“Our point is to become a psychiatrist with a knife, actually." A Harvard graduate, a trauma surgeon, and now the owner and medical director of Adonis Cosmetic Surgery and Spa, Dr. Rina Shinn was a real go-getter from the start. She graduated Harvard in just two years and went on to have a successful career as a trauma surgeon and Chief of Surgery. When her hospital faulted, she was forced to make a tough decision: go back into trauma surgery, working up to 100 hours a week, and give up her personal life with a one year old at home or leave the familiar behind and open her own business. Listen in as Rina and I discuss her education, her early career and how she ultimately made the decision to transition away from a guaranteed paycheck in order to open her own cosmetic surgery and spa center and balance her professional and personal responsibilities.
