In the seventh episode of British Murders Season 4, I tell the story of Lee James and Bijan Ebrahimi.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Bijan arrived in the UK as a refugee from Iran in 2000 and settled in South Bristol.⁣⁣⁣He received horrific abuse, both physical and verbal, from his neighbours at several different housing estates.⁣⁣⁣On July 13, 2013, Bijan was kicked to death by his neighbour Lee James after incorrectly being branded as a paedophile by the other residents.⁣⁣⁣Lee James was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years.⁣⁣⁣⁣This case is notable for the lack of support Bijan received from both Avon & Somerset Constabulary as well as Bristol City Council.⁣⁣Follow British Murders on social media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/britishpodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/britishmurdersTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@britishmurdersTwitter: https://twitter.com/britishmurdersYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BritishMurdersPodcastMerchandise available here:https://teespring.com/stores/britishmurdersSupport the show on Patreon for early access to ad-free-episodes:https://www.patreon.com/britishmurdersMake a one-off donation here:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/britishmurders All episodes are available on my website:https://www.spreaker.com/show/british-murdersWould you please send any British murder case suggestions to:britishmurderspodcast@gmail.comIntro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicMy recording equipment:Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone: https://amzn.to/3F1JkkjCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1: https://amzn.to/2XZicC8Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio Interface: https://amzn.to/3kKCLL2Rode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom Arm: https://amzn.to/3zHJOs8Purchase 'The Serial Killer's Book of Haiku' by Rose Bundy here:https://amzn.to/3lYRMbuRecorded using:AudacityiPhone XREdited in:AudacityDaVinci Resolve 17Mastered in:AuphonicReferences:Bijan Ebrahimi death - a timeline of events. Bristol is a city in England that prides itself on being one of Britain’s most tolerant and forward-thinking communities. However, a brutal murder of a disabled man in 2013 left the area recoiling in horror, even more so when it was uncovered that the murder had been the result of institutional racism, a vicious rumor mill, vigilante justice and a misguided police investigation.SPONSOR - WHAT HAPPENED? - Thank you to What Happened? for sponsoring this episode! In episode 5, Bron tells the story of Bijan Ebrahimi, a man who was ignored by Bristol police despite consistently pleading for help as he suffered bullying and accusations from his neighbours and the community. Bijan was murdered by his neighbour after being accused of being a paedophile, which was not true. Bijan Ebrahimi lived on the ground floor in a four-story block of flats located on Capgrave Crescent in Bristol. Bijan, a shy man and an Iranian immigrant, suffered from health problems that left him disabled. He had a close bond with his family and took joy in tending to his garden in a communal area that overlooked the surrounding flats. Despite being quiet, he didn't go unnoticed. He was verbally abused by some of his neighbours, as he was seen as being “different” and viewed as an easy target by his tormentors. His pleas to the local authorities for help were met with complacency, and Bijan was dismissed as being a pest and annoyance. Bijan recorded some of these incidents, however, this antagonised a gang of nearly two dozen residents who surrounded Bijan’s flat in July 2013.*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED AS THIS EPISODE CONTAINS ADULT THEMES AND DESCRIPTIONS THAT SOME LISTENERS MAY FIND DISTRESSING *** More information can be found on our website at http://theywalkamonguspodcast.com For early advert free access and other extras visit https://www.patreon.com/TheyWalkAmongUs MUSIC Laserdisc by Chris Zabriskie I Need to Start Writing Things Down by Chris Zabriskie Cylinder Two by Chris Zabriskie I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor by Chris Zabriskie Cylinder Five by Chris Zabriskie The Dark Glow of the Mountains by Chris Zabriskie Cylinder Six by Chris Zabriskie Purchase the tracks here: https://chriszabriskie.bandcamp.com/ All music sourced from http://freemusicarchive.org and used under an Attribution License - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ You can follow us via our social media profiles: Twitter - https://twitter.com/TWAU_Podcast Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/theywalkamonguspodcast/ Facebook Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1346814312074979/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/theywalkamonguspodcast/ Acast - https://www.acast.com/theywalkamongus See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
