In this episode, I talk about what compliance to societal rules might cost us in the long run, and explain how to start living life on your own terms. In a sense, one must regress to progress, looking at what ways we've learned to comply blindly, and exploring how we might want to take on new behaviors and new ways of living in alignment with our authentic selves. Rewriting our story can help us to fill in the blanks on what we've experienced in our lives: the key players, the lessons learned along the way, and also the healing that might need to come about as we shift our narrative from victim to victor. In this episode, I share elements of my own story, and how I have started to reclaim it. In doing so, I'm recognizing patterns, new ways of becoming, and offering more of my authentic self to the world. In reclaiming my story, I become my life's narrator, witnessing my own becoming around what I choose to manifest forth. Parts work is a modality of therapy or self work that includes working with parts and ego states that exist within ourselves. It stems from Gestalt therapy, which uses role playing to aid in the resolution of past conflicts or conflicts within ourselves affecting us in present day. In this podcast, I talk about parts work as a way to heal inner conflict, as we often have opposing parts that can play against one another, causing us to struggle and be indecisive. The important thing to remember about parts work is that all of the parts within us believe that they are acting in our own self interest, so by hearing these parts out, and channeling them, we can gain a better understanding of how they look, feel, and what they believe we need. We can also explore the polarities within us (their opposite part) and reconcile, mend fences, and gain some resolve within ourselves. *Correction: The ocean covers 71% of the earth's surface! What does it mean to ground yourself? To ground yourself is to help you refocus your energy on what is happening in the moment and create more space for yourself energetically, creating connection in your mind and body. During a time of groundlessness, like the pandemic we are currently facing, it's even more important to engage in grounding exercises to help dispel unwanted anxiety and stress, and also keep you mentally and physically healthy. In this episode of Radical Choices, I talk about ways to apply the mind, body, and spirit framework to explore how you can ground yourself, as well as my own personal experience engaging in these exercises. In applying these grounding techniques, you can operate with more faith, ease, and clarity to help you acclimate to your new normal, helping you create more mastery of who you are and what you can control. Our shadows are those parts of us that come about because, as children, we needed to change our behaviors in order to be loved and accepted. Shadow work involves facing those parts of ourselves that we generally ignore, reject, deny, or hate, and we learn to heal, and integrate these parts into a greater awareness and expanded version of ourselves. One of the most powerful things we can do as humans in relationship with the world is to understand that the universe will continue bringing about situations that force us to notice our shadows so that we can eventually heal them. Until that happens, we'll find ourselves facing situations that bring it up again and again, until we do something about it. Tune in to learn more about my shadows, work, and some of the power I've been able to wield upon facing, healing, and integrating my shadow parts. Loneliness is one of the scariest human experiences we can have - feeling isolated from the world and others. When we choose to escape loneliness, we can prolong the experience tenfold, and lose sight of what it's meant to teach us. In this episode of Radical Choices, I talk about my own experience with loneliness and how I've used it to learn more about myself, unlocking truth, clarity, and even joy. What is the role that perfectionism can have in our lives? How can it keep us playing small? In this episode of Radical Choices, I teach you how to connect with and become aware of your inner child. We were all once children, and still have that child dwelling within us. But most adults are quite unaware of this. And this lack of conscious relatedness to our own inner child is precisely where so many behavioral, emotional and relationship difficulties stem from. Once you can connect with your inner child, identify and fulfill their needs, and heal and integrate any wounded parts within you, you can shift from an injured child to a more empowered adult. In doing so, you can bring your inner child along with you (including all of their creative, inspiring, and powerful attributes) as you author the life you were meant to live. Tune in to learn more about how you can make radical choices to change your life, learn some lessons as you navigate your own transitions, and create the life that you want for yourself, shifting from victim to survivor to creator. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/elisa-ramos/message
