Send us a textWhat if the win isn't a bigger platform but a life that can untie from the dock with a clear conscience? We sit down with East Texas pastor and church planter Teddy Sorrels to trace the narrow path of faithfulness in a world obsessed with celebrity metrics and seeker pragmatism. Anchored in 2 Timothy 4, we talk about preaching the word when it's costly, why the gospel's offense is actually mercy, and how sober, text-driven ministry reshapes everything from sermon prep to daily habits.Teddy shares the winding road from small country church to megachurch staff to planting Living Water in Gladewater. He lays out practical rhythms for preaching the whole counsel of God: planning the year, embracing hard passages, and “hiding behind the text” so people leave with Scripture, not a personality. We dig into the pitfalls of nose-and-nickel scorecards, the rise of platform culture, and the quiet freedom that comes from measuring success by obedience and disciple-making rather than attendance alone. The conversation moves from pulpit to home as we discuss marriage, fatherhood, and the kind of steady leadership that builds legacies. Teddy opens up about learning to give his wife his first energy, not leftovers; encouraging young families to live simply so they can disciple their kids; and calling men to courageous, gentle responsibility. Together we paint a picture of ministry that works hard without worshiping work, holds strong convictions with patience, and prepares people to endure. If you've felt the pull toward shortcuts or the fatigue of performance, this one will recalibrate your compass. Press play, share it with a friend who needs courage, and if it helps you, leave a rating and review so more people can find the show. Then tell us: where do you see the biggest drift—and how are you choosing faithfulness today?Support the show

With his signature mix of infectious grooves and uplifting songwriting, Sonic Delusion returns with “Smoooth” — a playful yet powerful anthem for uncertain times. Written as a positive protest song, “Smoooth” challenges corporate greed, environmental destruction, and prejudice, but flips the narrative toward hope, unity, and the dream of living with ease and compassion. Anchored by driving rhythms and rich melodies, the track is both a rallying cry and an invitation to take a breath, dance, and choose a smoother way forward. Releasing Friday 7th November 2025, “Smoooth” is a reminder that even in a chaotic world, music can carry us toward light, joy, and togetherness.
Are we living in the last days? John says yes, but not how you might think. In 1 John 2, we're reminded that these days began when Jesus came and will end when He returns. The question isn't when the last days are, but how we live in them. In a world filled with fear, deception, and distraction, you don't have to be anxious; you can be anchored. Be aware of the battle, Be secure in Christ, Be with Jesus and abide in Him daily. Because in the end… Jesus wins. Phoenix Bible Church is a church in the heart of the city of Phoenix, Arizona. We desire to engage culture, uphold truth and love people. In a world where life can be heavy and confusing, we want to cover the hard truths - with grace. This is difficulty and messy - and so are we - but the love of Jesus meets us in our mess. Our rhythm is to gather to worship on Sunday and then scatter during the week to love, live and lead together. We are imperfect people moved by the perfect love of Jesus. Come as you are. Experience His love.
Send us a textEverywhere we look, someone is selling the next way to change our bodies. We slow down that noise and ask a better question: what does it look like for us to make weight-loss decisions with God at the center—not guilt, fear, or marketing hype? We talk through GLP-1 medications, intermittent fasting, bariatric surgery, and spirit-led eating, exploring the promises, pitfalls, and the steadier peace that comes from honest discernment. Tools aren't villains or heroes, and the weight-loss industry often focuses on short-term outcomes. So we look at what research truly says about results and regain while also looking inward at motives—calling out shame, comparison, and the pressure to perform.Anchored in Romans 12:2, we emphasize mind renewal as the path to lasting change—whether someone uses traditional diets, medication, surgery, or a gentler hunger-and-fullness approach. We share stories from our own journeys, along with five clarifying questions and a breath prayer for anxious moments: God, You know my heart… and I trust Your thoughts over mine. If you've felt pressure to chase outcomes, we invite you to join us in a calmer way forward—one grounded in wisdom, intimacy with Jesus, and daily choices we can trust.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

The Crisis of Biblical Illiteracy Series: Anchored in the Word with Dave Jenkins November 6, 2025 Anchored in the Word with Dave Jenkins Show Summary Dave Jenkins addresses one of the most pressing issues in the church today, biblical illiteracy. He defines what it is, explains why it is dangerous for discipleship and witness, and gives practical steps to grow in knowing, understanding, and obeying God's Word. Key Scriptures: Hosea 4:6; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Ephesians 4:14; James 1:22; Psalm 119:105 Topics: Definition, dangers, and practical steps to avoid biblical illiteracy Speaker: Dave Jenkins Series site: servantsofgrace.org/anchored-in-the-word Listen Watch Episode Outline Introduction Many of us own Bibles, yet do we know what is in them and live it out? Hosea 4:6 warns that God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Neglecting Scripture leaves us open to deception, discouragement, and shallow faith. 1. Defining Biblical Illiteracy It is not the absence of a Bible, it is the absence of knowing, understanding, and applying it. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 teaches that all Scripture is God breathed and equips us for every good work. 2. The Dangers of Biblical Illiteracy Deception: Without truth we are tossed by every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14). Weak Discipleship: Faith reduces to feelings and trends. Poor Witness: A church that does not know Scripture loses its salt and light. Judges 2:10 shows how a generation can rise that does not know the Lord. 3. How We Can Avoid It Read Scripture regularly, whole books and chapters for the big picture. Study wisely, use tools but start with the text. Memorize and meditate, let the word of Christ dwell richly (Colossians 3:16). Obey what you read, be doers not hearers only (James 1:22). Stay rooted in a sound local church under faithful preaching and community. Application and Call to Action Shape your worldview from Scripture rather than social media or cultural voices. Start small. Read a chapter a day in the Gospel of John, pray, take notes, and ask questions. Closing Biblical illiteracy is dangerous but not inevitable. God's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). Let us know the Bible, love it, and live it out for the glory of Christ and the good of His church. What if the most powerful way to change leadership isn't a vote, a memo, or a trend, but a prayer said with a clear, focused heart? We open Scripture and trace a vivid portrait of the qualities that shape wise, courageous, and compassionate authority—then we pray them over the people who lead our governments, churches, families, and communities.Anchored in 1 Timothy 2:1–2, we explore why praying for leaders matters for public peace and personal holiness, then step through a living gallery of biblical models. All these threads tie back to Jesus, our model of perfect leadership. We pray for leaders to reflect His shepherd heart, submission to the Father, purity of motive, union of grace and truth, costly obedience, and deep compassion. If you've felt discouraged by shallow leadership or polarized discourse, this conversation reorients the focus to character that lasts and actions that bless.Listen, pray along, and share this with someone who leads—or someone who prays for them. If the message resonates, follow the show, leave a review, and tell us which biblical quality you're praying over a leader this week. Your voice and your prayers matter.
This week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I'm joined by Brittany Tinsley, author of Stories Our Scars Tell: Hope, Healing, and Honesty About the Wounds We Carry.Brittany opens up about her journey through pain, faith, and healing — and how God transformed her deepest wounds into a message of redemption. Ever feel like you're living in a world you just can't relate to anymore? Where prayer has been traded for good vibes, what's wrong is celebrated as if it's right, “live your truth” has replaced the truth, and “follow your heart” gets louder applause than following Jesus? Join me as I sit down with Marian Jordan Ellis, author of the new Lifeway Women's study Anchored, to expose the tricky lie of “I just can't relate to this world anymore,” and instead of a bad thing, we'll find how it's not only a very good thing, but it's the very place God positioned us on purpose to shine bright for Him. All in all, if you've ever felt like a spiritual fish out of water — this one's for you. Together, let's step forward into the truth that we're not alone, our God's not irrelevant, and we're definitely not without purpose in this post-Christian world.
