Welcome to the Tailrace Conversations Podcast. We believe that people are seeking more in life. Yet if we don’t find it, we become tired, disillusioned and restless. BUT, when people discover love and truth, they come alive and face life in a different kind of way.

Michael and Kate joined us to talk about how their creative talents help them to contribute to making a better world. They share their love and desire for creating within team environments rather than on their own. In this series we unpack how each one of us is uniquely wired, gifted and has a unique purpose on this planet for the common good. This week we have a chat to Mary Hawley. Mary is a musician, an amazing cook and hosted during COVID a fun cooking show. She works with NOSS, an organization committed to providing community activities for people with disabilities. She also is actively engaged in training and equipping people with disabilities for the work force. This week we chat with her about how she's wired, how she uses her gifts in the workplace and the beauty which unfolds. Am I Humble Enough To Say?“And Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” What do I owe God? What debt do I have to God? When I started from a place of remembering what I owe God it helps me to forgive others. When I start from this place of remembering my debts it helps me to be reflective, to be grateful and to give grace. We join Carli Tarrant as she shares some of her reflections of what happens when she prays this particular part of the Lord's Prayer. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
“Give us today our daily bread” Jesus dares us to ask God for help with our needs, both material and personal. Can we really trust God to help and if so, what's the key? Everything is ok until you hit rock bottom and then you really learn what that verse is and what it means to pray it. There is a real depth and richness to faith when we experience God in tough times. But when we have seasons of more resource, there is a blessing that come from living generously too. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
This week Sharon is joined on zoom by Jenni Chacko where they discuss the section of the Lords Prayer where it says, “Your Kingdom Come on earth as it is in Heaven”. Jenni shares how she has tried to live out these verses and they discuss committing to lordship and submitting to Gods will in all areas of life including work and family. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
In the Lords Prayer, Jesus instructs us to say "hallowed be your name" when we pray, but what does this actually mean? This week we're joined by 2 generations of people to discuss what sacred prayer means to them. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
“Our father in heaven” When we pray, there is so much more to saying “Dear God” than what we immediately see. Jesus draws our attention to this because the subtle secret is powerful. Holly shared about how the name of God reflects the character God. This enables us to approach God like we would a perfect father, one whom we have access to who only responds with kindness and goodness. She shared a great story about how just as you go to your Dad to help with your car, she has gone to God and he has always seems to meet her needs. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
Jesus invited us to pray in an intimate way which was so countercultural. This invitation helps us to approach God with right motives. This week we're joined by David who shares about how developing a prayer life sustains him and gives him energy. It also makes him a more loving individual as he is more in tune with God. David Barker shared an amazing story of driving home one night and stopping to help a man bleeding in a phone booth. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
This week we're joined by Michael Harvey who shares his thoughts on the topic of "secret generosity". Generosity is a celebrated characteristic in our society. Jesus not only urged us to be generous; but to do so quietly. Why did he care about if we did it publicly or privately? Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
Our world is simultaneously shrinking as we become more global, and yet divisive on a range of political issues. This week we're joined by Andrew Roe and ask the question - "How can we possibly co-exist with people so different than us? Is it really possible to love people that are opposed us?" Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
This week Jono and Sharon are joined by Selina. One of Jesus most famous statements was when he said to “offer the other cheek”. This is in direct contrast to the way most people live which is more aligned with an attitude of an “eye for an eye”. Is it really possible to live a life without retaliation? And is that even healthy? Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
Spin doctor. Half truths. Fake news. Jesus invites us to speak plain and simple. Is it really as profound as that? This week Jono & Sharon are joined by Kate O'Neill. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au
This week Jono & Sharon are joined by Erica and discuss how Jesus urges us to not allow trivial or worldly things be the source of relationship breakdown. If you are divorced or feel uncomfortable with this topic; then please understand that we are for you. Our intention is to discover what healthy relationships look like and grow in that direction. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tailracecommunity Website: https://www.tailracecommunitychurch.com.au

This week we explore Jesus' teaching on how we are to see one another and how we to respond when we see each other in a way that doesn't allow us to see the face of God in each other. He got pretty tough and put some tight boundaries on what it means to love. Watch the video the team discuss here “What Our Kids See” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBo-G8QRpEo **This session we will be tackling the whole issue of pornography and it is not a session we advise children to watch or teenagers unless there is a home conversation to go with it.
