Valters Žeižis is an oceanographer from Riga, Latvia. Since childhood, Valters has been inspired by tales of explorers and the maps that symbolize their travels. Mapping was a required skill and key source of information throughout his study of geography, geology, and geomatics. He began officially mapping in GIS about ten years ago, but he fondly recalls the abstract and imaginary maps he dreamed up as a kid and likes to think his mapping truly began then. As far as hobbyist remote sensing goes, Sergio Volkmer is an expert. Though trained as a geologist, Sergio has spent the bulk of his career as an architect. But his passion for earth science and remote sensing never died. Listen in to Sergio's intriguing journey as a remote sensing hobbyist and for ticks and tips on the utilisation of high resolution multispectral analysis for minerals typing and environmental monitoring.Links for Sergio's work:Soar Platform ProfileTwitterLinkedInUMapFor more information about Soar please visit:soar.earthSoar Corporate Site
You don't need to be an rich old dude to have fun and map on Soar. Join the Soar Cast was we interview Australian mapping prodigy, Aiden Holding of Perth, Western Australia. Aiden has an interesting story, he wanted to get into mapping with a his DJI Spark but was brushed off by the big mapping companies. When got the invitation to use Soar's drone mapping app, The Drone Mosaicing Toolset (in beta status) he said, "heck yes!". At 14yrs young, there's virtually nothing Aiden's not willing to map using Soar's Drone Mosaicing Toolset. To view Aidens profile on Soar click below:https://soar.earth/profile/0x5fd3953e5d2363ceb3a2e335bcd501df13cc6a22www.soar.earth
Satellites capture more electromagnetic energy than is visible to the naked eye. Advanced processing techniques as described by our guest, Jose Manuel Lattus, explore and exploit the both ultra-violet and infra-red energy for the identification of minerals and highly variable environmental conditions.
Nathan Lu of Long Beach, California has the distinction of being Soar's most prolific image uploader. And while he's young compared to the average mid-40's dronnie, Nathan has flown everthing with four props that he can get his hands on. Starting with El Cheapo 'toy bin' level drones to smart GPS drones and on to FPVs, there's nothing Nathan isn't willing to have a go with.Whether young or old, you'll love Nathan's enthusiasm for drones and his frank and forthright review of the Contixo F24 Pro
Two of Australia's premeire agricultural drone service providers, Stratus Imaging & Stevtech have partnered to `advanced crop management using Taranis Ag's AI-powered high resolution crop management system. While traditional multispectral images have served the industry well, Taranis ag has implemented a game changing system to increase ground resolution to 0.03m to facilitate insect identification, plant disease, and initial emergence of new crop growth. All while rapidly increasing the acquisition time.
Drones are helping to develop niches in all walks of business. Rich Charpentier of RLC Design in Flagstaff, Arizona has traveled many roads in his career. Quite literally as after winding down a career in network and communications infrastructure, Rich hit the road in an Airstream trailer to travel and vlog before it was a thing. The use of a drone to compliment his videography was fundamental in the development of construction progression reporting for companies throughout the sunshine state. Tune in for insight on how developing your videography, mapping skills, and client deliverables can translate to providing competitive and high value services.
We are joining Aaron Kingaman of Lucint Systems of Portland, Oregon. Lucint provides modular multispectral mapping cameras for use on both drones and manned aircraft. In addition to that Lucint provides a variety of services, notably orthorectification, camera calibration, and builds custom camera arrays to suit the agricultural, municipal power, and surveying industries.
Soar is joined by Tayo Akiwumi of Spacevee, specialists at improving image visualisation issues caused by smoke, haze, and airborne particulates. Tayo has a compelling story, how his love of the earth's history and deep desire to utilise remote sensing technology for identifying possible archaeological sites has led to the development of new technology to improve image visualisation and utilisation through haze removal, limiting the effects of smoke and pollution on satellite images, and for textural improvement in featureless images. For more info: SpaceVeeLaunch Soar!
What is a drone orthomosaic? How are they created? Why are they so large and what can I do with them?
