The story of two Americas is in our history and in our present. But more importantly, it is found in who I am and who you are. How the rest of the story goes lies in the choice each one of us makes. After almost a year of a pandemic, a broken society and the threat of authoritarianism, the courage to stand for freedom is more and more relevant and urgent in the days ahead.

2021 has begun and with it a choice to make. You, I, each of us stand at a crossroads of truth. Now more than ever, we must choose to shine that light of truth to the whole world. Because in the end those who have the courage to shine the light of truth will win.

2020: In the middle of a pandemic, hurricanes, uprisings and distress of nations, earthquakes, threats of revolution on the streets, world leaders, powers of history and elites calling for a global reset, doomsday clocks and all. Two Scenarios are given. One takes choice. The other gives choice. Liberty at all costs. Truth above all. Courage to stay the course.

The fabric of our liberty has never been so fragile. The global stage is set. We are now standing on a precipice that leads the American experiment into a veritable no man’s land.

The conversation on the geopolitical endgame continues. The global pandemic and the climate crisis along with the social cries for social justice and economic solidarity have lead to the reality of a complete and inevitable global reset. But at what cost? This is why we must dig deeper and continue to question with boldness because what is really on the line is our liberty and freedom.

Welcome to the new age of humanity. The events transpiring in our world from the early part of 2020 to now are an indication of a global shift that is now creating a unique opportunity for what is now being called, the great reset. What does this mean for the post-pandemic world and for each of us as free individuals? The fight is no longer about our vote, our party affiliation, or even our country. The fight has to do with our very soul, who I am and who you are and in what we really believe in.

Oppression. suffering. Hatred. Destruction. We see it every day. And more than we ever have before. Looking into the face of evil forces us to look in the mirror at ourselves. Love, life, liberty - these are the principles that bind us and that define our very existence. There are only two ways to answer evil when we see it. Indifference or Action. Life begets life. Love begets love. Hope begets hope. When we become what we say we are for someone else, this is when hearts are reached and lives are truly changed.

We are one race of many colors, of many tongues and many voices. One in blood, of many in thought, made equal by creation, designed for the light, fallen but redeemed, neighbors all, travelers all, each seeking, struggling and striving for that place across the deep river, beyond the Jordan.

It’s been said that the only thing we learn from history is that men never learn from history. We now stand on a precipice of that history. Humanity has stood over its edges before, but like the empires of the past, are we destined to repeat their fate?

The moral framework of liberty is based not on what men dictate, but on what time-honored principles, which are self-evident truths, are founded on. Where liberty begins and ends lies in the moral law that is given by one creator. Because if we are all created equal only the creator can qualify that truth. Each of us is the evidence of the existence of this law. Without this law we cannot have liberty. With the world on the brink, now, more than ever we need that law of liberty to anchor us down and to guide us to the ultimate world made new.

Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one? Or do the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many? Life cannot be life without liberty. Nor can liberty give way to indifference towards our fellow man. We can argue all we want about solutions, but any solution that does not solve the problem of human depravity and suffering is no solution at all. Fear of the unknown or of what we do not understand always leads to one place - tyranny. If tyranny is ever suggested, whether soft or direct, for the sake of our security and the sake of the global common good then it must always be based in the moral fabric of individual worth and individual liberty. What we end up choosing ultimately determines our destiny.

Do we refuse to accept that humanity cannot rise above the darkness? Do we refuse to accept that we cannot change? Do we refuse to accept that our nature is just a product of mere chance? The truth of us isn't found in the skepticism of cynicism. It is found in the truth of promise. The promise of restoration. The promise that dares us to stand, dares us to rise and dares us to finally overcome.

What a different world it is. Instead of the streets and churches being full of believers commemorating, singing, praying, walking in parades of celebration, we will find the streets and churches empty this week. It’s not how the world envisioned spending this time. But here we are. But has the light been extinguished? Has hope been burned out? There will be prayers offered by many in their living rooms. Families will sing songs around their pianos or coffee tables. The story will be read from the countless lips of children, mothers, fathers, grandparents and loved ones. The ancient words of the scriptures will not fall on deaf ears. And the homes in each town, community, city, state and country will be as candles keeping the light ablaze. And the light will shine on. It will. That is the promise. That is the boldness of hope.

When we suffer together, we come together. This has always been a part of the human experience. But when we emerge from crisis and adversity, we often return to a normalcy that gives way to complacency. In the midst of an unprecedented global crisis such as this we must ask, what comes next? What do we look forward to? Is it more of the same that inevitably leads to nothing or does our story end in an end to all of this and to a new beginning. This interruption to our lives here serves as a wake up call to look beyond this world to a new one. It's my choice and your choice to make.

We are in the middle of it. Hour by hour and day by day, we watch the world changing. It's no movie. It's real. We want an end to it. Do we come out of this? Can we dream or imagine all of this away? It comes down to what we really believe. Because intellect and raw numbers aren't enough to really satisfy the human soul. Looking for the truth is an existential quest. In the end, it isn't an imagining that will free us all of this. Ultimately, the answer lies in our courage and willingness to do one thing: To Believe.

We face unprecedented times. Our world is at a stand-still. The obvious question is, where do we go from here? Many offer different solutions while others sink further into real despair. But what does the truth tell us? Is science the answer, or perhaps it is a more robust activism on the part of humanity. What ever the case, we all want the chaos to stop. There is reason to have hope. There is a solution. There is an end to all of this. And the end is, despite our current state of affairs, life. It is a new beginning.

Love. It's the great ideal of poets, singers and story-tellers. We yearn for it, we seek after it, we believe in it. We long for ever after. In the midst of the shadows of our dark world, it's love that allows us to see and be small points of light that can give the world hope. Love begins with choice. It begins with giving each one of us the freedom to choose either for evil or for good. Truth leads us to love and love binds us to the truth. The choice belongs to each one of us to make.

What we think we know and what actually is are two very different things. When we search we must allow the trail of evidence to take us and reveal to us what is actually there, not what we think we know might be there. Confirmation bias can be a dangerous thing because it allows us to make decisions about what we already think we know. Preconceived ideas lead us only to prejudice, not to knowledge or true understanding. We must look at the evidence of things for what they are - a raw and real proof of the truth we seek.

All it takes is a good tag line, a few creative doses of top-of-the-line marketing and you've got a great product to believe in and trust. Or do you? Religion can be like that. Then again, so can science. So many opinions and so many voices. A few seconds on social media, one or two clicks and we're satisfied. It's "good enough for me." That's the magic of online media express. Get it while it's hot, in just a few quick seconds, and that's enough for us to know and be convinced that what we see and hear is true and nothing but the truth. No doubt, when it comes to access to information and the convenience of having it so close, and now with even a simple voice command getting what we want and what we need, then why bother digging deeper. Google and Alexa will do the searching for me. It sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Speak a word, and you've got all the answers you need. Perhaps, this type of express living is exactly what makes us so unsure and even unwilling to believe the unbelievable anymore. Is there anything beyond this world of pain, loss, division, hate and death?

It's in the darkest places of our own stories that we tend to be more tenacious in the questions we ask because we desperately want to know the answers. The biggest issue for many when it comes to the "why" and the "if" of God is when we take an honest look at religion. The historical record is a harsh one and when we uncover these bitter glimpses of religious tradition, it's no wonder it becomes an easy target of critics, skeptics and even faith-based believers. Did religion create God, or is religion that natural by-product of a Creator who is as real as you and me? It's another part of the journey as we listen to the questions of honest inquisitors like self-proclaimed atheist, Bill Maher. So we listen, we inquire and keep on the search.

God is dead. Or is he? There is no denying it. The whole world seems to be crying out for justice to be done. The guilty must get their due. The intolerable need to get what's coming to them. It's a #mytruth culture. And if you or anyone else do not adhere to #yourtruth, then they don't belong. Who get's to decide? Who sets the standard of right and wrong? And if we get to judge others in our cries for justice, on what do we base that truth? It takes courage to ask the question and even more courage to see and find the answer.

If you knew for certain that something in your life or in our scope of reality wasn't what it seemed, wouldn't you want to know what it was? On matters that seem so basic and yet so crucial to understanding ourselves and the world we live in, we are often told, "the science is settled." Truth is worth more than letting someone else decide what the answers of life and of our existence are. You must be the one to decide. And there is one pill from two that we can take; one choice from two that we can make. The blue pill or the red pill. One offers bliss. The other offers the God-honest truth. Which one do you take? Which one leads you to be free?

At one point or another, when we take a step back and really look at what our world looks like in the now, we must ask - Is this the best we can ever hope for from the human race? The loss we see is real, the pain we experience is real. The reckoning of time is right in front of us. Why are we here and where is this all going? The answer is simple.

A conversation begins with a look at the truth of our existence and endeavoring to seek, inquire and search out to find our purpose in today's 21st century world. Once we find it, what do we do with it and where do we and the world at large end up in the future?
