"Boys Talking" Yes, it's true that Will Dailey's seventh album, Boys Talking is not technically out. I mean, it is and it isn't. Hold that thought because we're going to circle back to it. The Boston-born Will Dailey is one of the most affecting, soulful and moving singers you'll ever hear. His back catalog, which features records like Goodbye Red Bullet, National Throat, Golden Walker and his new one Boys Talking, is a perfect discography that filled with rootsy soul, road-kissed Americana and wrenching ballads that make you miss everyone you ever lost. Will's resume' is a winning read: he's signed to a major label, played with Juliana Hatfield, Peter Buck and Eddie Vedder, opened for The Wallflowers, received endless critical acclaim and played the Folk, Americana, and Roots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, paying tribute to the late Richie Havens. Will Dailey is the real deal--a singer with tremendous range and poetic prowess and if you want to classify him as one of the best kept secrets in music, that's fine, but he's one secret that shouldn't be kept. So what's the story with Boys Talking? Is it out? Yes and no. You can't find it on any streaming service, but you can buy it from Will at his website. And as he innovates further against the current digital model, another move he's made is to record a song that only you will hear--give him ten bucks and you get a song you can only listen to once. In the 2022 documentary The Elephant 6 Recording Co., they waste no time in addressing a very valid question: What exactly is Elephant 6? Is it a record label? (Yes, but not always.) Is it a collective of likeminded visionaries? (Yes.) Is the epicenter of E6 Athens, GA? Denver? Ruston, LA? (Yes. Yes. Yes.) It started with four high school friends in Ruston, Louisiana - Robert Schneider, Jeff Mangum, Will Cullen Hart, and Bill Doss - who shared a love of home recording and '60s psych pop and needed an imaginary label for their self-circulated tapes. Soon, the foursome of friends would form the three seminal bands of the collective - Schneider would relocate to Denver and put together the Apples in Stereo, with the other three heading to Athens. Hart and Doss would become the driving force behind Olivia Tremor Control and Mangum would establish his primary focus Neutral Milk Hotel. From there, it's a long and winding family tree with a lineage of interconnected bands sharing members in common and/or an aesthetic. For more than 30 years, E6 has represented a trademark of quality for lovers of intelligent, imaginative, blissful, beautifully strange pop music. According to the E6 website, there are a mere 51 bands who can lay claim to being an "official" part of the collective, and we are fortunate to have one of them joining us for this discussion of some of our favorite E6 songs. The Rishis are centered around the married duo of songwriters/vocalists Ranjan Avasthi and Sofie Lute, with keyboardist Marcel Sletten also joining us. Their transcendent self-titled second album (out now on Cloud Recordings) features the band's stunning combination of rootsy folk-pop, cosmic washes of hazy psychedelia, and the mystical power of Indian music. "Deck" Over the course of their nearly-fifteen album career, Hallelujah The Hills have established themselves as one of the most unpredictable, inventive and fascinating bands on the planet. Hard to pick favorites in their discography because every album is unbelievable--there's 2012's No One Knows What Happens Next or 2013's Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Trashcan or 2016's A Band Is Something To Figure Out--pick any one you like and you can't go wrong. Speaking of picking the Boston outfit's new effort Deck requires you to do just that. Or, asks you to do just that. Or, if you don't want to, you kind of are because not making a choice is a choice. A sprawling, thrilling and altogether deliciously ambitious project, Deck is arranged into four loosely thematic elements that correspond to the suits of a deck of cards. Each suit has its own musical style; introspective spare numbers, orchestrally arranged compositions, indie rock stomp and idiosyncratic tracks that wind and loop and twist and rattle and diverge tunefully away. Along the way you'll run into Craig Finn of the Hold Steady, Ezra Furman, Mission of Burma's Clint Conley and Will Dailey. There's a song for every card in a deck and this fifty-two track effort is filled with surprises, detours, hard lefts into the darkness and jet-powered pulls into whipping storms and sunny wide open fields where a lone guitar angles under the sunlight then bursts into flames. It's hard to explain but it's easy to experience so I urge you to pick up Deck and toss it into the air and follow it wherever it goes. Ryan Walsh is the band's braintrust and visionary and he's the perfect frontman and musical director--his compositions are literate and unexpected and his voice filled with presence and urgency. Walsh's book Astral Weeks: A Secret History of 1968 is genius by the way, so get that if you have a chance. Ezequiel 37:13 “Y sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando abra vuestros sepulcros, y os saque de vuestras sepulturas, pueblo mío”.Tenemos que empezar a llevar una vida consagrada a Dios, una vida que no busca satisfacción propia mediante un estilo de vida pecaminoso, sino que se ha entregado a Dios y a Su voluntad; no es una vida perfecta, es una vida santificada, apartada y rendida a Dios.Para iniciar debemos preguntarnos: ¿Cómo espero yo que mi vida y la de mi familia camine por sendas correctas, que tenga un buen futuro, que tenga un buen final, que mis generaciones sean sanadas; sino comienzo por mi?. Dios primero llama a un individuo y comienza una obra transformadora en él, así que, comienza por ti, adquiere un compromiso serio, conságrate a Dios y luego Él lo hará con tu familia.En la Biblia encontramos varios ejemplos de personas que fueron llamados por Dios, para cumplir diferentes misiones. En tres de esos casos hay algo que es común, ante el llamado, esas tres personas optaron por presentar excusas ante Dios, con el fin de no cumplir la misión.El primero de esos llamados, es el llamado de Dios a Moisés, que encontramos en Éxodo capítulos 3 y 4. Moisés había sido salvado milagrosamente de las aguas, adoptado como hijo por la hija del Faraón de Egipto. Fue educado allí, con todos los beneficios propios de su condición, pero bajo la tutoría directa de su propia madre y hermana. Luego de un episodio triste en el cual dio muerte a un egipcio que golpeaba a un hebreo, tuvo que huir al desierto, para luego emparentarse con Jetro, al casarse con su hija Séfora.Estando en ese desierto de Madián, mientras cuidaba los rebaños de su suegro, «Éxodo 3», tuvo una extraordinaria visión, un encuentro con Dios, en medio del cual recibe su llamamiento para liderar la liberación de su pueblo esclavizado en Egipto. El llamamiento es claro, la tarea a ejecutar es clara, la misión es una sola. Pero Moisés empieza a argumentar ante Dios múltiples razones que él considera son obstáculos para cumplir con el llamado de Dios.A partir de Éxodo 3:11 y hasta Éxodo 4:13, Moisés usa una y otra y otra excusa para no cumplir la tarea encomendada por Dios. Cosas como, por ejemplo: «No me creerán»; «Quién soy yo»; «no soy hombre de fácil palabra» etc, etc, etc. Moisés, al igual que muchos de nosotros, buscamos en nuestro ser “debilidades”, “falencias”, “limitaciones”, o planteamos que otros están mejor preparados para esa misión, «que quizá no estamos listos todavía»; estoy seguro que Dios nunca llamará a una persona a cumplir una tarea, que le deje en ridículo a Él mismo. Cuando recibes un llamado de Dios a servir en su obra, no pienses quién eres, o qué tienes, piensa que si Él te llama es porque Él conoce tus fortalezas y tus debilidades, Él no se equivoca al asignar una tarea.El segundo llamado es el del profeta Jeremías; Este relato lo encontramos en Jeremías 1:1-19. Jeremías era hijo de Hilcias, uno de los sacerdotes en Anatot. Una de las particularidades de este llamado, es que Dios le dice al profeta en Jeremías 1:5, que Él lo conocía desde el vientre materno, esto hace que sea un llamado pre-establecido; desde su nacimiento ya Jeremías había sido escogido por Dios, por lo tanto Dios no se equivoca al llamar a una persona. Dios no sólo lo había llamado desde el vientre materno, sino que también lo había santificado desde su nacimiento.¿Cuál fue la actitud de Jeremías ante el llamado de Dios? muy similar a la de Moisés, se mira a sí mismo, analiza sus condiciones, evalúa el llamado y la dimensión de la tarea, pensando en él y no en quién lo estaba llamando y comisionando. En Jeremías 1:6 dice “Señor Jehová, he aquí no sé hablar, porque soy niño”. En realidad, el profeta Jeremías era ya un hombre, desde el punto de vista físico y emocional, por lo que aquí evidencia, es la manera cómo se sentía, ante la magnitud de la misión.Dios le dijo tres cosas importantes: «No digas soy un niño» «no temas» y «estoy contigo para librarte»… Luego con su mano toca la boca del profeta Jeremías y dice: «He puesto mis palabras en tu boca», por lo tanto, no debemos angustiarnos pensando qué diremos, en su tiempo, Dios pondrá palabras adecuadas y pertinentes en nuestra boca.El tercer relato es el llamado del profeta Jonás, lo encontramos en el libro de Jonás, en los primeros versículos del capítulo 1. Jonás era hijo de Amitai y recibió un llamado de parte de Dios, con un mensaje muy claro y una dirección clara. Debía ir a Nínive, pregonar contra ella el juicio, a causa de la maldad de ese pueblo.¿Cuál fue la actitud de Jonás? Bueno, a diferencia de los anteriores llamados, él no argumenta contra Dios, ni le presenta excusas, solamente toma la decisión de huir, de ir a una población que estaba localizada muy lejos del lugar que Dios le había indicado. Se fue muy lejos, en lugar de ir a Nínive, se fue a Tarsis. Cuál pudo ser la verdadera razón de esta decisión de Jonás, no lo sabemos exactamente, pero probablemente era parte del pueblo judío que consideraba que Dios era el Dios sólo de Israel, y que su gracia y su misericordia eran sólo para el pueblo judío; en síntesis, Jonás no “pelea” con Dios, más bien, decide ir a otro lado, no cumplir la misión, dándole a entender a Dios, que no está de acuerdo con el contenido de la tarea. Lo demás es historia, todos la conocemos, sabemos que finalmente fue a cumplir la misión, a regañadientes, pero lo hizo, luego de sufrir múltiples adversidades y dolores. A veces aprender a escuchar detenidamente a Dios y, particularmente obedecerle, es una tarea bastante difícil, por nuestra propia naturaleza egoísta y pecaminosa.Como mencioné en el artículo, tu yo formamos parte de esos siervos que Dios está enviando a la mies, si Dios te llamó, Él te respaldará, te capacitará y te guiará a cumplir tu misión.En este tiempo y por causa de no aceptar el llamado de Dios, vemos que las familias de la tierra están en bancarrota espiritual, emocional, económica y moral. "Can You Fly" Yes, Freedy Johnston did his California Thing and it was immortalized on his 1992 album Can You Fly. When you're an artist you can go one of two ways: east or west and he Kansas-born singer-songwriter Freedy Johnston went east, landing in New York after college. Firmly planted in the 212, Johnston worked odd jobs and wrote songs and after keeping at it, he signed with the fledgling indie label Bar/None and that kicked off a career that has yielded classic albums like This Perfect World, Never Home, Back On The Road To You and, of course Can You Fly, which, after almost 30 years is available again in a remastered on CD and clear vinyl pressing. Johnston has worked with Butch Vig, Aimee Mann, T-Bone Burnett, The Embarrassment and John Dee Graham, he's played all over the world, been praised by everyone from Rolling Stone to The New York Times, had a hit song with "Bad Reputation," played Conan, SXSW and signed to a major label. It's a partial list, but you get the idea: Freedy Johnston has had quite a career. With a new album on the way, Johnston has never sounded better. Juan 5:5 “Y había allí un hombre que hacía treinta y ocho años que estaba enfermo”.Una parálisis es la pérdida total o parcial del movimiento en una o más partes del cuerpo, y generalmente ocurre cuando hay un problema con el sistema nervioso, especialmente el cerebro, la médula espinal o los nervios periféricos.Cuando hablamos de «parálisis espiritual» la Palabra se refiere a una condición en la que una persona pierde su capacidad de avanzar en su vida espiritual, de responder a Dios, o de cumplir con su propósito, debido a heridas, incredulidad, pecado, o falta de fe. Esta experiencia, que tal vez muchos de nosotros hemos o estamos enfrentado en algún momento de nuestro camino de fe, se manifiesta como un estancamiento espiritual, una sensación de desmotivación, o una desconexión profunda en nuestra relación con Dios.A menudo, la parálisis espiritual se arraiga en nuestra vida debido a una serie de consecuencias: Dudas que nublan nuestra fe, los constantes obstáculos que encontramos en la vida diaria o incluso el desgaste que proviene del ajetreo constante de nuestras rutinas.Esta situación espiritual puede parecer un laberinto sin salida, donde los caminos de la oración y la comunión con Dios parecen desvanecerse. Sin embargo, es crucial reconocer que la parálisis espiritual no es un destino final, sino más bien un punto en nuestro viaje espiritual que nos invita a buscar un cambio profundo y significativo.En el día de hoy, estudiaremos cómo podemos identificar la presencia de parálisis en nuestras vidas, parálisis física, emocional y espiritual. A través de la sabiduría de las Escrituras, y la revelación de Dios, buscaremos maneras de romper las cadenas de la inmovilidad física, emocional y espiritual en nuestras vidas, familias y descendencias.La parálisis es un espiritu inmundo que te impide el movimiento, el avance; un espiritu que te impide reaccionar, actuar, alcanzar tus metas y propositos, que aunque lo tengas enfrente no puedes alcanzarlo.Muchos creyentes enfrentan el día de hoy desanimo, en ocasiones también les falta fe, quizá porque no han visto el cumplimiento de sus promesas y empiezan a caer en un círculo vicioso del cual se vuelven víctimas; todo esto los lleva a un enfriamiento espiritual que termina apartándolos de Dios y de la iglesia; empiezan a dejar de congregarse, no oran, dejan de leer la Biblia, no tienen momentos de intimidad y comunión con Dios y al final ese espiritu inmundo trae “flojera espiritual” que luego los convierten en paralíticos.El libro de Juan 5 registra la sanidad del paralítico de Bethesda, este hombre se había acomodado tanto a esta condición que se volvió víctima de su propia condición y el Señor le hace la pregunta: ¿Quieres ser sano?…Cuando miro con detenimiento este pasaje, me doy cuenta que la respuesta a la sanidad de la parálisis tanto física, emocional y espiritual, está en el que la padece, tú eres el único que puede decidir si quedarse en esa condición o levantarse y seguir corriendo la carrera.Juan nos detalla la creencia religiosa popular que había surgido en relación con el estanque de Bethesda y que sirve para explicar el porqué había tantos enfermos reunidos a su alrededor: "Porque un ángel descendía de tiempo en tiempo al estanque, y agitaba el agua; y el que primero descendía al estanque después del movimiento del agua, quedaba sano de cualquier enfermedad que tuviese”. No debemos pensar que esta creencia fuera cierta, o al menos no hay nada en el texto que nos haga pensar que esto fuese real, esto era lo que creía el paralítico al que sanó Jesús, y otros muchos que estaban allí en una situación parecida; si lo pensamos bien, el "ángel que descendía de tiempo en tiempo al estanque" era bastante cruel, “todo lo contrario a la función de los ángeles del cielo”, porque aunque venía a sanarlos, los hacía esperar indefinidamente, para llegado el momento, obligarlos a luchar con todas sus dificultades para llegar al estanque antes que los otros. Podemos imaginarnos el patético espectáculo cuando por alguna razón comenzara a moverse el agua. De repente, aquella multitud de ciegos, cojos y paralíticos estarían luchando entre ellos, arrastrándose como pudieran, golpeándose unos contra otros en un esfuerzo desesperado por ser los primeros en llegar al agua. Este paralítico es tipo de personas impotentes para poder salir de su condición. rodeado de personas que están en la misma condición (todas enfermas), como almas sin salvación; paralítico (sin la posibilidad de moverse) y poder salir de su condición lo cual les imposibilita romper las cadenas que las atan. Quieren escapar de su actual condición, pero no pueden, tienen sus esperanzas cifradas en un estanque, en un golpe de suerte, en un por si acaso, en un vamos a ver que pasa, por tal razón es necesario dejar el estanque y dirigirse a la fuente de agua viva que salta para vida eterna.  En este caso, la fuente vino al estanque.¿QUIERES SER SANO? No era una pregunta obvia, era una pregunta necesaria, Jesús necesitaba saber si este hombre realmente quería salir de Bethesda y cambiar su condición actual, el Señor necesitaba saber si realmente este hombre ya estaba resignado a lo que le venía pasando en su vida en los últimos 38 años, hoy el Señor te pregunta: ¿Quieres?, entonces, Toma tu lecho y anda…La resignación es la hija de la frustración, 38 años de frustración marcaron negativamente la vida de este nombre, de tal manera que le impedía ver su milagro; muchas veces estamos tan acostumbrados a lo que estamos viviendo que lo consentimos en nuestra vida; la enfermedad, el dolor, la ruina, la escasez, la oscuridad, el desánimo, el dolor, trastornos de ansiedad, depresión, bipolaridad, trastornos compulsivos, trastornos causados por traumas emocionales, físicos, espirituales, en fin, la lista es larga…El Señor estaba abordando el problema en su misma raíz. Porque aunque nos pueda parecer extraño, hay muchas personas que están enfermas y prefieren continuar en su estado, ya que éste les atrae la simpatía, lastima y la ayuda de otros. Esto se percibe con total claridad cuando reflexionamos acerca del estado espiritual del hombre. ¿Cuántos hay que a pesar de tantos fracasos en la vida, no quieren acudir a Dios en busca de una solución a su situación? Viven sin poder escapar de su dilema personal, de los problemas y el vacío de su alma, y sin embargo se niegan a ser sanados moral y espiritualmente. A pesar de que se sienten totalmente insatisfechos con su situación, prefieren resignarse como excusa para no hacer nada y así seguir viviendo de la misma manera que les causa sus problemas. Por lo tanto, la pregunta con la que Jesús inició la conversación tenía como propósito que aquel hombre manifestara que realmente quería ser sanado.El paralítico había perdido toda esperanza de ser sanado, y le explica al Señor todos los problemas que encontraba para llegar a la única solución que él conocía. Después de tantos años de perseverar sin descanso en lo que no solucionaba su problema, había llegado a darse por vencido. Pero lo más grave de su estado era que cuando Jesús se presentó ante él, su frustración le impedía darse cuenta de que tenía delante de sí la verdadera solución a su situación. Por otro lado, también aprovechó la ocasión para dar rienda suelta a su amargura y culpar a otros, lo cierto es que así somos los seres humanos. En realidad, tal como aquí se nos presenta a este hombre, podemos decir que es un símbolo de la impotencia espiritual de todos los hombres, porque lo reconozcamos o no, todos nosotros somos totalmente incapaces de ayudarnos a nosotros mismos para cambiar las graves consecuencias que el pecado ha traído sobr...

Dixieland Veterans My dad loved his Dixieland music. Even when he had no idea who was performing it. This is a perfect album for that mindset, because this budget label doesn't even get all of the tunes listed correctly on the cover and label, let alone tell us who's performing on it. And even though the title of this episode leans toward anonymous musicians, today's technology might have helped. And then again. It might not have. "Xtra Cherries" An aspiring baseball player with a solid fastball, the Illinois-born Chip Znuff put down the glove in favor of the bass and he left home at 17 going west with his punk rock band D-Generation. The D Generation story is told best by Chip himself, so I'll leave that one to him, and I'll cover what happened after that band broke up. Licking his wounds from his first time around on the rock and roll train, Chip formed Enuff Z'Nuff in 1984. Inspired by everyone from The Rasberries to Cheap Trick to Squeeze, Enuff Z'Nuff had pop hearts filled with hooks, but they were marketed as glam metal dudes, which led them into that lane, but it was probably a misrepresentation of the band's real chops. If you listen to the music and and ignore the image, they come across more like a tougher version of Jellyfish. Nevertheless, they made it work; in spite of their image, hits from their debut self-titled album like Fly High Michelle and "New Thing" were catchy blasts of ragged psychedelia that found the band all over MTV. Their follow-up record Strength found them looking decidedly less glam and it garnered rave reviews from Rolling Stone and the Washington Post and they absolutely crushed it on Letterman. Over the course of their career, Enuff Z'Nuff has toured all over the world, been on Howard Stern numerous times, been featured on VH-1, played on the Jenny Jones show, had Little Steven sing their praises as one of the most underrated bands on the planet and have put out close to thirty albums, including greatest hits and live recordings. Although the band has had its share of tragedies, losing members like Derek Frigo and Rickey Parent and its share of personnel changes with singer Donnie Vie stepping away from the band on two separate occasions, Enuff Z'Nuff are survivors. Chip took over vocals in 2014 and the band has never sounded better. Their new album Xtra Cherries has a deep bench, featuring Steve Stevens, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Donnie Vie, Gunnar Nelson and Steven Adler, who Chip played with in Adler's Appetite. Romanos 13:7 “Pagad a todos lo que debéis: al que tributo, tributo; al que impuesto, impuesto; al que respeto, respeto; al que honra, honra”.Este es uno de temas mas importantes que los hijos de Dios tenemos que entender y comprender: La honra, es uno de los regalos mas grandes que el Señor nos ha dado, es el vínculo protector de las relaciones.La primera relación que el hombre experimenta en la vida es con los padres y la única manera de proteger esta relación es a través de la honra, Éxodo 20:12 “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días se alarguen en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da”, Mateo 15:3-4 “Respondiendo él, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros quebrantáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición? Porque Dios mandó diciendo: Honra a tu padre y a tu madre”, Efesios 6:2-3 “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, que es el primer mandamiento con promesa; para que te vaya bien, y seas de larga vida sobre la tierra”.Otra de las relaciones importantes que tenemos en el transcurso de nuestra vida es el matrimonio, con el cual conformamos un hogar; El apóstol Pablo declara en Hebreos 13:4 “Honroso sea en todos el matrimonio, y el lecho sin mancilla; pero a los fornicarios y a los adúlteros los juzgará Dios”. Sino hay honra, los matrimonios colapsan. Pero la honra en la familia no se limita a los cónyuges, va de los padres a los hijos y de los hijos a los padres, debemos honrarlos con las palabras y las acciones. (Podemos extender esta parte hablando de  las expresiones y palabras que usamos contra nuestro cónyuge y con nuestros hijos).Cuando se trata de Dios, Él espera que nosotros vivamos de tal manera que nuestra vida le honre, cuando no hay honra la vida se agrieta y se daña; honrar a Dios es aprender a darle el primer lugar en todo. Cuando le damos el primer lugar a Dios se activa un poder y una unción sobre natural en nuestras vidas, esto no se trata de dinero, se trata de un corazón que dice “No hay nada ni nadie mas importante que Dios”, el que honra a Dios no solo se esta beneficiando asi mismo, está beneficiando a sus próximas generaciones, por tal razón aprende a colocar a Dios en primer lugar y todo en tu vida va a ser transformado.Dios se revela al hombre en su conciencia, en su interior y en la creación de una manera clara y evidente, por tanto es imposible que el ser humano no pueda deducir y concluir que hay un creador detrás de todo lo creado; Romanos 1:20 dice "Porque las cosas invisibles de él, su eterno poder y deidad, se hacen claramente visibles desde la creación del mundo, siendo entendidas por medio de las cosas hechas, de modo que no tienen excusa”, el hombre no tiene excusa para no honrar a Dios.Por todo esto Pablo hace un reclamo a los Romanos, y hoy lo hace directamente a la iglesia “Aunque conocen a Dios, no lo honran como a Dios, ni le dan gracias” y añade que las consecuencias son evidentes: Se hicieron vanos en sus razonamientos y su necio corazón fue entenebrecido. Aquí hay dos aspectos importantes que enseñar a la iglesia, uno de ellos es honrar a Dios y el otro es la gratitud a Dios.¿Que es honrar a Dios? Es reconocerlo como el Dios soberano sobre toda la creación, como el ser de mayor dignidad, de mayor Gloria, de mayor autoridad y de mayor bondad, es glorificar a Dios exaltando sus atributos. Es muy fácil para nosotros ir a alabar a Dios y agradecerle por todo. Pero deshonrar a Dios es aun MÁS fácil; Salmos 36:1-4 “La iniquidad del impío me dice al corazón: No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos. Se lisonjea, por tanto, en sus propios ojos, de que su iniquidad no será hallada y aborrecida. Las palabras de su boca son iniquidad y fraude; Ha dejado de ser cuerdo y de hacer el bien. Medita maldad sobre su cama; Está en camino no bueno”.Y quiero mostrar lo que ocurrió tanto en el antiguo testamento con Nabucodonosor, asi como en el nuevo testamento con Herodes por no honrar a Dios.Nabucodonosor deshonró a Dios con solo hablar: “Habló el rey, y dijo: ¿No es ésta la gran Babilonia, que yo edifiqué para casa del reino, con la fuerza de mi poder, y para gloria de mi grandeza?... En la misma hora se cumplió la palabra sobre Nabucodonosor, y fue echado de entre los hombres; y comía hierba como los bueyes, y su cuerpo se bañaba con el rocío del cielo, hasta que su pelo creció como de águila, y sus uñas como de aves”; Daniel 4:29-33 “Al cabo de doce meses, paseando en el palacio real de Babilonia, habló el rey y dijo: ¿No es esta la gran Babilonia que yo edifiqué para casa real con la fuerza de mi poder, y para gloria de mi majestad? Aún estaba la palabra en la boca del rey, cuando vino una voz del cielo: A ti se te dice, rey Nabucodonosor: El reino ha sido quitado de ti; y de entre los hombres te arrojarán, y con las bestias del campo será tu habitación, y como a los bueyes te apacentarán; y siete tiempos pasarán sobre ti, hasta que reconozcas que el Altísimo tiene el dominio en el reino de los hombres, y lo da a quien él quiere. En la misma hora se cumplió la palabra sobre Nabucodonosor, y fue echado de entre los hombres; y comía hierba como los bueyes, y su cuerpo se mojaba con el rocío del cielo, hasta que su pelo creció como plumas de águila, y sus uñas como las de las aves”.Herodes deshonro a Dios y un ángel descendió y lo hirió y fue comido por los gusanos; Hechos 12:21-23 "Y un día señalado, Herodes, vestido de ropas reales, se sentó en el tribunal y les arengó. Y el pueblo aclamaba gritando: ¡Voz de Dios, y no de hombre! Al momento un ángel del Señor le hirió, por cuanto no dio la gloria a Dios; y expiró comido de gusanos”.Cuando en nuestro corazón hay un espíritu de deshonra nos convertimos en hombres amadores de sí mismos, amadores de los placeres más que de Dios, avaros, jactanciosos, soberbios, blasfemos, desobedientes a los padres, ingratos, irreverentes; 2 Timoteo 3:1-5 “También debes saber esto: que en los postreros días vendrán tiempos peligrosos. Porque habrá hombres amadores de sí mismos, avaros, vanagloriosos, soberbios, blasfemos, desobedientes a los padres, ingratos, impíos, sin afecto natural, implacables, calumniadores, intemperantes, crueles, aborrecedores de lo bueno, traidores, impetuosos, infatuados, amadores de los deleites más que de Dios, que tendrán apariencia de piedad, pero negarán la eficacia de ella; a estos evita”.Los cristianos debemos reconocer que todo lo que tenemos es un regalo, Dios nos ha dado todo: la vida, la salvación y todo lo que forma parte de la vida en este mundo y en el venidero. Cada día, cada momento, debería estar lleno de acciones de gracias. Dios es bueno, y todo lo que Él hace y otorga es para nuestro bien.Quiero mostrar a través de un relato Bíblico en el libro de 1 Reyes 17:8-24, el poder de la honra: La viuda de Sarepta, el milagro de la obediencia y la honra.Y quiero comenzar por el final: “La viuda de Sarepta se fue e hizo conforme a la palabra de Elías; y ella, él y su familia comieron durante muchos días. La harina de la tinaja no se agotó, ni se agotó el aceite de la vasija, conforme a la palabra que el Señor había hablado por medio de Elías”.La historia de la viuda de Sarepta comienza mientras está en la puerta recogiendo leña para poder ir a casa y preparar el último bocado de comida para ella y su hijo. Proverbios 12:3 “El hombre no se afirmará por medio de la impiedad; Mas la raíz de los justos no será removida”.Millones de creyentes hablan como si Dios fuera real y actúan como si no lo fuera, somos cristianos no por la manera como hablamos sino por la forma como actuamos; si en lo que tu crees no gobierna tu vida, entonces tu creencia es falsa y se convierte en una pseudo creencia, ya que nuestro sistema de creencia debemos mostrarla en todo momento en la vida práctica; en otras palabras: “Lo que yo creo es lo que yo vivo”.Vivimos en una generación que aprendió a hablar de Dios sin necesidad de depender de Él, nos volvimos hábiles para parecer cristianos sin vivir como verdaderos creyentes, nos gusta el mensaje del Evangelio, pero no sus exigencias, nos jactamos de conocer al Señor… pero evitamos poner toda nuestra confianza en Él y poner por obra sus mandatos y ordenanzas; el Señor lo declaró en Lucas 6:46-48 "¿Por qué me llamáis, Señor, Señor, y no hacéis lo que yo digo? Todo aquel que viene a mí, y oye mis palabras y las hace, os indicaré a quién es semejante. Semejante es al hombre que al edificar una casa, cavó y ahondó y puso el fundamento sobre la roca; y cuando vino una inundación, el río dio con ímpetu contra aquella casa, pero no la pudo mover, porque estaba fundada sobre la roca”.Hoy el Espíritu Santo nos confronta: ¿Estamos viviendo por fe de lo que creemos o por conveniencia de lo que necesitamos? A esto se le llama Fe Falsa:La fe falsa siempre tiene un plan B «por si acaso Dios no responde» entonces tengo otra opción bajo la manga, una estrategia oculta o un recurso inesperado que se puede usar en el momento oportuno para obtener lo deseado, pero la fe verdadera solo tiene un camino: confiar en Dios, sin buscar salidas alternativas. Para el que realmente cree, “es Dios… o nada”. Quien tiene una fe aparente puede defender lo que dice creer, pero nunca se pondrá en una situación donde su vida dependa por completo de esa fe. A todos nos llegará el momento en que solo nos quede Dios. La salud, el dinero, los amigos y cualquier refugio humano desaparecerán. Por eso, sería mejor pedirle a Dios desde ya que quite toda confianza falsa, que nos saque de nuestros escondites, y nos muestre si de verdad confiamos en Él.Todo esto debe hacernos reaccionar y hasta llegar a sentir el temor de Dios preguntándote:  ¿Tengo o quiero una fe tan fuerte? ¿Quiero que sea todo o nada? Es necesario que reflexionemos en lo que afirmaba el salmista en el Salmo 61:2:3 “Llévame a la Roca que es más alta que yo. Porque tú has sido mi refugio, y torre fuerte delante del enemigo”.El cimiento sobre el que construimos nuestras vidas es como un sistema de raíces que proporciona estabilidad y alimento a todo lo que hacemos. Esta es la Ley de las Raíces y los Frutos: Lo que está en la raíz (creencias, carácter, corazón) determina el fruto (acciones, hábitos, conducta), por lo tanto:La vida cristiana se construye desde adentro hacia afuera, como un árbol cuyo fruto depende de la calidad de su raíz, así como las raíces de un árbol proporcionan estabilidad y alimento, nuestra vida interior sostiene nuestra vida exterior. Colosenses 2:6-7 “Por tanto, de la manera que habéis recibido al Señor Jesucristo, andad en él; arraigados y sobre edificados en él, y confirmados en la fe, así como habéis sido enseñados, abundando en acciones de gracias”.Lo que creemos determina nuestra manera de vivir y nuestro carácter y lo que guardamos en el corazón se refleja en nuestros hábitos. Al final, lo que somos por dentro determina lo que hacemos por fuera, porque así como las raíces definen el fruto de un árbol, nuestra vida interior define nuestras acciones. Jeremías 17:8 “Porque será como el árbol plantado junto a las aguas, que junto a la corriente echará sus raíces, y no verá cuando viene el calor, sino que su hoja estará verde; y en el año de sequía no se fatigará, ni dejará de dar fruto”El cambio de vida se produce desde la raíz, no desde el fruto, por tal razón para redirigir los hábitos de comportamiento, debemos transformar los hábitos del corazón: Comportamiento, conducta, hábitos, creencia y carácter”.Para vivir nuestra vida cristiana al máximo debemos cultivar nuestras vidas bajo tierra, esto es trabajar en lo invisible, en lo interno, en lo que nadie más ve pero que sostiene todo lo demás. Es el proceso de fortalecer nuestro carácter, nuestra intimidad con Dios, nuestra obediencia en lo secreto y nuestras raíces espirituales.. Esto es lo que Proverbios quiere decir con "la raíz de los justos", la fuerza y la salud de nuestras raíces determinan el fruto que daremos. Si nuestras raíces son fuertes, no solo daremos mucho fruto, sino que también seremos firmes, fuertes y resilientes en medio de las tormentas que la vida nos depare. Pero si nuestras raíces son superficiales y débiles, seremos sacudidos e incluso destruidos cuando las tormentas nos azoten.Como dice Proverbios, «Nadie se afirma por la maldad». La palabra hebrea para «afirmar» es yikkon, y significa «firme, estable, seguro, anclado». Quienes rechazan la verdad de Dios y abrazan la maldad carecen de fundamento; quienes confían en Cristo tienen un fundamento fuerte y seguro.Nuestra relación con Dios es el fundamento de todo en la vida. Dios es la fuente de nuestra identidad y propósito. Él es la fuente de la verdad, los principios y fundamentos de nuestra vida, Él nos creó y nos define. No nos definen nuestras circunstancias, ni nuestro trabajo, ni nuestras posesiones, ni nuestra posición social. Nos define quiénes somos en Cristo.Sin Cristo, no hay fundamento. Sin Cristo, no podemos dar fruto duradero, 1 Corintios 3:10-11 "Conforme a la gracia de Dios que me ha sido dada, yo como perito arquitecto puse el fundamento, y otro edifica encima; pero cada uno mire cómo sobreedifica. Porque nadie puede poner otro fundamento que el que está puesto, el cual es Jesucristo”.Todo lo que se ha enseñado se traduce en una Palabra que declaró el Señor en el sermón de monte: "Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te es ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti; pues mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno. Y si tu mano derecha te es ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti; pues mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno" Mateo 5:29-30. Mateo 5 sigue llamando la atención hoy en día, y plantean la cuestión de hasta qué punto debemos tomar al pie de la letra los mandatos de Jesús en estos pasajes. ¿Quiere decir Jesús que debemos arrancarnos los ojos o cortarnos una mano si somos propensos a pecar? Jesús enfatiza en que debemos tener una “Fe Firme”, debemos estar dispuestos a hacer cambios radicales en nuestras vidas, y digo mas, en todas las áreas de nuestra vida: Espiritual, Emocional, Física, Sexual, Económica.El propósito de Jesús es magnificar la naturaleza atroz del pecado y la maldad. El pecado y la maldad es cualquier acción o pensamiento contrario al carácter de Dios. El resultado del pecado es la muerte, de la que Jesús quiere preservarnos. El pecado lleva a la gente al infierno, Apocalipsis 21:8 “Pero los cobardes e incrédulos, los abominables y homicidas, los fornicarios y hechiceros, los idólatras y todos los mentirosos tendrán su parte en el lago que arde con fuego y azufre, que es la muerte segunda” y eso hace que el pecado sea algo que hay que evitar a toda costa. Jesús dice que “sea lo que sea lo que te hace pecar, toma medidas drásticas para sacarlo de tu vida”: "Por tanto, si tu mano o tu pie te es ocasión de caer, córtalo y échalo de ti; mejor te es entrar en la vida cojo o manc...

"Strange Kind Of Paradise" Formed in Leeds at the dawn of the '80s, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry were weaned on the MC5 and Wire, but their brooding melodies and dark and churning instrumentation got them lumped in with the Goth scene. Their 1985 debut Talk About The Weather went to #3 on the NME indie chart and to this day remains an undisputed classic. With John Peel a huge fan and their own fans affectionately referring to them as the Lorries, they quickly followed that up with fabulous albums like Paint Your Wagon, Nothing Wrong, Blow and Blasting Off. Ironically, 1992's Blasting Off sounded like a band taking flight, but at that point they were a band breaking up. Well, not really breaking up, but heading into a deep hiatus. The band's braintrust Chris Reed surfaced in 2004 with a few new tracks and the Lorries did tour that year and into 2005. But aside from the Thunder In A Black Cave live DVD and Reed's acoustic record Minimal Animal, the Lorries were silent for more than twenty more years. Until now. Long considered to be a holy grail of sorts for Lorries fans, Strange Kind Of Paradise is the band's sixth and final album. Brewing for two decades, the band completed work on the album and it'll be the last word for the Lorries. A wicked blast of angular beauty, dark melodicism and grinding intensity, Strange Kind Of Paradise is a brilliant final chapter that ends with an artful and deeply satisfying crescendo. "High In My Balloon" When it comes to the Grammy-nominated musician and composer Willie Aron, he's worked with so many people, it might be faster just to list the people he hasn't worked with. Born in Southern California, Aron studied classical piano before falling in love with the Beatles and new wave and teaching himself guitar. He co-founded The Balancing Act who signed to I.R.S., put out three excellent albums, toured with 10,000 Maniacs and They Might Be Giants before calling it a day in 1989. After the band broke up, Aron became an in-demand session musician and over the years he's collaborated with Leonard Cohen, The Dream Syndicate, Rickie Lee Jones, Milo Binder, Susanna Hoffs, Brian Wilson, Michael Penn and Peter Himmelman. Speaking of Brian Wilson, yes, that's Wilie in Love & Mercy and he was also a consultant for the Beatles doc Eight Days A Week. Willie also has worked as a film and television composer, a producer of children's music and a composer for commercials and music libraries. Additionally, he helped develop the curriculum and write original songs for a Los Angeles-based children's music space and company called Play Music (play-losangeles.com) and he also earned a a Master's Degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles.
