"The Bus Routes Of South London" The London-born Jah Wobble is one of the most legendary musicians on the planet. The celebrated bassist burst onto the radar with PiL, playing on the first two albums--Public Image: First Issue and Metal Box--both of which remain undisputed classics. After leaving the band, Wobble stayed busy, playing in The Human Condition and on the Snake Charmer EP with The Edge and with his own band Invaders Of The Heart. Wobble left the industry for a few years working for a while with The London Underground--more on that in a minute--but in the late '80s a newly sober Wobble reformed the Invaders and they put out a string of winning albums like Rising Above Bedlam and Take Me To God. And from there? Well, from there, he just kept working with a list of impressive folks like Sinead O'Connor, The Orb, Ginger Baker, Dolores O'Riordan, Massive Attack, Gavin Friday, Brian Eno, Bjork and Primal Scream. Wobble has also put out a memoir called Memoirs Of A Geezer, which is such a great read, he finished his university degree at the University of London, wrote book reviews for the Independent, wrote a book of poetry, started teaching, played in a band with his sons, and played with the Chinese Dub Orchestra. This list only tells a percentage of the story; Jah Wobble is a man whose lane is not having a lane. He's one of the greatest dub musicians of all time, but he's also someone who's curious about the world and his curiosity has found him exploring ambient music, dance usic, post-punk, world music, dub, Chinese folk, English Folk, and industrial music. His album Old Fashioned Ways with reggae hero Ken Boothe came out in 2025 and it's a glorious and affecting listen. "Measure Of A Man" The North Carolina-born Clay Aiken rose to fame on the strength of his record breaking appearance on American Idol, but if you just think of him in terms of that show, you're not getting the full picture. At all. With seven albums under his belt, the golden-voiced Aiken has sold close to ten million albums worldwide, was the first artist whose first single hit #1, hosted two network television specials, toured with Kelly Clarkson, appeared on Broadway in Spamalot and for a Christmas show with Ruben Studdard, wrote a memoir, sang the National Anthem at the World Series, and appeared on Scrubs, SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, All My Children and Days Of Our Lives. Keep in mind this is a partial list. Outside of music, Aiken co-founded the National Inclusion Project which helps advocate for children with disabilities, he's a UNICEF ambassador and in 2014 he ran for congress. 1 Corintios 4:2 "Ahora bien, se requiere de los administradores, que cada uno sea hallado fiel”.Tenemos que aprender a ser buenos administradores de nuestra vida, y nuestra vida contiene nuestro pasado, nuestro presente y nuestro futuro. El pasado se encuentra en nuestra mente y nuestro corazón, nuestro presente debemos entregarlo a Dios y nuestro futuro le pertenece a Dios.El ser humano, hoy por hoy, vive en un constante estado de caos cuando se trata de pensar en lo que fue nuestro pasado, cuando se trata de mirar lo que está pasando en nuestro presente y cuando se trata de proyectar lo que viene hacia nuestro futuro.Cuando una persona es altamente atormentada por el ayer y dice: “Es que usted no sabe lo que yo me equivoqué, no sabe lo que yo hice; a veces me persigue la culpa, el señalamiento... tengo cosas del ayer que yo no quiero que salgan a la luz”, eso puede generar en la vida exceso de pasado. Da como resultado, en muchos casos, depresión.Por otro lado, cuando pensamos hacia el futuro, entonces estamos preocupados: “¿Cómo voy a pagar el semestre de mis hijos? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi hogar? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi ministerio? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi proyectos?”. Esa abundancia de futuro es conocida como ansiedad. Cuando hay mucho pasado y hay mucho futuro, el presente entra en caos y aparece el famoso estrés. Hay gente que no está tranquila: Cuando mira hacia atrás, no encuentra paz; cuando mira su presente, no encuentra paz; y cuando mira hacia el futuro, tampoco encuentra paz.Hoy le voy a mostrar a través de la Palabra, un versículo en el que Dios habló de todo esto, me sorprendió leer un profeta en el que veo que, para Dios, los tiempos siempre están: el presente, el pasado y el futuro. Libro de Isaías 46:9-13 (NTV):“Recuerden las cosas que hice en el pasado, pues sólo yo soy Dios; yo soy Dios y no hay otro como yo. Sólo yo puedo predecir el futuro antes de que suceda. Todos mis planes se cumplirán porque yo hago lo que deseo. Llamaré a una veloz ave de rapiña desde el oriente y a un líder de tierras lejanas para que venga y haga lo que yo le ordeno. He dicho lo que haría y lo cumpliré. Escúchame, pueblo terco, tú que estás tan lejos de actuar con justicia; pues estoy listo para rectificarlo todo. Y escucha esto: no en un futuro lejano, sino ahora mismo, estoy listo para salvar a Jerusalén y mostrarle mi gloria a Israel”.Dios habla del pasado y dice: “No traigan a memoria lo que pasó ayer, no permitan que lo que sucedió en el pasado les haga daño; más bien, recuerden todo lo bueno que yo he hecho por ustedes”, también afirma en Isaías 48:18-19 “No os acordéis de las cosas pasadas, ni traigáis a memoria las cosas antiguas. He aquí que yo hago cosa nueva; pronto saldrá a luz; ¿no la conoceréis? Otra vez abriré camino en el desierto, y ríos en la soledad”. Del futuro dice: “Soy el único que puede predecir el futuro”, en Jeremías 29:11 "Porque yo sé los planes que tengo para ustedes —afirma el Señor—, planes de bienestar y no de calamidad, a fin de darles un futuro y una esperanza", y en Isaías 46:9-10: "Yo soy Dios, y no hay otro Dios, y nada hay semejante a mí, que anuncio lo por venir desde el principio, y desde la antigüedad lo que aún no era hecho; que digo: Mi consejo permanecerá, y haré todo lo que quiero”.Y del presente dice: “Voy a poner en orden sus vidas, pero no en el futuro; lo voy a hacer ahora mismo, en el presente”. Eso es lo que Dios ordena y promete a cada uno de nosotros, pero hoy tenemos que tomar acciones precisas, para que cada promesa y cada palabra se cumplan en nuestras vidas:Dios es Dios de promesas,  Dios es fiel y siempre cumple lo que promete, no por capricho, sino por su naturaleza de ser veraz, justo y amoroso, ofreciendo vida, esperanza y cumplimiento a quienes confían en Él. ¿Qué implica que Dios sea un Dios de promesas?Fidelidad inmutable: Dios no es un ser humano que miente o se arrepiente; su palabra es segura y se cumple.Veracidad: Su naturaleza de verdad garantiza que sus promesas son reales y dignas de confianza.Poder y conocimiento: Como un Dios omnipotente y omnisciente, tiene el poder y el conocimiento para llevar a cabo todo lo que promete.Amor y gracia: Sus promesas son un reflejo de su amor, ofreciendo perdón, vida plena, guía y un futuro eterno a quienes creen en Él. Estoy seguro que, luego de esta palabra, en tu corazón va a venir sanidad y vas a tener paz en el nombre de Jesús.¿Cómo afrontar el pasado en mi vida? ¿Cómo vivir entendiendo que hay cosas que están en el ayer y que no podemos cambiar? ¿Cómo vivir, comprendiendo que hay experiencias, cosas que tuvimos o cosas que nos faltaron? Muchas veces estas experiencias empiezan a traer consecuencias a nuestro hoy, a nuestro ahora, muchas veces cuando usted mira hacia atrás, y nos lamentamos, algunos hasta se sienten culpables porque dicen: “Si yo hubiera sido más sabio, si yo hubiera sido más inteligente, si yo hubiera escuchado más a Dios, mi presente no estaría tan colapsado por los errores de mi pasado”, otros dicen: “Si yo hubiera hecho esto o lo otro, no me hubiera sucedido lo que estoy viviendo en el presente”.Pero hoy te quiero mostrar tres cosas que la Biblia nos enseña que debemos hacer con el pasado:Sana lo que quedó pendiente¿Por qué es tan importante la sanidad para Dios? Es importante que las cuentas del pasado estén saldadas; para Dios es importante que aquellos pendientes del ayer, delante de su presencia, estén al día. ¿Sabe por qué? Porque cuando Dios va a subir a una persona a un nuevo nivel, primero le sana el pasado, para que el pasado nunca le vaya a frenar el presente, y mucho menos frenarle su futuro.Veo la historia de Jacob y Esaú. La Biblia dice que por problemas familiares ellos se separaron. Jacob se va a trabajar a la casa de su tío, el tramposo Labán, y Esaú se queda con su padre Isaac. Dice la palabra del Señor que, en medio de esta separación, a Jacob le va difícil; le toca una vida complicada. Su tío es un tramposo: lo engaña por 14 años, lo hace trabajar más de la cuenta, veinte años de trabajo sin recibir nada a cambio y a pesar de eso Dios lo prospera, lo bendice y todo lo que le prometió, se lo dio; en Génesis 28:20-22 “E hizo Jacob voto, diciendo: Si fuere Dios conmigo, y me guardare en este viaje en que voy, y me diere pan para comer y vestido para vestir, y si volviere en paz a casa de mi padre, Jehová será mi Dios. Y esta piedra que he puesto por señal, será casa de Dios; y de todo lo que me dieres, el diezmo apartaré para ti”, Jacob hace un voto condicional, después de soñar con una escalera al cielo y recibir promesas de Dios sobre su descendencia y la tierra; y comienza el cumplimiento de la promesa en Génesis 30:43 dice: "Y se enriqueció el varón muchísimo, y tuvo muchas ovejas, y siervas y siervos, y camellos y asnos"En medio de los procesos del pasado, muchos de nosotros hemos decidido reconstruirnos, aquí hay gente que, aunque falló en el ayer, se ha esforzado en su presente por tener una mejor historia. Muchos testifican: “Tal vez no tuve un papá, pero me pude superar; tal vez cometí errores en el ayer, pero me he podido levantar”. Eso fue lo que le pasó a Jacob, a pesar de que su tío engañó, Dios hizo que a Jacob le fuera bien. La razón es que “Aunque hemos tenido un pasado difícil, quien decide hacer las cosas de manera correcta se va a levantar en el nombre de Jesús”.Cuando finalmente Jacob tiene su bendición y sale de la casa de su tío, Dios se le aparece en Padán Aram. “Merry Christmas, Emily” David Lowery does so many things, his CV needs a sequel. He's a professor, a mathematician, a writer, a musician, a producer and an entrepreneur. He's also the singer of two of my all-time favorite bands: Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. Let's start with the former. Lowery formed Camper Van Beethoven when he was a student at UC Santa Cruz in the early '80s. I was so obsessed with Camper Van when I was in high school I cut class to buy their new album--but I had the wrong day, so I cut class the next day to get it. Totally worth it, by the way. Camper Van Beethoven put out a handful of genius albums likeOur Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart and Telephone Free Landslide Victory before temporarily disbanding in 1990. Lowery didn't miss a beat and formed Cracker with guitarist Johnny Hickman and they put out a handful of genius albums like Kerosene Hat and The Golden Age, logged a #1 Modern Rock track with "Teen Angst (What The World Needs Now)" and scored three platinum albums. This is only a partial history, by the way; but I would recommend reading up on both bands because they have fascinating histories.Lowery has produced everyone from Counting Crows to Sparklehorse, founded Sound of Music studios, was a seed investor in Reverb.com (), knocked out his PhD and was named a Global IP Champion by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A ferocious advocate for artist's rights, among other things, Lowery launched a pair of class actions alleging major streaming services had failed to properly license and account to independent songwriters. Lowery currently teaches the economics and finance of the music business at the University of Georgia.An authentic career-spanning collection that boasts re-recordings, demos, b-sides and live takes that have never been heard, ‘Alternative History: A Cracker Retrospective' is out now. It's a deep and privileged dive into the rich and vast Cracker cataloge and to say it's a treat falls short of the mark. It's a musical treasure chest. "Shine On" Formed in Seattle in the late '80s, Sweet Water got their start under the moniker SGM. Comprised of childhood friends from the private Bush School, which we talk about a lot in this episode, SGM played with Nirvana and The Melvins and their 1988 Aggression album was produced by Jack Endino and was lauded by Sub Pop's Bruce Pavitt. A thrashy blast of American post-punk SGM underwent a few lineup changes, recruited a few new members and re-named themselves Sweet Water. Their 1992 self-titled indie album got them signed to Atlantic where they put out another self-titled album. They moved to EastWest Records, put out the Superfriends record, which was a catchy blast of glam, grunge and hard rock and from there, things get a tad confusing. Legal issues held the band in abeyance, so they played under the name Parc Boys with a C, put out a record, went back to being Sweet Water, recorded an album that was supposed to come out on the Enclave label but didn't and instead was released independently. Sweet Water took a break and didn't put any new music out until their fabulous 2009 effort Clear The Tarmac. Since then, they've put out EPs like Dance Floor Kills and their brand new long player Shine On. An infectious, hook-filled album that's rife with melodic muscle and hooks galore, Shine On is a shimmering effort that proves Sweet Water just keep getting better. Now, I mentioned The Bush School and for good reason--that Seattle school is kind of the secret hero of the Sweet Water story and you'll see why in a second. I'll let the fellas tell you everything, but let me say this: when the foundational education is one that fosters artistic freedom, students feel like they can do anything because they're not self-conscious, they're deeply brave and they're not afraid to make bold strikes out there in the world. It's all about the Denver band The Apples in Stereo, who began in the early 90s and were part of the Elephant 6 Collective alongside Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, of Montreal, and more. Santiago 3:4 “Mirad también las naves; aunque tan grandes, y llevadas de impetuosos vientos, son gobernadas con un muy pequeño timón por donde el que las gobierna quiere”.Hoy quiero comenzar haciéndonos una pregunta que define no solo nuestro presente, sino nuestro destino final: ¿Quién tiene el timón de tu vida? Nuestra existencia es como un barco que emprende un viaje sobre aguas que cambian constantemente. A veces navegamos en mares tranquilos, tiempos de paz donde todo fluye y el gozo nos inunda; pero de pronto, la temporada cambia. El mar se agita de la nada y aparecen tormentas donde creemos que saldremos hechos pedazos. El punto clave es que la vida de todos los que van en el barco depende de quien lleva el timón, porque el timón es el que le dice al barco hacia dónde dirigirse.La realidad es que, muchas veces, nuestro barco va lleno de timoneles que representan las voces del mundo y no sabemos a quién obedecer. Es lo que sucede cuando abres las redes sociales, alguien dice que una fruta es maravillosa por sus vitaminas, otro dice que es veneno por la fructosa, otro que solo se come al desayuno y otro que mejor ni comprarla. Al final, confundidos, no sabemos si tirarla a la basura o comerla deshidratada. Así está nuestra vida hoy, llena de timoneles queriendo dar órdenes para dirigir nuestro barco ya que, quien tenga el timón será quien fije tu rumbo, y si el timón lo ha tenido el timonel equivocado, terminarás en lugares donde nunca debiste estar, por eso es importante preguntarnos ¿Quién está timoneando tu vida? Porque todo lo que vives y todo lo que haces es el resultado de una decisión, aquel que va en el timón, es el que lleva el control de tu vida.Es importante que entiendas que una tormenta no destruye un barco, un barco está diseñado para sobrevivir a ellas. Lo que destruye el barco es el timonel. Un buen timonel usa la tormenta a favor, decide cuándo guardar las velas, cuándo aligerar la carga o cuándo cambiar el rumbo. Pero un barco con varios timoneles a bordo dirigiendo el barco, no avanza ni en aguas tranquilas. (Este texto es por si lo quieres adaptar a la charla, de lo contrario, pásalo de largo) Muchos están atrapados en lo que Robert Kiyosaki en su libro "Padre Rico, Padre Pobre, se refiere a la rutina en la que muchas personas se encuentran atrapadas en su vida, donde trabajan duro en empleos tradicionales con la esperanza de obtener un aumento de sueldo, una promoción o un mejor puesto, pero a menudo sin lograr un verdadero progreso financiero o satisfacción personal. Imagina por un momento a las ratas corriendo en una rueda giratoria. A pesar de todo su esfuerzo y energía, en realidad, no llegan a ninguna parte. Este es el sentimiento detrás de la "carrera de la rata". Es una forma de describir esa sensación de estar siempre ocupado, trabajando duro, pero sin sentir que realmente avanzas hacia tus metas o sueños. Es como si estuvieran atrapados en un ciclo sin fin de trabajar, ganar dinero, gastarlo y luego trabajar aún más para pagar las cuentas, sin lograr una verdadera libertad financiera o satisfacción personal. Personas que no salen de lo mismo, siguen en los mismos círculos, llevan años viviendo lo mismo y en lo mismo, nunca salen del mismo círculo vicioso, porque el que timonea no sabe dirigir y te tiene dando vueltas en círculos en medio del inmenso mar.Quiero que identifiques cuales son los timoneles que intentan robar el control de tu barco:El Alma: El alma es el epicentro de las emociones, de los sentimientos, del intelecto, la memoria, la voluntad, la capacidad de tomar decisiones, todo lo que recuerdas en tu vida está en el alma, y muchas veces el alma es el timón de tu vida. Cuando tu vida es regida o dirigida por emociones, sentimientos, por recuerdos, te lleva al lugar y al destino equivocado.El Salmo 42:5 dice: “¿Por qué te abates, oh alma mía, Y te turbas dentro de mí? Espera en Dios...”. El abatimiento es la incertidumbre de no saber qué hacer, y no saber a donde ir, y te hace tomar decisiones por impulsos. Es la persona que, en un arranque emocional, deja su relación y, cuando quiere volver, ya hay alguien más en su lugar.Un ejemplo claro de personas que se dejan dirigir por el timonel del alma, es cuando sirven al Señor y creen que "castigan" a Dios dejando de servir o de ir a la iglesia, pero solo se dañan a sí mismos. Si el alma gobierna, serás como Saúl: un día movido por el celo, otro por la envidia, otro por la inseguridad.Mucha gente le suelta el timón de su vida a la amargura, al dolor o a los recuerdos y vivencias: “Me aíslo, me alejo, no hablo con nadie, todo me cae mal, todo me molesta, por todo gruño, por todo me quiero alejar”.El Cuerpo:Muchas personas son movidas por los sensores del cuerpo, la Biblia lo llama "La ley de los miembros" Romanos 6:12-13 “No reine, pues, el pecado en vuestro cuerpo mortal, de modo que lo obedezcáis en sus concupiscencias; ni tampoco presentéis vuestros miembros al pecado como instrumentos de iniquidad, sino presentaos vosotros mismos a Dios como vivos de entre los muertos, y vuestros miembros a Dios como instrumentos de justicia”. ¿Cuántas personas son dominadas por el oído? Muchos se deleitan en oír chismes, tienen comezón de oír, quieren saberlo todo, y lo que no saben se lo imaginan o se lo inventan, y muchos saben a dónde ir a picar para sacar información, porque su cuerpo tiene el timón.Hay gente que tiene el timón de su vida plasmado en la lengua; Santiago 3:5-6 "Así también la lengua es un miembro pequeño, pero se jacta de grandes cosas. He aquí, ¡cuán grande bosque enciende un pequeño fuego! Y la lengua es un fuego, un mundo de maldad. La lengua está puesta entre nuestros miembros, y contamina todo el cuerpo, e inflama la rueda de la creación, y ella misma es inflamada por el infierno” Tan pequeña y lo destruye todo, tan pequeña y lo manipula todo.¿Sabe por qué Dios hizo la lengua sin hueso? Porque si le hubiera puesto un hueso, muchos vivieran en ortopedia, con la lengua enyesada de tanto usarla sin control ni medida, si tu tienes problemas con la lengua, masque chicle, para que le dé vuelta el chicle y no le dé vuelta a la lengua.Ahora imagínese a alguien que el timón de su vida sea el cuerpo y tenga problemas en el oír, en el hablar, y en el ver, va ser guiado por impulsos, dice la Biblia que esa persona va a obedecer a la concupiscencia y va a vivir cometiendo errores, cometiendo errores, cometiendo errores, y va a volver a cometer el mismo error, porque el impulso de la concupiscencia es quien manda.Espíritus Inmundos: Muchas veces hay demonios que tienen el control de tu vida, potestades que tienen el control o el timón de tu vida, las decisiones que tomas no las tomas ni por guianza divina, ni por voz profética, sino son dirigidas por espíritus inmundos que te llevan a hacer lo que quieren y que te conducen a donde quieren porque el que tiene el timón define el rumbo y el destino. Así que hay lugares donde tú llegaste que no debías de haber llegado y lugares donde estuviste que no debiste haber estado y situaciones que viviste que no debiste haber vivido, porque espíritus inmundos tomaron el timón de tu vida.Dice la Biblia en Lucas 8:27 “Al llegar él a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad, endemoniado desde hacía mucho tiempo; y no vestía ropa, ni moraba en casa, sino en los sepulcros” Hay comportamientos que no son normales, que son demoníacos. Hay gente que el timón de su vida lo tienen espíritus inmundos. ¿Qué hacían los espíritus inmundos con el gadar...

Génesis 3:1 “La cual dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios os ha dicho: No comáis de todo árbol del huerto?”.Uno de los mayores conflictos espirituales que vivimos no está afuera, sino aquí, en el oído. No en lo que vemos, sino es lo que oímos. Porque todo lo que gobierna nuestra vida entra primero por una voz. Hay momentos en las que pareciera que la vida entera se convierte en un coro de voces: unas gritan, otras susurran, unas prometen, otras confunden; voces externas que nos dicen que la vida es nuestra, que la identidad está en la apariencia, que la Palabra de Dios es anticuada, que no necesitamos de nadie más; y voces internas que nos aplastan con culpa, que nos dicen que lo que hicimos no tiene perdón, que no vale la pena intentarlo de nuevo, que mejor nos escondamos y dejemos de luchar. Pero ninguna de esas voces viene del cielo. Son voces que buscan una sola cosa: controlar el oído para controlar la vida.Y en medio de este ruido moderno —ruido de redes sociales, ruido de información, ruido de tecnología— hay un mensajero oculto. Un mensajero que nunca se cansa, un mensajero que repite ideas, que moldea pensamiento, que influye emociones y que fácilmente puede convertirse en una autoridad falsa: “Las redes sociales”, no son solo una herramienta, son un púlpito. La tecnología no es solo un avance: es un predicador. Y ese predicador no siempre anuncia verdad. Produce adicción, obsesión, superficialidad, ideologías torcidas y pensamientos fragmentados, por eso muchos la llaman “arma de distracción masiva”, y, tristemente, muchos cristianos la consumen igual que el mundo, escuchan más su voz que la de Dios. Por eso la pregunta del Espíritu sigue siendo relevante: ¿A quién estás escuchando?, porque de la voz que escuchamos depende la vida que vivimos.Y esta batalla que tú y yo vivimos hoy no es nueva. Se libró por primera vez en el huerto del Edén. La Escritura nos dice en Génesis 3:1-9 que, cuando Dios puso a Adán y Eva en el huerto, ellos conocían una sola voz: la voz del Señor. No había muerte, no había enfermedad, no había confusión, no había distracción. La única voz que sonaba era la del Creador. No sabemos cuántos años pasaron en esa condición, quizá siglos enteros, pero lo que sí sabemos es que, mientras el hombre solo escuchó a Dios, todo estuvo en orden.Un día apareció una voz nueva. Una voz que no tenía historia con ellos. Una voz que nunca había creado nada. Una voz que no tenía autoridad. Una voz que no tenía amor. Solo tenía astucia. Y esa voz encontró un oído dispuesto. Y lo primero que hizo no fue ordenarlos, no fue gritarles, no fue atacarlos… fue hablarles. Satanás no necesitó un ejército, ni una tormenta, ni un desastre… solo necesitó una voz. Y lo primero que cuestionó no fue el fruto, ni el huerto, ni el propósito… cuestionó la palabra de Dios: “¿Conque Dios os ha dicho…?”El enemigo siempre buscará entrar por el oído. Porque la guerra espiritual no se pierde cuando pecamos; se pierde cuando escuchamos lo que no deberíamos escuchar. Eva nunca había hablado antes de ese momento. La primera vez que Eva levantó su voz fue para responderle a la serpiente. La serpiente no solo la tentó; le ofreció voz y voto, le ofreció una opinión independiente, una voz que se levantaba sin obediencia, sin cobertura y sin sujeción, en otras palabras, se levantaba en rebeldía contra “El Creador”. La voz de Eva se escuchó por primera vez, cuando prestó su oído para escuchar lo incorrecto. Y lo único que Eva tenía que decir era un rotundo “No”.Quiero hacer un paréntesis para hablar de lo que ocurrió en Lucas 4; Lucas 4:3  “Entonces el diablo le dijo, si eres el hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se convierta en pan. Jesús le respondió, escrito está, no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre”. ¿Sabe qué me llama la atención? Que satanás no le importó el ayuno de Jesús. Cuando Jesús tuvo hambre, él se presentó. Él no llegó antes de que Jesús comenzara a ayunar para evitar que Jesús ayunara, no, Jesús estaba ayunando. Jesús estaba con Dios y a Satanás no le importaba eso, a él le importaba destruirle la identidad por medio de una simple duda “Si eres el hijo de Dios…”.¿Sabe qué estaba haciendo Satanás? Estaba hablándole al oído cuando ninguna otra voz le hablaba. Satanás llega al desierto a tentar a Jesús queriendo establecer un diálogo, “Si eres…”, fue una pregunta desafiante.¿Cuántas veces has caído porque el diablo te desafía y tu caes en su juego? Cuando el diablo viene a hacerte una pregunta desafiante, tenemos que aprender a decir “NO”. Satanás vino a decirle a Jesús “Si eres el hijo de Dios” y Jesús le dijo “No voy a hacer lo que tú me pides”, “No voy a caer en tu juego”, “No voy a prestarte el oído”, “Yo no creo lo que tú dices”.El problema más grande no es la serpiente, ni Satanás; es el oído.La fe viene por el oír, pero la incredulidad también.La obediencia entra por el oír, pero la rebeldía también.La santidad entra por el oír, pero la caída también.Y muchos de los dolores que hoy arrastramos son consecuencia de haber escuchado una voz que nunca debimos permitir. Muchas lágrimas, muchas heridas, muchos errores se habrían evitado con un “no” a tiempo. No al pecado, no a la relación equivocada, no a la conversación equivocada, no a la tentación que parecía pequeña. Pero no supimos decir no, porque queríamos agradar, porque queríamos encajar, porque no queríamos incomodar. Y cuando no decimos no, terminamos diciendo un “sí” que nos lleva a la destrucción.El problema más grande que tenemos está en nuestro oído. La fe viene por el oír, pero la incredulidad también viene por el oír, y todo lo que nosotros tenemos que aprender es decirle a lo que viene a hablarnos a nuestro oído es un “No rotundo”, no le preste el oído al diablo, si tu oído no es basurero, no permitas que nadie te eche basura. Hay momentos donde uno tiene que aprender a decir a la gente “No”. Nuestra identidad está en Cristo, pero hemos escuchado tantas cosas a las que no le dijimos “no”, y hemos perdido la identidad en Cristo.La serpiente hizo con Eva lo mismo que hace hoy. Primero sembró duda: “¿Conque Dios dijo…?” Luego sembró negación: “No morirán.” Y finalmente sembró mentira contra el carácter de Dios: “Dios no quiere darte lo mejor; te quiere limitar.” Ese es el espíritu que sigue operando en este tiempo. La voz que dice: “Esto no es tan malo”, “Sigue tu propio corazón”, “Haz lo que sientes”, “Tu cuerpo es tuyo”, “No necesitas obedecer”, y cuando dejamos entrar esas voces, inevitablemente terminamos como Adán y Eva: viendo lo agradable a los ojos, deseando lo que no debemos, tomando lo que Dios prohibió, comiendo lo que parecía inocente, y después sintiendo la vergüenza que viene después del pecado.La gracia, el amor y la bondad de Dios fueron cuestionados por la serpiente y Adán y Eva mordieron el anzuelo. Pero, contrario a lo que la serpiente sugirió, Dios está lleno de gracia, amor y bondad y Su carácter se demuestra cuando vuelve a hablarles, luego de lo que habían hecho: “Y oyeron la voz de Jehová Dios que se paseaba en el huerto, al aire del día; y el hombre y su mujer se escondieron de la presencia de Jehová Dios entre los árboles del huerto. Mas Jehová Dios llamó al hombre, y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás tú?» Génesis 3:8-9.En medio de su pecado, Dios los buscó y les habló una vez más. Y aún cuando habló palabras duras pero justas contra su desobediencia, también les dio la promesa de traer redención a la humanidad: “Pondré enemistad entre tú y la mujer, y entre tu simiente y su simiente; Él te herirá en la cabeza, Y tú lo herirás en el talón”, Génesis 3:15.

"Black Butterflies" The Vancouver-raised Rebecca Foon grew up with parents who were artists and activists, so it's no surprise that she became an artist and an activist herself. Let's start with the artist part. The Juno-award winning cellist, singer and composer Rebecca Foon has been in so many bands it's hard to keep track, so this is a partial list. No stranger to the post-rock and experimental world, Foon has been in Set Fire To Flames, Fifths Of Seven, A Silver Mt. Zion and the Gorecki Symphony Of Sorrow with Colin Stetson. She's also recorded under the Saltland moniker and she's the co-founder of the modern chamber ensemble Esmerine, whose 2013 Dalmak record won them a Juno. Under her own name Foon put out Waxing Moon in 2020 and the follow-up is the rather stunning new album Black Butterflies. Filled with sonorous vocals, inventive percussion and wondrous, sneaky rhythms, the reflective trip-hop groove of Black Butterflies summons the work of everyone from Massive Attack to Portishead. Redolent with rhythmic precision, musical dexterity and the kind of sonic architecture that builds worlds in the sky, Black Butterflies is a dose of real magic. The first music ever recorded in the multi-track format in Ethiopia came about from a Swedish national living in Addis Ababa who offered use of his four-track recorder to a group of Ethio-Jazz workhorses named Ibex Band. The Ibex boys welcomed the opportunity and set up shop in the empty ballroom of a hotel. For two days they made magic that would lay dormant for close to fifty years before a formal release this past April. What a gift.

On this lovely pilot episode of my new radio style podcast, I talk shop about the new direction and my ambition with this endeavour... I wanted to make an all-inclusive space on the internet for all of my thoughts. And I have lots of them… from all the things that interest me, like sports, music, philosophy, communication, leadership, fitness… you name it…without any care for what I should do for business. I realized long ago that I'm deathly allergic to labels, boxes and cages, so this weekly podcast is my answer to the mainstream “just be one thing” marketing mentality”.

2 Timoteo 3:13 “Mas los malos hombres y los engañadores irán de mal en peor, engañando y siendo engañados”.Al principio el hombre, un ser tripartito era una sola unidad, con la caída de hombre se rompe la unidad y comienza a desarrollar su carácter con base en sus emociones, sus sentimientos y su conocimiento. De todo lo que el hombre recibe a través de sus vivencias y sus experiencias en todas las áreas de su vida, lo aleja cada vez más y más del carácter de Dios.Uno de las consecuencias de alejarse cada vez más del carácter de Dios es el impregnarse del  carácter malsano o comúnmente llamado “Mal genio”, a menudo pensamos que el mal genio es una explosión, algo que estalla hacia afuera y arrasa con todo a su paso. Pero la realidad es más profunda y dolorosa: el mal genio es, ante todo, una implosión. El daño real comienza adentro, devastando el alma de la persona iracunda mucho antes de que toque a los demás. La primera víctima de la ira siempre somos nosotros mismos.Para entender esto, imaginemos la figura de un caballo. El maestro de sabiduría lo ilustra perfectamente en Proverbios 29:11 “El necio da rienda suelta a su ira, pero el sabio la reprime”, esa «rienda» es la conexión vital entre el jinete y el caballo; si se suelta, el animal pierde el freno, se desboca y corre sin dirección. Aunque hoy en día está de moda decir que no debemos reprimir nada y que debemos ser libres como caballos salvajes, la verdad es que un caballo indómito solo sirve para verlo de lejos en una fotografía. Tenerlo cerca es peligroso.Cuando perdemos el freno, empezamos a soltar palabras hirientes desde lo más profundo del ser., es una situación trágica que la Biblia describe en Proverbios 29:20: “¿Ves a un hombre precipitado en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay para el necio que para él”. Así que, cuando vemos a alguien estallar por situaciones pequeñas como… (coloca un ejemplo cotidiano: Perder su lugar en la fila del cajero, alguien que le atraviese el carro, etc) debemos preguntarnos cuánto dolor y amargura hay acumulado en el interior de la persona. Esas palabras hirientes no son culpa de las circunstancias, sino de un corazón que ha perdido la rienda.El desafío es grande porque no estamos solos; vivimos en una sociedad de gente que agita el ambiente. Lo dice Proverbios 29:8: “Los provocadores agitan la ciudad, pero los sabios se alejan de la ira”. Nuestras ciudades parecen estar en llamas, llenas de gente que avanza a gritos y empujones, como si esa fuera la única manera de sobrevivir. Es fácil pensar que debemos unirnos a ellos, ya que si no gritamos también, nos aplastarán.Sin embargo, hay una advertencia muy clara sobre con quién nos juntamos, Proverbios 22:24-25 dice: “No te asocies con el hombre iracundo, ni andes con el hombre violento, no sea que aprendas sus maneras y tiendas lazos para ti mismo”, si caminamos con los violentos, terminaremos aprendiendo sus mañas y quedaremos atrapados en su misma red de amargura.En lugar de eso, la verdadera sabiduría está en mirar el ejemplo de Jesucristo. Él conoce perfectamente la presión de esta sociedad que nos agita, y vino precisamente para ofrecernos un intercambio, Mateo 11:29: “Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas”.El apóstol Pablo entendió esto perfectamente, estando prisionero, y sabiendo que el carácter se prueba en la dificultad, nos dejó este consejo vital en Filipenses 2:5: “Haya, pues, en vosotros este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús”. Esa es la meta final: no dejar que la sociedad dicte nuestras reacciones, sino permitir que el carácter de Cristo tome las riendas de nuestra vida.El Carácter de Cristo es el fin último de todo cristiano. Es el punto máximo en el crecimiento espiritual, por lo tanto desarrollar el carácter de Cristo es la tarea más importante de la vida, cristiana, es la única cosa que nos va a identificar con El en todo momento y en todo lugar, Jesús lo dejó bien claro en el sermón del monte, Mateo 5:3-11, en que la recompensa eterna en el Cielo estará basada en el carácter que desarrollamos y demostramos aquí en la tierra, por tal razón, el objetivo de toda nuestra enseñanza no es llenar al pueblo de Dios de información y conocimiento sino el cambiar vidas.El carácter nunca se construye en un salón de clases o en el salón de la iglesia, el carácter se construye en la vida diaria, cuando entendemos cómo Dios anhela desarrollar nuestro carácter y el de nuestra familia a Su imagen y semejanza, el desarrollo del carácter siempre involucra una decisión, cuando tomamos la decisión correcta, nuestro carácter crece más como el de Cristo.Observemos Gálatas 5:22-23 “Mas el fruto del Espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe, mansedumbre, templanza; contra tales cosas no hay ley”. El fruto del Espíritu es una imagen perfecta de Cristo, Él encarnó las nueve cualidades. Si vas a desarrollar el carácter de Cristo, debes tener estas cualidades en tu vida.Romanos 8:29-30 “Porque a los que antes conoció, también los predestinó para que fuesen hechos conformes a la imagen de su Hijo, para que él sea el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. Y a los que predestinó, a estos también llamó; y a los que llamó, a estos también justificó; y a los que justificó, a estos también glorificó”. El término carácter viene de la palabra griega “charazo” y se refiere a lo que esta esculpido en piedra o en acero y que le da una determinada forma de ser a aquello en lo que está grabado. El carácter es lo que uno es, no lo que aparenta ser, o los demás creen que es. ¿Como podemos conocer Su carácter?, El conocimiento teórico se convierte en algo espurio, superficial, por tal motivo es necesario tener una experiencia personal e intima con Dios, cuando te conviertes a él, cuando le entregas tu vida a Él y comienzas a tener una relación espiritual, esa relación a la cual hemos llamado #CotidianidadConÉl, es la mejor manera de llegar a conocer Su carácter.Observemos los atributos que describen a Dios: Es espíritu, invisible, inmutable, omnisciente,  lleno de sabiduría, veraz, fiel, bondadoso, misericordioso, lleno de amor, santo, justo, celoso, tardo para la ira, su voluntad en medio de aquel que lo anhela, omnipotente, perfecto, hermoso.La Biblia dice que Dios es espíritu, Juan 4:24 “Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren”, por lo tanto llegar a conocer a Dios es más difícil que llegar a conocer a un ser humano, así que si todavía estamos en duda sobre el carácter de Dios, podemos fijarnos en la vida de Jesús. Cuando sabemos quien es Jesús, sabemos cómo es Dios.Es digno de confianza. Si llegamos a conocer quién es Dios, no necesitamos tener miedo de que él será diferente mañana, Hebreos 13:8 lo describe como el principio y el fin, el Alfa y la Omega y se resume como “Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, hoy y siempre”.Es amor, 1ª Juan 4:8. Jesús es la encarnación perfecta del amor de Su Padre. Porque fue Dios quien dio a su Hijo único, para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna, Juan 3:16.Es justo. “Dios de verdad, y sin ninguna iniquidad, justo y recto es él”, Deuteronomio 32:4. Él ama la verdad y la justicia, y odia la mentira y la injusticia.Es santo. Isaías 6:3 dice: “Santo, santo, santo es el Señor de los ejércitos; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria! “.Es misericordioso. Éxodo 34:6-7 “Y pasando Jehová por delante de él, proclamó: ¡Jehová! ¡Jehová! fuerte, misericordioso y piadoso; tardo para la ira, y grande en misericordia y verdad; que guarda misericordia a millares, que per...

The Bristol outfit Adult Leisure are one of the most exciting indie pop bands around. "Love Rollercoaster" To say the Ohio Players are one of the greatest funk bands of all time kind of falls short of the mark. The Ohio Players are, quite simply, one of the greatest bands of all time. The Dayton R&B outfit got their start in 1959 as the Ohio Untouchables and their leader Robert Ward was like a funk version of Jim Morrison--brilliant but unpredictable, Ward would walk offstage mid-gig and never come back. He was punk long before there was punk and he was a wild card for sure, but charisma can carry you pretty far in art. But, to be fair, it can't always carry you over the line and the Untouchables started swapping out personnel, Ward included, and they rebranded in the late '60s as the Ohio Players. A false start found them skidding to a halt in 1970, but then, things started to gel. A furious blend of funk and soul, The Ohio Players started racking up hits like Love Rollercoaster, Fire and Who'd She Coo? Albums like Skin Tight, Honey and Contradiction remain indisputable classics and the band is still at it, currently in the studio cooking something up. As for James Diamond Williams, he joined the band around '74 and he quickly asserted himself as one of the very best behind the kit. "Forever Shining" In 1976 brothers Tony and Chip Kinman founded the legendary Carlsbad punk band The Dills, who in just four short years crammed their music CV with highlights. Before they disbanded in 1980, The Dils had recorded classics like "Class War" and Mr. Big" opened for the Clash and appeared in Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke. The Kinmans went on to form Rank and File, who are considered by many to be one of the first cowpunk bands around. Rank and FIle's rootsy stomp and melodic muscle powered them through three perfect albums--Sundown, Long Gone Dead and their self-titled 19897 swansong. The Kinmans had an uncanny ability to read the cultural room before anyone else--they were hardcore before it hit the suburbs and they were cowpunk before it was cool and with their next band Blackbird, they were techno metal before Korn and Linkin Park shirts at Hot Topic. The Kinmans went on to play in bands like Cowboy Nation and Ford Madox Ford and sadly, Tony Kinman died in 2018. Which brings us to KInman's self-titled Kinman's new album. A stirring song cycle filled with acoustic numbers, Tex-Mex techno, the undulating rhythms and "Me And Tony" a streetwise tribute to a life in music with his brother, Kinman's new record sounds like nobody else. It's filled with unexpected sonic flourishes, heartfelt emotional ruminations, great storytelling and devastating beauty.
