We are kicking off a Dating Series! This series was inspired by the "Dateable" series done by the Porch in Texas. SERMON NOTES/HIGHLIGHTS What does the bible have to say about dating? Actually, not a lot. Although the Bible doesn't mention dating, it DOES have a lot to say about the topic of romance, marriage, sex, evaluation, decision making. Dating is the path that leads to marriage. How you date matters and who you date matters because aside from deciding to follow Jesus, the most important decision you'll make is who your spouse will be. In this message, we go through a checklist of priorities that will tell you if you are in fact, dateable. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support
Hosted by Inessa Utayev. NOTES: Be careful what you allow to come through your headphones. Music is the only element on the planet that was not made on the planet. Music is the only thing in the earth that wasn't made in the earth. Music was made in heaven. Music wasn't made here. It was made on a different level, a different plane. And so it operates on a different plane. GOD MADE MUSIC! Why? God gave it ONE STRATEGIC DESIGN. Music was made for worship. Music is always about worship, the only thing that changes is the content and what you worship. Whatever the lyrics say, is what you worship. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support
What is the cost of following Christ? Sermon by Inessa Utayev. The fight-or-flight response (also known as the acute stress response), refers to a physiological reaction that occurs when we are in the presence of something that is mentally or physically terrifying. There are situations that if we don't just do what we're supposed to do, we'll regret it. Revelation 21:8 When you are alone with God -- just you, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit, do you feel peace about your own life? Let's take a look at how Jesus taught. Passages discussed: Luke 8:4 and Luke 14:25-35. How many of us are the GOOD soil? In Luke 14:28 Jesus tells us that following him is like building a tower. Don't you first sit down and think if you have enough, if you want to spend enough, and if you want to give away all you have in order to build this thing? Because otherwise you're going to build a tower halfway and realize you cant complete it. It's foolish. And the same way Jesus is telling us: I'm gonna tell you about the cost of following me ahead of time, because I don't want you quitting halfway. Are you going to fight with Jesus when the going gets tough, or are you going to take flight? Fight, or flight? Count the cost. You will never regret being all in with Jesus. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support

Sermon by David Utayev. SERMON NOTES: LIFE'S TRANSITIONS: SPRING: Growing SUMMER: Grown Just as God is: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so we are: Spiritual, Physical, and Mentally Alive (body, spirit, soul); “Sometimes God brings times of transition to create transformation” Lynn Cowell ROMANS 12:2 TRANSFORM YOUR THOUGHTS IN ORDER TO TRANSFORM YOUR CHARACTER Let God transform you into a NEW PERSON by changing the way YOU THINK. Joshua was a man who God took through a transition and then transformation. Joshua 1 - “THE LORD SPOKE TO JOSHUA” When the Lord speaks in the season of transition and we act on that, a transformation is coming. God is still in the business of TRANSFORMATION. Plans to prosper you and NOT TO HARM YOU. When you're going through your transition, know that God has the best intentions for you. Jeremiah 29:11 Joshua's job consisted of leading more than 2 million people into a strange new land and conquering it. The Lord promised that He would be with him. Joshua's life and season of transition was directed by God. We need to be directed by God. "Direct" has a beautiful meaning. It means to: control the operations of So when we say, "GOD DIRECT MY LIFE," we're saying "AIM ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, CONTROL THE OPERATIONS OF MY LIFE, MANAGE MY LIFE". In your season of transition to transformation, God says to you what He said to Joshua: "be strong and courageous" and, "be very strong and courageous." Courageous means to not be deterred by. Do not lean on your own understanding but in all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Our flesh will bring us down, but the Spirit will raise us up. That is why we have to died to the flesh, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. When we do that, we are able to conquer the transition and become transformed in our minds in order to have a new character that will change the world. It is all through trusting in God. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support
Sermon by Inessa Utayev SERMON NOTES: The world teaches us that first we live and then we die. But Jesus said, only when we die, will life begin. The ways of the world will always contradict the ways and Word of God. (Luke 9:23) “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Jesus gives us three requirements for anyone who wants to follow Him. Deny himself. Take up his cross daily. Follow me. In Roman times, carrying a cross always led to death on that cross. If someone took up his cross, he never came back. It was a one-way journey. Jesus parallels this to say that following Him is a commitment; a one way journey, and there is no turning back. Why do we have to take up our cross? The instrument of death and torture? Didn't Jesus take on the cross for us? (Luke 9:24-25) 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? (or in other words, his soul.) We must follow Jesus this way (by taking up our cross) because it is the only way that we will ever find life. It sounds strange to say, “you will never live until you die,” but that's the truth because resurrection only happens to dead people. The living don't need it. The tricky part about the Christian life is that before you can experience Christ's resurrection power and new life, you have to die to yourself. In order for you to live, you have to die. What does it mean to die? (Romans 8:5-14) Before you can experience Christ's resurrection power in your life, you first have to die to yourself. Die to your passions. Die to your pride. Die to your lusts, die to your addictions, die to your worldly pursuits. So many people forget about the first two things Jesus said: he said, deny yourself, take up your cross DAILY, and then, follow me. We skip to step three and say, Lord I'm just going to follow you without denying myself or picking up my cross. YOU CAN'T FOLLOW JESUS WITHOUT DYING FIRST. LIFE doesn't stop at death. IT STARTS AT DEATH! God's goal is not to just get you to the cross and leave you there. God has no desire to keep you dead. When we surrender to Him, when we pick up our crosses, every single day, God comes and infuses us with His resurrection power, authority and life. The call of God requires you to lay your life down --- if it's any less than that, if it doesn't cost you everything, it's not from God. It's time to fully surrender to Jesus. It's time to deny ourselves, and it's time to pick up the cross. Give Him your whole self. Your whole life. Place it all on the altar and watch fire begin to fall. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support
Sermon by Inessa Utayev SERMON NOTES: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (Matthew 5:8) 1. Everyone has a desire to see God. 2. The Bible tells us that we see God when our hearts are pure. 3. How do we keep our hearts pure? ---- Jesus is concerned with the heart. He told the Pharisees in Mathew 23:25-27 that they're focusing on the wrong thing: they are obsessed with the outside and making sure everything looks perfect, but it's the inside that matters! It's the heart! “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure; no one can tame it." (Jeremiah 17:9). Jeremiah says that asking someone to change their heart is like asking a leopard to change it's spots. They can't do it alone. Nevertheless, God says, "I CAN DO IT. I CAN GET IN THERE. I'M THE HEART SURGEON." God will do his part, if we do ours. We can't change our hearts by ourselves, but we can change our actions. When we begin to change our actions, God will change our hearts. We can change our actions through our five senses: 1. sight 2. smell 3. sound/hearing 4. taste 5. touch If we change our actions, God will change our hearts, but it starts with surrender. When you truly surrender your heart before God, He gives us a brand new heart. (Ezekiel 36:26) There is nothing missing, nothing tainted, and nothing dirty with the heart that God gives. It is brand new. It is pure. And it can see God. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/overflow-show/support
