The Flat Earth Society is alive and thriving within The Anti-Matter Minute Dimension… and we're here to suffer through it. This week, we found an actual Flat Earth podcast that takes itself way too seriously, so we're doing what any responsible podcasters would do—playing it MST3K-style and ripping it apart. But that's not all! After the roasting ‘The Anti-Globe Trotters', we take things even further with our OWN models (so step aside Copernicus!) where we create our own absurd Flat Earth models that are somehow even dumber than the real thing. So grab a drink (but keep it level) and prepare to be brainwashed by government pigeons, because this episode is flatter than a bar mat at closing time.

On today's episode I have comedy writer and comic book writer, Jordan Morris! I have been following Jordan's career for a number of years now since I first saw him on @midnight and became a fan of his comedy, and have been intrigued with his career as I followed along. It was great to finally have Jordan join me on the show to talk about how he got his start writing comedy and built his career.  I talked with Jordan about growing up and discovering comedy and the likes of Kids in the Hall and MST3K, finding community with other genre fans, getting his start into writing comedy, working on @midnight, working on the Jim Henson Company show Earth to Ned as well as Great Mythical Morning, getting his start in writing comics with his graphic novel "Bubble", which was nominated for 2 Eisner Awards, his graphic novel "Youth Group", the evolution of Archie comics and writing Chilling Adventures, writing the new "Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood", and the new "Godzilla vs. LA" comic that releases next month to support LA fire relief.  A huge Thank You to Jordan for taking the time to join me on the show. He has such a busy schedule with all of these projects and I was honored he would take the time to join me on the show. Please make sure to follow him on all of the links at www.onthemicpodcast.com Get out to you local comic book stores and pick up "Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood", and pick up Jordan's other work on the links below.  Thanks, Jordan! We discuss various topics, including: What are the characteristics of a cult show? Should there be a new Dark Shadows if the tone is changed? Should a new DS be a remake or a continuation? While the focus is on Dark Shadows, we also discuss and/or mention: The Twilight Zone, Batman, Being Human, Interview with the Vampire, Kindred: The Embraced, Manimal, Lost in Space, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hexed, The Wild Wild West, Bordertown, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, In Search of…, The Monkees, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Brady Bunch, The Golden Girls, Cobra Kai, The Partridge Family, The X-Files, The IT Crowd, Twin Peaks, Blake's 7, Freaks and Geeks, The Tomorrow People, MST3K, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The Mandalorian, What We Do in the Shadows, Star Wars, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Room, Pet Sematary, The Lord of the Rings, H.R. Serving up an autistic take on Thanksgiving traditions! Here's what's in store for this episode: * Thanksgiving isn't always the easiest time for autistic people, with our senses of justice triggered by the holiday's problematic origins and the need to mask during family gatherings - in this episode, Matt and Angela talk about both navigating Thanksgiving as an autistic person and Mystery Science Theater 3000, a beloved autistic Thanksgiving tradition.* Matt and Angela explore the origins of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and how interactive TV serves as a beacon for autistic people.* Our hosts discuss how MST3K emphasizes the concept of found family, a theme that resonates deeply with autistic folks.* In this episode, we dive into the original Turkey Day marathons on Comedy Central that cemented MST3K as a Thanksgiving tradition, along with the show's turbulent journey across networks, Kickstarter campaigns, and different media platforms.* Matt and Angela also discuss how MST3K's bottom-up processing style of comedy makes it especially appealing to autistic folks.“For 24 hours, you watch really bad movies, you eat some stuffing, they had some new interstitials in there, and you get together with your friends and watch bad movies. Or, if you're alone, you get together with your friends on TV and watch some bad movies. So you still have some community. You are like Joel, keeping your sanity with the help of your robot friends. And to this day, this is the only Thanksgiving tradition I have.” - Matt“They just need more funding because, again, they don't have studio backing. They're doing it all completely independently. Just like we do it. We are often forced to be independent. We are often traumatically independent because we don't have that support system around us.” - Matt“I would rather do something small and funded myself than be beholden to explaining my creative ideas to these people that will never get it. It's not a problem to explain it. It's explaining it to people who are gonna drive you crazy.” - AngelaDid you catch the whirlwind of emotions that come with the holidays?
