Génesis 3:1 “La cual dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios os ha dicho: No comáis de todo árbol del huerto?”.Uno de los mayores conflictos espirituales que vivimos no está afuera, sino aquí, en el oído. No en lo que vemos, sino es lo que oímos. Porque todo lo que gobierna nuestra vida entra primero por una voz. Hay momentos en las que pareciera que la vida entera se convierte en un coro de voces: unas gritan, otras susurran, unas prometen, otras confunden; voces externas que nos dicen que la vida es nuestra, que la identidad está en la apariencia, que la Palabra de Dios es anticuada, que no necesitamos de nadie más; y voces internas que nos aplastan con culpa, que nos dicen que lo que hicimos no tiene perdón, que no vale la pena intentarlo de nuevo, que mejor nos escondamos y dejemos de luchar. Pero ninguna de esas voces viene del cielo. Son voces que buscan una sola cosa: controlar el oído para controlar la vida.Y en medio de este ruido moderno —ruido de redes sociales, ruido de información, ruido de tecnología— hay un mensajero oculto. Un mensajero que nunca se cansa, un mensajero que repite ideas, que moldea pensamiento, que influye emociones y que fácilmente puede convertirse en una autoridad falsa: “Las redes sociales”, no son solo una herramienta, son un púlpito. La tecnología no es solo un avance: es un predicador. Y ese predicador no siempre anuncia verdad. Produce adicción, obsesión, superficialidad, ideologías torcidas y pensamientos fragmentados, por eso muchos la llaman “arma de distracción masiva”, y, tristemente, muchos cristianos la consumen igual que el mundo, escuchan más su voz que la de Dios. Por eso la pregunta del Espíritu sigue siendo relevante: ¿A quién estás escuchando?, porque de la voz que escuchamos depende la vida que vivimos.Y esta batalla que tú y yo vivimos hoy no es nueva. Se libró por primera vez en el huerto del Edén. La Escritura nos dice en Génesis 3:1-9 que, cuando Dios puso a Adán y Eva en el huerto, ellos conocían una sola voz: la voz del Señor. No había muerte, no había enfermedad, no había confusión, no había distracción. La única voz que sonaba era la del Creador. No sabemos cuántos años pasaron en esa condición, quizá siglos enteros, pero lo que sí sabemos es que, mientras el hombre solo escuchó a Dios, todo estuvo en orden.Un día apareció una voz nueva. Una voz que no tenía historia con ellos. Una voz que nunca había creado nada. Una voz que no tenía autoridad. Una voz que no tenía amor. Solo tenía astucia. Y esa voz encontró un oído dispuesto. Y lo primero que hizo no fue ordenarlos, no fue gritarles, no fue atacarlos… fue hablarles. Satanás no necesitó un ejército, ni una tormenta, ni un desastre… solo necesitó una voz. Y lo primero que cuestionó no fue el fruto, ni el huerto, ni el propósito… cuestionó la palabra de Dios: “¿Conque Dios os ha dicho…?”El enemigo siempre buscará entrar por el oído. Porque la guerra espiritual no se pierde cuando pecamos; se pierde cuando escuchamos lo que no deberíamos escuchar. Eva nunca había hablado antes de ese momento. La primera vez que Eva levantó su voz fue para responderle a la serpiente. La serpiente no solo la tentó; le ofreció voz y voto, le ofreció una opinión independiente, una voz que se levantaba sin obediencia, sin cobertura y sin sujeción, en otras palabras, se levantaba en rebeldía contra “El Creador”. La voz de Eva se escuchó por primera vez, cuando prestó su oído para escuchar lo incorrecto. Y lo único que Eva tenía que decir era un rotundo “No”.Quiero hacer un paréntesis para hablar de lo que ocurrió en Lucas 4; Lucas 4:3  “Entonces el diablo le dijo, si eres el hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se convierta en pan. Jesús le respondió, escrito está, no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre”. ¿Sabe qué me llama la atención? Que satanás no le importó el ayuno de Jesús. Cuando Jesús tuvo hambre, él se presentó. Él no llegó antes de que Jesús comenzara a ayunar para evitar que Jesús ayunara, no, Jesús estaba ayunando. Jesús estaba con Dios y a Satanás no le importaba eso, a él le importaba destruirle la identidad por medio de una simple duda “Si eres el hijo de Dios…”.¿Sabe qué estaba haciendo Satanás? Estaba hablándole al oído cuando ninguna otra voz le hablaba. Satanás llega al desierto a tentar a Jesús queriendo establecer un diálogo, “Si eres…”, fue una pregunta desafiante.¿Cuántas veces has caído porque el diablo te desafía y tu caes en su juego? Cuando el diablo viene a hacerte una pregunta desafiante, tenemos que aprender a decir “NO”. Satanás vino a decirle a Jesús “Si eres el hijo de Dios” y Jesús le dijo “No voy a hacer lo que tú me pides”, “No voy a caer en tu juego”, “No voy a prestarte el oído”, “Yo no creo lo que tú dices”.El problema más grande no es la serpiente, ni Satanás; es el oído.La fe viene por el oír, pero la incredulidad también.La obediencia entra por el oír, pero la rebeldía también.La santidad entra por el oír, pero la caída también.Y muchos de los dolores que hoy arrastramos son consecuencia de haber escuchado una voz que nunca debimos permitir. Muchas lágrimas, muchas heridas, muchos errores se habrían evitado con un “no” a tiempo. No al pecado, no a la relación equivocada, no a la conversación equivocada, no a la tentación que parecía pequeña. Pero no supimos decir no, porque queríamos agradar, porque queríamos encajar, porque no queríamos incomodar. Y cuando no decimos no, terminamos diciendo un “sí” que nos lleva a la destrucción.El problema más grande que tenemos está en nuestro oído. La fe viene por el oír, pero la incredulidad también viene por el oír, y todo lo que nosotros tenemos que aprender es decirle a lo que viene a hablarnos a nuestro oído es un “No rotundo”, no le preste el oído al diablo, si tu oído no es basurero, no permitas que nadie te eche basura. Hay momentos donde uno tiene que aprender a decir a la gente “No”. Nuestra identidad está en Cristo, pero hemos escuchado tantas cosas a las que no le dijimos “no”, y hemos perdido la identidad en Cristo.La serpiente hizo con Eva lo mismo que hace hoy. Primero sembró duda: “¿Conque Dios dijo…?” Luego sembró negación: “No morirán.” Y finalmente sembró mentira contra el carácter de Dios: “Dios no quiere darte lo mejor; te quiere limitar.” Ese es el espíritu que sigue operando en este tiempo. La voz que dice: “Esto no es tan malo”, “Sigue tu propio corazón”, “Haz lo que sientes”, “Tu cuerpo es tuyo”, “No necesitas obedecer”, y cuando dejamos entrar esas voces, inevitablemente terminamos como Adán y Eva: viendo lo agradable a los ojos, deseando lo que no debemos, tomando lo que Dios prohibió, comiendo lo que parecía inocente, y después sintiendo la vergüenza que viene después del pecado.La gracia, el amor y la bondad de Dios fueron cuestionados por la serpiente y Adán y Eva mordieron el anzuelo. Pero, contrario a lo que la serpiente sugirió, Dios está lleno de gracia, amor y bondad y Su carácter se demuestra cuando vuelve a hablarles, luego de lo que habían hecho: “Y oyeron la voz de Jehová Dios que se paseaba en el huerto, al aire del día; y el hombre y su mujer se escondieron de la presencia de Jehová Dios entre los árboles del huerto. Mas Jehová Dios llamó al hombre, y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás tú?» Génesis 3:8-9.En medio de su pecado, Dios los buscó y les habló una vez más. Y aún cuando habló palabras duras pero justas contra su desobediencia, también les dio la promesa de traer redención a la humanidad: “Pondré enemistad entre tú y la mujer, y entre tu simiente y su simiente; Él te herirá en la cabeza, Y tú lo herirás en el talón”, Génesis 3:15.

"Black Butterflies" The Vancouver-raised Rebecca Foon grew up with parents who were artists and activists, so it's no surprise that she became an artist and an activist herself. Let's start with the artist part. The Juno-award winning cellist, singer and composer Rebecca Foon has been in so many bands it's hard to keep track, so this is a partial list. No stranger to the post-rock and experimental world, Foon has been in Set Fire To Flames, Fifths Of Seven, A Silver Mt. Zion and the Gorecki Symphony Of Sorrow with Colin Stetson. She's also recorded under the Saltland moniker and she's the co-founder of the modern chamber ensemble Esmerine, whose 2013 Dalmak record won them a Juno. Under her own name Foon put out Waxing Moon in 2020 and the follow-up is the rather stunning new album Black Butterflies. Filled with sonorous vocals, inventive percussion and wondrous, sneaky rhythms, the reflective trip-hop groove of Black Butterflies summons the work of everyone from Massive Attack to Portishead. Redolent with rhythmic precision, musical dexterity and the kind of sonic architecture that builds worlds in the sky, Black Butterflies is a dose of real magic. Foon has collaborated with a list of luminaries like Laurie Anderson, Grant Hart, Nick Cave, British Sea Power, and Patrick Watson. As an activist and environmentalist, she's a member of the sustainability and climate change consulting cooperative Sustainability Solutions Group. The first music ever recorded in the multi-track format in Ethiopia came about from a Swedish national living in Addis Ababa who offered use of his four-track recorder to a group of Ethio-Jazz workhorses named Ibex Band. The Ibex boys welcomed the opportunity and set up shop in the empty ballroom of a hotel. For two days they made magic that would lay dormant for close to fifty years before a formal release this past April. What a gift.

On this lovely pilot episode of my new radio style podcast, I talk shop about the new direction and my ambition with this endeavour... I wanted to make an all-inclusive space on the internet for all of my thoughts. And I have lots of them… from all the things that interest me, like sports, music, philosophy, communication, leadership, fitness… you name it…without any care for what I should do for business. I realized long ago that I'm deathly allergic to labels, boxes and cages, so this weekly podcast is my answer to the mainstream “just be one thing” marketing mentality”.

2 Timoteo 3:13 “Mas los malos hombres y los engañadores irán de mal en peor, engañando y siendo engañados”.Al principio el hombre, un ser tripartito era una sola unidad, con la caída de hombre se rompe la unidad y comienza a desarrollar su carácter con base en sus emociones, sus sentimientos y su conocimiento. De todo lo que el hombre recibe a través de sus vivencias y sus experiencias en todas las áreas de su vida, lo aleja cada vez más y más del carácter de Dios.Uno de las consecuencias de alejarse cada vez más del carácter de Dios es el impregnarse del  carácter malsano o comúnmente llamado “Mal genio”, a menudo pensamos que el mal genio es una explosión, algo que estalla hacia afuera y arrasa con todo a su paso. Pero la realidad es más profunda y dolorosa: el mal genio es, ante todo, una implosión. El daño real comienza adentro, devastando el alma de la persona iracunda mucho antes de que toque a los demás. La primera víctima de la ira siempre somos nosotros mismos.Para entender esto, imaginemos la figura de un caballo. El maestro de sabiduría lo ilustra perfectamente en Proverbios 29:11 “El necio da rienda suelta a su ira, pero el sabio la reprime”, esa «rienda» es la conexión vital entre el jinete y el caballo; si se suelta, el animal pierde el freno, se desboca y corre sin dirección. Aunque hoy en día está de moda decir que no debemos reprimir nada y que debemos ser libres como caballos salvajes, la verdad es que un caballo indómito solo sirve para verlo de lejos en una fotografía. Tenerlo cerca es peligroso.Cuando perdemos el freno, empezamos a soltar palabras hirientes desde lo más profundo del ser., es una situación trágica que la Biblia describe en Proverbios 29:20: “¿Ves a un hombre precipitado en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay para el necio que para él”. Así que, cuando vemos a alguien estallar por situaciones pequeñas como… (coloca un ejemplo cotidiano: Perder su lugar en la fila del cajero, alguien que le atraviese el carro, etc) debemos preguntarnos cuánto dolor y amargura hay acumulado en el interior de la persona. Esas palabras hirientes no son culpa de las circunstancias, sino de un corazón que ha perdido la rienda.El desafío es grande porque no estamos solos; vivimos en una sociedad de gente que agita el ambiente. Lo dice Proverbios 29:8: “Los provocadores agitan la ciudad, pero los sabios se alejan de la ira”. Nuestras ciudades parecen estar en llamas, llenas de gente que avanza a gritos y empujones, como si esa fuera la única manera de sobrevivir. Es fácil pensar que debemos unirnos a ellos, ya que si no gritamos también, nos aplastarán.Sin embargo, hay una advertencia muy clara sobre con quién nos juntamos, Proverbios 22:24-25 dice: “No te asocies con el hombre iracundo, ni andes con el hombre violento, no sea que aprendas sus maneras y tiendas lazos para ti mismo”, si caminamos con los violentos, terminaremos aprendiendo sus mañas y quedaremos atrapados en su misma red de amargura.En lugar de eso, la verdadera sabiduría está en mirar el ejemplo de Jesucristo. Él conoce perfectamente la presión de esta sociedad que nos agita, y vino precisamente para ofrecernos un intercambio, Mateo 11:29: “Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas”.El apóstol Pablo entendió esto perfectamente, estando prisionero, y sabiendo que el carácter se prueba en la dificultad, nos dejó este consejo vital en Filipenses 2:5: “Haya, pues, en vosotros este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús”. Esa es la meta final: no dejar que la sociedad dicte nuestras reacciones, sino permitir que el carácter de Cristo tome las riendas de nuestra vida.El Carácter de Cristo es el fin último de todo cristiano. Es el punto máximo en el crecimiento espiritual, por lo tanto desarrollar el carácter de Cristo es la tarea más importante de la vida, cristiana, es la única cosa que nos va a identificar con El en todo momento y en todo lugar, Jesús lo dejó bien claro en el sermón del monte, Mateo 5:3-11, en que la recompensa eterna en el Cielo estará basada en el carácter que desarrollamos y demostramos aquí en la tierra, por tal razón, el objetivo de toda nuestra enseñanza no es llenar al pueblo de Dios de información y conocimiento sino el cambiar vidas.El carácter nunca se construye en un salón de clases o en el salón de la iglesia, el carácter se construye en la vida diaria, cuando entendemos cómo Dios anhela desarrollar nuestro carácter y el de nuestra familia a Su imagen y semejanza, el desarrollo del carácter siempre involucra una decisión, cuando tomamos la decisión correcta, nuestro carácter crece más como el de Cristo.Observemos Gálatas 5:22-23 “Mas el fruto del Espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe, mansedumbre, templanza; contra tales cosas no hay ley”. El fruto del Espíritu es una imagen perfecta de Cristo, Él encarnó las nueve cualidades. Si vas a desarrollar el carácter de Cristo, debes tener estas cualidades en tu vida.Romanos 8:29-30 “Porque a los que antes conoció, también los predestinó para que fuesen hechos conformes a la imagen de su Hijo, para que él sea el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. Y a los que predestinó, a estos también llamó; y a los que llamó, a estos también justificó; y a los que justificó, a estos también glorificó”. El término carácter viene de la palabra griega “charazo” y se refiere a lo que esta esculpido en piedra o en acero y que le da una determinada forma de ser a aquello en lo que está grabado. El carácter es lo que uno es, no lo que aparenta ser, o los demás creen que es. ¿Como podemos conocer Su carácter?, El conocimiento teórico se convierte en algo espurio, superficial, por tal motivo es necesario tener una experiencia personal e intima con Dios, cuando te conviertes a él, cuando le entregas tu vida a Él y comienzas a tener una relación espiritual, esa relación a la cual hemos llamado #CotidianidadConÉl, es la mejor manera de llegar a conocer Su carácter.Observemos los atributos que describen a Dios: Es espíritu, invisible, inmutable, omnisciente,  lleno de sabiduría, veraz, fiel, bondadoso, misericordioso, lleno de amor, santo, justo, celoso, tardo para la ira, su voluntad en medio de aquel que lo anhela, omnipotente, perfecto, hermoso.La Biblia dice que Dios es espíritu, Juan 4:24 “Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren”, por lo tanto llegar a conocer a Dios es más difícil que llegar a conocer a un ser humano, así que si todavía estamos en duda sobre el carácter de Dios, podemos fijarnos en la vida de Jesús. Cuando sabemos quien es Jesús, sabemos cómo es Dios.Es digno de confianza. Si llegamos a conocer quién es Dios, no necesitamos tener miedo de que él será diferente mañana, Hebreos 13:8 lo describe como el principio y el fin, el Alfa y la Omega y se resume como “Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, hoy y siempre”.Es amor, 1ª Juan 4:8. Jesús es la encarnación perfecta del amor de Su Padre. Porque fue Dios quien dio a su Hijo único, para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna, Juan 3:16.Es justo. “Dios de verdad, y sin ninguna iniquidad, justo y recto es él”, Deuteronomio 32:4. Él ama la verdad y la justicia, y odia la mentira y la injusticia.Es santo. Isaías 6:3 dice: “Santo, santo, santo es el Señor de los ejércitos; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria! “.Es misericordioso. Éxodo 34:6-7 “Y pasando Jehová por delante de él, proclamó: ¡Jehová! ¡Jehová! fuerte, misericordioso y piadoso; tardo para la ira, y grande en misericordia y verdad; que guarda misericordia a millares, que per...

Dit jaar waren we opnieuw live te horen op Inside The Circle 2025, de conferentie rond elektronische muziek en nightlife culture.Voor deze special nodigden we Jochen Sablon uit.Jochen begon zijn carrière in de muziekindustrie als lid van het elektronische duo Sound of Stereo. The Bristol outfit Adult Leisure are one of the most exciting indie pop bands around. Formed in 2020, Adult Leisure have put out a succession of catchy singles and EPs like The Weekend Ritual which have all led up to the release of their debut album, The Things You Don't Know Yet. Filled with infectious hooks, inventive arrangements and a singer in Neil Scott whose delivery is a mix of lippy confidence and pure pop grace, Adult Leisure are poised to be huge. Jeremías 13:1-11 “Así me dijo Jehová: Ve y cómprate un cinto de lino, y cíñelo sobre tus lomos, y no lo metas en agua”. “Esto me dijo el Señor: «Ve y cómprate un calzoncillo de lino y póntelo, pero no lo laves»”.Muchos corazones están llenos de “codicia, egocentrismo, vanagloria, manipulación, depravación, lujuria, lascivia, fornicación, adulterio, idolatría, brujería, hechicería y el enfermizo deseo por el reconocimiento y la fama; todo esto ha creado un evangelio paralelo que está matando la iglesia de hoy y a todos sus miembros, llevándolos a una vida llena de máscaras, que a través de ellas ocultamos cosas arraigadas en nuestro corazón”.¿Cuántas de las cosas que estamos viviendo son el resultado de las cosas que hicimos sin pensar?, que creímos que traería bendición y terminó siendo muerte, hoy Dios está aquí para revertir caminos que dañan nuestra vida. En este día Dios nos visita y nos habla para quitar la muerte, la enfermedad, el oprobio, la afrenta y el pecado oculto de nuestra vida, hogar y familia, vamos a sacar a la luz todo lo oculto y vamos a colocar lo oculto delante del Señor…Un forma para sacar  todo lo oculto de nuestras vidas lo encontramos en Santiago 1:21: “Por lo cual, desechando toda inmundicia y abundancia de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra implantada, la cual puede salvar vuestras almas”.Para profundizar en el tema, traigo a memoria lo que está escrito en Jeremías 13:1-11, donde Dios no solo habla con palabras, sino con acciones proféticas. Jeremías fue uno de los profetas a quien Dios le pidió representar con su vida lo que estaba pasando con su pueblo. En el capítulo 13, Dios le ordena hacer algo extraño: comprar unos calzoncillos de lino, usarlos durante un tiempo y no lavarlos y luego esconderlos junto al río Éufrates. A través de ese acto simbólico, el Señor quiso mostrar cómo Israel, un pueblo escogido para estar pegado a Él, se había podrido a causa del pecado y la soberbia.El cinto de lino no es otra cosa que la ropa interior que usaban los hombres en este tiempo, eran piezas de vestimenta utilizadas en la antigüedad que, más allá de su función práctica, tenían un profundo significado religioso y social. No eran cinturones de cuero como los usamos hoy, sino fajas de tela de alta calidad que se enrollaban alrededor de la cintura, cubriendo las partes intimas del hombre; En una época donde se usaban túnicas largas y holgadas, el cinto servía para ajustar la ropa al cuerpo ("ceñirse los lomos"), permitiendo libertad de movimiento para trabajar, caminar o correr.Estaban hechos de lino, una fibra vegetal extraída de la planta del lino. El "lino fino" era una tela importada, costosa, extremadamente blanca, suave y resistente. Era considerada un tejido de lujo, asociado a la pureza y la realeza, en contraste con la lana o las telas ásperas del pueblo común; era un articulo de distinción y dignidad, para un noble, era señal de riqueza, mientras que para un sacerdote, era una herramienta de servicio santo. En lo profético fue la imagen de cuán intima debía ser la relación entre el ser humano y Dios, una unión estrecha diseñada para dar gloria pero se pudre cuando se rompe el vínculo.El lino en la Biblia simboliza pureza, santidad y servicio sacerdotal. Jeremías debía ponérselo sobre los lomos, un lugar íntimo y cercano al cuerpo. Esto representaba la relación estrecha que Dios deseaba tener con su pueblo.Jeremías 13:4–7 “Toma el cinto que compraste y que está sobre tus lomos, levántate y vete al Éufrates, y escóndelo allá en la hendidura de una peña... Y después de muchos días lo saqué del Éufrates, y he aquí que el cinto se había podrido, y para ninguna cosa era bueno.”Lo que antes era una prenda pura y ceñida, ahora está podrida. Y Dios explica por qué:Jeremías 13:9–11 “Así haré podrir la soberbia de Judá y la mucha soberbia de Jerusalén... porque este pueblo malo no quiso oír mis palabras, anda en la imaginación de su corazón... será como este cinto, que para ninguna cosa es bueno.”El cinto o lienzo era símbolo del pacto y la cercanía divina. Dios dice: “Como el cinto se ciñe a los lomos del hombre, así hice que se ciñera a mí toda la casa de Israel... para que me fueran por pueblo, por nombre, por alabanza y por honra.”Pero el pecado los separó. El orgullo, la desobediencia y la búsqueda de otros dioses los enterró lejos de la presencia de Dios. Y todo lo que se separa del calor del cuerpo de Cristo, termina pudriéndose.Así es también hoy: muchos fueron llamados a estar ceñidos al Señor, pero se escondieron. Fueron escogidos para ser instrumentos de honra, pero permitieron que el polvo del mundo los ensuciara. Dios no quiere ministerios podridos, quiere corazones ceñidos.Este mensaje es una llamada del Espíritu Santo para la Iglesia de este tiempo. Dios nos dice: “Vuelvan a ceñirse a Mí. No quiero una generación que se esconda, sino una que permanezca unida a mi cintura.”Muchos están viviendo como el cinto de Jeremías: enterrados por las pruebas, ocultos por el dolor y el pecado, dañados por el orgullo, secos por la falta de intimidad. Pero el Señor está desenterrando lo que parecía perdido. Él no te olvidó. La sangre que Cristo derramó restaura lo podrido, limpia lo oculto y devuelve lo inútil a su propósito.Si sigues ciñendo tus lomos con un trapo de inmundicia:Te llevará más allá de dónde pensabas llegar. Decimos “es que solo pienso llegar hasta aquí”, o, “créeme, que esto está bajo control”. Lo que estaba bajo control termina controlándote a ti. A su tiempo controlará tu corazón, y lo que controla tu corazón controlará también tus emociones y eventualmente toda tu mente. Tu vida queda sometida al pecado.Te alejará por más tiempo de lo que habías pensado. “Es solo un par de días…”, y los días se convierten en semanas, y las semanas en meses, y en muchas ocasiones en años.Te costará más de lo que querías pagar. Te costará tu integridad, tu reputación, tu paz. Puede llegar a costarte tu esposa o esposo, tus hijos, tus amigos, tu trabajo, tu ministerio y tu iglesia.La restauración es un proceso que puede durar toda la vida, ya que el pecado engendra pecado. Una vez pecas, te ves en la necesidad de pecar nuevamente para encubrir tu primera falta y esto evita la restauración.Te lleva a justificar lo que has hecho. El peso de la culpa y la necesidad de lucir bien ante los demás, te llevará a explicar y luego a justificar tu pecado. Ahora pecarás de auto-justificación.El placer es efímero y temporal, pero las consecuencias del pecado son duraderas. El placer que te produce el pecado en el que incurres es de mucho menor duración que las consecuencias que te acarrea el haber pecado.Nadie se burla de Dios. “No os dejéis engañar, de Dios nadie se burla; pues todo lo que el hombre siembre, eso también segará”, Gálatas 6:7.La Palabra dice en Isaías 1:18 “Venid luego, dice Jehová, y estemos a cuenta: si vuestros pecados fueren como la grana, como la nieve serán emblanquecidos.” Y en 2 Timoteo 2:21 “Así que, si alguno se limpia de estas cosas, será instrumento para honra, santificado, útil al Señor, y dispuesto para toda buena obra.”Ministración: Dios quiere volver a ceñirte a Su presencia, que vuelvas a sentir Su calor, Su dirección, Su abrazo. No permitas que el tiempo, la rutina o el pecado te pudran espiritualmente, entra en la nube de Dios, entra en su perfecta presencia, El Señor te dice hoy: “Te hice para estar junto a mí, no lejos. Te escogí para intimidad, no para apariencia. Quiero volverte a ceñir”. Levanta tu voz y dile: “Señor, cíñeme otra vez a Ti. No quiero ser un lienzo...

"Love Rollercoaster" To say the Ohio Players are one of the greatest funk bands of all time kind of falls short of the mark. The Ohio Players are, quite simply, one of the greatest bands of all time. The Dayton R&B outfit got their start in 1959 as the Ohio Untouchables and their leader Robert Ward was like a funk version of Jim Morrison--brilliant but unpredictable, Ward would walk offstage mid-gig and never come back. He was punk long before there was punk and he was a wild card for sure, but charisma can carry you pretty far in art. But, to be fair, it can't always carry you over the line and the Untouchables started swapping out personnel, Ward included, and they rebranded in the late '60s as the Ohio Players. A false start found them skidding to a halt in 1970, but then, things started to gel. A furious blend of funk and soul, The Ohio Players started racking up hits like Love Rollercoaster, Fire and Who'd She Coo? Albums like Skin Tight, Honey and Contradiction remain indisputable classics and the band is still at it, currently in the studio cooking something up. As for James Diamond Williams, he joined the band around '74 and he quickly asserted himself as one of the very best behind the kit. Eclesiastés 9:4 "Aún hay esperanza para todo aquel que está entre los vivos; porque mejor es perro vivo que león muerto”.La frase "mejor es perro vivo que león muerto", es un dicho bíblico de Eclesiastés 9:4 que significa que mientras haya vida hay esperanza. La frase enfatiza que un ser vivo, tiene más potencial para el futuro y puede hacer cosas, a diferencia de un ser poderoso que está muerto y no puede hacer nada. Denota la importancia de la vida y la esperanza que viene con ella, compara la vida de un ser humilde pero vivo, con la de un ser poderoso pero muerto, para resaltar que la vida es preferible a la muerte, por lo tanto mientras la tengamos tenemos que procurar “Ser Feliz”.Salomón fue el tercer y último rey del reino unido de Israel, después del rey Saúl y el rey David. Él fue el hijo de David y Betsabé, la ex esposa de Urías el hitita que David había matado para ocultar su adulterio con Betsabé, mientras su marido estaba en el frente de batalla. Salomón escribió el Cantar de los Cantares, el libro del Eclesiastés, y una gran parte del libro de los Proverbios.Cuando Salomón llegó al trono, buscó a Dios y Dios le dio la oportunidad de pedir lo que quería. Salomón reconoció humildemente su incapacidad para gobernar bien y desinteresadamente le pidió a Dios la sabiduría que necesitaría para gobernar justamente al pueblo de Dios. Dios le dio sabiduría y también riqueza.Salomón completó muchos proyectos de construcción, también construyó una flota de buques y adquirió toneladas de oro de Ofir con Hiram, rey de Tiro, su aliado, el proyecto de construcción más importante de Salomón era terminar el templo judío, por instrucciones y disposiciones de su padre David.Salomón tuvo 700 esposas y 300 concubinas, muchas de ellas extranjeras que lo llevaron a la idolatría en su vejez, enojando grandemente a Dios, 1 Reyes 11:1-13, en 1 Reyes 11:9-10 Dice:  "Y se enojó el Señor contra Salomón, por cuanto su corazón se había apartado del Señor Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces, y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese a dioses ajenos; mas él no guardó lo que le mandó el Señor". Hay muchas lecciones que podemos aprender de la vida de Salomón:Cuando buscamos a Dios con todo nuestro corazón, lo encontraremos (1 Reyes 3:3-7). Aquellos que honran a Dios, Él los honrara (1 Reyes 3:11-13; 1 Samuel 2:30). Dios nos capacitará para llevar a cabo las tareas a las cuales nos llama, si confiamos en Él.La vida espiritual es una maratón, no una carrera de velocidad. Un buen comienzo no siempre es suficiente para terminar bien (1 Reyes 3; 11).Podemos sinceramente pedirle a Dios que incline nuestro corazón hacia Él (1 Reyes 8:57-58), pero vamos a caminar fuera del camino de rectitud si elegimos violar Su Palabra.Vivir la vida sin Dios no tiene sentido, así tengamos educación, objetivos cumplidos, placeres y abundancia de riqueza.Al final, Salomón escribió en Eclesiastés 12:13-14 “El fin de todo el discurso oído es este: Teme a Dios, y guarda sus mandamientos; porque esto es el todo del hombre. Porque Dios traerá toda obra a juicio, juntamente con toda cosa encubierta, sea buena o sea mala”.Tomando estas enseñanzas, quiero compartir la manera como Salomón considera una vida llena de felicidad, en otras palabras, “Como ser feliz”.Salomón nos enseña la realidad inevitable de la muerte para toda persona. Todas las personas comparten este mismo destino. En última instancia, nuestra vida y el día señalado en que moriremos están en manos de Dios; por tanto, debemos apreciar la vida y aprovecharla al máximo mientras aún tengamos aliento. Salomón afirma: "Aún hay esperanza para todo aquel que está entre los vivos; porque mejor es perro vivo que león muerto”.Puesto que al final todo el mundo muere, es inútil e insensato pasar nuestros días en la búsqueda sin sentido de cosas como el poder, la fortuna y la fama. La muerte rebaja al majestuoso león a una posición inferior a la del perro vivo, a un estado de nada. Dios nos da una sola vida, una oportunidad inestimable de conocerle y recibir la salvación, Isaías 55:6 “Buscad a Jehová mientras puede ser hallado, llamadle en tanto que está cercano”; Si nunca pensamos en la muerte y en nuestro destino eterno, probablemente perderemos la oportunidad de pasar la eternidad con Él.Esta Palabra de Eclesiastés 9:4 nos lleva ineludiblemente a Eclesiastés 9:5-10 “Porque los que viven saben que han de morir; pero los muertos nada saben, ni tienen más paga; porque su memoria es puesta en olvido. También su amor y su odio y su envidia fenecieron ya; y nunca más tendrán parte en todo lo que se hace debajo del sol. Anda, y come tu pan con gozo, y bebe tu vino con alegre corazón; porque tus obras ya son agradables a Dios. En todo tiempo sean blancos tus vestidos, y nunca falte ungüento sobre tu cabeza. Goza de la vida con la mujer que amas, todos los días de la vida de tu vanidad que te son dados debajo del sol, todos los días de tu vanidad; porque esta es tu parte en la vida, y en tu trabajo con que te afanas debajo del sol. Todo lo que te viniere a la mano para hacer, hazlo según tus fuerzas; porque en el Seol, adonde vas, no hay obra, ni trabajo, ni ciencia, ni sabiduría” y de aquí surge esta pregunta ¿Cuántas veces hemos dicho o hemos escuchado “Después de muerto ya pa que”? Salomón del cual estamos hablando; Tuvo todo lo que nosotros podríamos pensar que se necesita para ser feliz, pero al final de sus días nos mostró que eso no era la felicidad; “Fama, carros, caballos, mujeres, palacios, reputación, todas las riquezas, oro, plata, etc”, todo y Salomón deja ver que la vida se pasa rápido, que la muerte no da aviso, que la vida de una persona puede aparentemente tenerlo todo y estar demasiado vacía, por lo tanto esto es una invitación a través del pasaje bíblico, a que podamos aprovechar cada momento de nuestra vida.Hay mucha gente que dice “estoy esperando en Dios”, “estoy orando para que Dios haga algo” y lo que tienen en su corazón es pereza y dejadez, muchos se han convertido en personas perezosas, andan en desidia, no tienen propósito y no saben de donde vienen ni para donde van y yo quiero decirle algo, hay cosas que Dios nos da para hacer en el momento, pero si no las hacemos no las podríamos hacer nunca mas, recuerde que si no aprovechamos cada instante de nuestro tiempo, simplemente se nos va y no lo podemos recuperar.Ahora bien, sabemos que la muerte es una realidad, pero es necesario que entiendas, que aunque tememos morir, no por eso tenemos que desperdiciar el privilegio que Dios nos ha dado de vivir y ser feliz. Lo malo no es morir, lo terrible es vivir sin propósito.Al avanzar en el texto me tropiezo en verso 7 con una expresión “Anda…, adelante…” ese término “Anda…” no trata de una sugerencia, sino que es una orden que Dios está dando a través de la Palabra “Así que come tus alimentos con alegría, bebe tu vino con corazón contento porque Dios lo aprueba” y remata diciendo “Vístete con ropa blanca, elegante y échate un poco de perfume”. Hay cosas que pueden ser realmente sencillas ya que lo que Salomón no enseña es “muévete, disfruta lo que Dios te he dado, los años que Dios te ha entregado, disfruta lo que tienes ahora y no esperes un mañana diciendo: Luego lo haré”.Observa que estas cosas y estos detalles son más fáciles de tener de lo que pensamos tu y yo, Dios te dio las cosas sencillas para que las disfrutes justamente ahora que Dios te ha dado ese regalo llamado vida, no esperes morir para ir a decir: Gracias, te amo; es en vida que se dan las pal...

"Forever Shining" In 1976 brothers Tony and Chip Kinman founded the legendary Carlsbad punk band The Dills, who in just four short years crammed their music CV with highlights. Before they disbanded in 1980, The Dils had recorded classics like "Class War" and Mr. Big" opened for the Clash and appeared in Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke. The Kinmans went on to form Rank and File, who are considered by many to be one of the first cowpunk bands around. Rank and FIle's rootsy stomp and melodic muscle powered them through three perfect albums--Sundown, Long Gone Dead and their self-titled 19897 swansong. The Kinmans had an uncanny ability to read the cultural room before anyone else--they were hardcore before it hit the suburbs and they were cowpunk before it was cool and with their next band Blackbird, they were techno metal before Korn and Linkin Park shirts at Hot Topic. The Kinmans went on to play in bands like Cowboy Nation and Ford Madox Ford and sadly, Tony Kinman died in 2018. Which brings us to KInman's self-titled Kinman's new album. A stirring song cycle filled with acoustic numbers, Tex-Mex techno, the undulating rhythms and "Me And Tony" a streetwise tribute to a life in music with his brother, Kinman's new record sounds like nobody else. It's filled with unexpected sonic flourishes, heartfelt emotional ruminations, great storytelling and devastating beauty. "Rocks Off" The Connecticut-born singer songwriter Sean Griffin has helmed the Irish punk outfit The Ruffians for close to thirty years. With three great albums under their belts, the band has played shows with everyone from Shane MacGowan to Black 47 and in the process, they've garnered a reputation for being one of the best live acts around. Sean's solo work swaps some of the traditional instrumentation of the Ruffians and makes winning detours into Britpop and indie rock bliss. His first single was the rousing "People Are Mad" which was followed up by "Rocks Off" which is a swaggering blast of pop mastery which may very well be a late entry into one of the year's biggest bangers. Griffin's voice has plenty of muscle and plenty of elegance and that rare mix brings to mind the raw but polished athleticism of a gymnast, which, by the way, Griffin actually was. "Hammer + Echo" Getting their start in the early '80s, the Kilkenny Cats were one of the most fascinating bands at a time when there were a lot of fascinating bands around. Formed by the North Carolina born Tom Cheek, who had relocated to Athens, Georgia for college, the Kilkenny Cats played a dark and moody blend of post-punk and psychedelia that still, after all these years, feels decidedly timeless. Here's what I mean by that--sometimes when you listen to a band you can hear the years they existed. We won't name. names, but you know what I mean--however, when it comes to the Kilkenny Cats, their music was so singular, they elude the timeline. Although their fellow city dwelling comrades ranged from REM to Pylon to Love Tractor, they were their own thing. Alive with jangling guitars, prowling basslines, foreboding drums and sonorous vocals, the Kilkenny Cats' music was awash in mystery and maybe that's why all these years later, they still sound as pressingly relevant as ever. They were a beloved live act, they had a deal with Twin/Tone, played shows with REM and Husker Du and then? Well, then decades of silence. Why? Well, that's what we're here to figure out and Tom Cheek walks us through it all. Spoiler alert: The 'Cats are back and more music in addition to the wonderful expanded reissue of 1988's Hammer + Echo, will be coming.
