Anchored in cultural sciences, linguistics, and a vast understanding of human behavior, Abbie Pugh helps startups and sizable organizations prepare for, and get through exponential growth. Whether leveraging her deep understanding of global cultures for hostage negotiations and risk management, or gleaning from her role as chief of staff at Facebook UK, Abbie uses her empathic business skills to help leaders understand the subtle-- and not so subtle-- nuances that affect their ability to grow. On this episode, Abbie breaks down everything from internal knowledge of self, serving people and teams, how atheism plays a part in her outlook on business, and where true roadblocks come from.
This week is a podcast week and thrilled to be sharing this one with you. I sit down with Abbie Pugh, Partner @ Multiple, a consulting company that helps tech companies grow through purpose, product and people. Abbie brings a wealth of knowledge to the table! Abbie spent her youth living in different parts of the world, from the US to the UK to Kenya and Egypt, driving her ongoing fascination with what makes people and cultures tick. Her career has spanned public affairs, international development, political risk and technology investment. She has applied her analytical skills on issues as varied as robotics, refugees and ransom negotiations. In 2012, Abbie moved to Facebook EMEA to become Joanna Shields’ Chief of Staff, where she gained insight into how a unique corporate culture can contribute to rapid growth. She subsequently developed her operational, team-building, people and entrepreneurial skills as Chief-of-Staff for serial entrepreneur and investor Shakil Khan. Most recently Abbie was Interim Director at the philanthropic community, Rainmaker Foundation. In this episode wee cover topics like the importance of onboarding, the symbiotic relationship between process and trust, and how leaders can play a proactive role when it comes to shaping culture (hint; it has to do with communication).
