max02:36 - Amazon discounts and the iPhone Air deal03:55 - Apple Watch battery life without iPhone05:27 - Why WWDC is really for developers05:55 - Smart home, smart glasses and foldable iPhone hints06:39 - Why the iPhone Air finally makes sense08:03 - Phone cameras versus proper cameras09:08 - Jony Ive, design magic and lightness10:11 - Tailoring, comfort and the feeling of not feeling something11:13 - iPhone Air size, screen and titanium body13:21 - Bobby's upcoming iPhone Air review plan14:21 - Has the Apple ecosystem become too complicated?15:48 - tvOS and the next Apple TV17:42 - Siri, Apple Intelligence and make-or-break WWDC18:14 - What a standalone Siri app could become19:10 - ChatGPT, Gemini and third-party AI integration20:04 - AI fatigue and young people pushing back21:43 - Silicon Valley, AI CEOs and real-world disconnect22:17 - AI chatbots, dependency and safety concerns25:14 - Is Apple cautious rather than behind?28:32 - Moving back to WWDC predictions29:04 - What should the new Siri actually do?31:23 - CarPlay, driving and putting your phone in the boot33:02 - Siri on Apple Watch and voice-first usefulness34:08 - Ferrari Luce discussion begins35:02 - Is the Ferrari Luce really an SUV?36:08 - Does it actually feel like a Ferrari?36:33 - Jon orders the Kia EV337:52 - Would Jon buy the Luce after winning the lottery?39:35 - Collectibility, rarity and future value43:24 - Why Jon chose the Kia EV345:33 - Nissan admits it can't fix Jon's car48:03 - Watching the WWDC keynote49:32 - Vision OS and immersive content50:25 - Project Hail Mary on Vision Pro51:01 - Final WWDC thoughts and September expectations53:02 - iPhone Air battery update and closing thoughtsApple, WWDC26, iPhone Air, Siri, Apple Intelligence, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, Vision Pro, Apple TV, ChatGPT, Gemini, AI safety, Ferrari Luce, Jony Ive, Kia EV3, electric cars, Nissan, Tailoring Talk Magazine, Roberto Revilla, Jon Evans Hosted on Acast. How do distant galaxies form? If you have two distant clouds of hydrogen, why does one turn into a star and another doesn't? To find out, Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu welcome Dr. Erika Hamden, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Arizona. If Erika looks familiar, that might be because her TED Talk or “New Frontiers,” the TV show she hosts on Arizona Public Media. As always, though, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing, Artemis II, our first manned mission around the moon since 1972. Chuck, Allen and Erika share their excitement watching the mission, and especially the landing, while we watch the “only good video of the moon ever taken with a phone” that Reid Wiseman shot on his iPhone. Dr. Hamden tells us about her research into how distant stars and galaxies form. To fill in the blanks of this cosmic puzzle, she observes hydrogen in its elemental or molecular form – not looking at the stars themselves, but the emissions from hydrogen atoms. You'll learn about star formation in our galaxy and how Erika discerns the moment that a new star “first turns on.” Then it's time for our first audience question. Emma B. asks, “How many galaxies are there?” Erika says that in the observable universe, it's an outrageously large number, probably hundreds of billions or more. We take a look at the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image, which reflects a “tiny, tiny part of the sky,” where every dot except for the 3 stars is a galaxy. And that's just the universe we can see. Chuck asks Erika to tell us about her book, “Weird Universe: Everything We Don't Know about Space (and why it's important).” Professor Hamden shares her belief that anyone can understand anything if it's explained the right way to them. She talks about a poem by Rebecca Elson called “Responsibility to Awe” and the responsibility scientists have to share the wonders of the world with everybody. For our next audience question, Ava asks, “What is the craziest job in Astronomy that you have seen AI take over from humans?” Erika talks about using LLMs to review the digitized photographic plates of stars and the massive amount of data from the Vera Rubin Observatory, and also which activities still require human creativity. Speaking of creativity, it turns out that before becoming an astrophysicist, Erika got a diploma at Le Cordon Bleu in London and had a career as a professional chef. She still loves to cook and shares her recipe (below) for the Swedish-style cardamom buns she shows us in the episode. Finally, before we go, we congratulate Emily on recently being awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. She shares some wisdom and advice she's learned on her journey that she also tells her students, but according to her it's a bit “cheesy” so we'll let her tell you in the show. If you'd like to know more about Dr. Hamden, you can keep up with her research, follow her on her social media accounts, and find out about her book by visiting her website. We hope you enjoy this episode of The LIUniverse, and, if you do, please support us on Patreon. Erika's Cardamom Bun Recipe You can find the original recipe here on Cecilia Tolone's Substack. Erika's Modifications: “My changes are that I add more milk- about 75 grams more, because American flour is drier and Tucson is especially dry! And I played around with adding chiltipin flakes (a local, very spicy pepper) to the filling to make it kind of spicy. It's great! Finally, I use whole cardamom seeds from Penzey's that I grind before putting in.” Credits for Images Used in this Episode: Artemis II end of mission splashdown. – Credit: NASA/ Bill Ingalls. 253 Bobby and Jon are back with another candid Tailoring Talk Magazine call, covering hot weather dressing, the return of office dress codes, Bobby's Bentley factory visit, craftsmanship, AI fatigue, iPhone regrets, Apple rumours and why smartphones might be the root of all evil. The conversation begins with the practical problem of dressing well when it's hot, including summer shorts, espadrilles, sliders, Jesus creepers and why office dress codes are starting to make a comeback after going too far the other way. That leads into a bigger discussion about dressing appropriately for your role, your environment and your audience, rather than simply defaulting to “wear a suit” or “wear whatever you like”. Bobby shares how he's been helping companies think through modern dress codes in a more nuanced way, especially now that workplace expectations are shifting again. The main thread of the episode is Bobby's recent private visit to the Bentley factory, where he hosted VIP clients and came away deeply inspired by the craftsmanship, process, detail and human skill behind each car. That sparks a wider conversation about why people value handmade things more once they understand what goes into them, and why showing the process behind bespoke tailoring could completely change how clients experience the workroom. From there, Bobby and Jon get into AI, authenticity and the likely return of appreciation for human-made work. They discuss whether AI is useful as a tool, where it becomes problematic, and why practical effects, handmade objects and real creative accidents still matter. As always, it's candid, chaotic and only loosely on the rails.Timestamps00:00 - Scorchio, Harry Enfield and the heatwave00:48 - Jon's difficult week and British stewardess behaviour01:51 - Hot weather, dogs and summer dressing problems02:32 - Jon's heatwave outfit confession03:50 - Bobby's off-duty dog-walking outfit04:23 - Shorts, trainers and espadrilles05:20 - Jesus creepers and visible feet in summer06:20 - Hot weather and office dress codes06:46 - Why workplace dress codes are coming back07:40 - Modern dress codes need nuance08:16 - Dressing appropriately for your role09:02 - Bentley factory visit and professional standards10:10 - Rookery Hall and the Bentley trip11:31 - The Bentley Bentayga and soft-close doors12:09 - Meeting the people behind the cars12:49 - Why Bentley's craftsmanship moved Bobby13:10 - Reworking the Roberto Revilla London workroom experience14:08 - Showing clients the process behind the product15:26 - Building a visual journey into the workroom16:26 - AI, handmade work and the artisan resurgence17:28 - Practical effects and why Project Hail Mary feels real18:30 - Vinyl, cassettes and analogue nostalgia18:51 - The Boys and practical effects19:40 - Creative accidents versus perfect planning20:33 - Where AI helps and where it becomes dangerous21:00 - Jon's AI workflow for teaching22:32 - Google AI and the foothills of the singularity22:58 - How seeing craft changes the client experience24:44 - Lost signal and revisiting the Bentley headrest story25:58 - Robots, Minis and mass production26:50 - Bobby's BMW M2 finally gets a proper run28:14 - Why Bentley changed Bobby's view of expensive cars29:03 - Ferrari interiors and Jony Ive design philosophy30:36 - iPhone 17 Pro Max damage and aluminium versus titanium31:38 - Bobby's iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max usage32:36 - Why the iPhone Air makes sense as a work phone34:22 - Amazon deals and the MacBook Air bargain35:07 - Folding iPhone rumours35:42 - Would Bobby actually buy an iPhone Fold?37:02 - Jon's anti-phone existential crisis37:37 - Phone fatigue and wanting to shut the curtains38:04 - Reading nights, music and fewer screens38:36 - Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods rumours39:25 - AirPods cameras, gestures and accessibility40:52 - What Jon wants from WWDC42:04 - A better Siri and Apple Intelligence43:40 - Washing up, domestic glamour and Bond First Light45:28 - Wrapping up Hosted on Acast. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, it's what we call a quick "chit chat" episode to start off your 4-day work week :-) Harrison joins us for all of about a minute before we sent him home with the kids… but NOT BEFORE Tate said "hello" to the pod listeners (guys, she was so proud of herself for using the mic). We start with our MDW block party recap. We had 200+ people show up, the dunk tank was the unexpected MVP, and Harrison flipped 200+ burgers/dogs (because the man does everything 200%). OH — and it wouldn't be a block party in Austin if a Waymo didn't get confused and stuck on our street for like 15 minutes (hahahha). We also get into our actual TIPS on how to throw your own block party because it's so much easier than you think (even though it was a big “get out of your comfort zone” moment for us). Then we get into a little pop culture: the ESPN announcer who refused to say Taylor Swift's name during the Cavs game (?? still confused why), Jessica Simpson didn't even NEED to make a comeback (you guys… her net worth is $200M vs. Hilary Duff's $20M, which completely flipped our opinion from last ep), and we covered her response to the Nick Lachey flight situation (her mom bought the first class tickets… mystery solved!). Then we continue our new ongoing debate over crown vs. crayon (10% of you actually say crown!!), which spirals us into a whole conversation about regional dialects (the NYT Dialect Quiz, the Cleveland "tree lawn", and Alex saying "sea-ment" instead of "cement"). Oh and apparently Jules made a VIRAL BuzzFeed quiz back in the day that had millions of hits (which Halo Top flavor are you?! Guys please take this and lmk in the comments - https://www.buzzfeed.com/minichjg/can-we-guess-your-go-to-halo-top-flavor-with-six-q-37u2u). Plus, because Harrison left with the kids and we had time on our hands, we went TIKTOK LIVE with you guys to do a Q&A for the first time!!! We got into so many random questions in real time: moving, potty training, the hardest part of parenthood, the Pumpables pump that has changed my life, and so much more. Then we end with two important (read facetiously) questions: should you let your kid stay up past bedtime if they're reading? (The "run or read" bedtime hack that's getting a lot of buzz online.) AND… is it socially acceptable to bring Jules's new ORANGE iPhone 17 Pro Max to a black tie wedding?! (We think yes, because Morgan Stewart said so.) OK hope you guys had fun — WE DID! LOVE YOU GUYS! The ladies open with coffee splash photo challenge fails, including Jackie's noble attempt at a witch's cauldron and Ashe's lone half melted ice cube while Christy's iPhone 17 Pro Max once again outclasses everyone. They tease the Freedom 250 GART in Deadwood, complete with red, white, and blue welcome dinner plans and a renewed hope that Zach Payne and only Lance actually grow mullets. Christy takes the professor's chair for the idiom hands down, which turns out to come from horse racing and not, sadly, a dramatic courtroom gesture, just in time for Napoleon Solo to win the Preakness in a suspicious bit of comms. Ashe walks through her in person visit with Tina Peters two days after Governor Polis granted clemency, unpacking what is actually going on with the weaponization of government, why this case was never about elections despite the headlines, what Tina actually misses (her 97 year old mother, a real steak, a salad with actual tomatoes), why she will not see her dog Minka until she is certain she is not leaving her again, and why people who say she did nothing wrong are missing the same point as people who call her a threat to democracy. Christy closes with how to swallow gel caps without choking and how to unlock a child safety cap forever.
From breaking down the psychology of money and savings to teaching young people how to escape the betting trap and start real businesses with just 496 cedis, and why the brutal truth about why most people stay poor is because they only focus on the physiological needs of food shelter and clothing asking why do I need more money won't I die and let my next of kin come and enjoy when actually the money you're using for betting could buy a sachet of pure water that you sell and make profit and thrive because there are no two ways about betting it is wrong and addictive with people sliding into DMs telling stories about what they're going through and how they cannot stop, the social entrepreneur running 30 Seats Challenge teaching people to save one cedi on January first then two cedis on January second adding one cedi each following day so by the end of January you have saved 496 cedis which is enough to start a business but people have the misconception that you save one cedi every day when that's not how you get to 66,000 cedis by the end of the year, the young educator who explains that 496 cedis can start a phone accessory business because one phone case goes between 40 to 80 cedis so you can buy five cases wholesale or retail depending on the price and trust because the price they give a different person is not the same price they give you if you are trustworthy and you can sell it with 30 cedis profit especially now that iPhone 16 Pro Max cases are trending and people even buy iPhone 16 Pro Max camera protectors to put on their iPhone 7 Plus to make it look like the latest phone, the problem with society being so full of itself tied to social abilities where people bet with money they don't have and the benefits they get from betting are wasted and it's so addictive they cannot stop which is why the platform educates people that for the sake of your life and your future and your generation stop betting save the money start something small, the savings strategy that teaches you to cut down certain expenses and save for your future knowing that savings is just for a particular time before you move to investing, the reality that before you move from physiological needs to safety needs to love and belongingness it might look like a little step but it's not in money because if you have 50 cedis to cater for food shelter and clothing that 50 cedis is not going to cater for your safety needs when illness strikes because no hospital charges 50 cedis and when you move to love and belongingness with a wife and children what's 50 cedis going to do for you, the breakdown of Maslow's hierarchy showing that people only start thinking about investment at the esteem level after they've catered for physiological needs safety needs and love and belongingness because now they have to take care of themselves and their future before reaching self actualization where they invest big time in shares that work for them and they do not necessarily have to do something else, the opportunity for young people even in SHS or university to start growing cash flow by learning selling skills whether using social media or apps or being able to convince and speak to people because the only thing you need to learn is how to sell. THE TEA ☕We're back, we went to Washington D.C., and we finally figured out what a selfie stick says about your influencer era. (Spoiler: Kelly is thriving.)WHAT WENT DOWNFirst things first — Kelly got a Pro Max and we need to talk about it. The home button is gone, the cameras are fancier, and somewhere out there, Abby's iPod Nano is still buried under McDonald's wrappers in the back of a car. From there, we took a trip to Capitol Hill because we were invited to the Support is Care Summit — a nonpartisan advocacy effort focused on making sure cancer patients get whole person support, not just medical treatment. Financial help, childcare, caregiver resources, acupuncture — the stuff nobody tells you about when you're in the thick of it. Kelly got real about how her emotional support has actually been harder after treatment than during it, and hearing other people say the same thing out loud was a moment. If you or someone you love has been touched by cancer, please look up Support is Care. Also: Christi does not like acupuncture. She doesn't like foreign things in her body. We explored the full philosophical implications of this, given certain choices she has made. Moving on.Then we learned two Gen Z words from Clara and her friends on the way to a Florence and the Machine concert. You're welcome in advance. Chud (rude, ugly, unintelligent — basically, don't be one) and fit-mogging (when someone's outfit is so good it upstages yours). We are educating the masses. And THEN — we watched Vanderpump Villa, and we are here to expose it. Not recap it. Expose it. These people did not arrange those flowers. There is an entire production team. Nobody is casting someone hot enough to sleep with the guests AND talented enough to build a centerpiece, and we know this because WE LIVED IT. The cheese plates at Kelly's house? Producers. The stakes ($50K this season, $30K last) exist to make you care — same reason every Dance Moms episode had a pyramid. We see you, producers. We respect it.Stassi is there to drive the story because she has nothing to lose and knows exactly what she's doing — Lisa does the same thing but in an English accent and with more plausible deniability. Dad Talk does not need to be there. Jordan needs to kiss Marciano on the mouth for giving him a storyline. Hannah had a lot going on with that lip gloss. Somebody was always spying on somebody, and the cameras were already set up. Ekansu literally walked away from a fight and said they got what they wanted — girl, SAME. Also Stassi's sister Georgie showed up to announce she's moving to L.A. during the Dad Talk episode. Call us in six months when the spinoff trailer drops. Hosted on Acast. On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss all of the rumors surrounding Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, now said to be called the “iPhone Ultra," which is shaping up to be a comprehensive redesign unlike anything the company has shipped before. The iPhone Ultra is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this fall, though reports suggest it will ship after the Pro models, potentially as late as December. Pricing is expected to start at over $2,000, making it the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever sold. The device will have a book-style, passport-shaped design with a 4:3 aspect ratio, wider than it is tall and unlike any foldable currently on the market. When closed, it will have a 5.5-inch outer display; when open, a 7.8-inch inner OLED panel takes over, making it just slightly smaller than the 8.3-inch iPad mini. According to design leaks from Instant Digital, the device will measure just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, which would make it Apple's thinnest iPhone to date. The outer frame is said to be made of titanium for durability at that thinness, while the inner frame uses aluminum. The back features a glass finish with a shorter, iPhone Air-style camera plateau housing two horizontally arranged rear cameras. The same leak revealed that volume buttons are relocated to the top edge of the device, aligned to the right. The inner display features a single punch-hole cutout resulting in a smaller Dynamic Island, while a Touch ID power button and Camera Control remain on the right edge. Reports indicate the iPhone Ultra will support iPad-style multitasking and layouts for running apps side by side when unfolded, befitting its iPad mini-sized inner display. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has described it as the "most significant overhaul in the iPhone's history."Achieving that ultra-thin form factor comes with tradeoffs, and the iPhone Ultra will be missing several features that iPhone users have come to expect, in some ways echoing the compromises Apple made with the iPhone Air. The iPhone Air went without stereo speakers, a SIM card slot, and multiple rear cameras to achieve its 5.6mm frame; the iPhone Ultra faces similar constraints at an even more demanding 4.5mm. The ultra-thin chassis leaves no room for a triple-lens camera setup, so the telephoto lens found on iPhone Pro models is absent, leaving just a dual 48-megapixel rear system. More significantly, there is no space for the TrueDepth sensor array required for Face ID, meaning the iPhone Ultra will rely on a side-button Touch ID module instead.Under the hood, the iPhone Ultra is expected to feature Apple's A20 chip paired with 12GB of RAM. Storage options are said to include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Battery capacity is reportedly in the 5,400mAh to 5,800mAh range, which would put it among the largest ever in an iPhone despite its slim dimensions. The scale of Apple's production ambitions for the iPhone Ultra has already been tempered by manufacturing realities. Kuo initially indicated Apple placed orders for 15 to 20 million total foldable iPhones, though he noted demand would likely be limited due to the device's cost. By December, Kuo warned that early-stage yield and ramp-up challenges could mean smooth shipments may not occur until 2027, with potential shortages lasting through at least the end of 2026.The high asking price is expected to be a further constraint on volume: IDC projects the device will capture over 22% unit share of the foldables market in its first year, but that market remains a niche segment overall. The iPhone Air's underwhelming sales performance, with Kuo reporting suppliers cut production capacity by more than 80% after demand fell short of expectations, may serve as a cautionary tale for premium iPhone form-factor experiments.
Benjamin and Chance analyze the form factor of the iPhone Fold with dummy units start surfacing, and investigate why so many of Apple's Macs are severely backordered right now. Also, NASA takes the iPhone into space, Aqara launches the first thermostat with support for HomeKit's new Adaptive Temperature feature, and Chance is mad at the MLB app. And in Happy Hour Plus, Benjamin and Chance talk about some of the good shows they've been watching on TV recently. NASA photo art002e009057, 4 April 2026 Published 6 April 2026 e549 with Andy, Michael and Michael – boldly go into a deep set of space discussions featuring Artemis II, ways to keep track of the historic flight, COTS software and hardware aboard the spacecraft, Bernie Sanders conversation with Claude, TU Wien's mini QR code and a whole lot more! Andy, Michael and Michael boldly go into a deep set of space discussions focusing on the launch of Artemis II. Mission Control starts off with the Artemis II Tracker built by Jakob Rosin for Jakob Rosin, and as he says, every other space nerd who stayed up for launch night. The tracker is a fantastic assembly of data related to the mission, and is well worth bookmarking to keep up to speed on the progress of the astronauts as they approach the Moon and make their return journey to Earth. Andy, Michael and Michael take a look at an article describing how COTS (commercial, off the shelf) technology are used in space missions, and the steps needed to ensure such technologies are appropriate for the mission. It is no surprise that iPhone use aboard Artemis II caught the co-hosts' attention, and after recording the episode, they found even more insight on how the iPhone 17 Pro Max was cleared for use. Another COTS technology used aboard the spacecraft was email – and also needed some glitches to be resolved. Other interesting stories came from the Gizmodo article, such as the pre-launch card game which continues until the mission commander loses, and the challenges with the Universal Waste Management System that were initially resolved in Earth orbit, through another issue surfaced later in the voyage with the vent line. At time of this writing, all systems to go with the Universal Waste Management System were rated as ‘go'. The Moon plush named Rise, which acts as a zero gravity indicator, was designed by a second grader named Lucas Ye. In the non-space portion of the episode, the team discusses browsergate, Bernie Sanders' conversation with Claude and a mini QR code from the TU Wein that could help store up to 2TB of data on an A4 sized page! Wrapping up the episode, Andy shares his contact information through his aggregation site of andypiper.me Do you think that the orange color of the iPhone 17 Pro Max matched the uniform color of the Artemis crew? Have you placed your order for a copy of Rise? Have your bots
On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we talk through everything the iPhone 18 Pro will feature, according to the latest rumors. Following last year's major redesign, the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature a very similar design to their predecessors. There is expected to be a smaller Dynamic Island, with Face ID's flood illuminator component moved under the screen to reduce the cutout's size. It is rumored to be approximately 35% narrower than the iPhone 17 Pro's, shrinking from around 20.7mm to 13.5mm. The Pro Max will be slightly thicker than its predecessor, rising to around 8.8mm and over 240 grams to accommodate a larger battery of 5,100 to 5,200 mAh, up from the iPhone 17 Pro Max's 5,088 mAh.The rear will see a slight design shift as well. Apple is reportedly dropping the two-tone look found on iPhone 17 Pro models in favor of a more seamless aesthetic, with improved alignment between the Ceramic Shield back glass and the aluminum frame. The devices are also expected to come in a special red color. The camera system will undergo more substantial changes. Both Pro models' main 48-megapixel Fusion camera are rumored to feature variable aperture, which would allow users to control the lens opening to manage light intake and depth of field. The aperture would function similarly to a DSLR camera, giving photographers greater control over focus sharpness and background blur in different lighting conditions. Additionally, Samsung is developing a new three-layer sensor for the iPhone 18 Pro, designed to reduce noise, improve dynamic range, and enhance camera responsiveness compared to Sony's current sensors. The Camera Control button is also getting a simplification. Rather than supporting both capacitive touch gestures and pressure sensing as on the iPhone 17, the iPhone 18 will rely on pressure sensing alone, reducing manufacturing complexity and the cost of repairs, while improving ease of use. The A20 Pro chip will mark Apple's debut of a 2-nanometer processor, with a reportedly 15% speed increase and about 30% better power efficiency compared to the A19 Pro. The chip will use TSMC's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Moduletechnology, integrating RAM directly onto the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine rather than mounting it separately, which should improve performance and battery life while reducing the physical footprint of the chip. The iPhone 18 Pro models will also feature Apple's C2 modem, which is expected to bring faster speeds, improved power efficiency, and support for mmWave 5G in the United States, a capability absent from the C1 and C1X modems used in earlier iPhones. Other upgrades include Apple's N2 wireless chip and 5G satellite internet. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2026, with the standard iPhone 18 and the lower-end iPhone 18e following in spring 2027. A foldable iPhone is also expected to debut alongside the Pro models in the fall.

Michael Hansen unboxes, sets up, and shares his first hands-on impressions of the iPhone 17E, Apple's new budget iPhone starting at $599. He outlines the phone's place in the iPhone 17 lineup, describes the included case and packaging, and walks through the hardware design, including the 6.1-inch display, USB-C port, Action button, MagSafe support, and single camera system. He compares the 17E to his personal iPhone 17 Pro Max, focusing especially on speaker sound, VoiceOver performance, keyboard click volume, and general usability for blind users. He also notes the absence of certain higher-end features such as precision finding support and the camera control button, while emphasizing the phone's value and practical appeal for most buyers. The episode also includes brief setup impressions, an accidental drop test that highlights the phone's durability with Ceramic Shield 2 and case protection, and an invitation for listeners to submit questions for a future written review on AppleVis.TranscriptDisclaimer: This transcript was generated by AI Note Taker – VoicePen, an AI-powered transcription app. It is not edited or formatted, and it may not accurately capture the speakers' names, voices, or content.Michael: Hello, AppleVis friends. This is Michael Hansen. Thanks so much for joining me. I hope that today finds you well wherever you are. In this podcast, I'm going to be unboxing, setting up, and giving my initial first hands-on impressions of the all-new iPhone 17E. The iPhone 17E is Apple's new budget iPhone. It starts at 599 US dollars. For that price, you get an A19 series processor. You get 256 gigabytes of storage. You get MagSafe charging up to 15 watts. You get a phone with a 6.1 inch display. You get a whole lot more. And all of it, again, for the same starting price of $599 as last year. Looking at it kind of in terms of the other iPhone 17 models, we, of course, we have our iPhone 17E, which is kind of the entry level. the the basic iphone at 599 us dollars you have your iphone 17 which is 200 more at 7.99 you have your iphone air at 9.99 your iphone 17 pro at 10.99 and you have an iphone 17 pro max at 11.99 Now, my personal device is an iPhone 17 Pro Max. I like big phones. I like big batteries. And so... It's not lost on me that the phone that we're looking at here is half the price of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. And last year I reviewed the iPhone 16E and I really had a blast with it. Battery life was really good. Speakers were really good. It did not have MagSafe, which of course this year's model does. Apple has corrected that. It also does not have the precision finding support. So for precision finding for your air tags and things like that. And I don't think this year's model does either from what I was able to see. And it doesn't look like this one has dual frequency GPS. Whether or not that is important to you is totally a personal thing. Just giving you information here so you kind of know what's going on. But in many other ways, I really, really, really liked the iPhone 16E. And so I kind of am going into this review with some expectations. I'm expecting and thinking that the iPhone 17E is going to be a year's newer iPhone 16E with MagSafe and a newer processor. And so I'm really excited about this to kind of see where this goes, because I think this and the lower cost iPhone is going to be what a majority of people are probably going to want to buy. So as much as I like my big, super big…
