John began his career selling spices for McCormick & Co. before spending the remainder of his career in the United States Secret Service, where he was assigned to protect presidents and presidential candidates. He also spent six weeks training the bodyguards of the King of Saudi Arabia. John is a loyal Crusader alumnus who has endowed an award given annually to a head J.V. or assistant varsity coach that recognizes their unsung commitments to our student-athletes.
Our guest on this edition of St. Paul’s Stories is Adam Holofcener, St. Paul’s class of 2004. Adam is an attorney and musician in Baltimore. Adam’s musical interests include composing, performing and sound engineering; as a lawyer, he is the Executive Director of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, where he advises artists on the intricacies of copyright law and protection of their intellectual property. Adam teaches a class on copyright and entertainment law at the University of Maryland. He is interviewed by Charley Mitchell, St. Paul’s Director of Alumni Relations.

Our guests for this episode of “St. Paul’s Stories” are Mitch Gordon, St. Paul’s Class of 2016; and Alex Rode, St. Paul’s Class of 2017. They are interviewed by Charley Mitchell, Director of Alumni Relations at St. Paul’s. Mitch and Alex are members of the University of Virginia Men’s Lacrosse Team, which in May won the NCAA Division I national championship by defeating Yale University. Mitch plays attack on the team. Alex was the starting goalkeeper for most of the season and was chosen Most Valuable Player of the championship tournament. In this episode, Charley talks with these two young Crusaders about their transition from high school to college lacrosse, their run to the championship and how they balance academics and athletics.
