EP 180: REPLAY - Getting Over People-Pleasing and Stepping Into Your Bossy with Julia Costa Welcome to another replay episode of the You Can Call Me “Bossy" podcast. In this episode, I got to sit down with my good friend Julia Costa exploring the complexities of self-assertion versus people-pleasing, a challenge I've personally navigated and I know so many of you have as well. Julia and I will also look back at our career paths, discussing the high-stakes environment at Lululemon, where Julia faced a pivotal turn in my professional life. From there, we'll share insights into personal safety, the importance of understanding communication styles, and of course power of mindset work. As someone who has seen immense growth from using hypnosis and subconscious reprogramming, I'm excited to offer you these valuable perspectives on these tools. So, tune in as we unpack these experiences, celebrate our friendship, and offer guidance on using your voice powerfully yet empathetically in your own life. Key Takeaways: Overcoming people-pleasing tendencies. Being pushed by the universe towards necessary changes. The balance between being assertive and maintaining respect in various roles. Key Timestamps [4:40] – Overcoming self-limiting beliefs for business success. [19:24] – The Resistance to asking for help and assertiveness. How to Stay Rooted in God's Word When Summer Distracts You Show Summary In this episode of *Anchored in the Word*, Dave Jenkins explores a timely question: How can Christians stay rooted in Scripture when summer distractions pull at our attention? Vacations, longer days, and busy routines can quietly shift our focus away from God's Word. But the Bible calls us to be like a tree planted by streams of water (*Psalm 1*), flourishing in every season. Join us as we look at key passages—Psalm 1, Joshua 1, Colossians 3, and John 15—and draw insights from church history to help you remain anchored in truth. Listen to the Episode Watch the Episode Staying Rooted in God's Word This Summer As summer approaches, routines change, and distractions seem to multiply. Vacations, family time, and longer days often lead to the gentle but dangerous drift away from the spiritual habits we've worked hard to build. But even in the busiest season, God's Word remains unchanging. Psalm 1:1–3 paints a picture of a person rooted deeply in God's Word, like a tree planted by streams of water. It doesn't matter the season—the tree flourishes because it is nourished by something that doesn't change with the weather. This is the type of spiritual stability that God desires for us, even when life feels chaotic. What does it mean to stay rooted in God's Word this summer? It means choosing to prioritize Scripture over distraction. It doesn't mean doing more, but being more intentional about how we engage with God's Word. Whether you're on vacation or staying home, here are a few simple ways to stay grounded: Plan intentional time in Scripture each day—no matter how small. Use the ESV audio Bibles to stay engaged when traveling. Meditate deeply on a single passage, rather than reading widely. Involve your family in Scripture time, making it a part of your daily rhythm. In this week's message, Pastor Aaron invites us to take a fresh look at the idea of submission through the lens of Ephesians. It's a word that can carry a lot of baggage, but when rooted in the way of Jesus, submission isn't about weakness or control. It's about choosing love, humility, and mutual care. Through Scripture and story, we'll see how Christ-like submission can transform relationships, challenge the status quo, and lead us into deeper spiritual maturity. Come explore how yielding to one another in love makes room for the Spirit to move and grow us in God's promises.

Send us a textThe latest episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates dives headfirst into one of the most fired-up weeks of Giants news and rumors. From NFC East rival Brandon Graham taking direct shots at Giants fans—calling them “not very smart”—to the heated debate over whether the New York Giants should move on from veteran quarterback Russell Wilson in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart, hosts Drew and Rob hold nothing back. With the preseason heating up, the conversation turns toward the team's rapidly developing defensive identity. Giants fans will love hearing how Pro Football Focus just ranked the team's defensive line as the 3rd best in the entire NFL. Anchored by Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and rookie Abdul Carter, this may be the most fearsome unit the Giants have fielded in a decade. Dan Duggan of The Athletic even claims this new pass rush could be a game-changer for a team that has struggled to form an identity in the Joe Schoen/Brian Daboll era.The hosts also highlight Chauncey Gholston, a versatile and overlooked addition who had career highs in sacks and pressures with Dallas and may prove to be a secret weapon. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is spotted training with Saquon Barkley, hinting at serious work ethic and upside. But it's not all sunshine—Madden 25 gives the Giants the lowest overall team rating in the game at 75, ranking them even behind the Arizona Cardinals. Fans are not happy. And things take a dramatic turn when veteran analyst Mark Schlereth argues the Giants should cut Russell Wilson and start Jaxson Dart, drawing parallels to the Denver Broncos' recent transition. Add to that a bombshell report that former NFLPA president J.C. Tretter called Wilson a “wuss” in texts to DeMaurice Smith, and the Russell Wilson saga continues to spiral. With all this chaos, could the Giants finally have something to believe in on the defensive side? And is it time to officially pass the torch at quarterback? Drew and Rob dig into it all—uncensored, unfiltered, and always 100% Goofball.#nygiants #giantsnews #newyorkgiants #giantspodcast #nflnewsThank you for watching & for your support. Send us a textThis is probably one of the most important episodes I've ever done. We're talking about the difference between beliefs and believing, and how clinging to old beliefs might be the very thing holding you back from building what's next.Beliefs can become traps. They can turn into condemnation, regret, and self-sabotage, especially when you're trying to move forward but keep comparing yourself to who you used to be.In this episode, I unpack insights from Bryan Eisenberg's book, "I Think I Swallowed an Elephant," and reflect on how outdated belief systems create internal weight that we don't even realize we're carrying. You'll hear how believing — the active version — is what keeps momentum alive, and why your next chapter won't come from coasting on what got you here. We'll get real about the lies we tell ourselves, the quiet conversations we think no one hears, and how to update the internal software that runs our lives. If you feel stuck… If you've been successful in the past but can't seem to reignite the fire… If you know it's time for a reset, this one's for you.Let's rewrite the story. Let's believe forward. Let's get it! Support the show

Still Laundering Black Rage: DEI as Counterinsurgency

In this incisive conversation, Breht welcomes poet, scholar, and organizer, filmmaker, and host of the Black Myths Podcast Too Black back to the podcast to critically examine the recent attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Anchored by the penetrating analysis in Too Black and Rasul Mowatt's article, "Bootleg Rehab: Still Laundering Black Rage," this episode dissects DEI as a capitalist pacification strategy, historically rooted in reaction to radical Black movements and inherently limited in delivering meaningful change. Too Black articulates how DEI serves capitalist interests by redirecting genuine Black rage into symbolic, surface-level victories that do little to alter the underlying structures of oppression. Together, they explore DEI's historical development, its market-friendly evolution under Nixon, and its role in creating internal class contradictions within oppressed communities. Through the powerful analogy of a "bootleg rehab," Too Black vividly illustrates how superficial reforms pacify demands for revolutionary change without addressing systemic injustices like police violence, economic deprivation, and racialized exploitation. They also unpack the dialectical relationship between DEI initiatives and reactionary anti-DEI backlash, showing how both reinforce capitalist stability and deepen racial and class divides. Finally, Too Black outlines practical approaches for organizers to bypass capitalist traps, emphasizing the need for movements grounded in materialist analysis and authentic community needs. This essential discussion equips listeners with critical insights to recognize, resist, and transcend the limitations of DEI, advancing a revolutionary politics that refuses to settle for symbolic concessions in the face of real suffering. What if we designed systems not for top-down control – but for human connection? At RSA House, trust expert and artist Rachel Botsman explores how design thinking and visual storytelling can rethink leadership, power, and trust systems. We often learn something new from studying something old.Anchored in her 2025 London Design Biennale installation Roots of Trust, the conversation returns to a long-forgotten artefact: the world's first organisational chart, drawn in 1855. From this intricate, organic diagram, we trace the enduring imprint of pyramid structures and hierarchy – and ask what new forms trust might take.Expect light and shadow. Beauty and utility. Roots and branches. For anyone curious about how we might design our way toward a more connected, trusted society, this is a conversation not to miss.Speaker:Rachel Botsman, trust expert and artistChair:Abi Freeman, Organisational Psychologist and Co-Founder of BrinkDonate to the RSA: https://thersa.co/3ZyPOEaBecome an RSA Events sponsor: https://utm.guru/ueembFollow RSA on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thersaorg/Like RSA on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theRSAorg/Listen to RSA Events podcasts: https://bit.ly/35EyQYUJoin our Fellowship: https://www.thersa.org/fellowship/join

Recorded live from the 10th annual Young Women's Leadership Summit, this episode is a message straight from my heart to yours. I was deeply honored to speak at YWLS — and even more proud of my husband and the incredible team who have poured a decade into building this powerful movement of truth and leadership. In this special episode, I share a bold reminder: we are not just living in cultural chaos — we are standing in a spiritual war zone. And now more than ever, we need women who are not swept up by the noise of the world, but anchored in the Word of God.This message is a call to revive biblical womanhood — not the watered-down version the world offers, but the kind forged in fire, rooted in obedience, and patterned after the women who came before us: Esther. Ruth. Deborah. Hannah. Mary. Each of them stood in the tension of battle and belief. And so must we.If you're feeling the weight of your season — whether you're waiting, leading, building, or starting over — this episode is for you. May it remind you that God is within you, and you will not fall.Let it stir you. Challenge you. And send you back into your home, your church, and your generation with holy resolve. We hope that you enjoy this episode. God bless you and Go Rise Up!Shop PROCLAIM's latest drop: www.proclaim365.com/shopJoin BIBLEin365 and read the entire Bible with us in a year: www.proclaim365.com/biblein365
