With football on a bye week, it is a good time to look ahead to a program kicking off in a few weeks with new faces and lofty expectations. New Head Coach Chris Beard and his staff hit the transfer portal hard to fill out the Longhorns Basketball roster. We have Bitterwhiteguy (formerly of Barking Carnival, now part of the Pretend We're Football Podcast and the Bitterwhiteguy Substack site) on to break down the new additions, the familiar faces, the optimal rotation, and the coaching philosophy to tie it all together. We discuss the ceiling and floor of the AP Preseason #5 team, and how much effect a coaching staff has on that. We discuss the out-of-conference schedule (tipping off on November 9th against Houston Baptist). We also take a look at a loaded Big-12 conference and attempt to stratify it into tiers and identify the teams that may jump between them before the season is over. Jack and Kamiar discuss an array of things from offensive line troubles and inquiries to the weak minded penalties Oklahoma can't stop making from Kansas. We were joined by Kyle Carpenter from Barking Carnival to discuss many things Texas before Jack and Kamiar break down what they expect to see and other things going on in the college football world. After taking a week off (because no one wanted to talk about the Rice game), the guys are back to talk about the very big conference-opening win over Mike "The Mullet" Gundy & the Oklahoma State Cowboys. It was a game that was at times exhilarating, frustrating, maddening, and alcohol-inducing.....but in the end? Victorious!! Unfortunately, for the team, it was also injury-filled.....so this bye week is VERY welcomed. So, give us a listen and enjoy the fun as we get into everything that went down. Enjoy.....
Live from Mt. Thunder.....The guys breakdown the aftermath of the defeat at the hands of LSU, both the positives (I think Duvernay killed a guy with a trident) and the negatives (anyone know a recipe for fried DC testes?). They talk about where Texas goes, moving forward. We get to hear from Sir Sean, and also.....adventures in live sponsorship reads. Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.......enjoy.
The boys are back to talk about what they saw in the Texas season opener vs La. Tech as well as looking forward to the bigger Cajun invasion this coming weekend against LSU. There is some sound from Ed Orgeron from his post-game presser as well as the 1st appearance of 2019 of the Graybus. (Episode was recorded this past Sunday) Enjoy, and Hook 'Em!!!
Hey there, Longhorn Nation.....it's been a while. Yeah, that's right.....just like that Tinder/Bumble date that ghosted you, we're back and ready to get busy. Whether you find that to be a positive or negative development is entirely up to you, of course. In our Season Preview episode here, we go a bit longer than we normally will, but as Crash Davis famously once quipped.... "We're dealing with a lot of stuff, here....." So, we hope you enjoy our returning foray back into podcast land, and....as has been the case in the past....we work a little blue at times, so be cognizant of where, and around whom, you drink us in.

It was good to be back to discussing an actual football game. The bye week was rough, but football is just hours away. The boys from Barking Carnival joined Levi, Matthias, Matt and Austin to discussing a myriad of topics, some of them football related. What is the first thing you do when your significant other goes out of town for a few days? Next we broke down the Iowa State vs Texas game from about every angle imaginable. Texas has talent, but will the talent prevail this Thursday evening? We talked about the early line (+4.5) from Vegas on the game and why the money has poured in on the Longhorns who are now almost a touchdown favorite. How does Texas stack up with Iowa State’s best opponent to date thus far, the Iowa Hawkeyes?

Jason Chilton (@KnowTheGame60), Longhorn sage and writer at SBNation's Texas site Barking Carnival, stops by to preview the season opener. Discussed: The mental state of Texas fans, their options at quarterback, how the new offensive system will try to attack the Irish, issues in the trenches and a secondary that has some promise and some potential problems.
