The USS Hornet fought in some of the biggest naval battles in world history, picked up astronauts returning from the first moon landing, and is allegedly one of the most haunted places in America. Three decades ago, this aircraft carrier was sold to a scrap dealer and seemingly destined for destruction until a group of preservationists saved the Hornet and turned it into a floating museum. Since the 1990s, the Hornet has been docked at the former site of Alameda Naval Air Station, but now the museum's management are exploring a move across the Bay to San Francisco.  This episode features interviews with Russell Moore, the museum's Chief Experience Officer and author of the official book on the USS Hornet; and Bruce Douglas, a Navy veteran who served aboard the Hornet half a century ago and currently volunteers as a museum docent. Listen now to hear about USS Hornet history, how the Hornet was saved, and why it might be relocating. Most investors don't blow up because they “didn't know enough.” They blow up because they frame the decision wrong. Lance Roberts & Jonathan Penn break down narrow framing—the behavior where investors judge one investment in isolation (“Why don't I own that?”) instead of evaluating results through the entire portfolio and a long-term plan. When something becomes “hot,” it feels obvious, safe, and inevitable. But return-chasing often ends the same way: buying after a big run, then selling after the first real drawdown. That cycle turns investing into reaction instead of strategy—headlines instead of planning, emotion instead of discipline. 0:00 - INTRO 0:19 - ISM Manufacturing Feed Reflation Narrative 4:15 - Sector Rotations Worth Watching 8:20 - Markets Continue in Rising Trend 13:24 - The Trap of Cahasing Returns 15:58 - The Trouble w Investor Complacency 18:20 - The Flaw in Framing 22:09 - Momentum Drives Price 23:21 - Leverage Unwinding & Volatility 24:42 - It's Silver Profit Taking Time 25:47 - Risk Tolerance vs Risk Capacity 28:03 - A Portfolio is Like a Car 31:12 - The Misconception Between Risk & Volatility 34:23 - Risk is the Destruction of Capital 35:58 - Markets Do Not Compound Returns 37:31 - Would You Rather... 42:33 - Everybody Idolizes Warren Buffett 43:30 - Establish a Discipline 45:52 - Have a Plan - Write it Down 48:51 - E-book Library Hosted by RIA Advisors Chief Investment Strategist, Lance Roberts, CIO, w Senior Investment Advisor, Jonathan Penn, CFP Produced by Brent Clanton, Executive Producer ------- Register for our next Candid Coffee, 2/21/26: https://streamyard.com/watch/Wq3Yvn9ny5GV ------- Watch Today's Full Video on our YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/sKXpfWf8oRs?feature=share ------- Watch our previous show, "Bears Are an Endangered Species," here: https://www.youtube.com/live/NAyXnrquGiQ -------- The latest installment of our new feature, Before the Bell, "Reflation Rotation" is here: https://youtu.be/9f2tn_O1BUc ------- Visit our E-book Library (no library card required!) https://realinvestmentadvice.com/ria-e-guide-library/ -------- SUBSCRIBE to The Real Investment Show here: http://www.youtube.com/c/TheRealInvestmentShow -------- Visit our Site: https://www.realinvestmentadvice.com Contact Us: 1-855-RIA-PLAN -------- Subscribe to SimpleVisor: https://www.simplevisor.com/register-new -------- Connect with us on social: https://twitter.com/RealInvAdvice https://twitter.com/LanceRoberts https://www.facebook.com/RealInvestmentAdvice/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/realinvestmentadvice/ #StockMarket #SectorRotation #RiskManagement #ReflationTrade #PortfolioRebalancing

    Your Daily Prayer Podcast
A Prayer to Recognize Deception before it Leads to Destruction

    Your Daily Prayer Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 2, 2026 6:37 Transcription Available

Deception rarely shows up looking dangerous. More often, it comes quietly—through questions, subtle doubts, and half-truths that feel reasonable in the moment. This devotional takes us back to Genesis 3, where the serpent doesn’t begin with a direct command to sin. He begins with a question that plants uncertainty: Did God really say…? That’s the first crack—inviting Eve to doubt God’s Word and, ultimately, God’s authority. As the conversation unfolds, we see how easily temptation can pull us closer rather than push us away. Instead of fleeing, Eve engages. Instead of ending the conversation, she stays in it. And in that exchange, God’s command becomes blurred. The devotional notes that Eve’s response adds something God didn’t say—introducing confusion about what’s true. That confusion becomes an opening for the enemy to exploit truth with a twist: a half-truth presented as wisdom. The result is devastating—deception leads to disobedience, and disobedience brings consequences that ripple outward. But the devotional doesn’t leave us in despair. It reminds us that we are just as vulnerable to the same pattern: it’s okay to look… it won’t hurt to touch… and eventually, we’re further than we ever intended to go. That’s why the call is not self-confidence, but spiritual vigilance—being rooted in God’s Word so we can recognize lies quickly and respond with truth. Scripture becomes our anchor, and the Holy Spirit helps us discern what’s off before it becomes destructive. And even when we do fall, God’s mercy is still present. The devotional points to the hope woven into Genesis: God makes a way for His people, ultimately through the Savior He promised. Our enemy desires destruction, but Jesus offers life—full, abundant, and freeing. The invitation today is to cling to Christ, soak in Scripture, and ask God for discernment that stops deception at the start. Main Takeaways Deception often begins with subtle doubt: “Did God really say…?” Temptation pulls us closer step by step—engagement becomes compromise. Knowing God’s Word clearly helps us recognize half-truths and shut down lies. We are all vulnerable to deception, so vigilance and humility matter. Even when we fall, God’s forgiveness and salvation through Christ remain our hope. Today’s Bible Verse “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” - Genesis 3:1 NIV Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Help me to be soaked in Your Word, to recall Your Truth so that I can quickly spot the lie… and shut it down with the Truth of Your Word.” You can listen to the full prayer or read the devotional at the links below. The biblical quote “running to and fro” contextually has two meanings. The first meaning is literal: in the last days, people will be trying to escape indignation. Destruction, famine, and horror will be endless upon the earth. The second meaning is figurative: people will be seeking and searching for The Most High and His wisdom, but shall not find it. The 2015 movie The Running Man perfectly depicts both meanings. The United States has a new National Defense Strategy. Unfortunately, that of the Chinese Communist Party is unchanged. According to the document released by the Department of War on January 23rd, China is no longer this country's “most significant strategic competitor.” Even that formulation used by the Biden administration in its 2022 counterpart NDS downplayed the reality that the CCP is our mortal enemy. The Trump administration has decided to prioritize the security of the Western hemisphere, saying unspecified “strength” will deter China and promote “visionary and realistic diplomacy, thereby setting conditions for a balance of power in the Indo-Pacific that allows all [the region's nations] to enjoy a decent peace.”  Unfortunately, the Chinese Communists are not interested in a decent peace. They seek our destruction, including by continuing their penetration and domination of our hemisphere. America needs a war-footing now. This is Frank Gaffney.

They also discuss the purpose and impact of Israel's decision, effective January 1, 2026, to deregister 37 NGOs working in Palestine. MAP, which has worked in Gaza and the West Bank for decades, is one of the organizations deregistered by Israel.  Resources: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) "Israeli ban on aid agencies in Gaza will have ‘catastrophic' consequences, experts say," The Guardian, 12/31/25 Liz Allcock is the former head of humanitarian protection at Medical Aid for Palestinians, an FMEP grantee. John Maytham speaks to Willie Aucamp, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, who says the Kruger is increasingly becoming a “natural disaster nodal point” — sitting at the receiving end of river systems that stretch across several provinces. Aucamp stresses that rebuilding cannot simply replicate what existed before. Instead, future reconstruction must account for harsher climate realities, ensuring visitor safety while protecting the ecological integrity of the park. Afternoon Drive with John Maytham is the late afternoon show on CapeTalk. Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists. A daily highlight is Rapid Fire, just after 5:30pm. CapeTalk fans call in, to stump the presenter with their general knowledge questions. Another firm favourite is the humorous Thursday crossing with award-winning journalist Rebecca Davis, called “Plan B”. Zander Cannon has renewed a lot of faith in single issue comics with Sleep an 8 issue limited series through Image Comics. I've managed to review each episode on my Youtube Channel because the entire story has kept me in suspense. We've gone 7 parts into this story without actually seeing what Jonathan Reason becomes when he goes to sleep. Destruction, Murder, Conspiracy, and all out mystery are what makes this a great Horror story. This small town reminiscent to Zander's remote college town in the middle of Iowa paints a portrait of how things can go silent in a small town when you don't fit and everything is kept a secret. Zander reveals that this final issue will have 3 different art styles as opposed to what we've come to know from the series with its Black, White, and Grey scaled construction with prominent singular Red on particular objects through every page. Zander also gives me a glimpse at life after the end of Sleep and what projects are to come.Written and Artwork by Zander CannonSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-faqs-project-hosted-by-james-grandmaster-faqs-boyce/donations

Carthage, Rome, and Imperial DeclineThe final debate explores the historical destruction of Carthage to illuminate the modern American Empire's troubled trajectory and uncertain future. Germanicus advances a provocative thesis: the United States now more closely resembles Carthage—a wealthy, financialized, multicultural mercantile power relying on paid soldiers and foreign contractors—than the cohesive, destiny-driven Republic of Rome whose citizen-soldiers conquered the known world through shared sacrifice. They observe how historical narratives are invariably shaped by victors, noting that figures from Napoleon to modern filmmakers consistently utilize defeated enemies like Carthage or the Nazis to define national identity and justify present ambitions. A striking reversal emerges from their analysis: Russian propaganda now appropriates Roman symbols of martial virtue, disciplined unity, and civilizational mission, while the United Statesappears increasingly as a "flabby empire of financial usury" potentially facing its own Carthago delenda est moment at the hands of more vigorous rivals. The discussion concludes with a somber warning drawn from Byzantium's fall in 1204, when Crusaders who should have been allies instead sacked the great city: a disunited nation lacking shared vision and collective willingness to sacrifice stands vulnerable to sudden, catastrophic collapse, potentially ending the "American Empire" far sooner than its citizens imagine possible.1450 VIRGIL: DIDO WELCOMES AENEAS TO CARTHAGE

SOVIET SUBJUGATION, FAMINE, AND THE DESTRUCTION OF INDEPENDENCE Colleague Professor Eugene Finkel. Following the empire's collapse, Ukrainians attempted to form independent states (UNR and ZUNR), but these failed due to internal weakness and external aggression from Bolsheviks and Poles. Finkel describes the subsequent Soviet era, highlighting the Holodomor—a purposeful famine engineered by Stalin in the early 1930s to break Ukrainian resistance and extract grain for industrialization, killing millions. This brutality left Ukraine decimated before World War II, where it became a battleground for Hitler and Stalin. The Soviet victory reinforced the myth that controlling Ukraine was essential for Moscow's security and economy. NUMBER 31913 UKRAINE
