Friend, have you ever experienced a season where everything you thought was secure suddenly fell apart? This week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I sit down with Bible teacher, author, speaker, and teaching pastor Alli Patterson to talk about freedom, failure, redemption, and learning to build our lives on the only foundation that truly lasts.Alli shares her powerful personal story of coming to faith as a teenager, drifting away from the Lord during college and early adulthood, and eventually walking through a devastating season of brokenness that nearly destroyed her marriage. Through that painful experience, she encountered the kindness, forgiveness, and presence of Jesus in a way she had never known before. What I love about Alli's story is that it reminds us that God is not afraid of our mess. He is a God of redemption, restoration, and second chances. We also dive into her newest Bible study, Spirit-Led Bible Study: Six Practices to Bring the Bible to Life, where Alli teaches practical ways to approach Scripture that move beyond simply reading words on a page and into genuinely encountering God through His Word. One of my favorite moments from this conversation was Alli's reminder that hearing God's Word is only part of the equation.Jesus didn't simply call us to listen. He called us to build. The storms of life reveal what our foundation is made of, and true freedom comes when we choose to build our lives on Christ instead of success, comfort, achievement, or our own plans.Whether you've struggled with failure, finding your footing after difficult seasons, or feeling intimidated by studying the Bible, this conversation will encourage you to take the next step toward Jesus and trust Him to rebuild what feels broken.Bio:Alli Patterson is a teacher, author, wife and mom of four out of Cincinnati, Ohio. She currently serves as a Teaching Pastor at Crossroads Church on the national teaching team. Alli is the leader of Woman Camp and founder of the Ignite Conference out of her passion for equipping women in the Kingdom of God.As a lifetime learner and lover of scripture with a seminary degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, Alli loves to create ways for others to know and love Jesus through his Word. She has created a fresh approach to Bible study in the release of Spirit-Led Bible Study, coming February 2026. She has written two books, How to Stay Standing and Blueprint for Belonging- both providing practical help translating Biblical principles into real life. Alli speaks at events and conferences and enjoys podcasting. She is a runner and die-hard Buckeye football fan who loves Mexican food almost as much as her bratty calico cat.Anchor Verses:Luke 6:47-49Luke 6:45Connect with Alli:Website: https://www.allipatterson.comIG: https://www.instagram.com/theallipattersonLinktree: https://linktr.ee/theallipattersonAbout Spirit-Led Bible StudyIn Spirit-Led Bible Study: Six Practices to Bring the Bible to Life, Alli teaches practical and approachable ways to engage Scripture, helping readers move beyond simply reading the Bible to truly interacting with God through His Word. The study introduces six practices designed to help believers observe, interpret, pray through, and apply Scripture while allowing the Holy Spirit to guide the process.***We love hearing from you! Send us Fan MailTruth didn't get weaker, but the pressure to treat it like a preference has never been louder. We sit with a hard question: why is it so difficult to stand for eternal truth in a culture that keeps insisting truth is negotiable? I walk through why objective truth matters, why “your truth” can quietly become a trap, and why aligning our lives to truth is the opposite of the modern message to adjust truth until it fits. From there, we talk about the real battle underneath the noise: identity. When you don't know who you are, you'll borrow your worth from trends, approval, or fear. I share why the restored gospel answers identity with clarity: you are a child of God with divine potential and eternal worth. We connect that foundation to discipleship in real life, especially when social pressure hits hard at school, online, or at work and you feel tempted to stay quiet just to belong. We also get practical about spiritual survival in a distracted age. The adversary does not always need to prove truth is false; sometimes he only needs to drown it out. That's why daily prayer, scripture study, worship, and stillness matter, because the still small voice is easiest to miss when life is always loud. Finally, I lay out four anchors to help you stand firm through modern storms: daily personal revelation, covenants, holy places, and Jesus Christ as the true foundation. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who feels stretched by today's culture, and leave a review so more people can find it. The Table Boston - Weekly Sermon

This week, Ryan Patrick Murphy shares a message from Luke 24:13–35. Anchored in the story of two disciples walking the road to Emmaus, Ryan invites the Table Boston community into a deeper, more daily encounter with God through Scripture — making the case that the Bible is not a supplement to the Christian life but the very soil it grows in.Ryan walks through five practical keys to hearing God's voice in Scripture, drawn straight from the disciples' experience with the risen Jesus. The first is simply to read the Bible every day — not as a medicine we reach for in crisis, but as a vitamin for daily nourishment. The second is to read widely across the whole Bible, invoking A.W. Tozer's conviction that "nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian" and framing Scripture as a five-act redemptive story that we cannot faithfully live in unless we know all four acts that came before us. Ryan then calls the community to read not for information but for transformation — to slow down and sit with whatever phrase or passage stirs the heart, pray it, memorize it, carry it through the day. Fourth, Ryan draws from the Emmaus meal itself to show that Scripture is meant to be lived and discussed in community, not consumed in isolation. Finally, he challenges listeners to obey what they already know — that no prophetic word is needed to love the neighbor, forgive the enemy, or trust God with what we have.Ryan anchors the whole message in Karl Barth's concept of the "threefold Word of God" — the living Word (Jesus himself), the written Word (Scripture), and the preached Word (the teaching of the local church) — showing how all three are meant to work together. The written word, he argues, is not a secondary spiritual tool; it is a doorway into encounter with the living Word. Just as the disciples' hearts burned while Jesus opened the Scriptures to them — even before they recognized him — so the Bible remains the primary and irreplaceable way God speaks today.Ultimately, this sermon is an invitation to fall back in love with the Bible — not out of duty, but because we love the One who wrote it. Ryan closes by praying for renewed hunger, especially for those who have grown cynical or have been wounded by ways Scripture has been misused, asking God to tenderize hearts and release grace for people to open the Word again — in the mornings, on commutes, in community, and at the dinner table.

Friend, have you ever felt like you had to earn God's love?Like if you prayed more, performed better, got your act together, or stopped struggling, then maybe God would finally be pleased with you? This week's conversation on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast is a powerful reminder that God's love was never something you had to earn in the first place.I sat down with Jazmine Davis, founder of SWAT HQ Ministries, evangelist, podcast host of God Really Likes You, and a woman whose story is filled with the transforming grace of God.Jasmine shares her incredible testimony of encountering Jesus at age 33 after spending years writing bestselling books that pulled her further away from God. What began as her self-declared “Jesus Year” became a life-changing encounter with the love of Christ that completely redirected her future.Together, we talk about freedom from condemnation, breaking free from works-based Christianity, healing from trauma, understanding our identity in Christ, and learning to approach God as beloved children rather than exhausted performers. One of the most powerful truths from our conversation is this:You are not fighting for God's approval. You are living from it.If you've ever struggled with shame, fear, anxiety, perfectionism, or feeling like you're never doing enough for God, this episode will remind you that Jesus already finished the work.Bio:Jazmine Davis is a faith-driven leader, speaker, and the founder of SWAT Ministries (Spirit's Watchmen and Trailblazers), a ministry dedicated to helping women break free from guilt, shame, and condemnation, and step into the radical love of God they were never told was theirs.Jazmine's story is one of redemption. After growing up in church and Christian school, she walked through her own prodigal season, wandering far from the Father's house and becoming a bestselling romance and erotica writer for nearly a decade. But God never stopped loving her. And when He gently called her home, she discovered the heartbeat of everything she does today: God still loves you. Yes, even there. Yes, even now.Today she hosts the God Really Likes You podcast, leads weekly Bible studies, and curates Wander and Vow, luxury retreats designed to immerse women in truth, beauty, and the unhurried presence of God. She is a graduate of CORE College in the Ministry of Healing and Deliverance, a Certified Crisis Counselor, a Certified Evangelist, and holds a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Oakwood University. When she's not ministering, Jazmine is a wife and mother who loves a good book, a hiking trail, and her next trip with her family. That same week, Tesla filed an application with the Nevada Transportation Authority for an Autonomous Vehicle Network Company permit to operate up to 5,000 robotaxis in Clark County within the next 12 months. With expanding service areas and a contracting physical fleet, Tesla is optimizing for a coverage narrative while software readiness remains the critical bottleneck to commercial scale, and the path to Las Vegas still runs through individual casino property agreements.Waymo purchased Apple's former proving grounds in Wittmann, Arizona, originally the DaimlerChrysler proving grounds, for $220 million. The site is larger than Waymo's existing California and Ohio testing grounds combined, featuring a 115 acre city course, a four mile high speed oval, and a dedicated freeway loop, and it sits roughly an hour from Waymo's Mesa vehicle integration facility.By securing a closed loop validation pipeline adjacent to its manufacturing hub, Waymo is converting capital into validation velocity as it targets one million weekly rides by the end of the year and up to 20 additional cities by the end of 2026.Then there is Neolix, the Chinese autonomous delivery company, which announced a strategic partnership with Singapore-based Quickbot to co-deploy an end-to-end autonomous delivery solution. Friend, if you've ever wondered where God is in the middle of your pain, this conversation is for you. This week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I sit down with authors Kristen Wetherell and Sarah Walton to talk about their brand-new book, Jesus Will Meet You There, releasing today, June 9th.Together, Kristen and Sarah share deeply personal stories of chronic illness, suffering, mental health struggles, family challenges, and the lessons they've learned about depending on Christ when life doesn't go according to plan.In a culture that tells us to be stronger, try harder, and handle everything on our own, this conversation offers a different message: God never designed us to be self-sufficient. Instead, our weaknesses, limitations, and struggles often become the very places where we experience the compassion, presence, and strength of Jesus most clearly. We talk about anxiety, depression, chronic illness, spiritual dryness, shame, and the pressure many Christians feel to hide their struggles. Most importantly, we discuss the beautiful truth that Jesus is not disappointed by our weakness. He knows our frame. He remembers that we are dust. And He meets us right where we are.If you're walking through a difficult season, carrying a burden that feels heavy, or simply exhausted from trying to hold everything together, I pray this conversation reminds you that you do not have to carry it alone.Jesus will meet you there. One of my favorite truths from this conversation is this:We spend so much time trying to convince ourselves that we should be stronger, more capable, and less needy. But Scripture tells a different story.God created us with limitations—not to shame us, but to draw us into dependence on Him.Our weakness is not evidence that God has abandoned us.Often, it is the very place where He draws nearest.Friend, whatever you're carrying today, remember this:You do not have to be enough.Jesus already is.Bios:Kristen Wetherell is a pastor's wife, mother, and writer. In this message from Hebrews 12:25–29, Mark Ordus invites us to hear both the warning and the promise at the heart of the gospel: do not refuse the voice of God, because everything that can be shaken will be shaken—but God's kingdom will remain. Drawing on the contrast between the old covenant delivered through Moses and the new covenant established in Christ, this sermon reframes how we experience instability in our lives and culture. Rather than anchoring our hope in circumstances, systems, or personal outcomes, we are called to fix our lives on the unshakable kingdom of Jesus. Mark leads us toward three formative responses—gratitude, worship, and awe—showing how a thankful heart fuels true worship and how awe reorients our daily living. When we live aware of what cannot be shaken, we find strength to endure what is, and we reflect a hope that others cannot ignore. May you walk this week deeply grounded in God's unchanging kingdom, with a renewed sense of gratitude, worship, and wonder that steadies your soul in every circumstance.

Pastor Femi Paul led the church in fervent prayers for the church and our nation through a stirring exhortation titled Deliver Us From Evil! Anchored on Matthew 6:13, the final petition in the Lord's Prayer, we were reminded that the reality of evil is something believers must confront through prayer and dependence on God. Drawing from Jeremiah 8:15, Pastor highlighted the frustration of hoping for relief, breakthrough, and good fortune only to be met with trouble and terror instead. The message identified three dimensions from which evil may arise: evil from above through spiritual wickedness in heavenly places, evil from around through hostile and malicious forces, and evil from within through betrayals and opposition from unexpected quarters. Yet, in the midst of these realities, God remains our refuge, defender, and deliverer. Drawing from Psalm 50:15, Psalm 140, Psalm 125, and 2 Thessalonians 3, we were encouraged to call upon God in times of trouble with confidence, knowing that He hears, rescues, and preserves His people. PFP reminded us that evil may take many forms, whether spiritual, systemic, or personal, but none is greater than the power and authority of God. Our Senior Pastor led the church in prayers for divine protection, deliverance from wicked and unreasonable people, and preservation from every satanic scheme and violent agenda. The service concluded with the comforting assurance from 2 Thessalonians 3:16 that the Lord Himself is able to give us peace at all times, in every way, and under every circumstance. Our confidence remains in God, whose Kingdom, Power, and Glory endure forever. Confession: Lord, I thank You for being my refuge, protector, and deliverer. Preserve me from every evil plan, every wicked influence, and every attack seen or unseen. Let Your peace guard my heart, Your power defend my life, and Your presence surround me and my loved ones in every circumstance. Amen.

Walking through the aisles of a home décor store, surrounded by signs declaring "Peace," "Joy," "Hope," and "Strength" — it's a lovely sight, but Emily Rose Massey asks the question most of us don't stop to consider: are those words actually rooted in anything real? Because hope that isn't anchored in Christ is just a sentiment — beautiful to display, but powerless when the storms come. In this episode, Emily draws a clear and urgent distinction between the hollow encouragement the world offers and the true, anchored hope that only God's Word can produce in the hearts of His people. True hope, Emily reminds us, is not something we can conjure through positive thinking or a well-timed pep talk. It is a gift given by the Holy Spirit, cultivated through Scripture, and grounded in the unshakable faithfulness of God. Romans 15:4 tells us that everything written in the Word was written for our instruction — so that through perseverance and the encouragement of Scripture, we might have hope. That hope lifts our eyes above the chaos of our circumstances and fixes them on what is eternal. And it is that eternal perspective — the certainty of a heavenly home and the return of Christ — that fuels us to keep putting one foot in front of the other, no matter how dark things become. Today's Bible Verse "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." — Romans 15:4, NASB Ponder Today Hope rooted in anything other than Christ is empty. Decorative signs, motivational quotes, and self-encouragement have their place — but they cannot sustain you through real suffering. Only hope anchored in Christ holds when the storm hits. True hope is a gift from the Holy Spirit, given through Scripture. The more we fill our hearts and minds with God's Word, the more our capacity for genuine, sustaining hope grows. This is not passive — it requires intentional, daily engagement with the Bible. An eternal perspective is your greatest weapon against despair. When you remember that this world is not your home, the chaos around you loses its power to define you. Being heavenly-minded during earthly trials is what keeps hope alive. Your feelings of hopelessness are not the final word. As children of God, we are called to move beyond what we feel and remind our hearts of what is true. The Holy Spirit is ready to help us in our weakness — we simply need to ask. The hope you carry is meant to be shared. You have been given an anchor in a world that is desperately adrift. That message of hope in Christ is not just for you — it is good news for the lost and hurting people around you. A Prayer for You Today Dear Heavenly Father, You have given me the gift of faith in Your Son, and my hope is not built on what this world offers — fleeting and fragile — but on what is eternal and settled. Help me guard my heart when my circumstances tempt me to give in to despair. Remind me that the chaos of this world cannot cause me to sink, because I am anchored in the hope of the heavenly home that awaits me. May I carry that message of hope to the lost and hurting around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
