Ep #367: Unfreeze for Collective Liberation: End Emotional Outsourcing to Live Your Values

#367: Have you ever felt that deep yes in your body about speaking up, protesting, or naming injustice… and then frozen the moment someone showed disapproval? What if learning to unfreeze isn't just about personal healing, but essential for collective liberation? In this episode, I explore how emotional outsourcing keeps us frozen when our values are calling us forward. I break down what happens in your nervous system when disapproval feels like a survival threat, why your amygdala overrides your moral clarity, and how the freeze response makes you disappear energetically even when you're still in the room. This isn't about cowardice. It's about conditioning. Tune in today to learn how to recognize freeze in real time, how to resource your nervous system to unfreeze, why small acts of authenticity build courage, and why community is essential for collective liberation. I also share practical steps to honor your values without collapsing into fear and how choosing integrity over comfort becomes revolutionary, one micro choice at a time.Click here to check out Anchored: https://beatrizalbina.com/anchored/Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://beatrizalbina.com/367 Order your copy of End Emotional Outsourcing here: https://beatrizalbina.com/book/ Follow me here: https://www.instagram.com/beatrizvictoriaalbinanp/?hl=enMentioned in this episode:Join Anchored! If you're ready to break away from anxiety and codependent relationships so you can live a life of joy and confidence, Anchored is for you. When God Feels Silent: Trusting Him in Seasons of Suffering

Dave's Theology Segment

There are seasons in the Christian life when God feels near—and seasons when He feels painfully silent. In those moments of suffering, believers often wonder where God is and whether He still hears their prayers. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins helps Christians think biblically about suffering when God feels silent. Drawing from Psalm 13, Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 4, and other key passages, this teaching shows that God's silence is not abandonment, rejection, or indifference. Scripture reveals that these seasons are real and deeply biblical—and often the very places where God does His deepest work in His people. You'll be encouraged to trust God's unchanging character, rest in Christ's compassion as our suffering Savior, and remember that the silence of God is never the final word. Hey friends — this episode dropped one day late, and honestly? That feels fitting. Because we're talking about peace… and sometimes peace means slowing down. This week on Anchored by the Sword, I'm joined by Tara Dew, author of Overflowing Peace: What God Says About a Peace-Filled Life.Tara serves alongside her husband, the president of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where they help train men and women who are called to take the gospel to some of the most broken places in the world. She's also a wife, a twin mom (yes — twins!), a Bible teacher, and now the author of a powerful new book walking slowly through Psalm 23.In this conversation, we talk about: • Her freedom story and meeting Jesus at a young age • Being released from perfectionism and people-pleasing • What Psalm 23 really means when you study it slowly • Quiet waters in a loud, anxious world • The valley of the shadow of death — and the promise that we walk through it • The difference between noise, poison, and true Living WaterIf you've been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like your mind never shuts off — this episode is for you.Because peace isn't the absence of struggle. It's the presence of the Shepherd.Bio:Tara Dew is a national speaker, author and Bible teacher. She has loved Jesus for as long as she can remember, trusting Him to be her Savior at the age of five years old at a Billy Graham Crusade. She felt called to ministry in the high school youth group, where she also met her husband, Jamie. Her primary ministry is to her family, as she is the mother of two sets of fraternal boy/girl twins called “the Dew Krewe.” Tara holds a Bachelors of Arts in Human Communication (2003) from Meredith College, a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning Elementary Education (2012) from Liberty University and a Doctorate in Education (2018) from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Tara's dissertation was entitled “Survive or Thrive: An Exploration of the Preparedness of Southern Baptist Pastors' Wives.” Tara is the president's wife, serving the students, staff, and faculty of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She teaches as an adjunct professor in the Ministry to Women program. She also directs and teaches in Thrive: A Ministry Wives Certificate Program. She has authored two books, “Overflowing Peace,” releasing in 2026 and “Overflowing Joy,” released in February 2024. Tara also has an upcoming Lifeway Women's Bible Study about the fruit of the Spirit releasing in May 2027.Through all of the ministry opportunities, two of Tara's passions have remained the same: God's Word and women. Anchor Verses:1 Timothy 4:12John 15:5Psalm 23Connect with Tara:Website: https://www.nobts.edu/president/about-tara-dew/default.htmlFB: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559548471008***We love hearing from you! The Hebrew word 'shalom' reveals that biblical peace isn't simply the absence of conflict—it's about wholeness, oneness, and restoration even in the midst of turmoil. We discover that peacemaking requires intentional effort, starting with cultivating peace in our own relationship with God before we can offer it to others. Tenderoni Hotline #21: Hello my love, and welcome back to the Tenderoni Hotline, our soft and spacious corner of the Feminist Wellness Podcast, where we explore your most tender questions about healing, nervous system care, and returning home to yourself. In today's episode, we're unpacking a question that comes up all the time in somatic spaces, yoga classes, and Instagram infographics: Are emotions really stored in the hips? Together, we'll get curious about where this idea comes from, how it gets flattened into oversimplified slogans, and what's actually happening in your body when those hips feel tight, tender, or tear-filled. We'll talk about the difference between emotional release and emotional resolution, what the nervous system has to do with chronic muscle bracing, and why fascia, stress, and safety are central to understanding what your body is trying to tell you. And because you know I love the science and the woo, we'll explore the origins of this concept across different systems, from somatic psychology to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Indigenous frameworks, with care, nuance, and zero appropriation. You'll walk away with a clearer understanding of why this myth persists, how your body actually processes emotional pain, and why healing isn't about “extracting” emotion but expanding your capacity to feel, soften, and stay present with yourself. So go ahead and get cozy. I'm so glad you're here. Got a question for the Tenderoni Hotline? In this episode, Tiffany addresses a common struggle among brilliant, experienced thought leaders: the feeling that they "should" be doing more, yet feeling completely burnt out by the "hustle culture" and "bro marketing" tactics of the last decade. Tiffany introduces a new paradigm called Anchored Leadership. This approach shifts the focus from manufactured visibility and constant urgency to clarity, steadiness, and alignment. Tiffany explores why "hustle" is actually the opposite of trust in the current market and explains how to find your "Authority Channel" (the sweet spot where your natural strengths meet your audience's needs) without the exhausting grind.Key Takeaways- The Hustle vs. Trust Paradox: Hustle communicates urgency and instability. In a world of constant noise, trust grows in grounded, predictable, and intentional environments.- Anchored Leadership: This is authority built on discernment and alignment rather than volume and algorithms. It allows you to be recognizable wherever you show up because your presence is regulated and rooted.- The "Social Media Optional" Strategy: Being "social media optional" doesn't mean opting out of marketing entirely. A business requires visibility to be sustainable, but the way you show up should feel aligned, not forced.- The Authority Channel Venn Diagram: To find your ideal marketing rhythm, look for the overlap between: - Circle 1: How you naturally think and express ideas (e.g., verbal processing, writing, or video). - Circle 2: Where your audience already naturally gives their attention.- Rhythm Over Discipline: When your message lacks a rhythm, it becomes exhausting. An intentional system (like a Brand Operating System) turns consistency from a "discipline" into "alignment."- Brand as a System, Not a Personality: A legacy brand should be an operating system that supports you when you're tired and evolves as you grow, rather than a personality that demands constant "performance."Reflection Questions- Where are you still trying to prove something instead of standing in what you already know?- Where might less effort actually create more trust?- What would it feel like to lead from steadiness instead of speed?Mentioned Resources- Brand OS Pro: Tiffany's system designed to help thought leaders install a messaging system that supports a movement without the hustle.- LinkedIn: Follow Tiffany honest conversations about thought leadership and building a legacy brand.Rate, Review, and Follow on Your Favorite Platform! We are living in an age of unprecedented noise—not just around us, but within us. Our minds are constantly pulled by alerts, opinions, endless information, and now the accelerating pace of artificial intelligence, which only adds to the sense that everything is moving faster than we can process. It's no wonder so many capable, thoughtful people feel stretched thin and quietly overwhelmed—not from weakness, but from living in a world that rarely pauses. In this episode, From Overwhelmed to Anchored, we'll talk about how to regain inner stability by building anchors that hold: simple, intentional habits like devotionals, journaling, exercise, thoughtful planning, protected thinking time, and guilt-free rest—practices that work together to create a resilient inner framework, even when the world around us refuses to slow down. And all of this is doable. Inner stability is not achieved through dramatic life changes, but through small, consistent habits practiced over time. Send a textA courageous journey, a chance meeting and a single ring on the bell at the gilded gates of his future, changed everything for Kevin Tewis and launched him into being! And nothing has stopped him ever since! At 15, a disastrous careers interview informed Kevin that he simply wasn't good enough and a life of stacking biscuits as opposed to a glorious creative career lay ahead. To quote Churchill Insurance's iconic dog Winston that Kevin subsequently went on to create: "Oh No-No-No-No-No!" A day later Kevin found himself at the gates of 5 Star, his very favourite band. And having taken his destiny into his own hands, there at the gates, his future began. That mix of nerve and pitch-perfect timing became a blueprint that Kevin still follows: Create work with staying power, not sugar highs. In this extraordinary episode we explore how a shy Superfan became a Photographer, a Music Producer, a Brand Builder, a Creativity Legend and the mind behind one of Britain's most loved advertising  icons, Churchill's nodding bulldog Winston: "Oh Yes-Yes-Yes-Yes-Yes!"We dig into the craft. Kevin's teenage habit of hand-charting Top 40 hits helped him decode what makes a song endure across formats and decades. That data-meets-feel approach fuelled records designed to live on Heart and Smooth long after the charts. It also birthed a branding masterstroke: “Winston,” a bulldog that turned insurance into affection by blending British heritage with warmth and simple, memorable language. You'll hear how he later applied the same logic in government, naming ANTENNA for Number 10's secure comms by building inward and outward meaning straight into the word.Mentors loom large in Kevin's story. From Five Star's kindness to Eddie Gordon's industry schooling, he shows how generosity scales careers—and why he now mentors young creators, sits on a school trust, and argues for business literacy in classrooms. We talk ad quality, radio's surprising strength, Simon Cowell's new boy band era, and why AI is best treated like Grammarly: a sharp helper, not a stand-in for empathy, timing, and taste. Creativity remains stubbornly human because what moves us keeps shifting. The most luminous turn arrives with fatherhood. Kevin shares the joy and honesty of building a family through surrogacy and egg donation, keeping both women an active part of his children's lives. It's a lesson in dignity, clarity, and the kind of legacy that truly lasts. Anchored by a favourite line from Kipling's If—keep your head when others lose theirs—this conversation is a guide for anyone who wants to make things people will still love in ten, twenty, thirty years.Enjoy the story, share it with a friend who needs a nudge of courage, and if it resonates, subscribe and leave a review so more listeners can find these conversations. Yet he declares triumph: Friday always leads to Sunday, turning graveyards into gardens of revival.   Drawing from recent wins, he spotlights courageous stands—like beauty queen Kylie Busch losing her crown for refusing to affirm biological males as female, valedictorian Justin Aguilar restoring Jesus in his graduation speech after legal pushback, Maryland parents winning at the Supreme Court against LGBT curriculum for young kids, gospel-sharing door-knockers protected in subsidized housing, Liberty University safeguarding biblical doctrine, and pastors fighting job losses over biblical beliefs on marriage and sex.   Anchored in David's cry against Goliath—"Is there not a cause?"—Alexandre rallies believers to reject fear, double down on convictions, and proclaim truth boldly. Trigger Warning: This message briefly mentions depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. Please take care of yourself while listening. What happens when your mind says “no”… but God says “yes”?In this deeply personal and powerful testimony, Bryce shares what it looked like to make 2025 a Year of Yes — a year of choosing obedience over fear, faith over insecurity, and truth over the lies that once felt louder than anything else. After years marked by depression, anxiety, CPTSD, chronic illness, suicidal thoughts, and feeling completely lost, Bryce found themself at a crossroads: stay hidden and small, or trust God enough to say “Your will, not mine.” From stepping into the worship team, holding the banner at Pride, facilitating connect groups, and helping plan conference — every “YES” felt terrifying at first. But each act of obedience rewrote old narratives of: “I'm too much.” “I'm not enough.” “I don't belong.” “I'm not qualified.”Anchored in scriptures like Psalm 139 and Ephesians 2:10, this sermon explores:• Rewriting the lies we believe about ourselves• Aligning identity with God's Word• Trusting God when capacity feels low• Saying YES even when you feel unqualified• Finding healing through obedience If you've ever wrestled with negative thoughts, fear, comparison, chronic illness, identity, or feeling unseen — this message is for you. Saying YES doesn't mean it isn't scary. It means trusting that God equips who He calls. To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/giveMelbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.

"Am I betraying my child if I start to feel better?" It's a question most grieving moms never say out loud. Not because you love your child any less. But because pain has started to feel like the only bridge between you and them. Somewhere along the way, suffering begins to feel like loyalty — and the thought of healing feels like forgetting. In this episode, we step into that tension. The guilt that surfaces when you laugh for a moment. The heaviness that follows a day that didn't end in tears. And the fear that hope for your future might somehow dishonor your child. Anchored in Psalm 94, we talk about what happens when your "foot feels like it's slipping" — and how God's comfort meets you right there. Inside this conversation, you'll discover… Why guilt often shows up the moment you begin to feel lighter The hidden belief that suffering proves your love What Psalm 94 reveals about God's support when your heart feels unsteady How to move forward in strength without leaving your child behind If you've ever felt afraid that healing might mean betrayal, I hope you'll press play. God's comfort does not erase your love — it strengthens you to carry it differently. You are not dishonoring your child by stepping toward peace.     ✨ Live Gathering for Grieving Moms — February 26 & 27 If you're realizing that life without your child has shifted everything — the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the future you thought you were moving toward — you don't have to navigate that disorientation on your own. I'm hosting a two-day live gathering for grieving moms. This will be a time to come together, be present, and talk honestly about grief, identity, and what it looks like to keep lliving when life no longer feels familiar.

Moviewallas is on YouTube! Welcome back to Moviewallas, your weekly dose of film reviews, movie news, and general banter – in theatres, on streaming, or in the back of an airplane. This week, Joe, Rashmi, and Yazdi tackle two wildly different cinematic experiences: the provocative indie Pillion and Emerald Fennell's lush, divisive adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Snack check: Mango-chili dark chocolate straight from Mexico City sets the tone – bold, unexpected, and a little dangerous. Much like the films we're reviewing. Streaming Picks – “I Can't Find Anything to Watch…” Undercurrent (Ullozhukku) – Netflix A flood traps a grieving family in this intense Malayalam drama we first saw at IFFLA. Claustrophobic, emotionally charged, and unforgettable. Triangle of Sadness – Netflix (Feb 21) Ruben Östlund's razor-sharp satire finally lands on Netflix. Gender politics, class warfare, and one dinner scene you'll never forget. Bridgerton Season 4 (Part 1) – Netflix Lavish, romantic, and gloriously anachronistic. If you're in the mood for swooning and scandal, Netflix has you covered. Pillion This one sparked serious conversation. A shy young man is pulled into the world of a dominant biker, and what unfolds is funny, uncomfortable, emotional, and surprisingly layered. Anchored by fearless performances from Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgard, Pillion is bold filmmaking that refuses to play it safe. It's not for everyone – but it's undeniably memorable. “Wuthering Heights” (2026) Emerald Fennell brings maximalist style to Emily Brontë's classic tale of destructive love. Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this adaptation leans heavily into mood, sensuality, and striking visuals. We debate whether the passion translates, whether the characters earn their tragedy, and whether style can carry a story this iconic. Anchored by a career-best performance from Adam Sandler as the gambling addicted jeweler with a talent for digging himself deeper and deeper, we unpack the film's nerve-shredding style, its stacked supporting cast (including an NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett playing himself), and why this might be one of the most stressful theatrical experiences of the last decade. The White House's new Great American Recovery Initiative reframes addiction as a chronic disease that needs steady support, not just clinical services — a shift meant to close the gap between how many Americans struggle with substance use and how few receive help. It calls for stronger coordination across government, healthcare, and communities to make recovery more accessible, more connected, and more rooted in real life. We'll dig into what that means on the ground with Melissa Sosinski, host of Empathy Affect podcast, who's spent years talking with leaders and people with lived experience about what recovery really looks like.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

#366: Ever been certain someone was mad at you, disappointed in you, or about to leave you… only to find out you were completely wrong? What if that certainty wasn't intuition at all, but projection? In this episode, I unpack projection through the lens of emotional outsourcing. I walk you through how your nervous system takes fear, shame, anger, or need and unconsciously assigns it to someone else. From assuming your partner is furious, to spiraling over a short email from your boss, to believing a friend doesn't care about you, you'll learn how projection distorts reality and quietly destroys your relationships.Join me this week to learn how projection forms in the nervous system, why it feels so real in your body, what it costs you in intimacy and self-trust, and how to interrupt it. I'll also share practical ways to pause between sensation and story, stay present with your own feelings, and respond to what's actually happening instead of reacting to old fear.Click here to check out Anchored: https://beatrizalbina.com/anchored/Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://beatrizalbina.com/366 Order your copy of End Emotional Outsourcing here: https://beatrizalbina.com/book/ Follow me here: https://www.instagram.com/beatrizvictoriaalbinanp/?hl=enMentioned in this episode:Join Anchored! If you're ready to break away from anxiety and codependent relationships so you can live a life of joy and confidence, Anchored is for you.
