We're talking Gyro and the Argonauts on this episode of the Fan2Fan Podcast! Joshua Pruett (Phineas and Ferb, MST3K, The Last Comics on Earth) joins Bernie and Pete to talk about his latest book! Josh is the writer of Gyro and the Argonauts - "the totally (mostly) true story of the first “Greek Geek,” a super fanboy vineyard grape-squisher named Gyro (like the sandwich), who learns there's so much more to the maligned monsters of mythology (such as the CYCLOPS, the MINOTAUR, and even MEDUSA herself), and so much less to his favorite heroes (including Perseus, Heracles, and Pegasus) than he ever dreamed." “With big laughs, big heart, and big monsters, Gyro and the Argonauts is timeless fun for everyone!” – Max Brallier, sandwich expert and author of the #1 New York Times bestselling series The Last Kids on Earth Josh shares the book's origin, his writing process, his journey as a creative and more. He also discusses how he was able to take his love of dad jokes, Ray Harryhausen, Douglas Adams and insert them into the book to tell a personal story that's fun for the fans of all ages. (Spoiler Section Length - 6min 41sec)The reputation of Disney sequels is generally not great, but among them the Lion King sequel and... interquel(?) tend to be favored. They're pretty wildly different in tone, with Simba's Pride maintaining a similar tone to the first movie, going for a Romeo and Juliet thing rather than Macbeth. Lion King 1½, meanwhile, is a purposeful farce, with a MST3K style 4th-wall-breaking setup and a story that takes place in the margins of the original film. Are these two films really the best that the direct-to-DVD era of Disney sequels has to offer, and more than that, are they still worth watching today? Listen to find out!

J. Elvis Weinstein was a head writer on many shows so he knows a good joke while Jay just jokes often from character. On this show we sort out the differences. Also J. talks about his funny family. Hobbies like ice cream, bad jokes, bubble gum jokes, fortune cookies, losing money on documentaries, saving your marriage by wasting less money than your wife thinks, Mystery Science Theater, old credits, and how jokes ruin dramas, hack jokes, improvisations, the perfect punchline, and hating Seinfeld. Bio: J. Elvis Weinstein began his stand-up comedy career at age 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At 17, he was one of the founding writer/performers of "Mystery Science Theater 3000” (MST3K) as the original voice/puppeteer of robots Tom Servo and Gypsy, and the role of Dr. Lawrence Erhardt.Since moving to Los Angeles, he has worked as a writer/producer on a wide range of network TV comedy, including "Freaks and Geeks", "Malcolm and Eddie", "Dead Last", and "My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star.” He was also the Head Writer on "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Later with Greg Kinnear". In 2008 he reunited with his MST3K co-stars to form “Cinematic Titanic” which toured U.S. Theaters as a live show and produced 12 DVDs, now available as a box set.J. Elvis has written and directed 3 films - 2 feature documentaries (“I Need You To Kill” & “Michael Des Barres: Who Do You Want Me To Be?”) and a comedy short (“The Mediocre Samaritan”). As a performer, he continues to perform as a stand-up (releasing the album “Chunks” in 2019), co-hosts the podcast “Thought Spiral” with comedian Andy Kindler, and recently co-starred in the feature film “The Fiddling Horse” (2020).

The Flat Earth Society is alive and thriving within The Anti-Matter Minute Dimension… and we're here to suffer through it. This week, we found an actual Flat Earth podcast that takes itself way too seriously, so we're doing what any responsible podcasters would do—playing it MST3K-style and ripping it apart. But that's not all! After the roasting ‘The Anti-Globe Trotters', we take things even further with our OWN models (so step aside Copernicus!) where we create our own absurd Flat Earth models that are somehow even dumber than the real thing. So grab a drink (but keep it level) and prepare to be brainwashed by government pigeons, because this episode is flatter than a bar mat at closing time.
Hey - guess what? Gene Hackman isn't in this movie.Host segments: 100% Gene Hackman-free; small critique of MiMi's kissing; Jeff has opinions about geologists; Nuveena kink; this is now a chair review podcast; shirtless beefcake American; Dean-o's outttakes.
