My mom joins me again for another episode in which we talk about alcohol, her losing a job where she worked for 43 years, the family that job felt like, finding that family feeling in a new job at 63, vacations we took when I was a kid, and things we enjoyed seeing on those vacations. We discuss my brother, and the divergent paths we've ridden through our lives, as well as discussing my setting her up for a blind date. We also discuss food, things that we enjoy now, and there's some subtle hints on what's going on behind the scenes if you're quick enough to catch them. I always enjoy this time with my mother, and I'm truly blessed as always to have her in my life. I hope you have someone like her in your life as well. Even if they aren't your mother. Even if your mother is awful to be around, I hope you have someone you can look up to like I do her. Yes. You read that right. This episode is about an hour of me answering two questions posed to each of the prior guests on this show who gave me questions in time to record this one. The two questions are: 1. If you didn't know me, what's something you would ask as an ice breaker? 2. Since you do know me, what's something you want me to expand upon. In the outro, I let the listeners know how they can support the show monetarily and help raise funds for a better sound board to make this show expand into different formats and horizons. Back in August, Brian was the last person to sit down with me in the garage at the old house right before we moved out. He had the honor of being the one to take down the Bat Cave sign above the garage door, and we had a wonderful conversation after that which spanned about three hours. We ran the gamut on this session, and in the first part we discuss everything from the zenith of our relationship, God Bless America, banning drugs and guns, politician worship and problems with the system, a mutual love of Falling Down, people getting offended, medical insurance and access, all the way up to The Go Fast and Keanu Reeves. None of these topic headings go the exact way you're thinking. That's what I love about this man. The man is as humble as Keanu is, and that's one of the endearing qualities that makes him so wonderful. His thoughts are so well related that I find myself often stupified at how deep he digs. However, the mixer decided to shit the bed on the last 50 minutes or so of the conversation, so a lot of the great stuff was lost, but we both had an amazing conversation about the way we became parents, and how it works out better for him given the kind of person he was back in the day versus now. Happy Mother's Day, friends. I decided to drop the second episode three days early this month to catch the holiday. In all of the podcasts and episodes I've done, I've never had my mom on, and this year, I decided to remedy that. I wasn't sure what I was going to have going into this one, and mom was very candid and honest about her life. I really gained a new appreciation for her. It was a great discussion with two different generations, and I was gifted a wonderful new perspective on how she handled obstacles in her life, and I realized how short I've fallen in wanting to achieve that attitude. We talked about a host of topics from her career in healthcare, her childhood, the loss of her brother at such a young age, the loss of my father in law, how I wasn't good in school but was in college, how she deals with stress at work, what makes her the most proud about her children, how she found out about and handled the divorce, how she turned her career around and became a nurse, and what makes her happy. She asked me about how I got into acting and I asked her why she always comes to see me in these plays. If you can, call your mother. If you have a toxic relationship with your mother, fuck your mother. But for those who do celebrate it, happy mother's day y'all. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wiwhom/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/wiwhom/support
