Principia CrossFit's take on fitness and health.
In today’s podcast I speak with Dr. Rostenberg from Red Mountain Natural Medicine about health and wellness. We discuss the importance of finding the why behind what people want so that we can best approach the individualized service needed. How the health industry needs to shift perspective towards function of the body, rather than avoiding death. We get a little nerdy into the body’s nerve chokepoints that are not only limiting performance, but causing chronic problems. We also work through how Principia combined with Dr. Rostenberg’s practice can lead to faster and longer-term results for chronic pain. We get into the psoas and piriformis muscles that are potential problem areas for many of the low back and lower extremity issues. Then we get into foot problems, which is something that I have been a little more obsessed with lately. Super fascinating. Finally got this uploaded!Jason has been with us for a long time and he understands better than most people in this world that health care is done in the gym. Jason's journey has had many ups and downs. He got to a point where chiropractic visits were becoming FAR too frequent. Slipped ribs weekly, back pain frequently. Now he spends very little time, if any at his chiropractor's office. We assessed flexibility, mobility, and then structural balance. We found pretty significant issues with structural imbalance which was lending to his symptoms and well rounded CrossFit programming was not going to serve those asymmetries. He needed to do what was right for him as an individual. He showed mental toughness in CrossFit. That isn't continuing to grind despite discomfort... This is making the CHOICE that leaving the "fun" thing to work on yourself and bring some balance back to your body. How important is it/What is the biggest difference that this will make?3. What does the finished product look/feel like?4. What is the success criteria/What has to be true when finished?5. What is the best result if you do take action? 6. What is the worst result if you do not take action?Remember. This is effective if you workshop through this a few times to make sure that your response is in depth.
