SFU Made: Ready for Everything dives in to all aspects of student-athlete development and academic services at the collegiate level. The podcast will showcase the expertise of many different professionals in the field. All hosted by two passionate leaders in collegiate athletics who are dedicated to enhancing the overall collegiate student-athlete experiences, John Krimmel (Associate Athletics Director for Leadership and Student-Athlete Development) and Sarah Ross (Associate Director for Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services).
Sarah and John welcome Shannon Corbett, Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services back to the show to wrap up the 2020 year. The whole staff will reflect on the year by highlighting their top four moments. Moments will encompass achievements in student-athlete development and academics as well. As crazy as this year turned out to be, the achievements of the SFU student-athletes will leave you hard-pressed to believe all this occurred amidst a pandemic!
John and Sarah have the chance to talk with Northeast Conference Commissioner, Noreen Morris! Commissioner Morris has been leading the way at the NEC for the past 11 years and making tremendous impacts with each initiative that is rolled out. The conversation starts with Noreen taking listeners on her professional journey from selling long distance phone packages right out of college, to holding the top position in the Northeast Conference. While speaking on her journey, listeners also hear Commissioner Morris' perspective on women empowerment in collegiate athletics. *Spoiler Alert* she has done amazing work paving the path for women in this field!The conversation wraps up with a discussion on some hot topics including COVID-19 and racial injustice surround Black and Indigenous people of color in our country. This episode, recorded for airing on June 15th 2020, includes John and Sarah's discussion with current SFU Men's Basketball player - Ty Stewart, Head Men's Basketball Coach - Rob Krimmel, and Head Women's Basketball Coach - Keila Whittington.
